Hi friends! As we put the cherry on top of the 2020 dumpster fire and say ADIOS to this year, I wanted to take a minute to say thank you.
I don’t take this blog or the work I’m able to do for granted, ever. Every single day I’m excited to connect with all of you in this space which first began when the Pilot told me to “stop shopping online so much and find a hobby that doesn’t cost anything.” <— lol. The blog has grown and changed so much over the years, and whether you’re an OG blog reader (thank you!!!) or a new friend (hi! welcome!!), I hope you know how much I appreciate you hanging out with me over here.

Despite how incredibly hard it’s been, a positive that has come from 2020 is being forced to slow down. I hadn’t realized I was running such a rat race until quarantine hit and now I am much more judicious with my time.
Reconnecting with loved ones in faraway places 🙂

My happy memory is my trip to Switzerland with my husband for our anniversary that we snuck in in January before the world turned sideways, my two visits to see my mom in Nashville for her 70th birthday, and my road trip through Utah and Arizona taking in the breathtaking wonder that is this country. It was a rough year but I made it work and will cherish the silver linings!

A happy moment from 2020 was that I got to start the year off in freaking Patagonia!!! Hiking in Chile and Argentina with one of my uncles, cousins, and my little brother. The trip was in honor of my Uncle Jim who passed of stage 4 lung cancer (an unexpected diagnosis that came out of the blue). That trip was everything. We grieved, we were connected to each other and nature, and felt my uncle in the mountains and in the glaciers. I am thankful every single day that I was able to share that experience with love ones and see the most beautiful place on the planet prior to things shutting down due to covid.

Although I hated that they had to leave college, I loved having my twins home with us during quarantine. We had so much fun being together and finding ways to make the most of the weird time!

My highlight from 2020 was getting to spend more time at home with my family. I often work on the weekends and my husband is home on the weekends so I never feel like we’re together as a family unit (plus the kids typically are in school during the week). This year, I was furloughed from my job and although at first I was really upset about that, it turned out to be a huge blessing because we have been able to spend almost every weekend together as a family. That has been a very special gift that this unusual year has given our family.
Hearing my grandmas voice for the first time after she had an unplanned surgery was my best moment of 2020.
