Beautiful Baubles

Hi hi hi Open-mouthed smile How are you?? My day has been bueno, but a little all over the place.

First I munched a smoothie in a bowl:

smoothie

-1 C almond milk

-1 scoop Dr protein + 1 scoop Sun Warrior

-1/2 avocado

-1 T raw cacao powder

-1 C-ish frozen organic strawberries

and got ready to take my car to get a new tire (boo) and hit up the GEM SHOW with my madre (wahoo!).

Since I’ve gotten quite a few requests to include more fashion-y type stuff on the blog and I wore non-workout clothes today, here’s today’s outfit:

outfit

-Striped tank, J. Crew

-Navy blazer, Banana Republic

-Boyfriend jeans, Express

-Gold necklace, Express

-Gold flats with pom-pom flowers on top, Aldo

It’s something I’ll play around with a little- if you guys like it, I’ll keep doing it, if not, ain’t no thang Winking smile

The gem show is an annual thing in Tucson- jewelry vendors come from all over the world and sell jewelry, trinkets, accessories at wholesale price. You have to be a jeweler or know one to be admitted to the big tent with the crazy deals- my madre gets us passes each year. We met up with my friend Michele and her mom to see what sparkly goodies we could find.

gem show

Rows and rows of jewelry Smile

I LOVE looking around but it isn’t long before I get claustrophobic and hungry, so we hit up one of the food tents outside. There was an amazing selection, but the Greek one caught our eye with the fresh salads and promises of hummus Smile

greek2

Falafel, hummus, salad with no cheese, extra olives

I was a fan… I always shop better with a fully belly Open-mouthed smile

greek

It was a blast looking around- I picked up a ton of fun stuff.

After the gem show, we picked up my car and I took a friend to her first acupuncture treatment in a long time. Nothing like napping next to a good pal, in a comfy chair and a needle sticking out of your forehead Winking smile

I’m gonna grab a snack and then get ready for dance.

See ya in the morning! <3

xoxo

Gina

Still waiting to find out where we’ll be stationed… hopefully we’ll get news soon! If you could live anywhere, where would you choose?

Your lunch looks awesome, and how cool that you got into that jewelry show!

If I could live anywhere, I would choose…I have no idea! I grew up in New England and miss it, but wouldn’t want to spend the winters there. I enjoy visiting warm places like Hawaii, but wouldn’t want to live there year round, either. Can I pick two places?? By the beach in New England in the summer and somewhere lovely and warm in the winter.

  2. Jenni on February 7, 2011 at 8:09 pm

I think I’d like to live in Texas, or maybe California! How are you jumping so high in that picture?!

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 8:43 pm

i think it just looks higher than it actually was 🙂

  3. Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles on February 7, 2011 at 8:09 pm

Yuuuum! I love Greek food. Good call on the extra olives! 🙂

  4. Michelle C on February 7, 2011 at 8:09 pm

omg that lunch looks fantastic. If I could live anywhere it would be NYC. I grew up there and miss it a lot. But it’s not in the cards for me to live there right now. 🙂 Maybe one day…

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 8:42 pm

im the same say- everytime i visit nyc i feel like i’m supposed to live there

  5. Jackie @ Baking Charms on February 7, 2011 at 8:10 pm

How exciting! Hope it’s somewhere you love 🙂 Those jewelry/trade shows are so much fun but I know what you mean about feeling claustrophobic… I feel the same way at the mall. Thank goodness for outdoor shopping here in NC!

  6. Mandy (theamazonprincess) on February 7, 2011 at 8:13 pm

Yum that food look so good! I hope you like your new goodies. 🙂 Annnnd if I could live anywhere…as long as I had my love with me, it could be anywhere, but probably Chicago! 🙂 Orrr somewhere warm like Florida. 😀

  7. alison on February 7, 2011 at 8:15 pm

Waiting for a new duty station is always nerve wracking. We should be hearing about our next duty station shortly. Man, I hope it’s a good one! We were lucky enough to live in Hawaii about 12 years ago, and would LOVE to go back.
I hope you and the Pilot get to live somewhere wonderful.

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 8:41 pm

      hawaii?! that would be AMAZING

  8. Lindsey @ SoundEats on February 7, 2011 at 8:15 pm

Well if I were you I would choose Tucson! If I were me…I would (impossibly because there is no station there) choose Sarasota. Familia = my heart!

  9. Suzanne on February 7, 2011 at 8:15 pm

that is the coooooolest picture of you! in fact, that picture is as cool as this link is disgusting/hilar http://consumerist.com/2011/02/yep-there-was-semen-in-the-yogurt.html it’s foodie-related, so i beseech you to check it out

Easy question today: I would live part-time at Hogwarts, part-time in Paris.

  10. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on February 7, 2011 at 8:16 pm

I would stay in NY, but I’d have houses lots of other places. I hope you get stationed somewhere you will be very very happy, although I know you’ll basically be happy anywhere as long as the Pilots with you! 🙂

  11. Emily on February 7, 2011 at 8:18 pm

San Diego. I’d leave immediately if I could.

  12. kelli on February 7, 2011 at 8:19 pm

I love when people elaborate on what they wear 😀 … also you should do posts like how you can dress up your LULU gear after work if you wear going out 😛 You look so fly-iii-iii-y

  13. Rachel on February 7, 2011 at 8:19 pm

Yay for fashion posts! Cute outfit today! 🙂

If I could live anywhere, I would live by an awesome beach but only if my family could come too. Actually, anywhere that everyone you love is around is pretty awesome!

Can’t wait to see all the goodies from today!

  14. melissa lillie on February 7, 2011 at 8:19 pm

I am always down for help with fashion. As far as where I would live….British Columbia but only with my boyfriend..I dont think I would trade him to live anywhere.

  15. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on February 7, 2011 at 8:20 pm

That is such a cool photo of you Gina! I love Express and really wish they’d open some stores in Canada because their shirts all seem to fit me perfectly. Sounds like you had fun today! That must be frustrating not knowing where you’re going to be stationed. I can’t stand uncertainty so I don’t think I’d cope very well! If I could live anywhere, it would have to be somewhere hot. I like the idea of California, but I’ve never actually been there so I suppose I should visit first! I’ve lived in the Middle East and the UK and while both were good experiences, I can’t say either are my ideal living destinations. Have a great night!

  16. Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete on February 7, 2011 at 8:22 pm

I’m not a huge jewelry lover, but I love to look at it — that show looks wonderful! I sometimes wish I was the type of person who wore different jewerly each day, etc.

I don’t know where I’d want to live – some days I really really love living in MN but other days (like WINTER days! ha!) I wish I lived somewhere warmer. For some reason I have always wanted to live in Seattle, even though I have never been there.

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 8:40 pm

that’s so crazy- my bro is moving to seattle and he’s never been there 🙂

  17. Jennifer on February 7, 2011 at 8:29 pm

I personally love it when bloggers post what they’re wearing! I love jewelry shows..my mom gets me passes for annual conventions in Las Vegas and Miami. But I have to help her man the booths as a “thank you for the awesome free passes”. You win some, and lose some I guess.

  18. Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) on February 7, 2011 at 8:31 pm

I’ve lived in London and Seoul but honestly, I love my hometown of Washington, DC. I’m so happy to be back here.

  19. Ilana on February 7, 2011 at 8:36 pm

oh the gem show…my boyf’s a jeweler and was out there this past week, doin his thang. i was supposed to go but school got in the way, oh well!

If NYC could be transplanted somewhere warm, that’s where I want to spend the rest of my life.

  20. Kocinera on February 7, 2011 at 8:36 pm

I vote yes for the fashion pics! Love the action shot! 😀

  21. carolinebee on February 7, 2011 at 8:38 pm

Love your fash G$$!!! I am so with you, aka always wearing lulu or sweatpants ;D Plus the weather right now is SO not fashion friendly…I am all about buying fun, cheap trendy stuff, but splurging on basics and classics. That gem show=amazinggggg, gahhh i need to get a hook up to one of those! I would have to drag my mom out by her strands of pearls ;D
I def LOVE and want to move back to my hometown, the LBC 😀 But Boston is sooooooo fun and I love my job and friends here, just not the weather so much…

  22. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on February 7, 2011 at 8:42 pm

I think I’d be more excited for that Greek food than for the jewelry show…hummus is yummus! And I’d go anywhere warm. More and more, I feel like I really belong in a hot climate!

  23. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries on February 7, 2011 at 8:48 pm

I’d love to live in Raleigh, NC or Charleston, SC! I hope you find out where you’re going soon! 🙂

  24. jen on February 7, 2011 at 8:49 pm

I am a fashion reject and need all the help I can get! However I did throw away my J. Crew catalog last week when I opened it and saw that one of their jeans styles was “toothpick.” As if skinny and super skinny weren’t bad enough? Yeah, no idea why women have body image issues.
    Rant over.
I am not sure where I would live! Somewhere that is warm, but not too hot in the summer. And definitely not too cold in the winter (unlike Wisconsin where I live now). I would love to live somewhere where I could comfortably workout outside year round! Do you know of a place like that?

  25. lindsay on February 7, 2011 at 8:51 pm

I hope you get stationed in a great place. Praying for you! and of course, your always stylin with j. crew! Love it!

  26. mi-an dela cruz on February 7, 2011 at 8:51 pm

NEW YORK CITY!! in a cool penthouse!

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 9:07 pm

      that would be baller-ific

      • mi-an dela cruz on February 8, 2011 at 1:10 am

just saw your comment that when you’re there in nyc, you feel like you’re suppose to live there. that’s how i feel! i lived there for the past year and a half and really felt i belonged there.

  27. Danielle on February 7, 2011 at 9:02 pm

I just had my first acupuncture appointment ever last week, I was so intimidated going there. But OMG best sleep EVER that night.

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 9:07 pm

it’s amazing what a difference it makes!

  28. Becky on February 7, 2011 at 9:05 pm

Haha! Gina, your pics are great. You have mad hops!

  29. Clare @ Fitting It All In on February 7, 2011 at 9:06 pm

I think I’d pick either Charleston South Carolina or somewhere in Wine Country in California. This is coming from a girl that has lived in St. Louis, MO her entire life…those two places just seem so perfect to me!

  30. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on February 7, 2011 at 9:06 pm

Oh my GOODNESS!! I would have trouble not going CRAZY at the jewelry show!

You know, I’d like to say California or maybe Hawaii…but honestly, all of my family is in Louisiana, so if I had my choice, I’d probably choose home!

  31. Katie~ Run For The Bikini on February 7, 2011 at 9:11 pm

I do love Long Island where I’ve always lived, right near the beach (where I lifeguard) and a train ride from NYC. The only thing I don’t like about it is the winter :/

There are a million! places I want to visit, I don’t think I could decide until I’ve been to them all and even then I’m sure there would be numerous places I’d fall in love with. I did LOVE Charleston when I visited a few yrs ago. I reallly really want to tour Europe though!

lol so I’ll stay on LI and take many trips 😀

  32. Brittany (Eating Bird Food) on February 7, 2011 at 9:12 pm

I’d live in Florence, Italy or San Francisco. Out of all the places I’ve ever visited those are my favorites.

  33. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey on February 7, 2011 at 9:17 pm

I would have scraped that hummus clean with my finger. Yum!

  34. Ashley on February 7, 2011 at 9:20 pm

I would love to live in England but I think the rain would get to me. If I had to choose some where in America it would be NYC. Your getting massive air in that picture haha.

  35. Robyn @ Frugal 'n' Fit! on February 7, 2011 at 9:24 pm

I would be jumping for joy too if my outfit was that cute!

If I could live anywhere, I’d choose Provence. Temperate weather, access to delicious wine, cheese, and gardens…who could ask for anything more?

  36. Kristin (Cook, Bake, Nibble) on February 7, 2011 at 9:27 pm

Northern California. Beach and mountains? I’m in 🙂

    Love the outfit!

    xo

  37. Heather (heathers dish) on February 7, 2011 at 9:28 pm

What an amazing lunch 🙂 if I could live anywhere it would be in the South along the coast…best of everything, all rolled into one!

  38. Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn on February 7, 2011 at 9:28 pm

That jewelry show looks so fun!! Ahhh falafel:)

  39. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on February 7, 2011 at 9:29 pm

I have chosen to live in San Diego after living all over the country. And our 9 mos in Phoenix showed me that even tho the real estate is tons cheaper there than in So Cal, that San Diego is our forever home. And I cant ever imagine leaving here, ever! Our family is back in the midwest, and we also lived in the Carolinas for 4 years, but San Diego is where we love living and have made big sacrifices to live here…and are happy here!

Hope you guys find out soon where you’re going to be living!

And i have been to jewelry shows like that before. Holy temptation! It looks…marvelous!
    🙂

  40. Dotsie on February 7, 2011 at 9:32 pm

Dude seriously, you dress way cuter with more originality than the “fashion” blogs I occasionally look at-so keep the fashion blips com in’!! Your blog rocks!

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 9:42 pm

      thank you! 🙂

  41. Katie on February 7, 2011 at 9:32 pm

My sis in california is so into gems! She would of loved going to that show! So fun!!!

I would choose somewhere with great weather for sure but not where I have to work to live, when we lived in DC it was sooooooooooo expensive, you had to work just to live there and no money for anything else except pay the crazy amount of rent : p

I would like SanDiego but it is too far from my family in Pa : p

  42. mary (whats cookin with mary) on February 7, 2011 at 9:40 pm

If I could live anywhere it would be here (ca)! haha! I love where I live. Pretty close to the ocean, flat for bike riding (and some killer kills too, but who like that HAHA) plus lots of bikes trails… even one to the beach, the weather lots-o-fun shopping (i heart out door malls w. Anthro, Lulu AND Bloomies :D), quiet … what can I say, I love where I live. The only place I’d consider moving is up north… I mean, mountains and sea together ?! Be still my heart.

Like seeing your outfit. Very cute !! 😀

  43. Amanda (Eating Up) on February 7, 2011 at 9:42 pm

What a fun day! And that Greek food looks great!

  44. Ginna on February 7, 2011 at 9:42 pm

I have lived in quite a few places being a military wife as well. Lived in San Diego, several places in Texas, several places in Ohio and now VA. Wherever my hubby is is where I want to go!

  45. Bec on February 7, 2011 at 9:52 pm

Love the fashion post, definitely keep them up! Fingers crossed that you get posted somewhere amazing where you and the pilot will be happy 🙂

If I could live anywhere–the Bay Area (San Francisco) or Arizona!

  47. kaneil, the ritts on February 7, 2011 at 10:06 pm

love the fashion post! I would say somewhere close to the mountains and water…NYC, Portland, San Fran….beautiful, but not too remote. Gotta have a target and Starbucks within a few miles. 😉

Random question – I just started South Beach and always think of you when I hear it (I’ve been reading for a few years!)…I’ve read the books and am trying to think of more “me” foods that fit into Phase 1. Mind sharing what some of your favorite phase 1 items were back then…or what you would eat during phase 1 now? I know you’re super busy, so no big deal if you can’t. Just thought I’d ask! 🙂

    Kaneil

  48. Olleh on February 7, 2011 at 10:06 pm

I can see above that many ppl want to live in Charleston, SC. I actually lived there. The place is so peaceful and amazingly beautiful, and makes you feel so healthy but can be a lil bit boring and tourist-packed at times (Tourists,,, this isn’t bad at all, actually). So, I would have to say ‘HAWAII!!!!!’ 🙂

  49. caitlin on February 7, 2011 at 10:23 pm

I honestly wouldn’t care as long as I was with my Marine…but if I could be picky I’d choose anywhere warm! p.s. What were those ball-things in your lunch today? They looked really delicious…gosh, that sounds bad 😉

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 10:27 pm

falafel! the most delicious balls ever (next to the amazeballs)

  50. Toronto Girl West on February 7, 2011 at 10:28 pm

    I don’t know that I’ve found my ideal place to live yet . . . I’m still searching! 😉

But I would want the place to be cosmopolitan, trendy, not too big, by the Ocean, near the mountains, not too cold, not too warm, and affordable. Plus there would be access to great hiking trails, beaches, doggy friendly areas, and nearby airports.

Now if all of my nearest and dearest could be there it would be beyond perfection!!!!!!! 🙂

    • Tabi on February 8, 2011 at 12:09 am

Sounds just like Vancouver girl! It’s my (Canadian) dream place 😀
