Hey everyone! TGIAF! Any big plans for the weekend?
By the time this posts, we should be getting into shenanigans in NY with Megan and her pilot 😀
Right now, I’m doing a little sky blogging:
After the hectic night, we got into Hotlanta pretty late and crashed out. I’m glad I didn’t end up canceling my aerobics classes since the pilot got off late anyway, and they were so much fun!
After a HORRIBLE few hours of sleep –Viesa was crying all night because she wanted to go see everyone- we got up and headed to the airport.
I had a banana and an Americano from Bizzle and chilled with the pilot while we waited for our flight:
From Atlanta to Charlotte was pretty uneventful –the pilot napped while I read Everyday Raw and Ani’s Raw Foods Desserts– and when we got to Charlotte we had 10 minutes to get to the gate before they locked the doors. We made it— hopefully our luggage can say the same :/

So it’s almost 2:30 right now and the only substantial thing I’ve eaten is fruit. Don’t you fret though, I’ll more than make up for it when we get there 😀
So since we’re entering vacay mode, I’m going to give you some of my favorite tips for eating well and keeping your fitness up while you’re away from home.
Some of these I’ve shared already, but figured they could use a repeat:
Be a work-out early bird. We travel fairly often and I would hate to miss out on any of the fun because I’m stuck at the gym. Usually I’ll hit up the hotel gym or take a class while everyone else is still asleep. When I get back, they’re just waking up and I’m energized and ready to start the day.
If you don’t have time to work out (or you’re exhausted/don’t feel well), don’t worry about it. You’re on vacation! Make up for it with extra walking and making healthy food choices (remember, what we look like is 80% nutrition, 10% genetics and 10% working out)
Pack LOTS of snacks and a few empty water bottles to fill up and carry around with you. Not only does this save money, but also prevents random unhealthy snacking throughout the day.
While dining out, make every effort to have you food prepared as healthfully as possible. Grilled, baked or roasted foods (without added butter) are great and always get a leafy and veggie-filled salad or broth-based soup to go with your meal. Since you ARE on vacation, indulgences are totally necessary but I try to limit them to things I would otherwise not be able to have. For example, a frozen dessert that was store-bought and sat in the restaurant’s fridge/freezer all day is TOTALLY not worth it.. while a fresh-made treat (that I’ll never have again) definitely deserves a few bites.
Take the time to explore some of the outdoor attractions wherever you’re visiting— this will guarantee extra calorie burn while sight-seeing.
Most importantly, if you fall off the wagon, get right back on. No need to beat yourself up about a super rich and indulgent meal or a couple of sedentary days. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not going to make a difference— whether or not you had an awesome time is all that matters 😀
