Snail crawl to Valdizzy

Hi guys! Happy Monday! I gotta say, I loved the weekend but it always feels good to get back in the swing of things after a holiday 😀

Yesterday, we were lazy bums and slept in before getting on the road back to V-town.

The eats were pretty standard…

My favorite green juice

green

More berries

berries

And a chocolate coconut raw food bar

bar

Heaby introduced me to these back in the day, and I’m a huge fan 😀 It tastes like a coconut cream pie Larabar with chocolate chips. Winner, winner 😉

We were moving right along until we hit the holiday traffic of death. We crawled for about two hours… thank goodness I had some hot pilot eye candy,

dogs

viesser

(sandwiched between two beds in the backseat)

bell

(snoozing on the pilot)

and Christmas music to jam to.

When we got back to the casa, I was starvin’ so I made something I had been conjuring in my mind for the entire 4 hours.

roll up

I took a breakfast Sunshine burger and mashed it up with a chopped orange bell pepper, chopped zucchini, nama shoyu, ketchup, mustard and oregano.

Then I spread the mixture into rainbow chard leaves, rolled it up and devoured 😀

Glooooorious.

After all of that, I got to work on a nutritional analysis and meal plan for a client –if ya’ll ever need help with that stuff, send me an email- and then it was SNACKTIME!

I added a little sumthin’ sumthin’ to the usual brown paper bag organic popcorn with cinnamon and vegan chocolate

macapopcorn

MACA!

Maca has gotten a little trendy in the blogworld lately. I’m glad because it really is an awesome superfood to add to your diet 🙂

Green tea:

tea

I love tea at night—it helps lure me into dreamland. I drank it while watching the Bobby Flag vs. Masaharu Morimoto Egg Nog battle. Bobby Flay = seksi 🙂

Well I’m off to walk these puppers!

See ya this afternoon with the Thanksgiving recipes I owe ya 😉

Have a wonderful day <3

Much love,

Gina

    Thanks one more time 🙂

Hope you have a glorious walk with the cute puppers. And you KNOW I’ll be back to see about those recipes this afternoon. Although I don’t know how they could top your yummy-lookin’ chard creation… it looks like something you’d get at a raw restaurant!

    Hello Ms. Fitnessista-
First let me say that I think your blog is wonderful and inspirational. You truly are revealing how eating raw and healthy can truly be sexy, creative, non boring romantic etc… You and your pilot (it took me a minute to understand)..I’m like “Oh..he’s a pilot”. Anyway, can you please help me to get started eating healthy and raw. I’m so overwhelmed with a lot of information and I need to get a simple plan of everyday eats and not try every receipe that comes my way. I am tryin to loose 20lbs and will commit to working out 5-6 days a week. Please help with a nutrional food plan. I admit that I’m nervous about carbs and I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing. I don’t want to obesess but I think the carbs should be cut back until I at least loose the 20lbs. Please help. Thanks.

Hey Gina, I’m not seeing how to email you anymore. I just came off of a figure competition which I did pretty well in, but did it with a high animal protein diet. Then I read the China Study. Blech. I’m struggling to figure out a diet to support intense weightlifting five days a week but that is still vegan, and still has dinners I can feed my three kids (maybe with minor adjustments). I’ve gained back 6 pounds, and would like to drop those back off, and then have a good maintenance diet/cardio program for the long term. How much would you charge for two diets like this? Even if they are just guidelines (protein, fat, carb grams, calories) and some recipe ideas for dinners. Sorry to put this all in a comment.

I always see that bar at WHole Foods but was afraid it would taste like chalk.. your description def makes me want to pick one up next time I’m in WF. Are the stats good on it?
Glad you had a good holiday!

  16. Rebecca on November 30, 2009 at 10:37 am

Hi Gina – I wanted to email you but I can’t find your email addy. Can you post a glute workout?

  17. Erica on November 30, 2009 at 10:52 am

Those bars sound awesome. HEAB has great taste. Ugh- we sat in the traffic yesterday too. It was PAINFUL. Glad to be home though 🙂

  18. Lena on November 30, 2009 at 10:56 am

GINA!! I just caught up on your life! Well, your blog life. I’ve missed you!

I have to say that you are rocking those boots. You look so bossy in them! J’adore.

I need some pilot eye candy. Well, my own pilot. You know what I mean.

I think I’ve missed something with the maca. What does it taste like?

Anyway, I hope you’re having a great start to the week! xoxo 🙂

Glad yawl got back safe & sound. I haven’t tried rainbow chard raw; I usually saute w/ the usual EVOO, shallots, garlic, etc. I have planted four plants along w/ my herbs. I planted some last year, but they were too pretty to eat!

  22. chrysta on November 30, 2009 at 11:54 am

Oh Yum! looking good. Glad you made it through all that holiday traffic! It can be really wicked sometimes! The popcorn mixture sounds delish! Love it! Have a great day!

I watched the same Iron chef last night, ha ha – you are right about B. Flay! Happy monday!

I’m loving getting to know you and your blog more and more. I’ve lived in Orlando all 36 years of my life (actually 7th generation too) yet I’m discovering places that I didn’t even know existed until I frequent your blog! I told my husband last night that we’ve GOT to try that RAW Cafe 118 in Winter Park! WOW! Please tell me more about it. I went on their website, but would like to hear first hand from you!

Come over to my blog sometime! I’d love to get to know you better since you’re always coming to my neck of the woods! 😉

  25. Jenna on November 30, 2009 at 5:33 pm

    those dinner rolls look great!

I’m glad to get back to school and my routine. While I do like a break, I don’t like change and chaging my schedule around is not fun!

I need to keep my eye out for those yummy bars! They sounds amazing!

Mmm and those wraps, genius! The popcorn looks delicious too. I need to get some chocolate chips!

Can’t wait for the recipes 🙂

Hi Gina! I’ve been following your blog for a few weeks now and love it! You make me want to eat healthier every day. I love seeing what your eating and how yummie it all looks! What are the nutritional stats for the MACA? What is the benefit of using it? Thanks

  28. Lisa Bledy on December 1, 2009 at 8:31 pm

Thanks Gina! I found the info very interesting. I’m going to look into getting some and trying it – esp since you said it tastes good w/cocoa powder 🙂

  29. Samantha on December 3, 2009 at 1:46 am

Since you offered the help 🙂 …I know you’re not a constant calorie counter but do you have a suggestion for someone trying to figure out about where they need to be eating? I’m short (4’11”) and am trying to find a good balance.

  30. Samantha on December 14, 2009 at 11:58 pm

I’m sorry I’m just now thanking you…but I appreciate your giving me this as a jumping off point. So despite trying to eat moderately, I’m still eating too many calories and should try and cut back more. Being short and over 30 has its downfalls!

  31. Erin on December 20, 2009 at 9:35 pm

Mmm I love the sunshine burger mix. I remember you doing something like that awhile ago. I have a box in the freezer and I need to do something with it!
I am so hot for Bobby Flay too! His accent, the hair, the fact that he’s sort of an a-hole…YUMMY!
We should go to his resto in AZ together!

    • Fitnessista on December 20, 2009 at 10:00 pm

hahah he is sort of an a-hole!! maybe that’s the real reason why i love him so 😀
i would love to stalk, i mean dine, at his restaurant with you 😉
