Back in the (spin) saddle + a CORE40 giveaway
Hi friends! How’s the morning going?? Hope my friends up in the northeast are staying warm. <3
After traveling, it always feels nice to get back into the routine, and teaching is a huge part of that. BODYPUMP was packed since we just launched the new release. It was my first time teaching these tracks, and I looooove this release so much. The biceps track is my favorite, which is rare because I’d had yet to find a biceps track that excited me. I LOVE IT. I felt hyped for a few hours after teaching because it was so much fun, and the class had awesome energy.
Livi and I went to her dentist’s appointment (thank goodness for Sesame Street on the TV above the chair— she sat completely still while they cleaned her teeth!)
to gymnastics
(my little monkey)
and Trader Joe’s to stock up on some essentials. I made a variation of these bliss balls and we enjoyed them for a snack.
Pre-spin meal:
(large sweet potato with sautéed spinach, two eggs and salsa)
During class, I played a POSH podcast, and then about 4 songs from my usual playlist. I kind of felt like I was “cheating” because I didn’t make the entire playlist myself, but it was such a fun way to change up class and my usual playlists. We did some music cardio with a variety of sprints, hill climbs, interval work, tempo and steady state.
Cool down song:
For dinner, we had this potato-crusted salmon with lemon green beans. I was kind of skeptical about the potato on top of my fish, but it was the perfect complement to the buttery salmon. So good!
This morning, it’s Bell and Caro’s turn to get their teeth cleaned. Poor pups don’t know what’s about to happen, even though I tried to give them a pep talk earlier.
CORE40 giveaway:
Today, I’m really excited to share a giveaway for my local and San Francisco friends, courtesy of CORE40. You can read my recap here; it’s one my favorite current workouts. I took the spin/CORE40 combo a couple of weeks ago, and really enjoyed the cardio element with the Megaformer burn. They kindly offered a free unlimited membership to a local reader! If you live in San Diego or San Francisco, please leave an extra comment with your giveaway entry. (Just tell me why you’d like to win!) I’ll pick a lucky winner this Thursday night and announce in Friday Faves.
Studios in San Diego – Little Italy, Carmel Valley and Solana Beach.
Studios in San Francisco – Nob Hill and SoMa
If you’d like to check out CORE 40, the first class is free. You can register here! If you love the class as much as I do and decide to explore membership options, here’s an offer code to get $25 off an unlimited monthly membership ($124 instead of $149): GHVIP25 (code expires January 31)
They also have a 110% guarantee. If you don’t see the results you’re looking for after taking 12 classes, they’ll refund 110% of the package price. Pretty amazing.
Hope you have a lovely morning! <3
I’ll see ya later today.
xoxo

Little girls at gymnastics! Can it get any cuter?!?! Enjoy your day Gina!

My dentist has tvs as well and I love it! Such a brilliant idea to distract us from some not so fun visits. I always watch HGTV, ha!
looove hgtv!
I always love getting back to a routine after time away. The salmon looks delicious!
I’m in the Northeast! We’re staying warm. I got to work from home today, but I’m not looking forward to shoveling out my car later. There’s already a few feet of snow out there. Yikes!
Awesome giveaway. I wish we had some CORE40 classes near me. Have a great day Gina!
I love potatoes with everything!
That sweet potato looks amazing! A combination of so many of my favorite things. Have you ever topped with a sprinkle of black beans?
yes! so good!

I just have to say, I teach gymnastics and NONE of my 3 year olds can do that! She’s talented! So sweet 🙂
aww no way! she loves it so much, and i love watching her 🙂
East coast, wommmp womb. CoreSNOWallday is basically what we are having a special on right now.
That sweet potato combo looks delicious!
I live north of SF and would love to win this. It would be nice to add a class to my day when I’m in the city! I’m 8 months postpartum with my second baby and after winter shape up this could keep my motivation strong!
Katherine,
Best of luck on winning the giveaway!
Where “north of SF” do you live? FYI we are exploring the possibility of a Marin studio in the coming months… 😉

I always see sweet potatoes with salsa on top, but have never tried it! Honestly, I am a little skeptical, but I’ll have to test it out some day 😛
Since when is Shia LeBoeuf a dancer?!?!
I’m thinking happy puppy teeth cleaning thoughts! We have to brush our cat Punkin’s teeth because he refuses to eat the medicine and is showing signs of plaque. 🙁 For some reason he seems to prefer the brushing! haha He’s an odd duck.
That’s so Awesome!!!! I’m local in San Diego and would love to win the Core40 membership…ever since you blogged about I put it on my must-do list because it sounds right up my alley…I used to do reformer Pilates about 10 years ago and it was one of my favorite exercise things ever, so when you wrote about Core40 I have been just dying to try but it’s pretty darn pricey and haven’t had the funds to do it, so winning would be super rad!
P.s. I’m definitely making that sweet potato/spinach/egg dish for breakfast today, it sounds like a yummy combo! 🙂
Hi Casey!
Best of luck on winning the giveaway! In the meantime, the first class is FREE, so come check us out. Also, if you get onto our mailing list, we occasionally run promotions. We hope to welcome you to CORE40 very soon!

I’m with you on the newest BP release – it’s so awesome. And heck yes to the biceps track…one of my favorites too! I don’t often like the bicep tracks either, but this one is super catchy and a great workout too.
That potato crusted salmon sounds delicious!!
I’m in San Diego and I would love to try Core40. Looks so awesome and a good variety to my routine!
I just tried my first reformer class last week (think I am still sore)Moving to San Diego this Friday (to la jolla!), and I would be thrilled to continue my new fitness obsession at core40 as well as make some new friends in San Diego (don’t know anyone)!!!

Were you sore, coming back from the retreat and going into bodypump again?
That salmon dish looks amazing! I first got introduced to Core40 about a year ago and have since turned all my friends onto it. It’s the first workout that I’ve really noticed a difference in my core and I LOVE it! I live in San Diego and go to the Little Italy studio. Have you tried Alona’s class? She is killer!

Hi Gina! I miss teaching when I’m away from it too. I wrote my recap and review of BODYPUMP 92 today, and my overall feeling is that the music is great and some of the tracks are super challenging, including back, triceps and shoulders. I’m also a fan of the biceps tracks because the moves really go with the music.
I tried CORE40 here in San Francisco and loved it! I would LOVE to win!

I’m in SF and would love to try out Core40! I’m training for a SF half marathon (oh the hills!) and would love a new strength/muscle endurance workout (post winter shape-up) to balance out my cardio training. Mostly though, just because I’m such a better person person when I workout in the morning 🙂
Hi Sarah,
CORE40 is excellent cross-training for the SF half marathon! In fact, we have dozens of clients who do marathons, triathlons, ultra races, etc. who rely on CORE40 to strengthen their bodies for racing. In fact, we have a client who shaved almost 30 minutes off his Boston Marathon time. When I asked him what made the difference, he told me that around mile 19, when he usually gets fatigued, he was able to “dig into his core” and allow it to carry him powerfully through the end of the race.
The first class is free, so come check us out!

I have only done the lastest BodyPump release twice, but I am loving it so far. My legs were crying after the squat and the lunge track.
Also, sweet potato with spinach and egg = best meal ever! I eat some variation of that every day.
I’m in SF and I would love to try Core40! Those machines are intimidating but I’ve heard such good things.
Kristen,
Don’t be intimidated! I know, they look a little like medieval torture machines at first, but believe me, the workout is great! And the spring system is designed to offer as much support (or as much challenge) as the client needs. The instructors will take great care of you, don’t worry. The first class is free, so come in and try a class!

CORE40 giveaway:
Good morning Gina!
I’m so excited I found your blog! I was encouraged to try OTF & in researching it came across your blog (then went on IG & started following). This is my first time commenting or even entering a giveaway on a blog so here it goes:
I would absolutely love to win because I’m A. Obsessed with spin! I call it my happy hour & B. I’m looking for something to step up my fitness game. I’ve lost about 45 lbs. just eating healthy & doing spin 3-4 days a week at MCRD here in San Diego. I work for Department of Navy & am fortunate to have access to all military gyms but unfortunately group fitness is becoming less available. I’m very motivated in a group setting & Core40 sounds awesome! I started focusing on my health/weight when my fertility came into question after seeing my Doctor last year. My health has become my priority & I am excited for a new fitness challenge! If I win I will take full advantage of Core40 & its offerings!
Maria,
Congrats on your fitness gains, and thanks for sharing your inspiring story. Best of luck on winning the giveaway! Indoor Cycling is a great way to shed unwanted pounds, and cross-training with CORE40 for strength, endurance and tone is a great combination. The first class is free, so please come in and try a class on us!

Posh podcast is my new HIIT workout standby to get me energized for those sprints! Thanks for the awesome recommendation! 😉
The potato on that salmon looks amazing! Is it wrong that I want it for breakfast now? 🙂
This is an amazing give away, thank you for sharing! I’d love to win. As a student full-time right now, I have to be mindful of finances so it would help me out a ton to be able to have that as a work out option!
Hi Laura!
Wishing you the best of luck on the giveaway! Being a full-time student definitely impacts your wallet, which is why we offer a 15% discount off our regular pricing to all students with proof of registration. I love all things potatoes and salmon, so that recipe sounds amazing…however whenever I click on the link it crashes my internet. Would you be able to copy and paste or something into your blog? Thanks!
I live down the street from the Carmel Valley Core40. When we moved to SD, we built ourselves a home gym in the garage since going out and managing our new born was tough. I do what I can – mostly with your website’s help. Thank you! But I love classes… I miss classes…
Hi Kavitta,
We would love to help you get your group class fix! The Carmel Valley studio is great too – light and breezy, with huge west-facing windows and a peek-a-boo ocean view. The first class is free, so please sign up and try one soon!
I completely understand about the time constraints of a newborn. When my now 4-year old was tiny, it was so hard to carve out time for myself to go to classes, even as the studio owner, lol! But my husband would say, “Honey, it’s only 40 minutes. You deserve it – go take a class!”
Hope to welcome you to CORE40 soon.

I’ve been working some long hours as of late, and I would love to fit in a new workout in the mornings! Gina,
Best of luck on winning the giveaway! I look forward to having you try CORE40 – you will love it! And it’s impossible to get into a rut doing our classes – there are so many exercises and combinations, that you will never take the same workout twice. The first class is free, so come try us out!

Arielle,
CORE40 is incredible cross-training for runners! Not only does it strengthen your entire body in a completely non-impact way, but it builds endurance as well. In fact, we have lots of competitive runners who make CORE40 part of their regular routines when training for races. The first class is free, so come check it out!

I’ve been going to Core40 in SF for over a year and I love it! It’s the first fitness class I haven’t grown bored of because every class is different. I recently moved further away from the studio and logistics-wise it’s hard for me to get to the studio so I haven’t been able to go as often :(. Fingers crossed they open up on my side of town soon so I can get back to my 3-4 times a week schedule!
Ahh the newest bodypump release is killer! That squat track makes my legs tremble, lol.
How did the teeth cleaning go? I think I need to make an appointment for my dog. How old are your pups?
Too bad there’s no CORE40 in Pittsburgh…what a great giveaway! I don’t think I’d ever miss a gymnastics class…too adorable! Hope you have a great day!
