5/25: Weekend faves
-Seeing one of my little bros graduate.
I’m so proud of Trevor! It’s so crazy, because I vividly remember Trev when he was Livi’s ageā¦ and now, he’s graduated high school.
It was a solid reminder that time really does fly by, and I’m and so excited to see what he accomplishes next.
After the ceremony, we went to madre’s for a Mexican feast:
and cake š
-This bronzer.
We got our makeup done for our photo shoot, and the woman who did my makeup used this blush/bronzer combo from Laura Mercier. Since you have to buy three products to get your makeup done, it was one of the three š
-Sleeping in. Fellow parents will probably agree that there is a 6th love language when you become a parent: waking up with the baby so your partner can sleep in. Yesterday, I woke up at 9 — it was insanely amazing.
-The Great Gatsby.
I had heard mixed reviews about the movie, but since I’m a huge Baz Luhrman fan (Moulin Rouge is one of my all-time favorite movies) and wasn’t expecting an era-appropriate film, I knew I was going to love it. It was beautiful to watch, and I especially loved the actors, costumes and the music. The symbolism of the book translated well to the movie, and we also saw it in 3D which was awesome.
-Hot bar Thursday night. It’s quickly becoming a tradition in our house, especially since I just want to eat everything but not cook anything after I get off work. Thursday is also when our grocery stash has started to dwindle, so we can pick restock on essentials and eat dinner in one spot! Two birds.
-Date night with the Pilot. We went to Pita Jungle for drinks and appetizers:
and just enjoyed some time together. He flew nights this week, so it was nice to hang out with my friend š
-I used to be annoyed when other people who do this, but I have to brag about Oliv. She’s putting two-word sentences together! My favorite is “happy baby,” even though “Elmo cracker” is pretty amazing, too.
Not faves:
-Listening to the announcer read the graduates’ names and realizing that a handful of them were baby ballerinas the year I started teaching dance. 14 YEARS AGO. Oh dear me.
-Delayed onset muscle soreness. I tend to get a little, um, enthusiastic (= cray cray)Ā in the boot camp class I teach. My calves are still crying for mercy.
What are some of your faves and not-faves from the week?

<3 summer shape up!
My fave for the week was seeing my dad! I’m a military wife and it’s been 7(!!!) years. He finally got to me my husband and I met my new nephew. Best week ever, for sure.
that makes me so happy! thank you to you and your hubby for serving our country <3
xoxo
This will be the first summer shape up I am committing to and it is starting at the perfect time!
Yay for Oliv! If I were a mommy, I’d be super excited every time my kid said something new. I see no shame in a little bit of baby bragging! Some faves from my week: finally buying some bee pollen, delving into Kimberly Snyder’s The Beauty Detox Solution (her first book), getting in a lot of sweaty spin classes, and logging lots of hours at work! Some not faves: How much I’ve been slacking on studying for my NASM exam. Tisk, tisk. Have a good weekend! By the way, I just started my blog not that long ago, but even before I made it, yours has been one of my favorites!
So excited for the summer shape up! I’m ready for some new ideas.
Can’t wait for summer shape-up! After seeing the photo of salsa I’m craving some delicious mexican food! A Giant bowl of guac and chips are calling to me!
I’m thinking about doing the Summer Shape Up. Is it something that can be done at home or do you need access to a gym? I’m ready to lose the extra pounds from having a baby in March š
you should be able to do all of it from home with a few tools (something for cardio, even a jump rope is fine, dumbbells, and a stability ball)
the first week’s workout is body weight and dumbbells š
Can’t wait for the summer shape up! Also love that bronzer! š
Sounds like you had lots of fun. I really must start a tradition of Date Nights. It is so easy to get lazy ….(sitting on the sofa in pjs at 8.40 on a Saturday night!).
I love it when they start to string words together although my littley is fond of ‘no-like-that’ as if it was all one word and in response to almost everything.
Looking forward to the shape up plan!
Congratulations to your brother. My high school graduation is June 6th. Time really does fly by. I can’t believe I am graduating! On to nursing school next year! Hope you wore waterproof makeup to the graduation! before you know it, you will be at Liv’s high school graduation!
Oh Just a side note/question. Has Liv started saying her own name yet? I love when little kids start saying their own name! Especially when they think their name is their nickname! We called my little cousin Nadia, Buggy (no idea why!) and once when she was 2, she was looking at a pic of her and her sister and said “(points to her sister) Bella, (points to herself) Buggy!” And dont feel bad about talking about Oliv. I love updates on her and I’m sure most of your other readers do to!
Can’t wait for Summer Shape up!

So excited for summer shape up
I am REALLY looking forward to this shape up! I’ve been stuck in a rut doing the same thing every week and need someone else to design my plan for once. I hope it really kicks my ass because I need a new challenge. There is only so much you can do/ combos to put together before you feel like your on auto repeat. I need advanced insanity/p90x!! š
Getting married in June and can’t wait for Summer Shape Up to keep me on track for all the pre-wedding festivities!

I’m so excited for this summer shapeup. I’m going to try my best to stick with this one, because I love doing all the workouts from past shape-up’s but haven’t totally followed along with one yet.
Super excited for the Shape Up! I just did the 4 weeks of SSU 2012, finished it last week, and I loved it! Totally effective in blasting those February couch/carb el bees.. just bought a round of new summer clothes! And I hope I just keep seeing results by doing this next round! I figure by switching up the routines again, it will be continue to be effective š
I am excited to learn more about your Summer Shape- Up plan. Do we just follow your fitness examples and meal idea’s? Also a random question, but what are some staple food items you buy from Whole Foods that you think other people would use or enjoy? Love shopping there but it can be overwhelming as well. Thanks for a great blog!
Need something to shake it up!
