Winter Shape Up 2015: Week 1
Hi friends! I am SO excited about this year’s Winter Shape Up! Here is the week 1 schedule. Please feel free to modify or adjust as you see *fit* 🙂
Workouts for this week:
Workout #1 (Follow along video option)
Steady state: for this workout, you are going to complete 30 minutes of steady state cardio with a mode of your choice. Go for a run, a brisk walk, hop on the StairMaster, try a mix of your favorite cardio modes, or take a class you enjoy. If you take a class, make sure it’s not interval-based, and go for more steady state, like dance, kickboxing or Zumba.
Workout #2 (Follow along video option)
Ideas to shuffle the workouts around:
-Make sure that you are not doing strength on consecutive days. Try to do workout #1 1-3 times total. Three is just a maximum amount; if you do the workout just one time though, that’s great!
-Alternate cardio intensities. For example, I would not do workout #1 and workout #2 on consecutive days since they include intense intervals! Sandwich an easy steady state or off day in there.
-As always, check with a doctor before making any fitness changes. Honor your body and modify as needed.
For all of the weekly workouts and meal plans, be sure to check out the intro page!
Special thanks to this year’s Winter Shape Up sponsors:
Wild Blueberries / Cabot / Sabra / Sizzlefish / About Time / Fitfluential
This week’s featuring sponsor is About Time.
They have a variety of protein-packed products, sweetened with Stevia, and in a variety of delicious flavors. I’ve had their birthday cake protein powder before and thought it was delicious! Some of their other whey protein powder flavors include: cinnamon swirl, mocha mint, peanut butter (!), chocolate, strawberry and banana. They kindly offered a jump start pack for a lucky Shape Up participant, which includes a 2-lb. container of whey protein powder, and Cleanse (which has green coffee bean). The prize is valued at $85.
To enter, leave a comment below (on this week 1 workout page) each time you complete one of the workouts above. (So Sunday, you get a freebie: it’s a rest day!) The lucky winner will be announced in the Week 2 workout schedule post.
Let’s get this Shape Up party started!!
xoxo

I had an intense kickboxing workout at my gym, so I’m going to count that as my steady state and do workouts 1+3 after I’m done with work tomorrow! So excited!
Attended a barre class to start my monday off, I was shaking so good — can’t wait to try wo1 later this week!
Workout #1 done 2x! Thanks!
Workout #1 done! My legs were burning by the end of tabata. Looking forward to the rest of the week now!
Had a great start to the week with the workout! Thanks!
I did workout one. I haven’t done plyometrics in about six months (I’ve been injured and recovering), and I was sweating like crazy. Felt good though!
Did workout #1 three times today! Definitely felt the burn at the end! Rounded the evening out with a nice yoga class. Kicking off the Shape Up with a bang!!
sunday was a nice relaxing stroll through the woods – a perfect “off” winter day
Although Sunday was an off day, I did lots of walking through the city! 🙂
and I loved today’s workout!
Got 3 rounds of workout 1 in tonight. Feeling good!
Okay, I don’t know how you do it. I was like, I’m going to do this once. Then after the first time I was like, I think I can do it again. And then halfway through I thought, “What the hell! What’s once more!” The workout was so hard and good but somehow felt so doable! I think it was the brevity of the strength portion…and tabata style tricks you into thinking it’s easy cause I mean, 20 seconds! Ahh thanks so much. So excited for these weeks of workouts!
Sunday’s work out was a breeze 🙂
Monday’s workout was not so breezy! By the third round there wasn’t much pep in my tabata
I feel great now! Tomorrow I won’t be able to move…
Workout #1 done!
Did steady state today because it fit the schedule better 🙂 Workout 1 tomorrow!
Workout #1 done!
Did workout #1 today! Definitely had me sweaty.
Tonight I did 1 round of work out #1 before my Pure barre class. I actually ran 7 miles yesterday so no rest yet this week!

Feeling nice and sweaty after workout #1!
Got my steady state in sledding in the blizzard lol

It may be 11pm (with toddler finally asleep and cats running under my feet), but I DID IT!
Workout #1 completed yesterday!
Steady state cardio done this AM.
Just completed my steady state workout on the bike! Feeling great!
Completed workout 1 with the baby bump and now some steady state on the spin bike today. Love these shape ups and you two!!
Today is a rest day due to my work schedule, but I will be back at my workouts tomorrow!
Loved workout 1 yesterday! I keep hearing so many good things from people about Barre lately that I may check out the studio near me. I’m suffering from severe FOMO at this point
I loved workout #1 yesterday! Steady state is already completed for today! I feel awesome!!
Today is a rest day because I’m going an info session on how to properly do my taxes, since grad students don’t get paid with technical “wages” so it is confusing. I’d rather workout because this will be a boring info session lol.
Swapping Monday for Tuesday because of my existing workout schedule. Completed kickboxing Monday evening! Doing workout #1 today! Thank you for providing such incredible “fitspiration” to energize my workouts!
Completed this workout last night! Even got the hubby to join in for the Tabata rounds. Looking forward to trying workout #2 on Wednesday! Thanks Gina!
So I’m a day off due to my schedule, but did #1 today, I’m going to be sore! Love it!
45 minutes of steady state on the elliptical!!
30 minutes on the elliptical this morning + core.
Took a spin class this morning for my cardio! I feel great!
Due to blizzard, my workout will be a mix-up of some cardio and some elliptical down in our basement.
Steady cardio done this morning. Had to get through some snow shoveling first to get to the gym. Thank you ladies for putting this together.
I did steady state cardio last night– 30 mins on the elliptical with higher resistance every 5 minutes while I watched an episode of New Girl on Netflix.
Did workout #1 this morning! Can’t wait to try the rest!! 🙂
Mostly steady cardio today on the treadmill, threw in a couple intervals to match up with faster paced songs.
I am not a morning person, but got up and took a Body Pump class this morning and I am planning on doing a steady jog during my lunch break! Trying to set myself up for success!
I did workout 1 yesterday! It was awesome! My booty is sore today.
