Polar Loop Review + giveaway time!
Hi friends! Hope you’re enjoying the long weekend <3 We’re driving back to Tucson after a fun and crazy weekend of house hunting and Disneyland. I’ll be back with my normal(ish) posting in the morning!
In the meantime, how ’bout a giveaway??
(Bella, wishing the loop came in her size, even though 19 hours of the day are spent lounging in between sprinting)

Quite a while ago, I was contacted about reviewing a Polar Loop. I was really stoked because it was something I’d been wanting to try, and even more exciting because it included a giveaway opportunity. In the meantime, I had already ordered another fitness tracker that was on the way. For the purposes of this post, I’m not able to do a side by side comparison, but hopefully my feedback will help you make the best decision for your lifestyle. There are pros and cons to the various types out there; it’s really about determining the best model for your needs.
I didn’t really become intrigued with fitness trackers until I started teaching at the resort. A TON of guests would walk into class with their respective gadgets, and as a techie curious person (not capable, just curious haha) I was definitely interested in the various types. When I stopped teaching at the resort, I was looking for ways to gauge my activity since I spent a lot more time seated throughout the day. I quickly noticed that it can be extremely challenging to get in the daily recommended 10,000 steps, especially when you don’t live in a walking-friendly city. (This is even when you’re chasing around a very active toddler!) Fitness trackers are a nice reminder to add some bursts of activity throughout the day, and can also provide some insightful data about habits and patterns.
One thing that excited me the most about the Polar Loop is that it’s compatible with Polar heart rate straps. I’d been a heart rate monitor fans for many years -especially while I was pregnant- and I knew I’d love the ability to sync the tracker during my workouts. My other fitness tracker counted “steps” via arm movements, so even when I was working out (especially with yoga, spinning and strength training) I knew my previous tracker was inaccurate. I’d be waving my arm around on the spin bike to get in my steps for the day 😉 The Loop seems to be more accurate, especially for workouts.
The first thing that alarmed me about the Loop was the size.
Thankfully, the Pilot was able to snip and reattach it. After that, it fit like a charm. I plugged it into my computer to charge and downloaded the app on my computer and phone.
Some things I noticed after a week or so of wearing:
Cons:
-No alarm! If this had an alarm of some type, it would be my perfect fitness tracker.
-The size. Even after fitting the band to my wrist, it’s still pretty thick. The simple band isn’t too much of an eyesore, but I’d love a daintier band.
-Basic sleep data. I wish it provided more info on my sleep patterns throughout the night. It gives me the duration but that’s pretty much it.
Pros:
-Longer battery life. I was pleasantly surprised with how long the Loop lasted without needing to be charged.
-Display. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it, but I LOVE being able to see steps, calories, time and activity right there on the wristband. For this reason, I didn’t drain the battery by synching it to my phone throughout the day.
-Heart rate monitor! I feel like this tracker is one of the most accurate versions if you’re going to be wearing it for everyday + workouts. It tells you your workout duration, time in the fat burning zone and fitness zone, and is extremely easy to use. It’s like the best of both worlds for heart rate monitors and fitness trackers. Also, because it’s a Polar brand, many cardio machines will sync and display your heart rate on the screen. Since it had been a while (since I was preg!) from the last time I’d used a HRM, I found that I was totally slacking on some of my workouts and could up the intensity. (cough, watching Downton Abbey on the spin bike, cough)
All in all, I’m really happy with the Loop. I’ll be wearing it from now on, especially on the days I work out.

This is awesome! I’ve been a Polar HR Monitor fan for years and I love this spin on it!
I try to get a workout in 5-6 days a week. I also try to stand throughout the day while at work. Too much sitting makes me feel lazy!
I find it crazy that even after running around with my preschooler, it is hard to hit the 10K steps/day. I guess I sit more than I realize!
Always take the stairs, park far away and walk (rather than drive) when ever possible!
Like you I have a Polar HR monitor that I use for all of my workouts, but this would just add the extra motivation throughout the day! Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
I work out most days of the week, but I also park my car farther when I go shopping, I dance while I cook/roast veggies, and I walk to the grocery store.
I have been looking into these. It would be great to keep track of fat burning zone.
I get in extra activity by walking to the park with my son and walking to the stores that are nearby instead of driving!
I would love to try this out!
As a teacher I’d love to track my walking throughout the day!
I always try and park the first spot I see no matter how far from the entrance it is.
I would love to win! My favorite way to sneak in extra activity is walking on the treadmill instead of standing or sitting as I wait for my son’s bus to pull up after school.
I have been wanting to try this! I am in medical school and I have to park across the street and walk all the way through the hospital to get to my classes. It can be a pain sometimes but it’s a great way to get some extra walking in (especially when I spend most of the day sitting and studying!).
I’d definitely take my dog on longer walks, best for both of us!
I try and do lots of little things to get in extra movement. The snow and cold makes it pretty impossible to do anything outside. I try and park father away when shopping, clean up around the house instead of sitting and get in walking breaks at work. I can’t wait for warmer weather so I can get outside more!
I have an office job but my super boss was nice enough to buy me a counter height desk so I can stand all day. I always take the stairs instead of the elevator and I don’t park in the parking lot so I can get some extra walking in. I love my Polar HRM so I’m excited to learn they have a fitness tracker!!!
My daughter and I go for walks and try to walk to run errands if possible.
To fit in extra activity I do squats or lunges while cooking dinner in the evening. I also almost always take the stairs.
I take the stairs and I park farther away from the entrance of places!
I’d love a fitness tracker! I think it would help quash my excuses regarding being too tired from working so hard at my job, which leads to after-work-gym-skippage…or maybe I’d find out I work (physically) as hard as I think I do!
I walk to and from work…that way I always feel like I’ve at least done something.
What an awesome giveaway, especially since my hubby and I have just started looking into getting monitors. One thing I do is park farther away in the parking lot. I think the extra steps are worth it and another bonus is that not as many people do this so you can avoid car dings. 🙂
I could use some extra activity! I can try to take the stairs at work and maybe longer walks with the dog.
need to try this! :O
Try to walk the pups everyday, even just around the block. Can’t wait til it’s lighter out longer after work!
I have an office job and I try to get up every hour to get water or go to the bathroom. I am still working on getting a standing desk…
I’d love to win…I’m in my 2nd trimester, and would like to safely up my activity throughout the day. A fitness tracker would be an excellent tool for this!
i’ve been walking to the grocery store in the city almost every other day to pick up a few groceries at a time, encouraging more produce and lots more walking!
I walk between buildings and take the stairs everywhere. I also go window shopping over my lunch quite a bit and I walk around all the nearby stores.
I always take the stairs when I can…and I walk to my mailbox (which is around the block from my house) instead of driving to it everyday!
I would love to win this as I am pregnant and need to be watching my heart rate.
I would love to try out the Polar Loop! It looks awesome!
I have been wanting a fitness tracker for sometime now. I would love the extra push from seeing my stats on he app.
I like to use the stairs as often as possible, even just going up and down during a break. Also, drinking lots of water = lots of walking to the bathroom. 🙂
I always take the stairs. As silly as it seems, I drink a lot of water, because that means lots of trip to the restroom. I also take nightly walks with my husband, so we can catch up from the day and get in a little exercise.
I use the stairs to and from the parking garage at work and at all buildings.
I’m just getting back to exercise after having a baby and this would be so awesome!!!! If it accounted for breast feeding that would be even more awesome, haha.
Thanks for the reviews, I am looking to get a tracker soon 🙂
I always skip the escalator and take the stairs!
I always bring my lunch to work with me, yet during the lunch break I go wandering around shops and supermarket (even though I don’t need anything) instead of staying in to eat.
P. S. It doesn’t say the giveaway is open only to US residents, but just in case it is, I am sorry for taking up the space! (living in Lithuania has its negative side)
This is an awesome way to track activity throughout the day!
I would love this! I’m excited that it seems more accurate than some of the other brands.
I always use stairs instead of elevators. AND I take the stairs 2 at a time…GLUTES!
Xxx
I like to walk away from my desk for a bit and walk in place. It may look crazy, but it gets the job done 🙂
now that I have a pup, I find that I walk so much more! walks are definitely the best way to fit in more activity because I don’t have to change/sweat/shower and interrupt my whole day.
I would LOVE to have an activity tracker as I have a full-time job at the office!
As an au pair, I try to walk the baby daily. Next to that, I also wake up a little earlier in the morning to go for a run. I’m studying at night and chose to add a weight lifting class amongst my other classes.
I always try to walk somewhere of its a mile or less.
I always take the stairs. I will also walk to stores that are a mile away instead of driving.
I have a one week old so this would be a great thing to help me get back in shape! I try to take a daily walk and I try to make effort to take more steps at work. (I’m a nurse so I walk A LOT!)
