WSU 2013 Week 1 Giveaway- P57

Thank you so much to those of you who have been checking in, sending me your awesome pics and sharing the workouts with your friends! You are already ROCKING out this challenge, and I’m even more excited and thankful to provide virtual high-fives and prizes along the way.

The lucky winner of today’s giveaway will receive the ability to try one my all-time favorite workouts: Physique 57. P57 offered one of their Volume 1 kits (3 DVDs) + a ball, so you can feel the fiery thigh torture at home. This is especially amazing because P57 isn’t offered in many cities, so if you don’t have a studio near you (I don’t, and wish I did!) you can still do the workouts.

When you finish Workout #1 for the second time today + your tempo work, leave a comment below to let us know how it went. Did you feel stronger this time? Use more challenging weights? How’d you do the tempo work?

For the 15 minutes of tempo work, sustain a quick steady pace and then increase it in the middle of your workout. Maintain that for as long as you can (at least a few minutes) before taking it back down to your “usual” pace.

I did workout #1 again today! I did my tempo work on the treadmill, love a good fast run!

  2. Sarah on January 30, 2013 at 9:37 pm

Did two rounds today after work and then 15 minutes on the bike. My legs are totally cooked! I definitely found it a lot easier today than Monday, although my booty has been a bit sore since then.
Not sure I could handle physique 57 at this point but it sounds like fun for after wsu!

Yesterday finished on a not so clean eating note but today has been awesome. I went to the gym for the work out at lunch and just finished up a nice run! and I have hard boiled eggs cooking to go on a nice salad for dinner.

  4. Michelle on January 30, 2013 at 9:39 pm

Did 3 rounds of workout 1 this morning and then instead of tempo work I had to shovel snow. I plan to do tempo work after work tonight. I love the sore muscle feel! I’m already looking forward to week 2 of Winter Shape-up.

  5. Lauren on January 30, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Finished up a little while ago and was a sweaty mess once again! Did weights x3 and the tempo work on the stairmaster- 5 mins normal, 5 mins faster, 5 mins normal. Those plank reaches are sooooo difficult!

  6. bobbileigh on January 30, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Todays workout was great. A modified workout #1 plus some elliptical work.

  7. Johanna Calamusa on January 30, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Feeling great and my eating is cleaning up. I also love that sore muscle feeling

  8. melissa on January 30, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Holy work out, batman! I was a hot sweaty mess after this one.. completed 3 rounds and did a half hour on the ellipitical. My thighs are gonna be on fire tomorrow!

  9. Monica on January 30, 2013 at 9:43 pm

Not yet stronger – just feel more tired! But kept the same weights so soon I’ll need to take it up a notch.

  10. Lucy on January 30, 2013 at 9:45 pm

This workout is even better the second time around! Looking forward to next week!

  11. aneessa on January 30, 2013 at 9:47 pm

Loving this workout! Dripping sweat and feeling the burn. Bring it on round 3, i’ll be pumping some heavier iron come Saturday!

  12. Sylvia porta on January 30, 2013 at 9:50 pm

Felt more difficult today. I ran 1.5 miles at a semi fast pace before each set to change it up a bit and sneak 4.5 miles in. Looking forward to seeing what workout #2 is like. 🙂

  13. angie on January 30, 2013 at 9:55 pm

hot and sweaty work out done! Could you do a video for the first circ. round? full visual is a lot easier for me 😀

  14. Leslie on January 30, 2013 at 9:56 pm

I.am.done…in the best possible way 🙂 I just need to focus on clean eats now

  15. Melissa a on January 30, 2013 at 9:59 pm

The tempo run makes it that much more intense but its great! Great work out and feeling good about the burn!

  16. Nicole on January 30, 2013 at 10:01 pm

Did another three rounds today. I feel great and still am challenged by the knee tuck and extend plank. Looking forward to a run tomorrow! Thanks again!

  17. Michelle on January 30, 2013 at 10:05 pm

three rounds done! and did sprints for HIIT. almost didn’t have the momentum after the Workout #1 series but convinced myself and feel great. Thanks for all the motivation!

  18. Jody on January 30, 2013 at 10:05 pm

Got my workout done at lunch. Upped my weight to 12 on the first round and 15s on the 2nd and 3rd. No tome for tempo but I took a pointe class tonight and then taught jazz and tap. Love mixing it up.

  19. Hannah on January 30, 2013 at 10:06 pm

Definetly felt it tonight! My legs were still a bit sore from monday but I made sure to remember to strech this time so that I can really push it tomorrow 🙂

  20. Andrea on January 30, 2013 at 10:08 pm

I did three rounds of workout 1 again tonight and was able to increase my weight. The plank tucks still killed me! Instead of tempo work I did yoga, because my body needed a good stretch.

  21. Kelsey on January 30, 2013 at 10:11 pm

I am feeling a little sore after today’s workout! i will definitely be doing a good stretch tonight before bed.

  22. Kelsey H. on January 30, 2013 at 10:13 pm

I only got through the entire workout once on Monday, but did it twice tonight!

  23. Michelle on January 30, 2013 at 10:16 pm

Great workout today! I think I might be sore tomorrow. I LOVE P57. I took a couple of classes when I went to NY on vacation last year. I wish there was a studio in Denver!

  24. Maggie on January 30, 2013 at 10:20 pm

Feeling great!! Seriously, these exercise endorphins are amazing and addictive! LOVE IT.

  25. Alisha @ Alisha's appetite on January 30, 2013 at 10:22 pm

Did three rounds today plus 15 mins in the stairmaster! I upped my weights by 2.5 pounds and loved it just as much the second time around. Left the gym a sweaty mess

  26. Maria @ Maria Makes Muffins on January 30, 2013 at 10:22 pm

Both kids napped at the same time ths afternoon, so I was able to ft in today’s workout and a thorough foam rolling session!

Today is my husband’s birthday, so I enjoyed a GF vanilla cupcake with a dairy-free version of the peanut butter frosting you linked to last week. It was a nice “cheat” amidst my squeaky clean eats.

    • Fitnessista on January 30, 2013 at 11:44 pm

whoo hoo! happy birthday to your hub 🙂

  27. Amber on January 30, 2013 at 10:23 pm

All I know is my glutes hurt!!! Hurts Sooo good. I’ve followed your blog for years but this is my first year of WSU and I love how motivated it’s keeping me! Ready for more!

  28. Catherine on January 30, 2013 at 10:35 pm

This is my first time participating in a shape-up and so far it’s wonderful! I love the little “community” of commenters here. <3 I felt really empowered in today's workout. I think the glutes really felt it today – we'll see when the alarm goes off tomorrow!!!

For tempo work I followed your guidance for a walking workout, playing around with incline. You're right – walking is so underrated!

  29. Alissa on January 30, 2013 at 10:36 pm

Loving the WSU – my bum is on fire!

  30. Angelica on January 30, 2013 at 10:43 pm

    My arms are definitely sore

  31. Lauren on January 30, 2013 at 10:53 pm

Got through all three rounds of workout 1 today, so proud of myself for pushing through the third one! I was a sweaty mess when I finished!!

  32. Libby Egan on January 30, 2013 at 11:05 pm

    done and done!!

  33. Katie on January 30, 2013 at 11:09 pm

Used heavier weights and had quicker transitions today. Also picked up ingredients for your new amazeball recipie! Can’t wait to whip ’em up!

  34. Melanie on January 30, 2013 at 11:17 pm

Bursts of speed leave me sweaty and breathless but I can tell that they’re making me a faster runner!

  35. Molly on January 30, 2013 at 11:21 pm

Finished workout #1 today! I increased the weight to 10 lbs dumbbells. I have a cold so I skipped the tempo.

  36. Katie on January 30, 2013 at 11:29 pm

Two rounds plus a 35 minute BUTI workout!

  37. Amanda on January 30, 2013 at 11:33 pm

I switched it up and did my Thursday steady state today. I’m psyched to do workout #1 tomorrow!

  38. Chelsey on January 30, 2013 at 11:42 pm

Got through the workout! I definitely feel it in my legs! My favorite move is the strong superman- I love anything that involves back extensions! Tempo work was done on the elliptical today. Great workout! Ended on a tough eating note last night, and the workout today was good encouragement to clean up the eating! Here’s to hoping for a great day tomorrow!

  39. TheSeptembride on January 30, 2013 at 11:43 pm

213 days before my wedding and I’m taking the first steps to getting healthy for life! Workout #1 killed me but I always knew the first step was going to be the hardest.

  40. Christy on January 30, 2013 at 11:47 pm

Yowza! That workout was intense. I definitely felt stronger doing this workout a second time: I was aware of which movements were more challenging for me and pushed through them. I did not increase weights but put more effort into the whole routine. Tempo was a nice change of pace after the circuit. :]

  41. Carleigh on January 30, 2013 at 11:56 pm

I did Workout #1 earlier today with the tempo work on the elliptical! I loved it even more this time and finished a little quicker! Thanks again!

  42. Keri on January 31, 2013 at 12:16 am

3 rounds plus a tempo run before the baby woke up! Loving this workout so far. I only had kettle bells and resistance bands at home but I made it work. The workout took about 45 min–perfect for me. Thanks! Looking forward to the upcoming weeks.

  43. Liz on January 31, 2013 at 1:46 am

Today at 3pm I got told to go home from work so I could report back at midnight for storm duty (gah). So instead of going home to sleep right away, I did the workout! I skipped the tempo work, because my legs weren’t working anymore and I really did need to sleep, but I was happy I got the workout in. Will probably have to switch my rest day to tomorrow instead of Friday because of the unusual overnight shift.

  44. Kelster on January 31, 2013 at 2:28 am

Not stronger yet and used the same weights. I won’t increase weights just yet. Still learning to properly balance during the reach planks. For tempo, I did the turbo section of a Turbo Jam video along for the increased tempo.

  45. Jill on January 31, 2013 at 3:58 am

Did Workout #1 last night, thank goodness for recovery today! My quads are slowly freezing up, definitely some foam roller time tonight and more stretching after cardio next time! Must have been the extra jumping lunges, I doubled them and am now paying the price! Would love to try P57, we don’t have it in Oz 🙂

  46. Judy on January 31, 2013 at 5:07 am

Yup, I did go up on weights . . . I had to back off working my upper body for a few weeks due to a tweaked shoulder & am so glad I can work out everything again! Already wondering (dreading?) workout 2!

  47. sarah b. on January 31, 2013 at 6:12 am

Just finished 3 rounds of the WO and a treadmill tempo run before the kids woke for the day. My legs are killing me! Also made the pb cup amazeballs last night (my first time trying any amazeball recipe) and I loved them, thanks for the recipe! Made a variation for my toddlers as well – little beggars in the kitchen 🙂 Love that these workouts aren’t super long but very effective. Easy to squeeze into the day – thanks again!

  48. Brynn on January 31, 2013 at 6:21 am

I was a sweaty mess! I love the winter shape up!

  49. Emily on January 31, 2013 at 6:44 am

Definitely challenged by the knee tuck plank. I used to be able to do that! I loved the ab exercise at the end of the workout.

  50. Alicia @ Treble Tart on January 31, 2013 at 7:23 am

I had to work all day yesterday (when I tried the workout for the first time!), so it was a little tricky fitting it in. But I did it! It was so worth it too. 🙂
