Bread to my Soul

Hey guys 😀 Happy [Fashion] Friday! Hope you have something fun going on this weekend 🙂

Last night, the Pilot and I went to dinner with my friend Jeni. She’s been out-of-town for a month and I missed her like crazy!

We dined at 306 North, one of our Valdizzy favorites.

rose

For an appetizer, we all shared the fritto misto, a plate of buttermilk-battered and fried veg.

appetizer

Calamari, okra, potatoes and pickles with a chipotle aioli. The pickles were the best part 🙂

The bread to my soul:

bread

Grainy, wheaty fresh-baked rolls.

House salad with balsamic on the side:

salad

and for my entree, the vegetable plate with sweet potato mash, balsamic mushrooms, broccolini and asparagus

veg

Bella chewed on a rawhide bone that Jeni gave her- it was the length of her maltipoo body!

bella

(The bald spot on her arm is from when the puppers got their teeth cleaned a few weeks ago)

We had to take Viesa to the kennel because the moving and packing was really stressing her out. She had a seizure, which only happens when she’s scared or stressed to the max 🙁 Poor baby.

We finished packing the POD, though.

It went from this:

pod

to THIS:

pod (2)

Stuffed to the MAX.

In the beginning, we were so meticulous about where everything went. By the end, we were just cramming boxes in. I’m a little horrified for when the time comes and we have to unpack it.

Peace out, POD 😀

Well I’m off to pick up Vies at the kennel, grab some b-fast and head to work.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

xoxo,

Gina

    Poor Viesa!

My husband and I used something similar to PODS and let me tell you, they are secure and stuff didn’t shift as much as I thought!

I look forward to the post about purses!

  2. Laury @ thefitnessdish on September 17, 2010 at 7:46 am

I need a new purse, but my all time fav is my Louis Vuitton recital bag…classic, love it!!

your pics are very pretty! are you still not using a flash just in “P” mode in the low restaurant lighting, or are you popping up the flash (bc it doesn’t look like it, lighting looks great)

    happy Friday!

  3. Heather (Perspective Is Everything) on September 17, 2010 at 7:47 am

I think I could eat that veggie plate every day of my life! that looks so good 🙂
Purses, eh? Never been big on purses. I’ve had the same little backpack purse for about 11 years now!
I’m not one of those women who carries alot of stuff with me,(planner/phone/wallet) so it suits me just fine and still works! 😀

  4. Cara Craves... on September 17, 2010 at 7:58 am

    Cute purse!
    Delicious dinner!

I love purses but I am super cheap…I feel guilty spending money on them even though I know that a good one is like an “investment piece.” Gotta get over that one.

  5. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on September 17, 2010 at 8:03 am

I can’t believe how much work you guys have down the past few days/wks. I hope you get some time to relax soon!

my favorite purse is one that i got on sale at anthropologie…it’s this big navy blue bag with a rosette and TONS of pockets. perfect!

Awww, poor Viesa!! Moves are stressful for EVERYONE– including dogs!

  8. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on September 17, 2010 at 8:04 am

    Melie Bianco!!
I’ve gotten a couple off ebay, brand new, and they’re some of my faves. Not too expensive either!
I have my fashion Friday coming up later this morning. 😉 Happy Friday!

  9. Joslyn (missfitbliss) on September 17, 2010 at 8:04 am

I love purses. They’re my favorite thing to shop for and buy. But I only buy a new one like once in a blue moon because I usually spend a lot on them. I’m the girl walking around in the cheapo outfit, canvas TOMS, and super expensive leather purse! Such an oxymoron;)

  10. Barbara on September 17, 2010 at 8:11 am

poor viesa, awwwh, she was stressed. i love purses but i rarely purchase one. they’re always so expensive to me so if anyone knows how to get cute purses at great prices, i’d love to hear it!

  11. Paige @Running Around Normal on September 17, 2010 at 8:12 am

Yum – dinner looks great! Especially the mashed sweet taters:)

Aw, poor Vieserton:( At least you’re all packed up now. I agree, packing is for the birds.
I’ve just started browsing for fall bags…unbeknownst to my husband 😉 So I’m not sure yet!

  12. Tina on September 17, 2010 at 8:13 am

    Looks like a great dinner!

And you guys sure did pack that thing. Remember that unpacking is always easier. Silver lining, right? 😉

  13. Jackie (Army Wife Extraordinaire) on September 17, 2010 at 8:13 am

I spy a gorilla box! I’ve never tried a pod but I’m liking the concept of it for next time I need one.

  14. CaSaundra on September 17, 2010 at 8:13 am

Those battered pickles do sound good!! The whole meal looks yummy though! 🙂

  15. Beth @ bride in the little white dress on September 17, 2010 at 8:18 am

Mmm, that dinner looks delish! You can never go wrong with warm doughy heaven in my opinion.

I’m really loving the Coach Mia Leather Harper Satchel in Plum because the color is gorgeous. And I also like Mrac by Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Flap Pouchette (http://www.shopbop.com/petal-metal-flap-pouchette-marc/vp/v=1/845524441871576.htm?folderID=2534374302023816&fm=browse-brand-shopbysize-viewall) The bird design on the front makes it special. 🙂

    I am loving this bag:

It’s going to be my first big purchase when I finally get a job. 🙂

  17. Ilana on September 17, 2010 at 8:25 am

Awwww poor puppy!! I’m glad you guys got it all done, though. Hardcore!!

I’ve been carrying my orange Longchamps tote for a while now and it’s so classic and goes from season to season flawlessly – especially since I picked a color that is somehow all-seasons. I’ve also been carrying around this little gem lately http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=490491&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-n-_-n-_-n but I got it on sale two seasons ago online somewhere. I guess I really like colors! But what I really want right now is a classic leather slouchy purse. I like my bags big so I can throw everything in there, too.

Aww poor Viesa!! Probably the best for her, though. I like my Longchamp bags for all times of the year. They’re simple and match everything, and are total bottomless pits- perfect for the amount of stuff I schlep around on a regular basis!

I’m obsessed with the large leather hobo… I bought it at the Coach outlet a couple of weeks ago for less than half price.. I got the last one in the store 🙂 It’s a camel color and is the perfect bag for fall!!

  29. Kilee on September 17, 2010 at 10:14 am

That veggie plate looks sooo good! Good luck with the move. Just remember to stay calm, even when everything is crazy, and it will all work out in the end 🙂 Have a great Friday!

    But I can’t decide… I like this one too: http://www.zappos.com/kenneth-cole-new-york-circular-motion-large-hobo-luggage-leather?zfcTest=prodPage2a:0

  33. Beth on September 17, 2010 at 10:32 am

I laughed at the picture of your full pod because I’m pretty sure we have the same TV!! Get this — we have it filling our fireplace. We never use that one because we have wood burning stoves that are much more efficient, so…. we have the TV filling it, and since we don’t have a TV connection, it’s used for exercise videos.

I just finished clearing out my mom’s house — we did it in about four days — sold or moved the entire contents. So, I feel for what you’re going through — moving is not easy. I hope I never have to again!!! Good luck.

Soory to hear about V. 🙁 poor puppers!!

  37. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on September 17, 2010 at 12:26 pm

so sorry Miss V had some seizure(s). Omg, that breaks my heart that she was so stressed and you guys totally did the right thing to get her out of the stressful mix. Our dogs used to go beside themselves when we would move. And our cat too. We moved once a year, for like the last 10, so sadly, I have practice with stressed out animals. Good call on what you did.

But what I wanted to say was that Im lovin’ the bag and wallet! So chic!

My fave purses, well, Chanel, Louis V, Gucci. They are always the ones I drool over in magazines 🙂

  38. Stacy on September 17, 2010 at 12:35 pm

I used to love Coaches but now it seems that everyone has one. I love the classiness and versatility of a Chanel. I hope your little puppy Viesa feels better, seizures can be pretty scary.

  39. Lauren on September 17, 2010 at 12:36 pm

We are looking into a POD for our upcoming move. We need to store our stuff for 2 months while our house is being built and it sounds like the POD is the way to go.

  40. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on September 17, 2010 at 1:05 pm

Wow you guys made so much progress with packing up. Nice going! 😀 Poor Bella though. I hope she’s doing okay! <3

I’ve been wanting one of the Longchamp tote purses for a while now. They aren’t anything super trendy, but I think they are the perfect travel purse and clean easily. A friends of mine brought hers to Europe with us and it was perfect for our little day excursions. I also love the fun colors they come in.

  44. Sassy Molassy on September 17, 2010 at 2:35 pm

And, I loved just clicking through all the links above from other fabulous readers. It reminded me that it’s not bad to look for trendy purses (although not necessarily super high designers) at TJMaxx or Marshalls (which dont have in my town). That’s a great way to find something fun with a great color or style that you don’t feel bad about spending a little $ on if it goes out of style in a few months.

  45. Ilana on September 17, 2010 at 3:13 pm

btw- if you’re ever in the need of some online retail experience with amazing brands, I dunno if you belong to Gilt Groupe but it’s pretty much the best website ever. I’ve spent way too much on there but I love every single thing I’ve purchased – so worth it! You *might* love it!

My favorite purses lately are the seatbelt bags by Harveys. Ever heard of them? Some are made from recycled seatbelts while others have simple, classic designs from muti-colored seatbelt material. They are so DURABLE too!

The one that I purchased here: http://www.seatbeltbags.com/blandwhlasae.html

I love my Jessica Simpson python satchel bag. Not too expensive, but just the right size & color.

I’m a purse fanatic. My husband likes to buy me purses for special occasions, and he has good taste, so it works out! 🙂 I have several Longchamp totes, Marc Jacobs purses, and Louis Vuitton bags that I include in the regular rotation, but I’ve been buying Kate Spade like it’s my job lately… I am currently carrying this purse in Cobalt blue: http://www.katespade.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4298760&cp=1863844.3744578
I think they discontinued the Cobalt color, but they offer it in different colors every season.
