Why Blog??

Hi guys ๐Ÿ™‚ Itโ€™s the freakinโ€™ weekend! Thank goodness, eh? Mayjah Friday dancing is going on up in herre.

But not before a snack:

banana

(Nanner with almond butter and mesquite)

Meeting with my lifestyle group โ€“ we talked about fitness fueling today

An Insanity workout with Ashley (today was pure cardio. I die)

shaunt  (Source)

Thanks for the booty-kicking, Shaun T. (Iโ€™ll get the review page going this weekend!)

And a recovery smoothie:

cherry bomb

Today is a pretty busy day, but Iโ€™m stoked for the weekend ahead. Letโ€™s get it all over with because next week, Ashley and I will be in VEGAS, baby ๐Ÿ™‚

– Computer work at the office (aka Bizzle)

– Training appointments (pretty booked today)

– Walking the puppers on base โ€“ theyโ€™re so much better behaved when they get a long walk

– Dinner + drinks

Iโ€™m out like sauerkraut ๐Ÿ˜‰

Enjoy your Friday!

G$

Something to talk about: Why do you blog?? Or if you donโ€™t blog, why do you read blogs??

Creative energy definitely ebbs and flows. Lately, Iโ€™ve been needing a creative fire lit under my booty.

I think that this is going to help:

inspiration board

Remember my inspiration board??

Well, my race medals hang over it in my closet and since I havenโ€™t been able to physically see the board very well, I think Iโ€™ve began to lose sight of a few things I want to accomplish this year. Another one of the big reasons my mojo started to dwindle is that losing the cafe kind of put a damper on my spiritโ€ฆ that kind of thing *usually* pushes me to work even harder, but for whatever reason, that time was different. I think for now, Iโ€™m going to wait on the cafe/bakery until I find out whatโ€™s going on with our living situation- weโ€™re either moving in the fall (YES!!!!!!!!) or next spring.

There are still a few things on there I *will* achieve this year (two are BIGGIES..and Iโ€™m determined) and of course, I will tend to my little blog garden.

That being said, I really want to add some more sparkle and pizazz in the olโ€™ bloggy. For motivation and advice, I consulted the fabulous Mizfitโ€™s post on blogging malaise, took a step back and thought about why I blog:

To share info (not just giving, but also receiving! I learn so much from you every day)

For community. Iโ€™m very fortunate to be surrounded by friends who share my interests and healthy living style, but that may not always be the case as we move so often. This way, Iโ€™m always virtually surrounded by others who share the same passions and have made real-life friends through the blogworld.

Networking. Iโ€™ve gotten to meet quite a few amazing people, attend culinary school and connect with others I might have never been able to without the bloggy.

For fun!! The whole reason I started this thang was because I was a city girl transplanted to a small town and kind of bored. This little hobby has turned into something that I look forward to every day.

So.. why do you blog? Why do you read blogs? Please share ๐Ÿ˜€

Also, what do you do to spark blog creativity???

Something to read: A week of eats and exercise for a restaurant critic: Life In Food. Super interesting!

Opensky: Last day for the $25 yoga mat– coupon: 5ForYoga

I love to blog because it helps me stay creative and inspired to eat healthy! I read blogs because I look up to other bloggers so much as a new blogger and I also find a ton of inspiration from them.:)

i enjoy reading blogs, and seeing other peoples creative juices flowing, it gives me motivation and ideas of food to make.

I enjoy blogging, because i can share a lot of things, and meet and talk to people i would have never otherwise known!

I blog because it is a good creative outlet for me. It encourages me to cook more creatively and to process things and discuss them in a different way.

I read blogs to learn and to laugh, and I keep coming back to blogs written by people I admire, people I can learn something from, people who make me laugh and/or people that I would likely be “real life” friends with if our paths had crossed. There are a lot of great ones out there!

I blog because it helps keep me accountable, and because i am so inspired by you other blogging gals that I want to join in! ๐Ÿ™‚ it’s such a fun little community going on here, and I really enjoy ‘saying hi’ by reading your blogs in the mornings ๐Ÿ™‚

I have taken a step back from blogging lately due to other personal commitments, but I have continued to read blogs. I keep mine in separate categories in my Reader (not that I’m Type A or anything…) so some I read for professional reasons, some because I love the people behind them and frequently comment, and others I read for fun – the ‘fluffy’ ones, where they don’t require brainpower and are just fun. I think there’s a space for every kind of blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Why blog? It helps me connect with people who might not live right next door but with whom I have a lot in common. It’s a way to share my life with friends and family across the world. And I learn a LOT.

I started to blog as a way to keep in touch with my family back home and to fight the loneliness. Now I blog to keep me accountable, for the support and to share what I’m going through with others who may be going through the same thing.

I was totally thinking about this today…you read my mind! I think you summed it up pretty well…I blog mostly for a creative outlet. When I started my blog I was in a very boring job and it helps get my creative juices flowing. I also blog because it’s fun and it gives me something to work on and plan for. I also do it for community like you said…I love reading other people’s blogs just as much as doing my own:) I also do it to hopefully help others…several of my “in real life” friends have made a lot of my recipes and have said my blog has helped them figure out what to cook especially with their busy lives. p.s. your blog is pretty much my favorite blog to read. I check it all the time to see if you’ve updated:)

I finally figured out what Insanity workouts you are talking about. My husband and I watched the infomercial one Friday (yes, we have truly romantic date nights) and I am so curious to see how you like it. Can’t wait for your review.

  14. Hilary on April 16, 2010 at 3:29 pm

I am new to blogging and I do it because i just plain enjoy it. I love to write, am passionate about health and fitness, and enjoy being pat of a community that shares so much in those areas.

  15. Catherine on April 16, 2010 at 3:52 pm

I blog for a few reasons – my friends don’t quite get the health/fitness side of me, so I like having access to a whole community of y’all who get that part of me. I love the positive vibe I get from reading people’s blogs, seeing what their up to, sharing in their little joys and being supportive when they need it. My friends & family are all over the country, so this is a way of making me feel connected to others in a different kind of way.

…That and the crazy amazing recipe and fitness ideas!!!

    I read blogs because I AM ADDICTED ! ๐Ÿ™‚

I read some for foodie / recipe content, which is great. Most (like YOURS) I read because I enjoy the multi-faceted topics, and I feel like I’m “getting to know you” and want to see what’s new with each of you.

One reason I have wanted to start a blog is so I wouldn’t feel like a lurker when I comment… I “know so many” of you ๐Ÿ™‚ and it is such a fabulous community!

I enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle, so I like reading like-minded bloggers and learning new things.

Thank you (again!) for being inspirational and fun.

I blog for the creative outlet and the community blogging provides. It’s really been amazing- and I’ve gotten the chance to meet some awesome bloggers- Hint, hint:) I love to read blogs because I find what other people eat interesting, and I love to read about their fitness habits so I can learn new ways to keep in shape!

  18. breakingsilence on April 16, 2010 at 8:14 pm

I used to blog regularly, but it definitely fell by the wayside this past year. Reading your blog and a blog that a high school classmate of mine writes makes me want to start again!

  19. Ellen on April 16, 2010 at 9:11 pm

I started my blog because I needed an outlet and my own personal “diary” when I lost my job last year. Plus, I’m a freelance writer, so it is a way for me to help keep my skills sharp and creative juices flowing. I’m truly passionate about my blog, but I will openly admit that I think it would be awesome if something (anything, really!) were to come from my labor of love. Umm yeah, I pretty much got ripped to pieces for this very topic on my blog the other day! ha.

I read blogs to live vicariously through bloggers! I find it interesting to see how others eat and live their lives, and it entertains me ๐Ÿ™‚ I also love good food and exercise!

  21. Cindy on April 17, 2010 at 1:05 pm

    Initially,
I read blogs because I blog commented for others. Now, I just love to read about the triumph and troubles of someone outside my reality. I have found some really inspiring ones. It helps me get motivated when I need to write on my own blog.

i blog because i want to be in an environment where i rub elbows with people like you guys! as a 20 yr old, most of my peers are too busy getting housed to care about nutrition, so you guys are my encouragement and inspiration! it also gives me a vehicle to guide others to health. if i can do it, so can they!
thanks girl -you are an awesome part of this community!

  23. Sarah @ See Sing Live on April 17, 2010 at 8:05 pm

My blog is brand-spanking new and I started it for a few reasons. First of all, I have been reading healthy living blogs for quite some time and I wanted to make myself a part of this awesome community with such strong and talented ladies. Second, I started to feel lost and couldn’t pinpoint what I wanted from life. I know it sounds strange, but posting daily really gives me perspective about my goals, my life, and the future. For me, starting See Sing Live was a leap of faith as a blog throws everything right out there to the world. And of course, it keeps me conscious of my health and my body.
I feel lucky to have blogger ladies, like you, a part of my daily routine!!!
