Spicy makes it nice-y

Warning: Wine-Induced Blog ahead. Letโ€™s hope I donโ€™t make a super fool outta myself ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi guys! Happy Saturday! Sorry I havenโ€™t posted today.. I have no excuse except for the fact that pilot makes me want to be a lazy bum ๐Ÿ˜‰

We went to hibachi last night with an intimate group of 12 friends, and I wasnโ€™t feeling hibachiโ€ฆ

I was feeling like salad:

002

And edamame:

003

After dinner, the girls and I went to see Couples Retreat while the boys went to one of the pilotโ€™s houses, drank and smoked cigars (disgusting) until us girls went to pick them up. The movie was pretty hilariousโ€”I totally recommend seeing it! Picking up belligerent pilots on the other hand is not quite as hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‰

When I got home, I was feeling a little snacky, so I had the rest of the kale chips:

004

Addicting little guys. Iโ€™m out now, so Iโ€™ll be making more very soon ๐Ÿ˜€

This morning for bfast, I grabbed a nanner with almond butter, mesquite and cinnamon:

006

And made some french toast for the pilot:

010

I spent a good part of the day cleaning the casa, and the downstairs is totally done. Yeahhhhhh

For lunch, I made some Thai rolls using cucumber, carrots, bell pepper and spicy coconut (coconut flakes with lime juice, agave, cayenne and sea salt)

011

013

I also drizzled some almond butter on top:

015

(rainbow chard is probably my new favorite green.. itโ€™s amazing)

The pilot and I ended up sharing the plateโ€”he loved them!

017

This afternoon, Jeni and I hit up the gym for some cardio and weights. Iโ€™ve been feeling a little less-than-motivated lately since itโ€™s so hot here (in the 90s today!) and having a gym buddy certainly helps.

Hereโ€™s what we did:

Walk 4.2mph, 2.5% incline 30 minutes
Weighted squat 8 lbs each 3 sets of 12
Leg extension 50 lbs 3 sets of 12
Seated calf raise 60 lbs 3 sets of 10
V-glutes on stability ball Body weight 3 sets of 12
Walk 4.2mph, 2.5% incline 20 minutes

Total time: 1 hr 15 min

After the gym, we hit up the Main Squeeze for some smoothies.

I got the Tropical Superfood (pineapple, mango, spinach, parsley, apple juice and banana) with extra spinach and a shot of wheatgrass:

018

And Jeni and I split our favorite vegan cookie:

019

I ran some errands and made a pretty delicious dinner for the pilot and I.

033

Kale salad with lime juice, nama shoyu, tomatoes, agave, sea salt and cayenne

032

Raw sushi with cauliflower rice, bell pepper, cucumber, carrot and avocado

029

Noodles in peanut sauce for the pilot (I had a few bites to make sure it tasted ok)

030

(Garlic, coconut milk, tahini, peanut butter, sea salt and cayenne)

And organic cab:

035

It was pretty much glorious, if I say so myself ๐Ÿ˜€

Well Iโ€™m off to chill with pilot. Iโ€™m hoping he turns off football already and puts a movie on ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have a great night!

xoxo,

G

Football season comes at a nice time for me. I’m usually swamped with homework and Mallard can watch the game in the basement while Snuffy plays. He even throws her a few passes while he watches!

  9. Amara on October 11, 2009 at 1:23 am

Whoa! what happened to the pictures? I went back here to see if you posted again and a bunch of the pictures were changed out.

    • Fitnessista on October 11, 2009 at 11:52 am

      hey amara,
i’m trying to get that figured out over here too. it happened to me yesterday- i was skimming the blog and then saw where it said “road trip snack” it was a picture of a cocktail instead of a larabar!! hahah not good. i talked to my webmaster and he said it’s because a lot of my pics have similar numbers in their file name, so i need to go and re-name them.

    Cute nappies!

  20. Stephanie on October 11, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Everything looks absolutely delish! What kind of coconut flakes do you use? Or did you make them? Thanks!

  21. Erin on October 11, 2009 at 7:55 pm

What up knife skillz! V. impressive ๐Ÿ™‚ Is the pilot enjoying your new skills as much as we are?
I love that you trimmed the chard to fit. That’s smart. I’ve done it using the whole leaf and it sort of ruined it for me.
    Nice workout bb.

Hi there. I am a new reader and am loving your blog! I found you through Pasta Queens’ blog. Quick question: I have searched (and searched) your blog for the recipe to your kale chips but can’t find it, how do you make them? I have made kale chips before but with just garlic and salt and baked not dehydrated. What makes these cheesy? Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on October 13, 2009 at 9:17 pm

i wish i could say but since i tweaked school’s recipe and made it my own, i’m keeping under wraps for now. everyone will find out why in a couple of weeks, i promise! thank you so much for stopping by my bloggy- hope to see you around here more often!
