Baby K’tan giveaway

It’s been quite a day over here.

Liv hasn’t had a single long nap –I’m scared for what tonight will be like because when she naps well, she sleeps well and vise versa- she’s on outfit change #4 and I’m on #3. We’re still trying to get her to have one long nap in the pack n’ play, and while Tom can get her to fall asleep on her own, I fail miserably. He puts her in the pack n’ play swaddled, stares at her until she starts to close her eyes and walks away. I do the same and when I walk away, she screams bloody murder. I’ll pick her up, pat her and “shhhhh,” put her back down and she wails. After two tries, she ends up in the Moby or Baby K’tan.

Since I didn’t know what types of baby carriers/wraps would work best for us, I researched like crazy and ended up buying the organic versions of the Moby, the Ergo and Baby K’tan. I haven’t used the Ergo with the infant insert yet –Tom loves it- but the Mody and K’Tan are staples.

carriers

I love them both, but think the design of the Baby K’Tan is much more user-friendly. Instead of being a gigantic piece of fabric that you have to tie and twist a certain way (I had to watch a few YouTube video how-tos), it consists of two large loops held together by a small loop + a support wrap.

baby ktan

I also prefer the Baby K’Tan because it’s easy to put on in public. With the Moby, I’ll have to tie it before I leave the house for wherever we’re going, and if Liv is in the stroller or carseat, I just look like I’m wearing some kind of ninja wrap. I can put the Baby K’Tan in the diaper bag to wear or remove easily. The stroller is more functional, but for quick shopping trips, friends’ houses and parties, the Baby K’Tan or Moby work extremely well.

When a Baby K’tan representative saw this photo of Liv snoozing in her favorite spot,

ktan

he kindly offered to do a giveaway for a lucky reader. The winner can pick any Baby K’tan carrier in a fabric/color of their choice- it also makes an awesome gift for an expectant friend.

Two ways to enter:

1. Leave a comment with a funny story about when you were a baby (or about your kiddos)

2. Tweet “I want to win @babyktan from @fitnessista “

The lucky winner will be chosen tomorrow (Tuesday, 3/13) night at midnight EST.

I love our ergo but have the same feelings as you about the moby. I had already invested in both or would’ve gone for the k’tan too! Here’s a funny story that just happened Sunday night. I always cut my hubby’s hair and we were doing that while the baby was running around our feet in his walker. As I was trimming his sideburns I looked up to see the baby shoveling a handful of hair into his mouth! Gross and took my 10 minutes to get all the hair out of his mouth and face. Lesson learned no haircuts while baby’s awake!

My best friend is due May 6th – this would be a great gift!!

I was a parrot as a kid. When I was 3, my parents were taking my grandma out for her birthday. Apparently, my mom mentioned to my dad that she hadn’t gone to the bank that day to move money from savings to checking (this was wayyyy before online banking ha!) so they needed to be careful what they spent. Being the loud-mouth that I was (am?!?), I stood on my chair in the restaurant and announced to the waiter that we had to be careful what we spent because we didn’t have the money. My mom still talks about how humiliated she was. Oops! 🙂

I would love to win this for a friend of mine who is pregnant. My funny story is that my third child who is now 17 months can hardly talk but does say “S@*T” when she drops something…yikes! Makes me want to be more careful about cursing!

I’ve always been on the hunt for the “perfect” carrier, and when my oldest was 18 months, I settled on an Ergo. It was brilliant for travelling overseas, with a baby and no extra adult hands to help me out ( hubby was deployed). Our first big outing was to The Netherlands with a group from our church. Everything was beautiful and magical; cobblestone streets, bicycles everywhere, little bridges…..little guy was riding along and taking in the sites too. Suddenly, someone in the group tells me, ” Oh no, he spit up in your hair !” I thought this was strange because despite how my american friends perceived nursing past a year old….spit up usually wasn’t involved. All at once, I realized, it wasn’t spit up….one of those birds, at that picturesque little bridge back there, had “bombed” me and somehow missed little guy completely ! He still loves to hear that story 🙂

    Hi Gina,

I have enjoyed reading your pregnancy and baby posts so much! I am 35.5 weeks and trying to gobble up as much information as I possibly can. I ordered an Ergo yesterday but am very interested in getting a carrier that is more like a wrap. I like the look of the Moby but the one large piece of fabric intimidates me! I got a chance to look at the K’Tan at my baby class last weekend and I thought it looked doable! A funny story from when I was a kid…one morning when I was about two I got up before my mom and somehow managed to make a concoction of powdered milk, water and coffee on the kitchen floor…she came down and was sure it was poop everywhere…still a giant mess but she was relieved to realize it was something a little more innocuous… 🙂

  6. Julie on March 13, 2012 at 11:45 am

This would be great for my 6 week old. I can’t see to find them where I live in Canada. Funny story… One of the first nights from the hospital I was changing my little man’s diaper and he decided to pee all over the wall. We’re talking about a few feet up the wall. As I was cleaning his mess and laughing he sneezed and poo shot out about two feet away. This is when I learned that you should put a diaper on BEFORE you clean any mess.

I’m about 16 and a half weeks pregnant with our first baby 🙂 When I was about 3, my mom took me walgreens and I wanted these adult sized sunglasses that were way too big for my face. When she said no, lets get you some smaller sunglasses that actually fit your little face, I threw the biggest tantrum…kicking and screaming on the floor. Needless to say, she was very embarrased and picked my up by the back of my overalls and took me out to the car. I still have a love of oversized sunglasses today 🙂

I would love to win a baby ktan. Our 3 month old daughter is so funny. I ESPN is on and she is not watching it she fusses. Hubby turns the bouncer around and she giggles and kicks her feet! Every time ESPN is on, she wants to be watching it with her daddy.

What a fun giveaway! When I was little, I loved the neighbor’s cat. It would come to our yard and I would pet it for as long as it would let me. One day, I picked up the cat and decided to see if it could swim. Yup– I tossed it into the swimming pool. My dad immediately scooped it out, but I don’t think it came back over to play after that!

  10. Liz on March 13, 2012 at 11:49 am

I am 29 weeks pregnant with my second and would love a Baby K’tan — I never found a great newborn carrier the first time (loved the Ergo once she was big enough, but did get tired of always readjusting it after my husband had worn it).

My daughter (21 months) loves to do what we call a “sandwich hug” (i.e, three beings/stuffed animals hugging with one of them in the middle — my husband and I give her sandwich hugs, and now she does them with her stuffed animals). Recently she was stalking one of our cats around while hugging her bear, saying “Pickle? Pickle! Sandwich hug, Pickle!” Strangely, Pickle was not inclined to join in the fun.

Boy would I love to win this!! I have a 9 year old, 7 year old, a BUSY 22 month old and a 4 month old so it would REALLY help me out as the 4 month old seems to always wanna be held and having to run after the 22 month old or work with the older two and hold her proves to be VERY difficult for me at times!!

My latest funny story has to do with my 22 month old. The other day his dad gave him a pudding cup for a snack and then of course dad left the house…Little man sat there and ate his pudding cup well for a little while and then I looked back over at him and watched as his little hand dipped into the cup and then he examined it and decided that it looked like it would make good lotion or something cause next thing he does is rubs it on his tummy. The scene in Austin Powers where the BIG man (his name is not appropriate to say) is laying on the bed and rubbing his chest and stomach saying “I’m dead sexy” comes to mind when I think of what my little man was doing. So then I brought it quietly to the big two’s attention and we sat there and laughed quietly (at first) as he painted his stomach with chocolate pudding. Then of course I had to get it on video. When I was taping my oldest tells him “Look at Mommy” and he looks at me and with his chocolate covered sweet (literally…lol) little face gives me the most cheezed out smile ever…Boy do I love me some cheeze and chocolate especially when it comes from my sweet little man!!

What a Great giveaway! Funny but sad story…When I was a baby we used to have a white cat that was a real beauty. It was the most lovable cat ever but I must have thought what an interesting creature it was because every time I got a chance that cats tail was pulled or it’s fur was grabbed. The poor thing eventually had enough and ran away from home and was never seen again!

I have two beautiful girls! My soon to be two year old makes us laugh constantly. She’s full of expressions and knows how to make tons of them on command. For example, when she does her “mad” face it consists of her eye brows being pushed together, her eyes looking serious, and a frown. But the minute she knows she gets a laugh, she switches back to her sweet beautiful smile and her big hazel eyes light up! She doesn’t know a stranger and loves to wave to everyone! My 6 month old girl is out cuddle bug and loves to be in a wrap! I’ve been wanting a baby k’tan for months now. I love my Moby, but when trying to go to the store, I end up dragging it on the pavement when trying to wrap it correctly. I would love the baby k’tan because it’s way faster and easier on the go!

  15. Nichole S on March 13, 2012 at 11:52 am

I love my Baby K’Tan! I need a second “breeze” model for this summer 🙂

My mom loves to tell the story that my dad carried me on his shoulders everywhere, and dad used to have this bad spitting habit. I guess one day he did it while I was up there and I spat a big puddle into his hair and rubbed it around. Dad quit spitting after that! *lol*

  16. Ann on March 13, 2012 at 11:53 am

I love my K’Tan! I have it in black, and want to get the breeze for summer. It is my little guy’s absolutely favorite napping spot, he gets all smiley and excited when he sees me putting it on.

While at a grown-up party when I was 3 and my sister was 7, she overheard my mother saying that I needed a haircut. She decided to take it upon herself and trimmed my bangs. Completely, until they were gone. It took months for them to grow back to normal!

  17. Anna @ The Guiltless Life on March 13, 2012 at 11:53 am

Aw I hope she gets some sleep! I just met up with a friend of mine who recently gave birth and she looked tired so I asked if she was sleeping and her reply was: “Sleep? What’s that?” Her baby’s pretty colicky so I understand that can make things worse. Hang in there!

  18. Morgan L on March 13, 2012 at 11:54 am

I don’t have one particularly funny story, but a memory comes to mind. I have two older brothers and we would all fight like cats and dogs! However, when one of us would accidentally break something around the house (possibly during one of the aforementioned fights), we would band together! It was never anything major, but we always thought we’d get into HUGE trouble. So out came the glue, scissors, and tape! It makes me laugh thinking about how well we worked in those situations!

As far as the Moby, Baby K’tan, Baby Bjorn…I’m lost!! We’re expecting our first in July and I found myself staring at these items in Babies R Us absolutely baffled.

  20. Marlen on March 13, 2012 at 11:56 am

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with #2 and this would come in SO handy to carry the little one while tending to my first!!

What I find so funny with my first is that he used to be shy when it came time to getting undressed and being seen “naked”. Now, he can strip down completly and run around the house, shaking his little tushie and saying “look at my bun-buns!!” LOL

  21. Alyssa on March 13, 2012 at 11:57 am

Thanks for the great giveaway! We’re getting ready to welcome a baby girl in less than 4 weeks and would love a K’tan. At about 1 year old, my hair was still taking some time to grow in. It was very fine, with the smallest curls but my mom was so anxious to put some hair ties and bows on my head that she decided to get the little hair i had and put it in two little ponytails. She says that when we went to visit my aunt, she laughed so hard and said “Esta chica tiene sólo tres pelos, pero son los mejores tres pelos cepillados!” hahaa… I still get teased about it to this day and am now 24 years old. LOL

  22. Kathryn on March 13, 2012 at 11:59 am

I want to win the baby ktan because I’m expecting a little girl this June! Hmmm…a funny story…when I was a toddler I used to use nail polish to paint the carpet. Whoops! I hope my daughter is more well behaved than I was!

My best friend is due in May and I would love to give this to her as a gift! A funny story that my grandma always told me was that when I was little she would sing a song to be while we drove in the car. It was about fishies swimming over a dam, but I would always say that they swam over the dam* thing. She always tried to explain to me that this was a different type of dam, but haha, I guess I never stopped saying it.

I am dying to try the Baby K’tan carrier with the twins I am pregnant with. I loved the Moby we had several years ago but I live in Oregon and negotiating those long cumbersome straps while out and about, trying to keep them from dragging on the rain soaked pavement while managing a newborn about did me in. Once on of course we enjoyed it immensely.

My funny story, and believe me I have a lot with my bunch, was a few days ago. I was writing a couple of letters and addressing envelopes. My 4 year old asked me to write her name down so she could practice writing it. About five minutes and several squiggly names later she looked up at me and said “Is your REAL name Mommy”? I laughed so hard, before realizing I often don’t hear my “real” name. But Mommy is the one I prefer. 🙂

  26. Rebecca on March 13, 2012 at 12:01 pm

I love this picture…this is how I see carrying around my little one…in about 25 weeks! Funny story, when I was almost 2 my mom and I were out shopping and I saw this little Bert stuffed doll from Sesame Street. I wanted it soooo bad, threw a fit and of course she said no even more adamantly and put it back on the shelf…or so sh e thought. We made it home and my mom was unpacking her bags and pulling stuff out of her purse…where she found Bert. She tells me now that she laughed hysterically and couldn’t see her two year old learning a lesson about stealing by making me take it back. She went back to the store and paid for it but to this day I look at the Bert doll and giggle. Congrats on your beautiful girl, I love your blog with or without a Baby K’tan. Thabks for the awesome chance at this giveaway!

Hello! My sister is due April 26th and I would love to give this to her as a gift! When I was 4, I got lost in Kmart. I marched right up to the security desk and said “Hi. My name is Nicole. I am 4 years old and I am lost. My mom’s name is Pat”. My mother was frantically looking for me until she heard over the loudspeaker “Pat. Paging Pat. We have your lost daughter at the security desk”. Clearly, I was a shy child…

I’d love to try the K’tan.

My niece the other day didn’t want to where a shirt under her sundress (it was too cold for that type of dress). she said “my dress doesn’t have macaroni sleeves!” we realized she meant spaghetti straps but we convinced her to wear a shirt underneath anyways.

I would love to win..I am 17 weeks preggers and have been researching on which would be best to invest in…i have two funny stories the first is about my little brother, I was about 13 when he was born so i acted as a little mom right away. Well when he learned to crawl we always had to keep an eye on him because he always found trouble. One day i went to pick him up off the floor and noticed he was chewing something so i try to get him to open his mouth and see a little leg…of a CRICKET! I was so grossed out that i just took him to my mom and had her take the cricket out of his mouth. My second story is about my now 8 year old, a few days after bringing her home from the hospital i had her on my lap changing her diaper and not only did she pee on me but she pooped on me to…now its that newborn poop…kinda gross looking..and i have a picture of it and she laughs at me now for it.

well those are my stories funny and gross…I hope i win..Thanks again for this giveaway. 😡

I would love to get this for my cousin- she is expecting her baby boy in 2 weeks!

I was a Navy kid and my dad was a captain. When I was three apparently I LOVED lobster so I snuck up to the commander in chief’s plate at dinner one night and stole his lobster while he wasn’t looking. He was so confused but luckily he liked kids and just laughed it off haha.

  32. Debbie on March 13, 2012 at 12:09 pm

I don’t need a K’tan. But i just wanted to comment on the naps. My son does the exact same thing to me. He cries and if I go into the room to comfort him, he wants me to take him out. I can’t calm him down and it is so frustrating. So my husband took over. He goes in, talks to him, he calms down and goes to sleep. I call him the baby whisperer! I think they just know that mommy will cave!

I agree! Same thing with me and my husband!

  33. Steph on March 13, 2012 at 12:10 pm

I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with my second baby boy! With my first, I used the Baby Bjorn every single day and it killed my back. I’ve been shopping around for a new baby carrier, so this would be perfect for me! Hmm a funny story. Where to begin? My almost-2-year-old loves to grab chocolate that’s still in its wrapper and run and hide under the table with it. I reached into the drawer yesterday to have a piece of chocolate after lunch, and every piece had teeth marks through the wrapper!

  34. Diana on March 13, 2012 at 12:11 pm

There are very few pictures of me as a baby or young child. Why, you ask? Because I insisted on wearing the strainer on my head like a hat. My parents still have the large metal contraption. I think there are two pictures of me with it on; I look like an R2D2 reject.

The one picture I HAVE found of me is me with a large Viking helmet askew. Apparently I’ve had a love of hats all my life. That, and my parents really should have realized what I would grow up to be like based on the Viking picture alone…

  35. Sarah T on March 13, 2012 at 12:11 pm

I can’t wait to try a baby k’tan I have heard rave reviews! My son loves to be in a carrier but the other one I have kills my back and shoulders.
When I was little maybe 2 1/2 I was sitting on the floor coloring and my baby sister was sitting in her bouncy seat wearing nothing but a diaper. The phone ran and my mom ran out of the room to grab it she wasn’t gone more than a couple minutes, but I seized the opportunity. Apparently I though my baby sister was boring and she would look a lot cooler in rainbow colors! When mom came back in the room I had colored her from head to toe in magic marker! Mom was laughing so hard as she scrubbed her in the tub that I didn’t even get in any trouble. It took forever to wear off!

Yesterday, my 9 week old was propped up on my knees while I was eating a snack. Right as I was takings bite, she projectile vomited…into my mouth. Needless to say, we both hopped in the shower with our clothes on. It was everywhere! Gross and absolutely hilarious.

I really want the baby k’tan! I love my moby, but after reading all the benefits of the k’tan, I think it looks much more convenient.

  38. Alicia on March 13, 2012 at 12:13 pm

I love my Ergo but would like to try this one out too! Baby #2 is going to get carried everywhere. My son (20 months) loves playing basketball right now and every time we get in the car and drive past houses, he looks for basketball hoops, and when he sees one says, “ba ball OOP!” Then he keeps saying “more ba ball OOP” till he sees another one. Always cracks me up.

My mum was great fun and once created a treasure hunt in the garden with loads of little green sweets…so I promptly found and ate them all, once I was done, I showed my mum my green tongue, she absolutely freaked! – As I’d eaten all the slug pelletts from the garden!!!! I got taken to hospital to have my stomach pumped out and If the story couldn’t get funnier (or worse I guess) she was 6months pregnant with my younger brother & when she picked me up to take me to the hospital she slipped a disc in her back!!!! I havent quite looked at “treasure hunts” the same since.
I absolutely love your headliner by the way…being fit is always in style-awesome

I would love to win a K’tan! I have a Moby, but I am short so it is very difficult for me to get it all wrapped around without it all over the floor. And I am about 32 weeks pregnant with #3 in 3 years so I need a good newborn carrier!
My husband always “turns”his ear and sucks in a long spagetti, the kids love it. One night we sat down to eat and my two year old had a noodle hanging out of her mouth. She reached up and stuck her sauce covered finger in her ear and sucked the noodle up. It was so cute, so proud of herself that she could make her ear work too 😀

I would love this carrier! When I was 3 years old my grandparents were babysitting me and I was alone in the living room watching cartoons…apparently my barrette wouldn’t stay put so I got some scissors and cut a big chunk of my hair…then I proceeded to hide the hair and scissors under a chair. After my mom picked me up and realized that some of my hair was missing she asked me what happened and I told her my grandpa did it. Then my grandma found the evidence I had hidden and told my mom. I admitted to doing saying it was because I couldn’t see the cartoons!

So I can’t think of a funny story of when I was a baby, but I know that I was very difficult when taken to a professional photographer. My husband and I are expecting our first in July and recently had a gender reveal party. I decorated with my husband and I’s 3 month baby pics…when my husband saw my baby pic he got a very strange look on his face and I think he started hoping for a boy…words cannot describe how hideous the picture was!!!
