We had a fun weekend relaxing, spending time together, and hanging out with friends. The usual, and just the way I like it. 🙂
(#SaladADayinMay from Liberty Station Market + kombucha on tap)
I can’t even remember what we did Friday night (how does it feel so far away?), but on Saturday, I went to a meeting at work to learn about yoga adjustment techniques. Even though I didn’t *do* anything, and just observed, it made me excited to be back into it. Afterwards, we went to Liv’s BBF’s bday party. We’ve become good friends with many of her friends’ parents, and it definitely takes the awkwardness out of meeting new people as an adult. 😉 We’ve become close friends with this couple because we have a lot in common and we each have two girls within a couple of months in age.
Sam thew a beautiful Tangled-theme party, complete with these awesome Pasqual cake pops.
Sunday was Mother’s Day, and while I definitely wish we could have seen everyone in Tucson, we had a wonderful day together.
I slept in late (wahoo! AND P decided to join me haha. I woke up before she did at 8:45! What?!), we had breakfast together, they made the sweetest homemade card,
(P’s hand is catching up to Livi’s)
and then I headed off for a surprise massage and facial the Pilot had booked.
It was EVERYTHING. She also rubbed my ears and head, and I was in a pile of goobery happiness.
While the day was beautiful and the cards + surprise spa treatments were amazing, my greatest gift is having these two.
(Poor Livi goose fell at school on Friday and I picked up her early. Thankfully she just has her cut + bruise, and nothing was broken.)
I never thought I could love anyone so much, and I wake up every morning so excited to be their mama. It’s by far the most meaningful and enjoyable work I’ve ever done, and it’s like they were always a part of me.
I used to laugh to myself when people would say that they wish their kids would stay young forever. I like, “Wait, growing is amazing; it’s way more fun than it was in the newborn days.” Plus out of diapers is a GAMECHANGER and I love them even more each day that I get to know them. But, I get it. These tiny hands in yours, joyful laughs, and sweet moments are treasures. It’s such an innocent time, too, before you have to worry about big stuff, like broken hearts, bullies, or finding colleges. I find myself wanting to freeze specific moments, and make every conscious effort to soak up the good stuff.
I feel blessed to have them, and thankful I get to do this crazy parenting thing with this guy. He’s kind of nice. 😉
Hope everyone had a great weekend, too!
I’ll see ya later today <3
xoxo
