Friday Faves
Hi! Happy Friday! Hope you’re enjoying the morning so far <3 I’m off to take a BodyPump class and enjoy the cloudy morning with my favorite little sidekick. Some faves from the week and around the web: A guide to eating intuitively from my friend Anne. She provides a lot of valuable info that you can start using right now. Toms deodorant. This is an interesting *fave* but I got a free sample in my Yoga Journal swag bag, and even though I’ve been loyal to Secret for years, I crossed over. I’m a fan of natural-based (and some not-so-natural) products, but natural deodorant has always freaked me out. There is no time for experimentation; it needs to work, especially when you teach fitness classes and sweat quite a bit. 😉 The Toms version is surprisingly awesome, so looks like that will be the new go-to. An amazing date night at PrepKitchen. Loved the vibe and interior; Mason jars everrryyyyywhere. The chocolate bundino with salted caramel gelato was especially noteworthy… 50 things you probably didn’t know about Sex and the City. The one about Mr. Big and the Catholic school girls cracked me up.
Tarte BB primer. I got this to try as a new tinted moisturizer since Target was out of my beloved Yes To CC cream. I like the Tarte one, but think I love the Yes To even more. The Tarte one is a little too matte, but I like the fact that it goes on smoothly and has a nice color. I’ll probably switch back after I go through this one. Squat challenge! We’re almost to the end, friends. Today we have 3 sets of plie squat jumps. The details are all on the workout page. More reasons to add in daily activity. 10 Harem pants (the best!!) for relaxing or working out. Things people from Tucson have to explain to out-of-towners. Impromptu down dogs. A three-year-old recites greatest “Friends” lines. (“Custard, good. Jam, good. Meat…goooooooood”) Master the kettlebell swing. Upcoming trip to Mountain Trek. I mentioned before that I’ll be going to Canada, and I’m excited to enjoy some hiking and yoga in exquisite scenery. A training plan for an upcoming Turkey Trot 10k. This is a great one for any fall running events on the horizon. Your amazing support with the eBook! Thank you so much to those of you who have checked it out and given me your feedback; I appreciate it so much. If you’d like to grab a copy, the price will go up to $12 tonight. Have a very happy Friday <3 xoxo Gina
I’m loving the harem workout pants trend. Looking forward to getting some when I can fit into them again! LOL!
I tried Toms recently too when I got a free sample and have to say that I really like it! Happy Friday!
Hi Gina! Which Toms deodorant do you like? The link didn’t work. I’ve been thinking about switching to natural but I haven’t had any luck so far. Thanks!
I switched over to Tom’s toothpaste a few months ago in an effort to start ridding the house of excess chemicals. I really thought that it would be me using Tom’s and that my husband would continue using Crest. A few weekends ago I visited my parents solo, took the Tom’s with me, and got a text saying “You took the good toothpaste!”. I think I fell in love with him a little more, lol!
Fun! I’m teaching BODYPUMP tonight and BODYATTACK tomorrow. I have only a few days to learn the new releases and haven’t started yet. I wait until the last minute and this is my worst case yet. Hope you have an awesome weekend!!
I wish I could have made natural deodorant work for me–I tried Tom’s and every scent gave me an allergic reaction! Still can’t figure out why–any one have suggestions for other brands?
I’ve tried a bunch of natural ones and my favorite so far is Natural for Her by Herban Cowboy in Blossom scent. The downside is that none of the natural deodorants really help with sweat, just stink. Hope that helps! 🙂
this one actually does help with sweat (thank goodness): http://www.amazon.com/Toms-Maine-Antiperspirant-Deodorant-Naturally/dp/B00LSOS6XA/ref=sr_1_3?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1411161710&sr=1-3&keywords=toms+naturally+dry
Interesting! It’s because it has aluminum in it, though, and that’s the ingredient I’m trying to avoid when I buy natural deodorants.
That is bizarre that there’s aluminum in there considering that is the ingredient that supposedly causes cancer, right? Hmm… still unsure of this whole deodorant situation and I am wary of the aluminum. I’ve also tried a bunch of naturals and I always stunk at the end of the day.
The Friends video was hilarious! TOO CUTE.
My favorite is bumble and bee organics. It’s the only one I don’t have to reapply mid day. And It comes in both baking soda and baking soda free options for those that are allergic!

Any kind of pylometric workouts KILL me! Plie squat jumps especially, after I’ve taken half a summer of ballet and know the proper position for your legs and such.
I’m so excited to check out your ebook! Thanks so much for putting it together to help the new bloggers out there! 🙂
hope you love it!! 🙂
Oh…my….gawd. That FRIENDS video just when STRAIGHT to my FB. I’m a diehard FRIENDS fan, and could probably recite any line from the entire series. But from a 3-year-old… I feel like I need to set up a playdate with her and my 2yr old STAT!
That alone just made my entire day.
hahaha it was SO GOOD
I loved your ebook on blogging. At first, I thought it was going to take forever for me to read when I saw 70 pages. But it was a quick read & many great tips. I love how easy your voice is to read. It’s like you’re telling me it in person.
thank you so much, megan! happy to hear you liked it 🙂
Have fun at BodyPump! I taught an early AM class this morning – always fun!
I *wish* Tom’s deodorant worked for me! I tried it because it doesn’t have aluminum in it and is all natural, but I still feel stinky!
Just started you ebook!! Yay! And yay for gelato.
wahoo!
Hope you have a great weekend!
I’m glad you like the Tom’s. I use it too. It doesn’t last very long for me, especially when I do physical activity, but I prefer for my deodorant to be natural so I deal and use it more often.
I like Dove deodorant and really like their ads that promote healthy body image. I tried Tarte BB cream (using it up), but prefer Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer.
Livi doing downward dog is so adorable! 😀
Loving this week’s Friday Faves! Especially the part about Sex and the City. All those facts were pretty funny and interesting haha
Ohh I am going to read those Sex and the City facts now! Thanks for the link!
yay im so glad you’re coming to Canada soon!! actually, im super jealous, not only about Mountain Trek, but the fact that you’re going to BC because I live in Ontario and have never been anywhere out west 🙁 can’t wait to hear all about it!
love these posts!!!!! 🙂 and Canada!? Come see me too 😉
I WANT TO 🙂
ok come 🙂 my house is open to you 🙂
I’ve been dying for a pair of Harem pants! My fam and I were just rehearsing our Bailando Zumba dance to break out into at a wedding tomorrow and those Harem pants >>>> my dress. Just sayin.
hahaha! harem pants > anything 🙂
So many good links! I want some cute harem pants. I feel like they almost made a comeback like 5 years ago but the trend never really stuck. At least I saw them a lot when I studied in Greece so maybe it was just an almost-trend there 🙂
i agree! they were close, but they finally made it 🙂
Love your friday faves!
I JUST finished the entire Solibeat workout for the first time in quite a while.
Thank YOU for the great workout!! I love the energy and dance!
wahoo!!! happy you’re enjoying it 🙂 love solibeat!
I loved your e-book! I finished it last night and it had some many great tips and suggestions. I made myself a list of take-away to do notes. 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion on the Yes to CC Cream. I usually buy Urban Decay, but I will check out this one since I am sure it is a lot less expensive.
Have a great Friday!
so stoked that you enjoyed it and got some helpful tips 🙂
xoxo
I definitely did!
Thank you for sharing the Sex and the City article too. It is my all-time favorite show and it was so fun to read these anecdotes. 🙂
Xo.
Prepkitchen is SO good– definitely one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. I’d also highly recommend Ironside Fish & Oyster, which is right next door (if you went to the one in Little Italy).
Have a great weekend! 🙂
we passed it! we were like “yeah, we’re coming back to eat here” 🙂
I love Tarte makeup, but have never tried Yes To. Have a great weekend!
I have thought about trying Toms deoderant… so seriously… it can handly a seriously sweaty workout???
this one can: http://www.amazon.com/Toms-Maine-Antiperspirant-Deodorant-Naturally/dp/B00LSOS6XA/ref=sr_1_3?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1411161710&sr=1-3&keywords=toms+naturally+dry do not get the gel one haha.
I was actually in love with that Tom’s deodorant for a long time until I realized it’s actually a deodorant AND antiperspirant, defeating the purpose of trying to go natural because it contains aluminum. The Tom’s gels were awful! Made me breakout and I still stank.
I have switched to Dessert Essence and it worked through the hot summer. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin although I do need to reapply periodically throughout the day.
so THAT’S WHY IT WORKS. faille all the way. will check out desert essence!
I really love the balance you show by using some not so natural products. I went through a long, long time of eating, exercise, and OCD disorders and every time I hear people gripe constantly about how every. single. thing. from food to body products to laundry detergents and so on has to be natural and perfect, it brings back those obsessions. Natural has it’s place, of course, but sometimes I just really like my Clinique products and bath and body works body spray – it makes me feel good and, let’s face it, we only live once. We might as well enjoy the time we are given and not shame others into feeling bad about it (my aunt does this). I used to love Toms but I can’t make Toms deodorant work since I moved to the SE from near Canada. It’s so hot and humid and I sweat more that I ever thought possible, haha. Maybe in the winter…
thank you ali! all or nothing doesn’t work for me. it’s ok to live in the mostly grey area, and it took me a long time to learn that it’s ok (and so much happier) to live that way 🙂
xoxo
I’m so jealous of your trip to BC! I’ve lived in Vancouver for almost 6 years before moving down here to San Diego, and I miss it a lot. I’ve never been to Nelson, but BC is absolutely gorgeous. Hope you’ll get to explore a little bit. I wish I could afford a flight up north, because I’m so over the heat (especially when chasing a 3 y/o while babywearing my 8 week old…). I’ll have some rain anytime, thankyouverymuch!
BTW I’m taking my son to kids yoga thanks to your recommendations, and he absolutely loves it! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend!!
mmm give me ALL of the salted caramel gelato, that looks so good!
What breed is Bella? She looks like our Scout 🙂
she’s a maltipoo 🙂
Yay to you coming to Canada! Too bad you’re not checking out Toronto 🙁
Have fun in BC!
i know! hopefully i’ll get to come back!
Ahh, have fun in BC! Nelson is such cute little town (we used to have a vacation home in Fernie, not too far away from there). Looking forward seeing your recap! I know it’ll make me miss home soooo much!
I finished your e-book this weekend. It was fantastic…such an easy and enjoyable read. Thank you for writing this. As a new blogger who frequently feels overwhelmed by it all, I can’t wait to implement many of the tips you wrote about in small increments.
ahhh! that makes me so happy to hear 🙂 very happy you enjoyed it!! xoxo
I got the eBook and I am loving it! Thank you so much for writing it and sharing all of your experiences for those of us who are fairly new to the blogging world. You have great advice, and I plan on going through the rest of it this week. It was definitely my Fave for the week!
<3 that is so awesome. thrilled to hear you're enjoying it!
