Coffee table fun + what’s your guess?

Hi friends! How’s the morning going? Hope you’re having a good one. I’m so excited you liked the granola recipe! Let me know if you give it a try.  🙂

Peonies 1 of 1 2

(Peonies are here again!)

Today is an exciting day because we have our 18-20 week -and likely last (if all things look good)- ultrasound. I always get nervous before these appointments because I’m anxious to see if everything is healthy and ok in there. We also find out for sure if baby is a boy or a girl! Any guesses? I made a little poll at the end of this post if you’d like to join in the fun.

Some adventures from yesterday:

Liv and I spent the morning at the park and then headed to Kitson to pick up some gifts -wanted to get some fun little things to send with graduation cards this week- and coffee table books. I’m not sure why, but our coffee table has intimidated me. I wanted to get something fun to style it up a bit and had no idea what to do. Pinterest to the rescue. I ventured into Pier 1 for some candle holders of different heights,

Living room 1 of 1 3

Coffee table 1 of 1

and added these two books.

Funny books 1 of 1

They’re perfect for  random browsing books, especially for the next time we build a springtime fire in the fireplace. The Film In Five Seconds Book has been a fave for a while, and I picked up the other book because we both love random trivia.

Some pics:

Funny books 1 of 1 2

(I guessed the one on the left right away but had a hard time with the one on the right)

Funny books 1 of 1 3

I still want to add a couple of things, like a set of unique coasters and a letter “H.” But for now, it feels nice to have the living room almost done. That is, until we move again into a house with a totally different style. We’ve done the Southern living, and southwestern, and now beach… I wonder what’s next. Maybe colonial? 😉

Lunch was a salad (heated up turkey meat, goat gouda, marinated mushrooms, a chopped carrot, balsamic, salt, pepper, and oregano) with sweet potato bisque and tea:

Soup and salad 1 of 1

And for dinner, it was grill night. It always makes it feel so much like spring/summer when we have burgers and veggie packs on the grill. It’s also amazing because it means the Pilot cooked dinner and it’s waiting when I get home from spin. Dinner always tastes better when someone else makes it, and the Pilot is the burger king.

I made some veggie packs during naptime:

Veggie packs 1 of 1 2

Tomatoes, sweet onion, marinated mushrooms, zucchini, butter and Everyday Seasoning (<— from Trader Joe’s)

with lettuce-wrapped burger, and coconut oil and sea salt sweet potatoes. I could eat this every night and be totally content.

Veggie packs 1 of 1 3

Time to head to the doc. Fingers crossed. <3

Any decorating intimidation lately? We usually don’t do much for the guest rooms, which in this case worked out well since it’s transforming into a nursery. Any awesome coffee table books or designs you’ve seen? Cupcakes and Cashmere always has beautiful ideas.

Have a wonderful morning!

How exciting! I can’t wait to hear the announcement! I am thinking GIRL.

  2. Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed on May 19, 2015 at 7:29 am

I’m intimidated by curtains! Our front window is huge and I want something light and airy, but also something that gives us privacy. I’ve also avoided hanging anything up in our living room. The freshly painted walls are so pretty… I don’t want to hang something and then have regret and then end up with a hole in the wall! Slow and steady wins the race… lol.

Command strips are the bomb!! My daughter and I are both artists and my walls are full of art, all hung with strips!!

Is the movie on the left Sister Act? I’m guessing you’ll be having a boy.

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2015 at 3:43 pm

      yes!

I’m guessing girl based on one of your old posts 🙂

The quote on your coffee mug was the quote that stopped me dead in my tracks and inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a Registered Dietitian! I’m moving to Seattle this summer to do just that and start my grad program :).

    Have a wonderful morning!

I SO HOPE you have a boy this time around! I have a boy (just slightly younger than Liv – he was born 2/3/12 – your daughter was born right around my birthday BTW :)). Anywho, boys are so much fun and I think it’d awesome for the Pilot to have his own mini-me since you have yours 🙂 Love your blog!

I live in a tiny studio in Manhattan, so all of my decor choices recently have centered around functionality- can it double as storage? does it make the room look bigger or smaller? will it even physically fit through the door?

Definitely lusting over those grilled veggies- I’m trying to get my boyfriend to install a grill on our fire escape, but he’s against putting fire on the fire escape, so we’re at a standoff…

  8. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on May 19, 2015 at 7:58 am

Voted! Hopefully you will tell us and not leave us in suspense when you find out the gender.

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2015 at 3:42 pm

i’ll post it as soon as the fam knows!

  9. Hayley @ Full of Life on May 19, 2015 at 7:59 am

I am moving in a couple weeks and have been looking for design inspiration everywhere – love Cupcakes & Cashmere! I really like that piece you have on the wall that’s two book shelves with a table in between.. We are looking for something like that!

  10. Ashley B. on May 19, 2015 at 8:05 am

What kind of marinated mushrooms are you eating? I’m intrigued but I’ve had some yucky encounters with marinated mushrooms in the past 🙁

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2015 at 3:42 pm

the trader joe’s ones (jarred by the salad dressing). so so good

  11. April on May 19, 2015 at 8:24 am

Peonies are my favorite! 🙂 So beautiful. Hmmm… I’m guessing girl. I’m excited to find out the actual gender. Hope everything goes well at your doc appointment!

  12. jean on May 19, 2015 at 8:32 am

Love the books! I’ll have to add them to my Amazon wish list. And you’re having a girl 😉

  13. Erin @ Erin's Inside Job on May 19, 2015 at 8:46 am

That film book is too cool. Definitely perfect browsing material. You just reminded me that I haven’t had a burger in awhile. That needs to be remedied. Good luck at your ultrasound!

  14. Jenny @ apples &kale on May 19, 2015 at 9:02 am

I love the movie book…that’s a great one for a coffee table. My guess is GIRL! 🙂

  15. Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood on May 19, 2015 at 9:37 am

We have a very small house but 3 or 4 very large and blank walls that intimidate me! We moved in when my son was 5 weeks old so I used that as an excuse to not decorate but now he’ll be 1 next week so I feel like my excuse is null.now!

  16. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West on May 19, 2015 at 10:11 am

I have an empty second room in my new place that I’m thinking of turning into an office. Truth be told — it’s been a great workout room as is heheh, so I’m in no rush to get it set up! 🙂

  17. Maria on May 19, 2015 at 10:23 am

My coffee table has been causing me some anxiety as well. I bought an old wooden tray from an antique store, now I just have to figure out how to fill it. I also have to purchase some more picture frames for gallery wall I started this weekend. That project is not as easy as it looks! I’m guessing boy for baby #2!

  18. Tracy on May 19, 2015 at 10:50 am

Oh gosh! Exciting day for you all! Blessings! I hope baby is healthy and well!

  19. Kelly @ Corks and Kale on May 19, 2015 at 10:55 am

I’m having trouble decorating our table that is below our hanging tv (similar to your table below your circular mirror). I just have a great eye for decorating! Also, my at-home office. It’s pretty bare still as we just moved a few months ago…but I have no idea what to do with it!

  20. Chelsea @ TableForOne on May 19, 2015 at 11:12 am

What an exciting time for your family! That salad looks fabulous. You are my lunch inspiration for today!!

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2015 at 3:41 pm

      :)!

  21. Heather@hungryforbalance on May 19, 2015 at 11:22 am

LOVE those coffee table books! I am with you about the one on the left, but I am still not sure about the one on the right.

  22. Katie on May 19, 2015 at 12:07 pm

I love your coffee table! Where is it from!?

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2015 at 3:40 pm

      world market!

  23. queenoffitness on May 19, 2015 at 2:14 pm

    Left – Sister Act?
Right – the Italian Job or Blood diamond??? total stumper.

  24. Helen on May 19, 2015 at 3:10 pm

You’re not going to leave us in suspense, are you? What’s the movie on the right???

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2015 at 3:38 pm

the usual suspects. i’ve never seen it!

  25. Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me on May 19, 2015 at 3:36 pm

I have to say, I think it is another girl! Regardless, I just care that it is healthy and everyone is happy. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2015 at 3:37 pm

      amen to that 🙂

  26. Pam on May 19, 2015 at 3:37 pm

I could eat the dinner every single night! Yeah for hubby doing the cooking 🙂
Excited to find out if you’re having a boy or girl.
I am terrible at decorating, I love the way you decorate, nicely done!

  27. Sarah on May 19, 2015 at 4:03 pm

girl. totally girl. The camaraderie that naturally happens when you have the same gender siblings is something to envy! Once I already had a girl, I definitely wanted another so she could have a sister. Now, I have 3 girls :)) I would love 4 girls, if I wasn’t “up there” in age. I don’t have a sister, just one younger brother, so I am biased though. If I’d had a boy first, I’d have wished for another boy too. Same gender siblings are magical ~ take my word 😉 **fingers crossed it is a girl!!!**

    • Fitnessista on May 20, 2015 at 4:31 pm

      <3!

  28. Alex @ True Femme on May 19, 2015 at 5:21 pm

Those veggies look great! Do you just fold them in foil packets and pop them in the oven? I need to try that! I’m so excited for you to find out whether the baby is a boy or girl! xx

  29. Dawn on May 19, 2015 at 6:43 pm

I made that granola! Heavenly!!! I didn’t have almond meal so I subbed flaxmeal….still yummy!!

  30. Sarah E. M. on May 19, 2015 at 8:05 pm

Definitely think “It’s a girl!” Also, I’m not sure if you noticed, but you let the pronoun “her” slip in one of your previous blog posts when you were talking about the baby! 🙂 Either way, it’s so exciting!!

  31. Erin @ Her Heartland Soul on May 19, 2015 at 10:18 pm

I’m guessing GIRL!! Ahh I’m so excited for you!!

  32. Stephanie on May 20, 2015 at 5:22 am

I always wanted a boy and a girl but I had 2 girls and it is so much fun. I wouldn’t change it for the world. Basically with kids you just can’t go wrong. You get what you get and you don’t think twice about it 🙂

  33. missy on May 20, 2015 at 7:44 pm

    I hope for a happy healthy baby…
    a boy for liv.
but my guess is girl bc a few of your posts like Pink cake etc.
    or you’re throwing us off!!

it must be fun and weird having people know about you ,mostly fun!
thanks for sharing your life and your fun knowledge!
