WSU 2013 Week 1 Giveaway- P57

Thank you so much to those of you who have been checking in, sending me your awesome pics and sharing the workouts with your friends! You are already ROCKING out this challenge, and I’m even more excited and thankful to provide virtual high-fives and prizes along the way.

The lucky winner of today’s giveaway will receive the ability to try one my all-time favorite workouts: Physique 57. P57 offered one of their Volume 1 kits (3 DVDs) + a ball, so you can feel the fiery thigh torture at home. This is especially amazing because P57 isn’t offered in many cities, so if you don’t have a studio near you (I don’t, and wish I did!) you can still do the workouts.

When you finish Workout #1 for the second time today + your tempo work, leave a comment below to let us know how it went. Did you feel stronger this time? Use more challenging weights? How’d you do the tempo work?

For the 15 minutes of tempo work, sustain a quick steady pace and then increase it in the middle of your workout. Maintain that for as long as you can (at least a few minutes) before taking it back down to your “usual” pace.

Did workout 1 for 2 rounds this morning before class. I plan to follow it up soon with a cycle class cardio HIIT session for 40 minutes. Loved the circuit this morning a nice and sweaty start to my day!

  2. Caitlin on January 30, 2013 at 4:45 pm

I wish I could do workout 1 today because I love it so much! However, tomorrow I’m having a medical procedure that requires no food today and stuff so I’m getting ready for that…hopefully I will be able to start fresh next week, I love winter shape up!

  3. Emily G on January 30, 2013 at 4:46 pm

Wednesday is when my running club meets so I’m looking forward doing Workout #1 again tomorrow!

  4. Amy on January 30, 2013 at 5:03 pm

Completed workout #1 on my lunch hour today. Did 2 rounds + 15 minutes on the elliptical. I did 6 min on resitance 5, and then 4 min at resistance 10, then back to resistance 5 for 5 min. ( is this anywhere close to how the tempo workout should be???)
I felt great afterwards and it was good to work some of the soreness out from the first workout #1.

  5. Sarah on January 30, 2013 at 5:19 pm

I did 3 rounds of Workout #1 on Monday and loved it – I’m planning on 2-3 more after my yoga class tonight!

  6. Jay on January 30, 2013 at 5:23 pm

Completed 3 sets of W#1 (with lighter weights, was home with sick little guy – need to buy heavier weights!) and a tempo run on the treadmill. Great workout (even with the lighter weights)! Thanks Gina.

Hey fitnessista!!!! I’ve been rocking chalean extreme and am on day 3 second month and have incorporated your winter shape up after my regular routine and I love it!!! I also have a little one, a son who will soon be 15 months and I am feeling better than ever. I love your website and feel like I can really relate! Thanks!!!

  8. Mari on January 30, 2013 at 5:44 pm

I did three sets of the workout and jumped on the treadmill for my tempo. I feel amazing! Exercise energizes me 🙂

  9. Cara on January 30, 2013 at 5:49 pm

Was still just as sweaty and fantastic the 2nd time around! Made it thru the workout faster this time because I knew what I was doing, but it wasn’t any easier! Love it:)

  10. Deah on January 30, 2013 at 5:52 pm

Completed workout 1 after work with coworkers. They are loving it and I feel like a know-it-all introducing them to new moves! Still kinda sore b/c I’ve been working out with Zuzka on YouTube. Hard to get in steady state cardio here in MN (without equipment, at home, indoors), so I’ve been doing lots of jumping around: burpees, jump squats, jump lunges…hoping it counts.

  11. Erin on January 30, 2013 at 5:58 pm

Just finished today’s workout! I went a little lighter on the weights on Monday so I increased a bit today – ill definitely be feeling it tomorrow!

This is a great giveaway, I did an online class not too log ago and it left my legs burning for days! It’s just what I need to get in shape before my ski vacation in April!

  12. Carly M on January 30, 2013 at 6:01 pm

Today I did a bootcamp class instead of Workout #1, it was 3 circuits of similar sets. It was an awesome beginning to my day….. Then I spilled my green smoothie all over my kitchen. Wah wahh. A little tempo work this evening followed by a glass of wine is just what the Dr. ordered! 🙂

  13. Kiah on January 30, 2013 at 6:05 pm

Did round two today! Ran 1.5 miles to the gym, did workout 1, shot some hoops, foam rolled, ran home. I keep my weights the same because I’m in (strength) maintenance mode. Hopefully I can walk manana 🙂

  14. Brittany on January 30, 2013 at 6:05 pm

Wew! It still burns! I did WSU work-out 1 for the 2nd time this week and I still felt the burn, but my balance definitely improved! The first time through I only did 2x through, but today I did 3x through which felt AckaAwesome (Pitch Perfect Anyone?)

Endorphine High is kicking in! Thanks again Gina for posting all these wonderful work-outs! You are truly an inspiration.

  15. Jeannie on January 30, 2013 at 6:08 pm

Hi Gina – I did workout 1 today + tempo. I increased my weights from Monday. Monday I went lighter since I wasn’t sure what to expect but today I gave it my all and it felt great. Tempo on treadmill.
Love all the motivation on the check ins and the great prizes so far.

  16. China on January 30, 2013 at 6:08 pm

Just finished! I was really shaky on Monday, so I thought that, plus the DOMS, would make today’s workout weak. I was pleasantly surprised, though! Felt strong through 2 circuits and rocked the cardio! Woo-hoo!

  17. Lauren on January 30, 2013 at 6:27 pm

Aaah felt so good. I really upped my weights because I didn’t challenge myself enough Monday. I definitely think ill be feeling it tomorrow! Tempo was on the treadmill bstarted off at 7.5, increased to 8 halfway through for 5 minutes, and slowed down to 6.5 at the end. I did a walking cool down for about 15 minutes. Nice and Schweaty!

  18. Niki on January 30, 2013 at 6:46 pm

Still sore from Monday’s workout #1 but managed to complete 2 more rounds of workout 1 today! Followed up by a tempo run on the treadmill! Great workout!

  19. Larissa on January 30, 2013 at 6:49 pm

Did workout 1 yesterday and my legs are SO sore. Going to hot yoga tonight!

  20. Sally on January 30, 2013 at 6:56 pm

I’m a day behind, since I had already gotten my workout in before I checked your blog on Monday. So I started it today, and did HIIT after–stairs, burpees, jumping jacks, all in a rotation. I’m feeling it now, and I expect to feel it more in the morning. The side lunges and jumping lunges were probably the hardest, but I tipped over a lot on the planks too. It entertained my three year old who watched! I’ll have to do more of those for sure. It was a weak spot. 🙂

  21. Lori on January 30, 2013 at 7:04 pm

I love winter shape up! It always comes at the most perfect time. I actually have never done tempo work before, so it was a good change for me and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for all of your hard work to put this together!

  22. Rebecca Smith on January 30, 2013 at 7:07 pm

Instead of the tempo work, I did Turbo Fire 45EZ, followed by workout 1. I’m loving getting back into strength training and forgot how much I like it!

  23. Leigh Graciano on January 30, 2013 at 7:19 pm

Got in my steady state cardio. Loved it! Looking forward to doing workout 1 + tempo tomorrow.

  24. Yenfang on January 30, 2013 at 7:25 pm

a day behind so I did workout #1 + HIIT! loved the strong superwoman! I’ve only done regular supermans before but this version REALLY made me feel my lower back muscles!!

  25. Lauren M on January 30, 2013 at 7:38 pm

Hey Gina – I completed 3 rounds of workout 1 and I did the tempo portion on my spin bike. Earlier in the day I was still a little soar from Monday, but a after a few walks with my dog and stretching I was good to go. 🙂

  26. Kellie F on January 30, 2013 at 7:43 pm

I did turbo fire instead of tempo too mostly because I just like having someone else (Chalene) pushing me.

  27. Erin on January 30, 2013 at 7:53 pm

Completed two rounds with 5 pound weights because they’re all I have. May need to invest in a set of heavier dumbells.

  28. Shannon on January 30, 2013 at 8:14 pm

I did two rounds of workout 1 and since I’m only reading this post now I didn’t know what tempo work was so I did one minute hard, one minute easy on the elliptical for 15.

    Thank you Gina!

  29. Sarah on January 30, 2013 at 8:20 pm

I did the HIIT this morning and will complete Workout 1 when I get off work! Thanks for the motivation 🙂

  30. Rachel C on January 30, 2013 at 8:20 pm

Woo hoo! Workout 1 burns! My buns have been burning all week. I blasted through two rounds today and it felt great. Plus, Winter Shape Up and checking in today are the only reasons I made it to the gym. It was pouring down rain and nasty, nasty, but I was determined to make it and keep to my workout schedule.

  31. Katherine P on January 30, 2013 at 8:24 pm

I did workout 1 for the second time tonight and I was still feeling the burn from Monday! I was struggling with those jump lunges today so I did 2 rounds instead of 3 like I did the first time. Then I did some tempo work on the bike. I’m lovin this winter shape up so far, my balance is improving but the plank with reach and tuck still gets me! Thanks for putting all of this together!

  32. Kristin on January 30, 2013 at 8:24 pm

Finished Workout 1 + HITT yesterday and nailed the HITT & Steady today. We got 6 inches of snow last night, and the last thing I wanted to do was get to the gym, but this challenge is definitely motivating me. Thanks for making me hurt so good!

  33. Elizabeth @ HobbyLobbyist on January 30, 2013 at 8:33 pm

Today was a rough one. It was a long work day and the last thing I wanted to do was work out! I told myself I would just start it and see how it went. It wasn’t the cleanest, prettiest workout, but I’m glad I made myself do it!

  34. Danielle Sobol on January 30, 2013 at 8:37 pm

Work out #1 is awesome! I love that it’s something that I can do at home, like today, and yet it’s still super tough for me! I ony hope the rest of the work outs are as awesome, as this is my first winter shape-up 🙂

  35. Jenn on January 30, 2013 at 8:41 pm

Did three rounds of Workout 1 today and it was great as expected — what really killed me was the tempo run! I haven’t been doing any since I’m sort of taking time off from marathon/half marathon training and have been alternating steady state and HIIT. I did 5 mins at normal pace, 5 at high pace, 5 back to normal on the dreadmill (Pittsburgh is a rainy mess right now). Running for 5 minutes at the high pace was a doozy. Loved it though – looking forward to tomorrow!

  36. Aimee M on January 30, 2013 at 8:43 pm

3 rounds of workout #1 today! wowzaaa

  37. Natasha on January 30, 2013 at 8:56 pm

Completed second round of workout #1. It felt good to get my sore muscles movin and groovin after Mondays workout!

  38. Nikki on January 30, 2013 at 8:58 pm

Def felt better doing workout 1 today! Loving this!

  39. Shelby on January 30, 2013 at 9:03 pm

Just finished 3 rounds of Workout 1 + 15 minutes of tempo work on the treadmill. I needed to get a little sprint work in today. This was a PERFECT workout – a great balance and reinvigorated me after a long day of classes. This is my first time participating in the Winter Shape Up and I’m loving it so far! (As we speak, eating a few amazeballs as a post-workout snack. Excellent!

  40. Theresa on January 30, 2013 at 9:07 pm

I did 3 rounds of workout #1…then 8 min on treadmill for 6.5 mph, then 5 min at 7.8 mph, then back down to 6.0 mph for the last 2 mins! I hope that is what tempo is supposed to be. Either way, I’m loving winter shape up!

  41. Katie P on January 30, 2013 at 9:09 pm

I completed workout #1 + 15 min of tempo work – ramped up my speed and incline on the treadmill to Skrillex’s “Kyoto.” Killed it!! I’m loving knowing there are other women out there working just as hard as I am!

  42. Amanda on January 30, 2013 at 9:10 pm

Did 3 rounds of workout #1, still loving it. Need to increase some of my weights for next time. Completed the day with a nice tempo run on the treadmill!

  43. Stephanie on January 30, 2013 at 9:13 pm

Loving the burn of strength training! Thank you Gina for doing the Winter Shape Up and for such great giveaways 🙂

  44. Tara on January 30, 2013 at 9:23 pm

I’m so sore and I love it!!

  45. Amy on January 30, 2013 at 9:29 pm

I did 3 sets and loved it! can’t wait for #2!

  46. Nora on January 30, 2013 at 9:31 pm

I am one day behind so I completed just under an hour of swimming for my active rest day! Plan on waking up nice and early tomorrow to complete 3 rounds of workout 1 and some tempo! Can’t wait! My legs are loving it!

  47. Ailish on January 30, 2013 at 9:31 pm

It was easier to get through today. I ran outside for the tempo work. We had spring like weather in NJ today (66 degrees)!

  48. Ana on January 30, 2013 at 9:33 pm

Today I was able to do two rounds again followed by a tempo run on the treadmill. I really want to take my time on saturday and get three rounds done at the same weight I’ve been doing two at a time.

  49. Christine on January 30, 2013 at 9:33 pm

I did workout #1 yesterday– it kicked my butt! My thighs are feeling it today. I did a 20 minute run today to loosen up and get ready for tomorrow.

  50. Aidan on January 30, 2013 at 9:34 pm

Just finished workout 1 for the second time and def feeling stronger! Also did 15 min of HIIT at home since the roads to the gym/treadmills are a snowy mess.
