{Video Post} FAQs

Hi friends 😀 How are you? Hope you’re having a fabulous morning.

Here’s the little FAQ video we wanted to do for you guys 🙂 (The list of questions we picked from were on *this post*)

The topics we chose for this video:

-Our ethnicities

-Do we do a joint bank account or separate?

-The Pilot’s tips for someone about to start pilot training

-How I decide what to blog and what not to blog

-Food we couldn’t live without

-Who hogs the covers

-Future family plans

Only one futon was hurt in the making of this 😉 <— blooper at the end

Some more Q & A fun:

image

It would seem counterintuitive, because my Pilot eats enough for a family of 4, but I’m MORE motivated the workout and eat well when he’s home. Remember the whole “feeling like a nun” think I mentioned while he’s away? Well since I don’t have to worry about that when he’s home, it makes me want to eat better and workout ;)

image

I don’t have a *regular* workout routine- I think that’s what causes boredom to set in (I get bored so easily!) and keeps me from getting stuck in a rut. Sunday is pretty much my planning day- I’ll plan out my workout schedule for the week, meals for the week (just dinner ideas + a few lunches, bfasts are pretty standard over here), and tentative blog ideas for the week.

As far as the workout thang goes, I almost always dance at least 5x per week. I’ll combine in some weights (or Bodyrock) and yoga according to what my schedule is like. I’ve found that weights/Bodyrock dance and yoga is a great mix for me right now 🙂

I really do believe that living a vegan lifestyle is the best thing one can do for the planet. However, it can be very, very difficult for some people to get the nutrients they need on a vegan diet. I’m one of those people. My body doesn’t thrive on a totally vegan diet, but does extremely well on a high plant-based diet with a sprinkle of goat cheese, fish, eggs and very occasional chicken thrown in. [You can read more about why I decided to bring chicken back *here*]

I figure that since I choose not to be a full-time vegan, by eating vegan-ish sometimes, and using my shopping cart as my voting ballot –if there’s a certified organic option, I always buy that over conventional- that’s my way of helping the planet and my body.

Pilot: I don’t mind at all. It really doesn’t affect me because she usually makes a “pilot” version of the food she’s eating (i.e. adding chicken or other organic meats to the meal). Other than that, I don’t mind eating meatless now and then because a lot of those foods are so healthy and I’m pretty open to new foods.

image

I’m so sorry to hear that you were in a similar situation. Mine was pretty traumatizing, and it took me probably a year after dating the Pilot until I was “normal” again. My self esteem was so messed up, and when I first started seeing the Pilot, I put up a lot of walls. I was so afraid of getting hurt again, and thought for sure that he was “too nice.” I kept waiting for him to go pyschopath like my previous boyfriend, but it obviously never happened 😉

I think my biggest piece of advice is to be patient with yourself. I also really wish I would have practiced yoga at that time in my life because I think it would have helped me. The Pilot is the kindest, most patient person I’ve ever met, so he was extra sweet and patient with me which helped my fear of commitment to melt away, until I became myself again.

Just be confident that there’s someone out there that will make you feel like a queen, and help you get through and forget the hurt you’ve been through <3

image

No. Hahaha. I’ve begged, but I think the most I’ll get out of him is “spectator.”

Well we’re off to meet with the realtor! See ya later today 🙂

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about:

Your turn! 😀

-Food you can’t live without

-Do you -or would you choose to, if you’re not attached- roll with joint or separate bank accounts?

I think I can’t live without brown rice! It is totally my diet staple!

As for kids, I know I want at least 2 – but maybe more. I think it comes down to my partner, because I know I’d love to have as many as possible (within reason, of course)!

Loved your post today – totally informative and I’m loving reading about your life when the pilot is home!

  2. Steph on March 29, 2011 at 2:19 pm

Awww, you guys are so cute, and Pilot is totally swoon-worthy! The food I can’t live without has to be potatoes. Even before we got married we did the joint account thang too, with separate small accounts for gift-buying & such. And I think I want two kids… time will tell, y’know? None right now!

  3. Jackie @ Baking Charms on March 29, 2011 at 2:20 pm

A goat!!!!! Ahhhhmazing 🙂 What a great video – thanks Tom and Gina!

  4. Joelle on March 29, 2011 at 2:24 pm

LOL! I love that you’re adopting a goat and how you announce it! My cousins had a couple of goats years ago and one for some reason it hated me and attacked me whenever I’d be out in the yard. Congrats on the addition! And good job Bella for the editing 🙂

  5. Babycakes on March 29, 2011 at 2:26 pm

LOVE this video! You two are the cutest things ever 🙂

  6. Maria on March 29, 2011 at 2:26 pm

You guys are TOO cute! Futons are practical, but I feel like they rarely ever last! I did laugh when you guys talked about adopting a pet goat 🙂 Can’t wait for that new addition.

  7. Emily on March 29, 2011 at 2:26 pm

Y’all are adorable. Just had to throw that out there.
    1. I can only pick one?!?! Bananas. with almond butter.
    2. I’ve been dating Big Guy for 3 years and we moved in together about a year ago and we do not have a joint savings account at the moment. But I’m all about having a joint account and then each have separate accounts once he puts a ring on it.
    3. I want 2. I couldn’t imagine not having my brothers and sister so I couldn’t imagine having one child.

  8. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on March 29, 2011 at 2:26 pm

how fun!! Food I can’t live without: oats, chocolate, spinach. We want 4-5 kids 🙂 and we roll with separate bank accounts right now…but maybe change that later? Love the video!!

  9. Holly @ The Runny Egg on March 29, 2011 at 2:26 pm

My speakers aren’t working — I’ll have to watch your video when I get home. But I see in other comments that you are getting a goat — I am super jealous!

Jason and I have joint accounts — one savings and one checking — our paychecks go in and we pay bills from there. More than that would be too much work!

I used to want 4-5 kids, right now I’m thinking 1-2.

I had to google “preguntas y respuestas” — I thought preguntas was so close to pregnant and I was afraid I was missing the announcement in your video! 🙂

  10. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on March 29, 2011 at 2:26 pm

Hahaha love the goat comment!! You guys are great, and I think this is one of my favourite blog posts! I think I want 2 kids because I wouldn’t want the first one to be lonely! Food I can’t live without? This is going to sound very very odd, but carrots and apples! They’re my go-to portable snacks!

  11. Ashley @ Feeding Ashley on March 29, 2011 at 2:27 pm

Aw the video is so fun! The pilot says ‘you know’ a lot too. I loved the blooper, and congratulations on Gretta the goat!
I can’t live without um fruit I guess? or vegetables? I can’t really think of anything. I’m giving up refined sugars for a month soon, and if I can do that I think I can do anything.
I think I would go with joint, and separate. Joint to pay for bills, then seperate for fun stuff for me.
I want at least one child, after that I’ll decide if I can handle more. 🙂

  12. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on March 29, 2011 at 2:28 pm

OMG I love the blooper… LOL! And congrats on the goat!

  13. Amanda D on March 29, 2011 at 2:31 pm

The Pilot’s reaction to the broken futon was the best!! The whole video was adorable – thanks for sharing!!

  14. Vanessa @ Swift as Shadows on March 29, 2011 at 2:31 pm

Loved this post! That poor futon… =)

  15. Erin H on March 29, 2011 at 2:33 pm

That blooper was AWESOME! I watched it like 5 times…rolling!!!!!!!!! So funny!

Loved the video! Can’t wait to see Greta!

  16. mi-an on March 29, 2011 at 2:34 pm

    LOVE this!! 🙂

fave food: any kind of seafood (hence i can never be vegan, have a diet like yours!), kale, avocado and sweet potato
    yes, joint account pls!!
i used to want 4 kids but i think 2 will be great! as long as it’s more than 1. 🙂

  17. Erin on March 29, 2011 at 2:35 pm

    Great video!

I cannot live without quinoa, raspberries, and cucumbers (not necessarily together).

Also, I have you seen the new “Tasting Party” collection at Pier 1? The stuff is pretty darn cute and it made me think of the your dinner party posts.

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:44 pm

ohhh i haven’t seen it! will go on a hunt this week 🙂

  18. Kalynn on March 29, 2011 at 2:36 pm

I don’t think I could live without chocolate! Not that I need/eat it every day, but not having it ever/at all wouldn’t be an option! I would prefer to go with a joint bank account. And, as an only child, I also only want to have one kid, but 2 at the most. I love the announcement of your adoption of a goat! My family raises goats, so I thought that was great!

  19. Bex on March 29, 2011 at 2:37 pm

You guys are adorable! I can’t wait to meet Gretta :p

  20. Courtney (greeneyedrunner) on March 29, 2011 at 2:40 pm

Fresh goat cheese? Amazing. Oh, and I’ve started saying ahhhhmazing & I’ve been saying wonky…thanks Gina, I love the new additions to my vocabulary!
SUCH a cute video, loving the “DUDE, last night…” on the bed hog part!

  21. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey on March 29, 2011 at 2:41 pm

bahaha I loved that video. I couldn’t stop laughing at the goat. I was for sure thinking you were going to say you were trying for a baby!

  22. Brooke on March 29, 2011 at 2:42 pm

Food I can’t live without…I think oatmeal? There’s way to many for me to decide on one, but I might have a problem if there was no more oatmeal. But I kind of have a Nutella problem 🙁

We have one joint bank account that a certain amount of both of our paychecks go into, but we also roll with separate ones. There’s no reason he needs to know how much I pay for workout clothes and books haha.

I want 3 (preferably all boys), but he would prefer 2. Honestly, I’d be happy with any! 🙂

  23. jenna on March 29, 2011 at 2:42 pm

such a cute cute video!! ya all are so freakin cute! 😉

I used to want 4 kids….then I had one….These days I’m thinking one is a good number!!….i think Ava is trying to tell me she wants to be an only child too….this weekend she closed the 2 year old neighbor in the bathroom with the lights out.. when the kid started screaming bloody murder Ava looked up and said “what?…i guess i forgot to turn the light on for her!!” LOL

  24. Alicia on March 29, 2011 at 2:43 pm

hahaha too funny! the blooper was awesome. And i agree~ the pilot says ‘you know’ lots! super cute video guys! ps yay goat!! greta is a great name for a goat

  25. Faith @ lovelyascharged on March 29, 2011 at 2:45 pm

Ah, I can’t live without carbs – bagels and bread and pasta for the win! As far as kids, I always used to want several, but then I taught preschool…and I’d be quite happy without any kids – EVER. I guess I could be happy with one…but absolutely positively no more!

  26. Michelle on March 29, 2011 at 2:46 pm

I really enjoyed the video, especially the blooper! Thanks to you and the pilot for sharing 🙂

  27. courtney @ cupcakedynamite on March 29, 2011 at 2:51 pm

tehehehe cute video! fresh goat cheese here you come 😉

  28. Natalie @ Will Jog For Food on March 29, 2011 at 2:52 pm

What a great video! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I would like to have 2 kids, 1 boy and 1 girl, but of course whatever happens happens. The hubby says he’s destined by karma to have 2 girls, haha.

I can not live without cheese! It’s my favorite food and I have to have at least a small piece every day.

  29. China on March 29, 2011 at 2:54 pm

Love the blooper and the goat announcement! Goats are so adorable.
    1. Absolutely cannot live without black beans! So tasty.
    2. Currently rolling with separate accounts – it works well for us, for now.
    3. Still trying to figure out the whole kids thing…

  30. Jen on March 29, 2011 at 2:57 pm

I am only halfway done watching, but ya’ll are both awesome, encouraging, inspiring, mature, fun, understanding, and REAL 🙂

  31. Kim @ girlevolving on March 29, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Love it. I love how down-to-earth and chill you guys are!

We also do the joint accounts… I actually can’t imagine how separate accounts would work for us!

  32. Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing on March 29, 2011 at 3:01 pm

We completely share all our finances. For us, it’s a symbol of transparency, mutuality, and unity. It also really simplifies things! 🙂 We plan to adopt as many kiddos as we are able (there are financial criteria you have to meet) in the future. We haven’t decided if there’s a biological kid in the mix; just so many children already out there that need a loving home.

Oh, and I could not live without peanut butter! It’s probably 70% of my diet 😉

  33. mm on March 29, 2011 at 3:03 pm

haha – love the video and the blooper!
We definitely do the joint thing with the money too. It’s just what works best for us. Plus, I really like making decisions together and when you decide on a financial goal and work towards it together, it’s really exciting to see how fast you can get there!
    I think I want 3 kids… someday. 🙂

  34. Angie on March 29, 2011 at 3:03 pm

I LOOOOOVED your video!! Cracked up at the end.. and I agree with whoever said they thought you were going to try for a baby!! A goat is awesome, too 🙂 I almost had a feeling whenever you held one and then I saw another pic of one later! How amazing! Gretta! Love the name!! mmm goat cheese roflmao!

  35. Lindsey @ SoundEats on March 29, 2011 at 3:03 pm

haha too cute! this video made me miss you guys! and y’all better get a house fast, I can’t wait to meet Greta!

P.S. Was the Pilot born and raised in the South? There are a lot of things that seem similar between him and Ross, and I think a lot of them could be from good, gentlemanly, Southern upbrinings. 🙂

  36. Ashley on March 29, 2011 at 3:05 pm

Hahaha the blooper was sooo great! Too funny. You guys are adorable 🙂

  37. Erica on March 29, 2011 at 3:05 pm

Love this video! We’re completely with you on the finances. I think everyone has to do what works for them (like you mentioned)- I just couldn’t imagine doing it separately. You & the pilot are so cute

  38. Ashley on March 29, 2011 at 3:05 pm

You guys are too cute!!! Is there an age difference between you two? Also, I noticed at the end of the video it said flipshare. What is that? I have a flip but I load the video onto my computer and then upload it to YouTube…is there another way to do it?

  39. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 29, 2011 at 3:06 pm

GREAT video, Gina! And I almost NEVER watch videos but I watched yours b/c I had asked you about what/how you decide to blog about and what you don’t and what you try to keep off the blog/on blog. Thanks for answering my question (and possibly other people’s too!)

I love you and Pilot in the video…you guys just mesh so well together and just have such a good vibe and energy together…like you could co-host a tv show together…so cute together 🙂

One child, we’re done. Separate bank accounts. Could not live without chocolate 🙂

  40. Jess on March 29, 2011 at 3:06 pm

Hahaha looooove the video and the blooper..too funny. You guys are so great together 🙂

One food I can’t live without would probably be pizza.

In terms of the bank account situation, my boyfriend and I (who live and own a house together) have one joint account for house stuff (mortgage, loans, water bills, etc) and we each both have our own separate accounts for personal spending. However, we still generally talk about big purchases together before one of us goes out and spends a ton of money.

Lastly, I have no idea how many kids I want lol…I fluctuate between 2 and 4, but we have a while to go before we cross that bridge 🙂

  41. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on March 29, 2011 at 3:06 pm

Ha ha ha. That was great. I love the blooper.

  42. Sarah Jayne on March 29, 2011 at 3:07 pm

ahhhhh! HAHA! Poor futon..but the best part is the combo of pilots reaction and the face you make..! Other than that, awesome video, thank you bella for taking the time to put this together for fitnessista readers 🙂

CANNOT live without chocolate. well..could, but would never want to.
We are doing joint once the wedding is over in July…I dont think he could handle seeing how much dress/shoes/etc cost..hehe.
Mmmmm, probably 2 kids. maybe less. maybe more!

  43. Jaime on March 29, 2011 at 3:11 pm

    Such a cute video!

I don’t know what food I can’t live without. I gave up sugar for lent, and now feel like I could live without anything haha. This isn’t technically a food, but I could NEVER give up gum.

I am not in a relationship, but I think I would want a joint bank account. I’ve never really thought about it, though–always just assumed I would have a joint account once married.

    I don’t want any kids…maybe a dog instead 🙂

  44. Sarah C on March 29, 2011 at 3:11 pm

Cute video. You guys are really sweet. Love it.

    1. Other than chocolate, butternut squash and bananas. Hands down.
    2. Joint accounting works for us. We feel like we are on the same page that way and can manage ourselves better.
    3. We just had our first (!), and would love to eventually have 3 or 4. I always wanted more brothers and sisters growing up and we really love kids so we will see what life hands us.

  45. Brandi on March 29, 2011 at 3:19 pm

You and the Pilot are adorable! RIP futon, that blooper was too funny!!
I cant wait to meet Greta the Goat. Super cute way to annouce the new addition to your family.

I cant live without potatoes or bananas.
My bf and I have been together for 4 years and we are definitely considering a joint account. It would help with so much!

  46. Natasha on March 29, 2011 at 3:22 pm

Haha! Love the blooper & that Bella’s French! I couldn’t live without Mexican food either. It’s one of our fav’s! We also share I finances. I thought it was weird people would ask you that! It was nice to hear someone else’s view though as my family and almost all my friends split their’s and think we are weird!

  47. Julia on March 29, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Food – actually, it’s hot tea. And coffee. So hot beverages. That counts, right?

Kids – Four! Here’s hoping, and we want one girl. Have one boy so far. He’s the best. :o)

Bank Account – Absolutely joint. My marriage would not function at all with separate accounts.

  48. Ginna on March 29, 2011 at 3:25 pm

    Lol, love the video!

Our cocker spaniel always seems to push my husband to the edge of our king bed and steal his pillow! Its hilarious.

Foods i couldn’t live without: definitely goat cheese, tomoatoes, avocado, nuts amd chocolate lol!

My husband and i have a joint account – we do a budget Dave Ramsey style and it seems so silly to us when other couples have separate finances. Money is afterall one of the biggest things that can break up marriages. We have no secrets from each other and what’s mine is his and what’s his is mine. We have our own blow money monthly and any big purchases we always discuss. It is so important in a marriage to have good communication and this helps!

I would love to have 4 kids….we are ready for our first but have had some fertility obstacles. hopefully God will bless us this year!

    • Julia on March 29, 2011 at 3:33 pm

Ginna – I heart Dave Ramsey!

      • Elyse on March 29, 2011 at 3:55 pm

I’m on the Dave Ramsey train too (:

  49. Moni'sMeals on March 29, 2011 at 3:25 pm

    How cute was that!

    Greta the Goat, love it!

  50. Amelia on March 29, 2011 at 3:25 pm

OMG, y’all are hilarious! The blooper was awesome! 🙂 It brings back memories of our futon days. I guess it’s time for a couch, huh?

    Food: shrimp & fine cheese
Kevin & I have had joint accounts since before we were married. It has just always worked out best for us. Like you two, we always discuss majors purchases with each other, and it especially helps when you’re trying to save for a big purchase, like a house.

We would both like 4 kids… that is, if my female issues get resolved. God willing. 🙂
