4/15: Show Me Your Fit

Morning friends 😀

(Miss Stinky needs a bath, but always looks beautiful)

Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend?

Last night was a weird night. I promised the Pilot he could have an all-nighter playing zombies (Call of Duty) with my brothers, so while they played video games until 4:30 this morning, I slept on my madre’s couch. Since I could hear the video game in my sleep, I had some intense and bizarre dreams! I *would* have just come back to the house instead of staying there, but since the Pilot has to go back to Valdosta very soon, I’m soaking up every second with him that I can.

This morning definitely called for a latte 🙂

latte

We stopped at Bizzle on the way home, and I got a shot of espresso to mix with hot almond milk and cinnamon at home. It was delicious, but nowhere near the vanilla almond milk latte from Urth 🙂

+ bfast cookie dough cereal

cereal

-1/3 C oats

-1 T Naturally More Peanut Butter

-1/2 scoop Sun Warrior

-1 C almond milk

-1/2 banana

-a boatload of cinnamon

The classic never dies 😀

So when I put the call out for “Show Me Your Fit” pictures, I was blown away by their awesomeness. As you guys know, fitness comes in a variety of ways and what works for one person isn’t exactly right for someone else. It’s up to us to try what’s out there and make the best decision for US 😀 I asked for you guys to send a photo of what fit is for you—it could be a favorite meal or snack, a race pic, whatever. Some of these pics melted my heart, some cracked me up, and they were ALL incredible. So excited to share them with you 🙂

Show Me Your Fit

fit1

Lindsay: I get my fit on by hiking the Long Trail in Vermont!

Leaura Fit

Leaura: I have the most incredible trainer (Ryan Dando @ Beacon Hill Athletic Club in Brighton, MA) who never fails to continually inspire and push me both physically and mentally- he’s the best!  He also gets incredibly creative with our workouts, which I love.  One Saturday morning, as part of our session, Ryan had me dominate this punching bag (the bottom is filled with water, not sand!) by pushing and pulling it back and forth for a number of sets in our gym.  He encouraged me to give it my all and I was so thrilled to successfully complete the task, that I insisted upon having this ridiculously corny photo taken.  Accomplishment is a wonderful feeling, but it should also come with a side of humbleness and a desire to continually challenge and push oneself!

fit3

Laury: I’m 9 1/2 Months Pregnant and a man came up to me at the gym while I was lifting weights yesterday and said: " I have to say thank you for giving me NO EXCUSES to not fit in my workout!!" Hearing things like that alone motivates me to keep moving every day!

fit4

Leila: This was me right after my first 5k!!!!!!  Woohooo!

fit5

Bojana: The Whole Deal Oatmeal! 🙂 Goji berries, cocoa nibs, hemp seeds and more!

Hannah: Surfing in SC

julie5

Julie: "Barf, err, smoothie in a bowl? Yes please!"

tina

Tina: Here is one of my fit moments. Me after a 6.3 mile run – a distance record and only about 2 months into first starting up running. 🙂

kimberly

Kimberly rocking the swim cap and goggles 🙂

katie

Katie: Dancers pose on our honeymoon in Cancun! We worked out everyday that we were there, and had a blast!

ColleenandCraig

Colleen: Lindy hopping at Charm City Swing’s weekly dance; every Monday we party like it’s 1939!

kerry

Kerry: Taking a trapeze class on vacation in Curacao- the photo doesn’t do the gorgeous surroundings justice! My caption would be "Please double check my harness!" which is exactly what I said to the guy before releasing my tightly clutched left hand. Haha.

fit

Kimberly: My "fit" is chasing after my (almost) 11 month old son all day long! We also take long walks everyday which is where this photo was taken. 🙂 And, special shoutout to AZ, as we’re just outside of Phoenix!

Hope you guys enjoyed these as much as I did! I’ll be back with more later today and tonight 🙂 (Maybe 3 posts today! WHOA. Haha)

Have a lovely Friday <3

xoxo

Gina

Upcoming: We’re just putting the finishing touches on the new blog design! I’ll let you know when it’s ready to launch.. I’m so excited I can hardly stand it! It’s SO much cleaner, more user-friendly and fun. Major thanks to Cody for saving the day and being an amazing web wizard 🙂

So inspiring to see such a diverse group of women maintaining their fitness! Just goes to show how dynamic being healthy can really bed.

I respect all of these women, especially Laury (not sure how she has the energy to stay fit. I sure won’t when I’m carrying around a person inside of me). That said, I did laugh when I saw that photo– it looks like she is birthing that dumbbell.

      ahhhhhh!!! HOTTIES 🙂

  41. katie on April 15, 2011 at 5:42 pm

I made my own almond milk latte today- it steamed like a champ, kind of like old-school soy (before pacific came out with their barista series soy milk which steams a lot better). You don’t get quite as nice foam as you would with milk, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount I did get. Sorry to be such a coffee geek! I’m excited to have a really good alternative to soy or milk which still allows me to have a delicious latte.

    • Fitnessista on April 15, 2011 at 6:12 pm

      that is AWESOME 🙂

  47. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on April 15, 2011 at 7:03 pm

  48. Lisa on April 15, 2011 at 8:12 pm

Love the pics. If the pilot wants to play video with my son when he’s in valdizzy tell him to holler. Probably not a good thing to brag about that hes already conquered cod!

  49. Chelsa on April 15, 2011 at 8:30 pm
