Everydrop Water Filter (+ a giveaway!)

[This post is sponsored from Whirlpool® Water. Of course, all opinions are my own. Read on for more details + a giveaway for a lucky reader to get their own EveryDrop™ Water Filter + a $100 gift card!]

I’ve gotten away from my number-focused ways. There was a time when I counted calories judiciously, knew my weight and body fat percentage, and recorded various numbers in a notebook… or let them run wild in my brain. I haven’t weighed myself for months (and prefer to go by how my clothes fit) and no longer keep track of all the little details. The only thing I track now is something that has a huge impact on my skin, energy levels and metabolism: water intake. I have a big Nalgene bottle (32 oz.) and make sure I fill it at least three times throughout the day. (You need 96 oz. of water a day to live– more if you’re active!) Everydrop 1 of 1 4

I always have my water bottle with me, and pack one up for Livi too since she loves to drink water all day. Even when I travel, I’ll put an empty large water bottle in my backpack and fill it once I get through security. It’s better than buying plastic bottles, and this way, I have a water bottle for my trip. Here’s the thing, though: when I travel, the water kind of sketches me out. I’m always hearing about different things that can be found in the water system -ok, and I was traumatized when I read an article about some things that were found in Tucson- so I always figure: the more filtration, the better. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when Whirlpool Water offered to send me an EveryDrop Water Filter to try out. It was much smaller than I imagined, Everydrop 1 of 1 and came in a cute travel case. Everydrop 1 of 1 2 I quickly assembled it, and couldn’t wait to try it out: Everydrop 1 of 1 3 Something that surprised me was how quickly the water came out! It would be so easy to use this between a public water fountain and my bottle. Everydrop 1 of 1 5 In reality, I don’t see myself carrying it around with us all the time -I have too much to lug around as is -but it is definitely something I’ll use while traveling. If you’d like to win your own + a $100 Visa gift card, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post with techniques you use to drink more water. I have a few in this post, but my all-time favorite is to infuse it with fresh fruit and herbs.  You can get up to two entries by completing any of the methods below!

Wow this looks awesome!! Would definitely be put into good use at my gym. The water fountains are a little scary looking. I’m a huge water drinker and am a big fan of spicing things up with lemon, cucumber, mint, and chia seeds! I also carry around a big Nalgene and try to aim for 4 a day.

    • Captain Comptition on November 5, 2013 at 1:28 pm

A friend introduced me to cucumber infused water. I also have a huge mint plant and may try that suggestion.

  2. Jen on November 5, 2013 at 12:18 pm

I have a Camelbak water bottle and love it. I often though of buying the Brita water bottles with the built in filter, I have crohn’s and for some reason unfiltered water tastes funky to me. water really is the best thing for your skin. I love using fresh or frozen fruit to infuse mine, frozen is great in the summer and bonus you get to eat the fruit after!

  3. Beth on November 5, 2013 at 12:18 pm

I carry a 32 oz bottle with me at all times and time it out through the day. I aim to drink the first 32 oz before lunch, the second 32 oz before I leave work, and then drink another 16 oz after work. Infusing it with a little lemon, lime or herbs makes it tasty too!

  4. Melanie on November 5, 2013 at 12:19 pm

I love drinking hot water with lemon in the mornings – I hear that it is a good way to clean out the system and it gets me off to a good start with my water drinking for the day.

  5. Kath on November 5, 2013 at 12:20 pm

I am happy to get to 64oz a day!! I think I would drown at 96!! To get to my 64 though, I usually grab a bottle (16.9oz) when I leave and drink that on my way to work. At work I can fill my Nalgene and drink that through out the day (plus some coffee). Then I try to have another bottle at the gym and when I get home. I don’t always hit my goal, but just having it in reach helps tremendously!

  6. Alexa on November 5, 2013 at 12:20 pm

I can definitely tell a difference on the days that I am keeping up on my water intake and the days when I’m slacking. I the to make side I drink 32 oz early in the morning to start my day and then make sure I refill my bottle around three more times a day.

  7. tiffany on November 5, 2013 at 12:23 pm

this may not be the best, but i often use powdered drink mixes to get myself to drink more water. i always dilute them waaaay down though!

  8. Mirna on November 5, 2013 at 12:23 pm

I bring a big water bottle with me to work and make sure it’s empty before leaving and I drink a big glass of water when first waking up and another before leaving to work.

  9. Jen on November 5, 2013 at 12:24 pm

I typically only drink water or coffee during the day. I try to keep coffee to the am, but have recently made myself finish 32oz of water before I drink the coffee. One trick to help me drink more water is it eat something spicy- load up some siracha! So far it is working… I also make sure to consume 32 oz of water during my workout as well.

  10. Allison on November 5, 2013 at 12:24 pm

I try to drink a big glass of water in the morning before I have coffee to start the day. I also bring a reusable bottle with me almost everywhere I go during the day.

  11. Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine on November 5, 2013 at 12:25 pm

By certain times of the day I make sure I have reached a certain point in my minimum of 100oz a day!

  12. Katherine on November 5, 2013 at 12:25 pm

My favourite way to drink more water is tea! I bring a thermos pretty much wherever I go, and keep a stash of herbal tea bags at work for the perfect afternoon pick-me-up! In the summer I make a mean apple-mint iced tea too. So. Good.

  13. Meagan K on November 5, 2013 at 12:26 pm

I add lime or lemon juice to my water. I also find using a straw sometimes helps me to drink more!

  14. Jennifer on November 5, 2013 at 12:28 pm

Hi Gina! Whenever I feel hungry I take a second to be sure I’m not dehydrated and understand if I actually need water instead of snack. If I’m hungry, I have water along with whatever I’m munching. To start the day I have a big glass of ice water while I’m making coffee.
Hope your knee is still on the mend and you’re continuing to feel great.

  15. Kristen B on November 5, 2013 at 12:28 pm

I keep a bottle of water on my desk all day as a constant reminder to drink more! Since I’m active, I also try and drink 24oz at each mealtime.

  16. Elle on November 5, 2013 at 12:31 pm

I carry my water bottle with me everywhere. I feel lost without it. I use the kind with the built in filter because, not only does it make me feel better about the quality of water i’m drinking, I think it makes the water taste much better.

  17. Sneha on November 5, 2013 at 12:32 pm

The water here in Raleigh is a lil less cleaner than I would want it to be( you might know by your experience living in Fayetteville! ) This device looks so cool and sleek! I would love to have one.

Ive heard different recommendations though— some say “drink half your body weight in ounces” , while you say drink close to 100 ounces a day… I guess your recc is a lil better because that’s more water than the first option. Slow and steady is the way I suppose!

I fill up about 3 different bottles and keep them cool so I can reach for them any time. Two if them are Voss bottles and one is a BPA free plastic one— all good BPA free options. Hydration is key.

  18. Corie on November 5, 2013 at 12:33 pm

I always carry my water bottle with me as well. I try to drink the full thing by my lunch break, fill it up again for the afternoon and have that one done by the end of the work day. Then when I go home I usually have a glass of water with dinner and one before bed as well.

  19. Kelster on November 5, 2013 at 12:35 pm

I add lemon juice to my water. I drink a lot more that way.

  20. Ally on November 5, 2013 at 12:35 pm

I always have my water bottle with me and fill it up wherever I can.

  21. Neena on November 5, 2013 at 12:36 pm

I freeze fruit (strawberries, cherries, grapes, cubes of melon and pineapple, slices of citrus, etc.) and pop them in my water glass instead of ice. I love the flavor and even through the fruit starts to disintegrate and get a bit strange at the bottom of the glass, I pretty much love it anyway. It keeps me drinking water knowing that I get a piece of water-logged fruit to chew on at the end. It’s strange, but it works for me.

  22. Helena on November 5, 2013 at 12:37 pm

sadly, i think my apt water is sketchy so i had to buy water all the time so id love to have something more green.

  23. Jan H on November 5, 2013 at 12:39 pm

I have a 28 oz stainless steel bottle that I wash at night and put by my keys to refill before leaving in the morning. I drink it in the car at stoplights, between errands, etc. I’m in the car a lot, so it’s a way to have water with me and not worry about plastic bottles heated in the sun. And I can carry it into places with me. Add ice in the summer to keep the water cold.

  24. Danielle on November 5, 2013 at 12:39 pm

I love water with lemon, orange, or lime. I am constently drinking water to refresh and refuel.

  25. Step on November 5, 2013 at 12:40 pm

I carry a water bottle everywhere I go so I remember to drink. Also I don’t drink anything other than water and a cup of coffee in the morning.

  26. Nicole F. on November 5, 2013 at 12:41 pm

I’m a huge believer in drinking water first thing in the morning before any coffee or tea to rehydrate from the night and this just kind of sets me in motion to finish a few of my 32oz bottles a day. Although, since it’s been in the 40s lately and cold water is less appealing, I am perpetually drinking tea! Great giveaway : )

  27. Laura @ She Eats Well on November 5, 2013 at 12:48 pm

I just moved and have been looking for a good water filter! Hooray.

  28. Beverly Aragon on November 5, 2013 at 12:48 pm

I leave the house with a gallon of water every day. I try to have more than half of it consumed by lunch, and be close to finishing it off by dinner. I used to be able to drink the whole darn gallon without any problems, but lately I’ve been lucky to get halfway through it on a good day. Yikes…definitely slacking in the hydration department!

  29. april on November 5, 2013 at 12:49 pm

i stay hydrated by always carrying a water bottle with me! i’ve noticed that i’m not as thirsty anymore since it’s getting cooler, but i still make sure to refill my bottle several times a day to ensure that i’m properly hydrated. 🙂

  30. Melinda Gonzalez on November 5, 2013 at 12:49 pm

At the hospital I work at, we have a huge water cooler. Every employee brings their favorite fruit, and we throw them all in the water cooler with water and ice. It makes for some delicious and interesting drink flavors! It also motivates ALL OF US to drink more water. Sometimes we have so much fruit it jams the water spout. We just give it a shake, and were back in business.

Also, to drink more water on my own, I add pure lemon juice. The lemon is soooo cool and refreshing – that it makes me drink a lot of water. I use Santa Cruz pure lemon juice, the only ingredient is lemon! I’m way too lazy to cut fresh lemons :), but this is just as good. I also know lemon is good for cleansing and metabolism, so it makes me even more motivated.

  31. Shaina Anderson on November 5, 2013 at 12:54 pm

This is so cool, I’ve never seen one of these! Perfect for airports…I’m always sketched out by the water fountains and end up spending more on my water bottles than my food haha. We travel a lot since my family is all on the east coast so this would be perfect!

I’m usually pretty good about drinking water but if I’m cold I’m not as good about it. I’ve started heating up my water in the tea kettle in the morning and adding a squeeze of fresh lemon to get me going. During the summer I love to add fresh mint and berries. I need to come up with a good fall flavor combo… hmm, project for this afternoon!

  32. Christy L. on November 5, 2013 at 12:57 pm

I have two Nalgene bottles that I fill up each morning, and my goal is to drink through both of them by the end of the day. I also randomly drink other stuff throughout the day, so I’m doing pretty well if I can get them both down. I do much better if it’s cold water with lemon, but it’s hard to maintain that at work, especially when I’m on the road. I’m actually at home on bedrest at the end of my pregnancy now, so I have been drinking SO much water because I have ready access to all my stuff and I’m not busy all day! 🙂

  33. Emily on November 5, 2013 at 1:03 pm

I alternate drinking plain and water flavored with Mio Fit to make sure I am staying hydrated.

  34. Jennifer T on November 5, 2013 at 1:08 pm

This post came at a perfect time, my goal this week is to drink all the water! I’ve been slacking lately. To help me out I have been starting the day by drinking a big glass of water before my cup of coffee. I also keep a reusable water bottle filled on my desk at work, but that filter would be so helpful for refills at work, since the only sink I have access to is in the bathroom and that sketches me out!

  35. Aarib on November 5, 2013 at 1:13 pm

I make sure to have my “baby” (my awesome water bottle) with me at all times. I do the airport security trick too and since I started, no longer get flying headaches. I have to fill it up 4 times a day and I drink La Croix coconut when I need a little something special.

  36. Kristen on November 5, 2013 at 1:17 pm

I try to drink a lot of water since I often like to “bored eat” and I definitely feel fuller when I drink more water. I pretty much always have a full water bottle (with a straw) in front of me at work. If its in front of me, I will drink it! I also fill a bottle of water to drink on my way in to work. It occupies my drive (30 minutes), and helps kick start my day!

Having this filter would be great since I’m going to Germany and Italy in a few weeks!

I tweeted about this awesome giveaway! I’ll be travelling starting in January, so this would be perfect 🙂 https://twitter.com/FitnessalaAnna/status/397792240220651520

  38. Anna @ Fitness Ă  la Anna on November 5, 2013 at 1:29 pm

I have a 24oz water bottle that I make sure to fill up 3 times while I’m at work, and then also drink at least a glass of water in the morning and a couple at night. I don’t really like drinking juice or milk, so sometimes I throw in a couple of lemon slices or mint to spice it up a bit 🙂

  39. Nichole on November 5, 2013 at 1:31 pm

This is great! I recently found out I am pregnant 🙂 and have been looking for a good water filter so I can keep drinking all day long. I too have a 32oz water bottle that I fill all day but sometimes I am places where the water sketches me out as well. Would love to try this new water filter. Thanks!

  40. Coleen on November 5, 2013 at 1:35 pm

I try to make sure I have a filled water bottle with me at all times. I am in outside sales so I always make sure to have one with me in the car and start on a new bottle when I get home.

I am totally creeped out by public water fountains so this might help me overcome that.

  41. Kelsey on November 5, 2013 at 1:35 pm

One trick I use is to always make sure I drink a full glass of water before having my coffee in the morning! It keeps me motivated because I need the caffeine! I need to be better about bringing my water bottle with me though.

  42. Beth on November 5, 2013 at 1:36 pm

This water filter looks awesome! I do not like the taste of our tap water so I would love to win this. Water with a little lemon in it is my favorite!

  43. Caitlin on November 5, 2013 at 1:39 pm

This would be so great for traveling, airport water fountains never taste quite right. I always have to have a water bottle with me. I am obsessed with the Camelbak water bottles. I keep it at my desk and its great to have a bottle that won’t spill all over my computer if (when) I knock it over. I try to go through one full bottle before lunch and one after. I won’t let myself go to lunch or leave work until the whole bottle is finished, its great motivation.

  44. Brittany M on November 5, 2013 at 1:40 pm

I ALWAYS have a glass of water with me when I’m at home. My sister is the same way and it drives our mom crazy because there will be half empty water glasses everywhere. It definitely helps to just keep some near by though. This filter would be so convenient! I have to take a massive water bottle to work with me because I don’t want to drink the water from the faucet. I’ve considered getting a water bottle with a filter built in but I’d prefer something like the every drop filter instead.

  45. Michelle on November 5, 2013 at 1:44 pm

I fill big mason jars with different kinds of fruit and/or herbs, then fill the jars with water. I love opening the fridge and seeing all the different fruits in the jars, suspended in the water. The flavor they give the water helps me drink it so I it doesn’t feel as boring as plain water does sometimes.

  46. Kayla on November 5, 2013 at 1:44 pm

I ALWAYS have a water bottle with me and try to drink one full bottle every 3 hours.

  47. Kathryn on November 5, 2013 at 1:49 pm

I carry a water bottle around with me everywhere! It drives my hubby nuts lol

  48. melissa on November 5, 2013 at 1:52 pm

i am known for my many nalgenes…. this is how i monitor my water intake!

  49. Lisa on November 5, 2013 at 1:53 pm

I add orange peel and mint leaves or a tiny bit of fruit juice to my water .

  50. Angie H. on November 5, 2013 at 1:54 pm

Ice! It’s not always practical or available, but I find that colder water is easier to drink than something lukewarm.
