{Video Post} FAQs

Hi friends 😀 How are you? Hope you’re having a fabulous morning.

Here’s the little FAQ video we wanted to do for you guys 🙂 (The list of questions we picked from were on *this post*)

The topics we chose for this video:

-Our ethnicities

-Do we do a joint bank account or separate?

-The Pilot’s tips for someone about to start pilot training

-How I decide what to blog and what not to blog

-Food we couldn’t live without

-Who hogs the covers

-Future family plans

Only one futon was hurt in the making of this 😉 <— blooper at the end

Some more Q & A fun:

image

It would seem counterintuitive, because my Pilot eats enough for a family of 4, but I’m MORE motivated the workout and eat well when he’s home. Remember the whole “feeling like a nun” think I mentioned while he’s away? Well since I don’t have to worry about that when he’s home, it makes me want to eat better and workout ;)

image

I don’t have a *regular* workout routine- I think that’s what causes boredom to set in (I get bored so easily!) and keeps me from getting stuck in a rut. Sunday is pretty much my planning day- I’ll plan out my workout schedule for the week, meals for the week (just dinner ideas + a few lunches, bfasts are pretty standard over here), and tentative blog ideas for the week.

As far as the workout thang goes, I almost always dance at least 5x per week. I’ll combine in some weights (or Bodyrock) and yoga according to what my schedule is like. I’ve found that weights/Bodyrock dance and yoga is a great mix for me right now 🙂

I really do believe that living a vegan lifestyle is the best thing one can do for the planet. However, it can be very, very difficult for some people to get the nutrients they need on a vegan diet. I’m one of those people. My body doesn’t thrive on a totally vegan diet, but does extremely well on a high plant-based diet with a sprinkle of goat cheese, fish, eggs and very occasional chicken thrown in. [You can read more about why I decided to bring chicken back *here*]

I figure that since I choose not to be a full-time vegan, by eating vegan-ish sometimes, and using my shopping cart as my voting ballot –if there’s a certified organic option, I always buy that over conventional- that’s my way of helping the planet and my body.

Pilot: I don’t mind at all. It really doesn’t affect me because she usually makes a “pilot” version of the food she’s eating (i.e. adding chicken or other organic meats to the meal). Other than that, I don’t mind eating meatless now and then because a lot of those foods are so healthy and I’m pretty open to new foods.

image

I’m so sorry to hear that you were in a similar situation. Mine was pretty traumatizing, and it took me probably a year after dating the Pilot until I was “normal” again. My self esteem was so messed up, and when I first started seeing the Pilot, I put up a lot of walls. I was so afraid of getting hurt again, and thought for sure that he was “too nice.” I kept waiting for him to go pyschopath like my previous boyfriend, but it obviously never happened 😉

I think my biggest piece of advice is to be patient with yourself. I also really wish I would have practiced yoga at that time in my life because I think it would have helped me. The Pilot is the kindest, most patient person I’ve ever met, so he was extra sweet and patient with me which helped my fear of commitment to melt away, until I became myself again.

Just be confident that there’s someone out there that will make you feel like a queen, and help you get through and forget the hurt you’ve been through <3

image

No. Hahaha. I’ve begged, but I think the most I’ll get out of him is “spectator.”

Well we’re off to meet with the realtor! See ya later today 🙂

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about:

Your turn! 😀

-Food you can’t live without

-Do you -or would you choose to, if you’re not attached- roll with joint or separate bank accounts?

-How many kids do you want?

Fun to watch. You and the pilot are super cute together!

  2. Kimberly on March 29, 2011 at 3:34 pm

bahahaha!! you guys are too funny! <3 the blooper! Super excited to see the goat!!

Check out his hilarious video of an ibex (kind of looks like a llama w horns) on a farm! Caution: You will pee. 🙂 I think the gentleman is speaking espanol as well, gina, so maybe you can brush up on your skills and translate to the pilot! 🙂

    Cheers!

Awww, GRETA! Too cute. I have a dog named Gertie (Gertrude) and we want to add a second pup to the mix and call her Greta. So I obviously love the name. Haha.

-A tie for foods I can’t live without: bananas & dark chocolate. Preferably together.
-We do a joint account for rent/bills/couple purchases, etc. but maintain small separate accounts for “fun” money. You know, so I don’t feel guilty after I do a little damage at J. Crew 😉
-I think 2-3 kids is perfect.

    Have a good day!

Too cute! I enjoyed your video.

    I couldn’t live without bread.

My husband and I have joint accounts, which is great because I don’t have a job. Ha! Even when I did work, we did the joing thing. However, my husband as a seperate checking account to use while he’s away training for an upcoming deployment. He’s a ‘geographical bachelor’ so that account covers his living expenses and gas, etc.

We have an only child. She’s nine and I have no desire to re do the baby stage. All along I only wanted one, but my husband would have preferred at least two. However, he’s gone a LOT and I’m left with much of the solo parenting, so we went with one. She’s perfect though…and it would be nearly impossible to duplicate such perfection. 😉

Sorry about the double post. I tried to catch a few spelling errors, but I didn’t act quickly enough. My apologies!

  6. Jenny on March 29, 2011 at 3:41 pm

Your blooper on that video is hilarious! I laughed out loud…too cute! As for food, I cannot live without fruit…all kinds of fruit. I have been known to eat whole cantaloupes and pineapples in a single sitting!

As for kids…a goat sounds great, but I think I’ll stick with two leggeded friends. 4 to be exact if I’m lucky. I do happen to have a rooster in my yard pretty frequently. I live in a city too. My neighbor has two in his backyard that like to roam over to my sprinkler a lot. I have nicknamed them henry and henrietta. I have no idea if they are boys or girls, but I like the names! 🙂

  7. Elyse on March 29, 2011 at 3:49 pm

    1. I couldn’t live without hummus, goat cheese (you got me addicted!), and milk.
    2. I think the boyfriend and I are going to roll with joint accounts when we get married. All the money is going to the same place anyways.
    3. I think that we’ll end up having around 2 or 3. I am hoping for all boys because girls are tough cookies.

  8. Brenda@Year25 on March 29, 2011 at 3:57 pm

    1. I couldn’t live without milk. It’s the one item that’s on the grocery list every week. About a year ago, the milk I drank went from being conventionally produced milk to local and organic milk! I’m loving the local stuff!
    2. My husband and I have a joint bank account. Without it, he would undoubtedly spend a fortune at Bass Pro Shop while I would have the newest COACH purse every season. With a joint account, we keep each other in check to make sure we always have enough for the essentials!
    3. As for kids, who knows. That’s up to God. I will hopefully have at least one adopted babe in the bunch!

  9. hippierunner on March 29, 2011 at 3:59 pm

You guys have such great chemistry, it made the video really fun to watch! But I will admit I cringed a little when I heard the Pilot say he eats ‘typical guy stuff like steak’. The whole ‘men need meat’ thing is so funny to me, especially since my best friend and my boyfriend are both guys who don’t eat meat.

No se about how many kids I want but I do know I couldn’t live without pizza and we definitely go with joint account. I think it just makes sense to share!

  10. Katie on March 29, 2011 at 4:00 pm

lol! The bloopers are the best part! I stay in the theater when a movie ends just to see if there are bloopers, while everyone else runs out ; )

Awww baby goat!!!! How adorable!!! Ummmmmm Pilot siad you guys could name your first chile after me , so can it be Katie ?! : ) lol , kidding! I do want to be the GoatMother a.k.a Godmother !

Have a fun day! xoxo <3

    so cute! loved watching this!

  13. Tami on March 29, 2011 at 4:04 pm

It must be so nice to have him home

  14. Jessica on March 29, 2011 at 4:12 pm

    -Food you can’t live without

Chickpeas! Love to eat the plain or as hummus!

-Do you -or would you choose to, if you’re not attached- roll with joint or separate bank accounts?

My husband and I have a joint checking and savings account. Though I recently opened up a separate savings account for myself.

-How many kids do you want?

Honestly, I have no idea if I even want any… so we’ll see!

  15. April on March 29, 2011 at 4:34 pm

Loved your video, too cute and fun to get to ‘know’ you two better:=

-Food i cannot live without = Bread, hands down.
-My hubby and i have seperate accts and it works for us. For some reason (i know sounds dumb) but i feel more independent with my own acct…we’re gonna roll with it until we need to join ’em together.
-Kiddos, we have one on the way so i can’t think beyond that right now:)

  16. ashmastandrea on March 29, 2011 at 4:48 pm

That vid was cute! Good job!

I love that little Bella is a bed hog…so is our dog. She’s only 30 pounds but manages to get the most space and best sleep every night!

Food I can’t give up: sweet potatoes and pizza!
My boyfriend and I have lived together for 2 years now and split everything, have separate accounts. This will probably changed once we get married and have kids because I plan to be a stay at home mama! I’m shooting for 3 kids, so I told him we need to get started in the next 2 years (I’m 26 next month)!

Can’t wait to hear about Greta…apparently goats are less to take care of than dogs!

  17. Alison on March 29, 2011 at 4:55 pm

Gina, I actually have a question/comment for you: The picture that is on the right of your main blog page (looks like a fondue stick?) When was that taken? You look so much better now, and I feel that are extremely thin looking in that photo. Good to know you are taking better care of yourself these days!
*Of course it could be the angle of the photo too**

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:42 pm

it was taken almost 4 years ago, when i still didn’t have the maintenance thing down. i weighed about 10 lbs less then, but wear the same size clothes now

  18. sarah (sarah learns) on March 29, 2011 at 4:57 pm

i literally lol’ed at the end of the video! it was so cute! 🙂 i’m a cover-hog too, gina. my fiance gets so mad at me! also, the pilot says ‘ya know’ a lot. i started laughing every time he said it.

i couldn’t live without cheese. any cheese. but i’ll always need cheese in my life! 🙂

  19. Allison on March 29, 2011 at 4:57 pm

Even before kids, my husband and I had joint accounts. I do understand the reasons for keeping things separate, but I just think this becomes much more complicated after children arrive. Yes, expenses for the kids can go into the joint account, but what if one spouse stays home with the kids? or even just takes unpaid maternity leave (which would certainly be the case with bloggers)? And to me, at least, there is something about making the commitment to be married for life that doesn’t totally get keeping so much separation. But to each their own. Everyone just needs to figure out what works for them.

  20. Melissa on March 29, 2011 at 5:03 pm

Loved the video! You totally talk like someone from Tucson, I am from Ttown too! I know we think we don’t have accents, but we definitely have a “style” of talk. 🙂

    Food- Daiya Vegan Cheese
Bank- I dont care as long as we agree
    Kids- 4!

    Have a beautiful day!

  21. Oceanchica on March 29, 2011 at 5:06 pm

Love the video! You guys are so cute. 🙂

    1. Tough one, I think I have to go with strawberries and tomatoes! Especially tomato, I use it in pretty much anything…
    2. Hubby and I have been married nearly 6 years and never once thought it would be a good idea to have a joint account. Especially as when I moved to the UK I had no credit, so had to build it up and if we had joint accounts it would have affected his amazing credit score!
    3. Definitely one kiddo at some point, maybe 2, but no more than that. We just keep pushing it back as we aren’t ready and it’s fun just being us for now!

  22. Pure2Raw Twins on March 29, 2011 at 5:06 pm

Great video! Foods we can not live without would be hemp seeds and avocados! I would love to have 2-3 kids 😉 maybe twins too, haha

  23. Karen on March 29, 2011 at 5:06 pm

  24. Little Bookworm on March 29, 2011 at 5:08 pm

Great video Gina and the Pilot! Congrats on adopting a goat and love the name Greta! It sounds really cute. Funny blooper at the end as well. 🙂

  25. Allison @ Food For Healing on March 29, 2011 at 5:09 pm

awesome video, you look sooo happy with the pilot by your side, i love it.
-Food you can’t live without – cheese, i love cheese.

-Do you -or would you choose to, if you’re not attached- roll with joint or separate bank accounts? We have separate bank accounts, and i think its what works best.. at least for now!

-How many kids do you want? i want about 2 or 3, haven’t decided obviously, still waiting to get married…

  26. Autumn on March 29, 2011 at 5:13 pm

So I’m a newish reader and haven’t commented before but felt compelled because this was so fun to watch!

-food I can’t live without would probably be nut butters. I eat a nearly vegan diet so I hit those like crazy!
-we do the joint account. Always have. Just makes sense for us I guess. We share everything else so no reason to have the finances separate.
-kiddos, we’ve got three….probably have one more. A little exhausting at times..haha..but so worth it!

  27. Lindsay on March 29, 2011 at 5:22 pm

    loved the blooper. I LOL’d! 😉

  28. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on March 29, 2011 at 5:27 pm

    Bahahaha! LOVED the end!

  29. Lindsay on March 29, 2011 at 5:30 pm

    Cute post!
    – food i can’t live without- nachos! I make vegan nachos with Daiya and I’m super super stoked for the pepper jack to come out!
    – joint bank accounts- the bf and I haven’t really dicussed this yet, but I would say joint.
    – kids- definitely 2. I’m an only child and don’t want to do that to my kids, however, more than 2 seems like a handful. (And expensive!)
    :]

  30. heidi on March 29, 2011 at 5:31 pm

hey there. i am a long time reader, first time commenter. i have a small farm myself and wanted to tell you how excited i am that you are getting a goat. just wanted to let you know that if you plan on getting goat milk, greta would have to have a baby first.

good luck and look forward to your new adventure.

    hip

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:38 pm

thanks so much for saying hi!! 🙂
good to know about that. i don’t want greta to have babies! we shall see what happens

  31. Jenny on March 29, 2011 at 5:33 pm

I can’t believe you are adopting a goat! I can’t even have a plant in my nyc apartment – they just die 🙁

  32. Fallon on March 29, 2011 at 5:34 pm

LOL the futon blooper is classic!

  33. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on March 29, 2011 at 5:40 pm

loved your video! you guys are so cute!

  34. Mel on March 29, 2011 at 5:40 pm

Oh man! That was way too cute 😀 Thanks so much to both of you! Hope you do more in the future!! So funny about Bella being a bed hog. I have a little pekapoo and she is the BIGGEST bed hog EVER. She just picks her spot and boxes us out! Bwahaha! Have a great day!

  35. Kirra S on March 29, 2011 at 5:47 pm

Cute video! I can’t live without roasted brocoli and then also green apples with almond butter. Weird, I know but seriously am grumpy when I do not eat these almost every day and start craving. I tried the Spring Leg Workout – so fun! I am feeling sore in places I want to tone up. I am going to add to my yoga days 3times a week and see what happens.

  36. Jillian on March 29, 2011 at 5:47 pm

Thanks for answering my question Gina!! I have a follow-up. You said you wished you had done yoga during your “healing” stage following your d-bag (my words not yours 😉 ex. What do you think yoga would have done to help you? I’ve only done yoga one time last year and I enjoyed it but haven’t gone back since. I’m more of a zumba and spin kind of girl. What do you think are the major benefits of yoga?

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:37 pm

yoga helps calm me down SO much. i just wish i would have added it into my routine earlier– i’ve seen so many mental and physical benefits from a regular yoga practice

  37. Whitney on March 29, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Haha!! You guys are super cute and I loved the bloopers at the end!

  38. Leslie on March 29, 2011 at 5:51 pm

I loved the video, so cute!

Food I couldn’t live without? oats, yum.
Bank accounts? My husband and I have joint accounts and that totally works great for us —and keeps us in check! 😉
Children? I have one girl, and I am coming to terms (and peace) that I think one is all we’ll have. Our little family is perfect.

  39. Sable @ SquatLikeALady on March 29, 2011 at 5:54 pm

You guys are WAY way way too adorable. Omg.

M & I have separate spending accounts. We save together though — more $, more power! 🙂 haha. We still consult each other on most purchases but I like being able to spend a dollar on an apple without him knowing 😉 (Apples are to me what lattes are to most people. I buy an apple every single day even though I KNOW I could save more by buying the big bag).

Food I couldn’t live without? See above 😉 lol

And children… I lost my first pregnancy and have been told it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever be able to have kids. So I got an IUD for now and am trying to come to peace with the possibility of a child-free life.

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:36 pm

      <3 sending you hugs

  40. Jennifer on March 29, 2011 at 5:57 pm

Food I can’t live without: Padaha(Ukranian name) a.k.a. pierogies. I love making it for holidays and just because with my aunt and mom. The sauerkraut is my favorite; my husband loves the cheesy potatoes kind.

My husband and I have joint account. I just think that being married, what’s his is mine and what’s mine is his. It can be challenging sometimes, communicating purchases that we each have made but we’ve definitely gotten better at communicating and developed a rhythms for paying bills and talking about what to do with the leftover money.

Kids: When my husband and I first started dating and talked about kids, I only wanted two and he wanted six! I come from a family with just two kids and in his family there are five kids. We’ve compromised on this and have said four kids. We’d also like to adopt a child as well when that time comes for us to add on to our family of two(family of three with our cat, Nightfury :))

  41. Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) on March 29, 2011 at 6:09 pm

My can’t-live-without food is goat cheese, too!!

I almost cried my eyes out when I heard I couldn’t have it (pregnant), but learned that if it’s pasteurized, it’s a-ok… phew! Crisis averted 🙂

  42. mary on March 29, 2011 at 6:13 pm

Hey we just got two baby pygmy goats! We love them so much we got a third. They are awesome and so much fun!

  43. Jenn (eating bender) on March 29, 2011 at 6:20 pm

This video had me grinning the entire time. You and the Pilot are so cute together! I love that you are adopting a goat.

Watching this made me wish we lived closer. I would love to someday have dinner with you, me, Bobby and the Pilot. That would be amazeballs.

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:36 pm

yes it would! let us know next time you’re in phoenix 🙂 seasons 52 or true foods might need to happen 😉 oooorrrrr you can just come over and chill at our place?!

  44. Emily on March 29, 2011 at 6:21 pm

Loved the video post! The blooper at the end was hilarious. 🙂

Food I can’t live without is almond butter–you turned me on to it, and now I have it every.single.day. Don’t know how you’re surviving these days without it! Will it make a comeback after easter?

The FI and I have our separate bank accounts and also a joint account–not sure if it’ll stay that way or if it will all merge later on.

Ideally, 2–one girl and 1 boy.

  45. mary e on March 29, 2011 at 6:25 pm

    1) homemade bread
    2) joint beginning when we got engaged
    3) 3??? such a hard thing to nail down. we’ll see how this little nugget goes 🙂

  46. Mary (What's Cookin' with Mary) on March 29, 2011 at 6:37 pm

I looove your video posts! You guys are SO cute together!! The blooper was AWESOME HAHAHA – Soooo, what made you want a pet goat ?? I had a friend in 6th grade who had a pet pig, but never heard of a pet goat 😉

  47. Christie on March 29, 2011 at 6:51 pm

I loved the video – especially the blooper 🙂

1- I wouldn’t want to live without bread. I tried before and I was very sad.
2- we did the separate thing for many years when we first moved in together and later when we married but we combined about 2 years ago and we both get “allowances” plus a separate budget for “family money”. Similar to what KERF & Matt do if you saw her post. It works for us.
3- I don’t know… I always said two but I think I’d like to have one and see how it goes. I may not want any more after that or I may want a bunch…

  48. Cara Craves... on March 29, 2011 at 7:01 pm

Thanks for sharing Gina; this is great!
In response to the questions that you asked at the end…
My husband and I do have joint accounts but we also have our own.
Nothing’s worse than buying a gift for you hubby and them seeing the
receipt show up on the online banking :)Not as fun. The money that
I have in my own account is my “play” money.

We do not have plans to have children for a while. We have been married for
almost 4 years and will probably wait another 4 years…no rush here.
There’s still lots of time for babies; now is for learning, traveling and exploring
    life together.

  49. Emma (Namaste Everyday) on March 29, 2011 at 7:05 pm

    Thanks for answering my question!
Also, I can’t wait to meet the goat 😉

  50. Gina on March 29, 2011 at 7:19 pm

LOVED the video. You two are so cute together; thanks for posting!
