Everydrop Water Filter (+ a giveaway!)

[This post is sponsored from Whirlpool® Water. Of course, all opinions are my own. Read on for more details + a giveaway for a lucky reader to get their own EveryDrop™ Water Filter + a $100 gift card!]

I’ve gotten away from my number-focused ways. There was a time when I counted calories judiciously, knew my weight and body fat percentage, and recorded various numbers in a notebook… or let them run wild in my brain. I haven’t weighed myself for months (and prefer to go by how my clothes fit) and no longer keep track of all the little details. The only thing I track now is something that has a huge impact on my skin, energy levels and metabolism: water intake. I have a big Nalgene bottle (32 oz.) and make sure I fill it at least three times throughout the day. (You need 96 oz. of water a day to live– more if you’re active!) Everydrop 1 of 1 4

I always have my water bottle with me, and pack one up for Livi too since she loves to drink water all day. Even when I travel, I’ll put an empty large water bottle in my backpack and fill it once I get through security. It’s better than buying plastic bottles, and this way, I have a water bottle for my trip. Here’s the thing, though: when I travel, the water kind of sketches me out. I’m always hearing about different things that can be found in the water system -ok, and I was traumatized when I read an article about some things that were found in Tucson- so I always figure: the more filtration, the better. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when Whirlpool Water offered to send me an EveryDrop Water Filter to try out. It was much smaller than I imagined, Everydrop 1 of 1 and came in a cute travel case. Everydrop 1 of 1 2 I quickly assembled it, and couldn’t wait to try it out: Everydrop 1 of 1 3 Something that surprised me was how quickly the water came out! It would be so easy to use this between a public water fountain and my bottle. Everydrop 1 of 1 5 In reality, I don’t see myself carrying it around with us all the time -I have too much to lug around as is -but it is definitely something I’ll use while traveling. If you’d like to win your own + a $100 Visa gift card, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post with techniques you use to drink more water. I have a few in this post, but my all-time favorite is to infuse it with fresh fruit and herbs.  You can get up to two entries by completing any of the methods below!

My newest thing is adding frozen berries to my water. I also like to make a big batch of lemon, cucumber and mint water.

  2. Katie on November 5, 2013 at 10:08 am

awesome! i don’t love water- so i usually spruce it up with some lemons, or i drink seltzer water. i also drink 16 oz of water when i first wake up- before i even know what i’m doing, and keep a full bottle of water at my desk to sip on throughout the day.

  3. Rebekah B on November 5, 2013 at 10:09 am

I always keep a big water bottle with a straw with me. As long as my water bottle has a straw I have no problem drinking plenty of water

  4. Stephanie on November 5, 2013 at 10:10 am

I find that I drink more water when it’s cold, so adding ice or refilling my water bottle frequently helps!

  5. Mami2jcn on November 5, 2013 at 10:10 am

I bring water bottles with me everywhere.

  6. Lisa on November 5, 2013 at 10:11 am

I am stuck at my desk all day, with little chance for breaks, so my best tip is to keep a GIANT (50 oz) water bottle at my desk and fill it up at least twice. If it’s next to me, I’ll drink it!

That’s an awesome give-a-way! 🙂 I do the same thing. I carry my Nalgene water bottle with me everywhere and try to refill it 3-4 times a day so that I’m getting enough water. I also lug it with me when I travel and refill it. I like to mix a little juice with sparkling mineral water or Emergen-C with it and have a healthy “soda” water lol. Now that I’m preggers, making sure I get enough water is especially important to me more so now than ever, so I definitely could see the filter coming in handy 😉

  9. Brittany on November 5, 2013 at 10:12 am

I keep a water bottle on my desk at all times, but I usually don’t have a problem drinking enough. I love water!

  10. Meredith B. on November 5, 2013 at 10:12 am

I have a big Nalgene that I fill up with water 3 times a day. I squeeze lemon wedges into my water to make it more appealing!

  11. Jill on November 5, 2013 at 10:14 am

I love mint in my water – right now using Zero Water I like it but the filters are expensive : (

  12. Kelsey on November 5, 2013 at 10:14 am

I always have my water bottle next to me at my desk – this way, I can always see it and know I drink more water that way. I make it a goal to fill it up at least 4 times a day.

  13. Debbie on November 5, 2013 at 10:14 am

    Lemon slices & fresh mint!

  14. Helen on November 5, 2013 at 10:14 am

I always keep my water bottle with me at ALL times!

  15. Eileen on November 5, 2013 at 10:16 am

I find drinking 24-30oz of water first thing when I wake up is a great way to hydrate from the night, wakes you up, and it also will help you to consume more water throughout the day. (at least that is what my naturopath told me) and it seems to work. I also drink my water at room temperature which helps it go down easier. Cold takes me too long unless it’s really hot.

  16. Kary on November 5, 2013 at 10:16 am

I keep numbered water bottles at work and home that I refill…that way I know how much more I need to drink that day

  17. Shari on November 5, 2013 at 10:17 am

I carry a water bottle with me all day to keep track of how much water I’m drinking. I’ll drink more water if it’s cold so I got a bottle with a wide mouth so I can easily add ice.

  18. Liz on November 5, 2013 at 10:17 am

I buy the gallon jugs at the supermarket and make sure to finish at least one a day. I need a new system because that gets pricey and uses too much plastic!

  19. Ashley N. on November 5, 2013 at 10:18 am

I just have to keep a reusable bottle at work and that helps me increase my water intake. Another thing I’ve realized is that if I don’t start with water in the morning, I am less likely to drink it throughout the day. So water has to always be my first beverage of the day!

  20. Stephanie DV on November 5, 2013 at 10:19 am

I keep a refillable water bottle on my desk at work and fill it up 3 to 4 times a day. I also take water bottles on the go with me everywhere! It’s pretty much the only thing I drink!

  21. Tammy C on November 5, 2013 at 10:19 am

I have a gallon water bottle that I fill early in the day. My goal is to have it drank by noon. Then for my remaining water consumption, I sometimes add mio just to jazz it up.

  22. Sheila on November 5, 2013 at 10:20 am

    Cute!

  23. Jenn on November 5, 2013 at 10:20 am

I swear if I take my vitamins in the morning, I’m thirsty all day long. So as long as I take my vitamin and have my water bottle handy I usually meet the minimum requirement. Is that weird?

  24. Melodie on November 5, 2013 at 10:21 am

I just like to use a large plastic cup , with the matching lid and straw. That way it can travel with me all day with no spills. The straw makes me drink more for some reason. And adding a squirt of fresh lemon juice entices me to drink even more. I also like to have an 8oz glass of water right out of bed. Every little cup helps.

I love drinking water. I always have a bottle at home, a bottle for work, and a bottle for the gym. I think being prepared helps me 1. stay green by reusing instead of buying more plastic 2. stay frugal by not wasting money on bottled water 3. stay hydrated- If I always have a bottle at my fingertips, I will always be drinking 4. stay healthy- having a bottle of water keeps me from walking to the breakroom for snacks during the day. I’ve found that I’m usually thirsty– not hungry.

  27. Abigail on November 5, 2013 at 10:22 am

I set a timer on my phone to ‘ping’ me every hour. This way I can make sure I’m on track and know I’m ready to refill my glass!

  28. Morgan on November 5, 2013 at 10:22 am

Great giveaway! I like adding mint leaves and cucumbers to my water, sometimes a splash of coconut water too, just for some extra electrolytes and flavor. I typically try to drink 8 oz of water following anything else I drink; i.e. one cup of coffee, 8oz of water.

  29. Jenn on November 5, 2013 at 10:22 am

I have a 20oz water bottle that I fill & drink down quickly at 4 key points every single day (as soon as I wake up in the morning, while I’m loading my kids’ breakfast dishes into the dishwasher, after I put the baby down for her afternoon nap, and while I’m making dinner). Since these 4 things happen everyday, I never forget, and it guarantees me at least that amount (plus whatever other fluids I drink with meals, at the gym etc). It used to be easier for me to sip water at a desk all day long and stay hydrated, but I find now that I need to make more of a specific point of filling a glass or bottle and drinking it quickly.

  30. Mya on November 5, 2013 at 10:22 am

I like add a TrueLemon packet to the water since it’s easier carry around than a whole lemon.

  31. cynthia friedman on November 5, 2013 at 10:23 am

I love water! But I don’t drink enough of it. I love the idea of throwing this in my bag it makes it so east to drink more water.

  32. Amanda on November 5, 2013 at 10:24 am

I keep a water bottle at my desk and by me bed, it really helps if I always have it within reach so I am constantly reminded to drink!

  33. Kristen on November 5, 2013 at 10:24 am

We bought a sodastream and now “fizzy water” is my go-to drink. Usually I just have it plain, but I bet some berry flavored water would be tasty too!

  34. Julie W on November 5, 2013 at 10:25 am

I don’t know if it can really be called a technique, but I carry a huge 64-ounce water bottle (Cool Gear) with me everywhere I go. It helps me keep track of how much water I’ve drank throughout the day and helps me see how much more I need to drink.

  35. Becki @ Bites 'n Brews on November 5, 2013 at 10:25 am

When I go to any day-long beer fests, I like to load up my 3 liter Camelbak so I’m never stuck searching for the nearest fountain.

  36. Kiersten on November 5, 2013 at 10:26 am

I usually keep a giant water bottle at my desk with me all day. If it’s there, I’ll drink it! At nice restaurants I usually have to tell the waiter to stop filling up my glass because I’ll drink it just as fast as they can fill it if they let me!

  37. JULIE on November 5, 2013 at 10:26 am

I always carry a water bottle with me. When the colder weather hits and cold water is not as appealing, I drink a ton of herbal tea. I bought a Jonathan Alder ceramic cup and take it with me everywhere.

  38. Sylvia on November 5, 2013 at 10:26 am

I think I’m addicted to drinking water with a dash of cranberry juice and lemon slices, I drink that all day long!

  39. Blake on November 5, 2013 at 10:26 am

I carry an aluminum water bottle with me pretty much wherever I go. And except for breakfast, when I drink OJ and coffee, I drink water with every other meal. I also almost always order water when out to eat because, for my health and my budget!

  40. Susan on November 5, 2013 at 10:27 am

I set a goal for how many water bottles I want to get through when I am studying in the library. This would be great for dealing with the college water fountains….nasty.

  41. Alexandra on November 5, 2013 at 10:27 am

My camelback water bottle has been key in helping my meet my daily water intake goal. I used to be terrible about drinking water but now I keep it on my desk at work and refill it all day long.

  42. Susan on November 5, 2013 at 10:28 am
  43. Coby on November 5, 2013 at 10:29 am

I love to buy cute water bottles to get me to drink more water!

  44. Ashley @ Life and Fitness on November 5, 2013 at 10:30 am

I always carry a water bottle with me and make sure I drink it all by midday then fill it up again.

  45. Na'ama on November 5, 2013 at 10:31 am

I make sure to have a fun water bottle next to me at my desk at work! I keep it at work and refill it throughout the day!

  46. Morgan on November 5, 2013 at 10:32 am

I used to drink crystal lite all day long, but now that I’m pregnant, I’ve grown to love slicing up some oranges and putting them into a biiigg bottle of water. That way I can just leave in the slices and refill the bottle all day at work! also, the citrus helps with my morning sickness!!

  47. K. Stark on November 5, 2013 at 10:32 am

I drink 8 ounces of water at the top of the hour. It isn’t a perfect system, but it works for me : )

  48. Erin W on November 5, 2013 at 10:32 am

I cut up lemons and limes to throw in my water throughout the day at work – def. helps with consuming more water!
