Baby #2 is a….

GIRL!

Macaon 1 of 1

(We had pink macarons to celebrate)

Looks like from the poll, many of you had a feeling. 59% guessed correctly!

For our first genetic ultrasound test, the tech sound pretty sure that it was a girl, but after our last time (you know when they told us Liv was a boy haha), we wanted to wait until the 18-20 week ultrasound to spread the word.

Of course, our number one concern is a healthy, happy baby. It’s comforting to know that things are progressing normally so far, and we hope that continues to be the case.

Ultrasound2

I really didn’t have a preference as far as boys and girls go. I’ve always wanted a daughter at some point, and now that I’ve seen how amazing and magical (and ok, a little intense haha) it can be, I knew I would be beyond thrilled with another one, but just as excited to change things up and have a little guy in the house. In my dreams, we’ve always had two girls: two daughters with dark hair, one a few years older than the other. It’s kind of mind-blowing that it’s how it turned out, and somehow my subconscious seemed to know years ago.

I grew up surrounded by brothers, and while my brothers are my closest friends, I always thought it would be fun to have a sister. I’m excited that both of our girls will get to experience that. Also, I think Tom is meant to be surrounded by girls who adore him.

In the meantime, I’ll be taking Liv’s baby clothes out from storage to wash and upping our intake of frilly girl clothes and headbands. 😉

Little sister 1 of 1

Lots of love,

G

  7. Crystal on May 21, 2015 at 9:23 am

My sister and I are 4 years apart and I just want to say, there is nothing like having a sister! Livi will be in for a crazy, fun ride…having a baby sister is the best (except maybe when she gets older and wants to borrow your clothes and makeup…we definitely had some silly fights when we were younger, haha).

Congrats to you and your family <3

  8. Alex on May 21, 2015 at 9:28 am

I could have guessed that with a pilot for a dad 😉

Congratulations! I felt like you with #2. A sister would be wonderful, and a boy would be fun too. I had a 2nd girl and it has been amazing. Mine are almost 1 and almost 3, and they sure do love each other 🙂

  17. Sarah F on May 21, 2015 at 9:54 am

Congratulations! I have a sister who is 3 years older than me, and it is the best. Maybe less so when we were kids, and she would prank me, but definitely now that we’re adults, I appreciate her so much!

  18. Laura T. on May 21, 2015 at 9:57 am

Congratulations!! I have two sisters and I have to agree, sisters are the best! I am the youngest sibling and it wasn’t always fun, now that we are all grown, we are all still close and talk almost daily via email. Love my sisters!!

  30. Katherine on May 21, 2015 at 10:37 am

    Wonderful news! Congrats!

  31. Carrie on May 21, 2015 at 10:43 am

Congrats! Very exciting news for your family, though either way would have been exciting I am sure.

I would have loved a sister and a brother, but there is something about having an older sister to look up to and really relate to in terms of growing up and navigating some of the challenges women face in society. Plus, I have always been closer friends with guys, so having a sister has given me a built-in best girl friend to do some of the fun things that most guys have no interest in. 😉

  32. Shayna on May 21, 2015 at 10:52 am

Congratulations! Raising two girls together is so much fun! I watch my two girls walking to school, holding hands, and think everyday how grateful I am that they will always have each other.

    I guessed correctly! 🙂

    Congrats, Gina! Such wonderful news!

  34. Anita on May 21, 2015 at 11:12 am

Congratulations! I have a little sister (four years younger than I am) and I love our relationship. It’s so nice that Liv and her sis will have that bond. 🙂 I’m excited for your family!

Also, anyone who can braid little girl hair as well as you can is clearly meant to have more than one daughter. 😉

    Always, Anita

  35. Ashley on May 21, 2015 at 11:19 am

YAY! I know there’s this kind of/almost stigma about girls (and people say that dads always want boys), but I’ve got 2 girls and it is THE BEST! They’re each others best friends and worst enemies, but definitely partners in crime. Also, I come from a family with 3 kids (2 girls, 1 boy), and my sister is without a doubt my best friend in the world. We haven’t even lived in the same state for nearly a decade now and it doesn’t even matter. Our relationship is still just as strong as ever and I love her dearly. It will be so fun for you, as a mom, to get to see and experience the same with your girls. Really happy for you all!

  39. Stephanie on May 21, 2015 at 12:12 pm

Congrats! I just had my second girl in March and my oldest was born in April 2012, so both of my girls will be close in age to your girls. I like to see what Liv is up to, so I know what to expect from my oldest in a few months LOL. Yay for extra girly stuff all around the house!

  40. JoHannah on May 21, 2015 at 12:12 pm

We have two little girls and it is just the sweetest! Congratulations!

  42. Jessie on May 21, 2015 at 12:38 pm

Yay, congrats!! I always wanted a sister I have a boy around Liv’s age. My husband had a dream 2 months before we even tried that he would have a son. It was crazy. My Grandma had a dream that we would have a son months before we got married. I’m not sure what we’ll have next if we are blessed to have another. I haven’t had any dreams yet.

  43. Rose on May 21, 2015 at 12:49 pm

Aww, super-fun way to spread the news! Congrats. That shirt is adorable.

  44. Sarah on May 21, 2015 at 1:00 pm

YES!!!!! Girls rule. Don’t let anyone scare you about teenage girls! Mine are better than I deserve and better than my wildest dreams. They are BEST FRIENDS. Tell them that they are best friends from Day 1. Even today, tell Liv! Use those words a lot – it’ll stick :)) If you ever need a veteran mom of older girls, I got you. YAY!!!
