Fall-ing for purses

So you guys know I have a purse “thing.” I’m not a shoe-crazy girl, pretty conservative with cosmetics, but live for handbags and jeans. The Pilot already knows that as much as I love jewelry, a designer handbag is my #1.

[+ matching clutch?! Major husband points]

Since non-maternity jeans are kinda out for me this season, I may have to live it up in the purse department 😉

Here are some of the ones I love for fall:

Retro styles are huge right now

(love the two-tone, too!)

and so is the price tag for that one 😉 Might be looking for something similar…

Animal print is usually a little *much* for me when it comes to clothes (reminds me of a pink, long, feathery cheetah pimp jacket we had to wear for a dance recital), but it’s great for accessories (like cheetah print flats or an animalistic handbag)

The crossbody style is still going strong, and I love the red color as a neutral

or basic black:

Jewel tones are always hawt in Autumn, and this HM bag is only $49:

Metallic always make me think of holiday sparkle… which makes me very happy 😀

Are you a purse girl? Jean girl? Shoe girl? All-of-the-above girl?

Please don’t say you hate shopping. Every time a girl says “I hate shopping”, a fairy falls down dead 😉

LOVE purses! I like the ones you love! I used to be such a gucci girl but recently getting bored with the same old gucci style just a different color, I just bought this Marc Jacobs off Neiman Marcus, I fell in love with it, its big enough to hold my life in and the studs give it a edgy and cute look!

ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! (sorry, did I just shout that??)

Tend to go a little crazy for the accessories, but you can’t beat an excellent pair of jeans 🙂

  3. Lindsay on September 2, 2011 at 6:47 pm

I’m a coat girl! I love all types of jackets and coats… blazers, trench coats, pea coats, even rain jackets! Love fall for that very reason – I can start wearing jackets again 🙂

  4. Lisa on September 2, 2011 at 6:49 pm

I’m a jean girl through and through. Really, nothing speaks to me like premium denim!

  5. Elle on September 2, 2011 at 6:49 pm

I would have to say I love shoes and also seem to “collect” cardigans/jackets – I just can’t get enough!

  6. Marguerite Miller on September 2, 2011 at 6:49 pm

I’m not a big shopper in ant department really! I would say kitchen gadgets are my downfall! I hate trying on clothes! And I can’t buy something that I don’t know how it looks, because I never take it back!

  7. Vicki on September 2, 2011 at 6:51 pm

I go crazy for shoes. I just bought the most beautiful knee high brown leather boots for Autumn. *swoon*

  8. Kristina @ spabettie on September 2, 2011 at 6:54 pm

handbag and shoe girl all the way!

    I like dresses too… and jewelry. 😉

  9. Johanna on September 2, 2011 at 6:56 pm

    Purses all the way!

  10. Ashley @ Healthy Heroine on September 2, 2011 at 6:58 pm

Shoes are my fashion lovers. 🙂 I’ve never understood the love for jeans, perhaps I’ve just never found a great pair?

  11. Missy on September 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Love animal prints on others. I love me some jewelry and handbags! I have a separate closet for them!

  12. kayleigh on September 2, 2011 at 7:10 pm

this is my first time really commenting on your blog, but i just wanted to tell you how much i love it. i’ve been reading for the past year now and look forward to every post! and your comment about fairies…so true. (:

  13. Kathryn @ Flopoodle on September 2, 2011 at 7:11 pm

Jeans and shoes! I am too lazy to be a purse girl because it would mean I would need to transfer things from one bag to another, and that’s just too much effort for me 🙂

  14. Jessie Deschane on September 2, 2011 at 7:13 pm

    Shoes, for sure!! 🙂

  15. Tiffany on September 2, 2011 at 7:21 pm

Definately shoes & jeans!! I told my hubby not to long ago I was going to get my shoes organized by taking polaroid snap shots of them & taping the picture on the end of each box so I’d know what pair of shoes was where~ his reply was there was no way NO way I could afford that much polaroid film..haha! Everytime I hear a woman say she hates shopping, I don’t believe them anyway… 😉 I’ve recently bought two pair of Toms & love them- comfortable shoes & helping with a cause is a good thing!!

  16. Kristen on September 2, 2011 at 7:23 pm

I’m the exact same way! Definitely a purse kind of girl. Except no matter how many purses I buy, I use them for a bit, but I always end up going back to the same old timeless, simple, favorite purse. It should make me stop buying them, but it doesn’t!

  17. christina on September 2, 2011 at 7:28 pm

Earrings are my weakness… shoes aren’t far behind but I probably buy a new pair of earrings most weeks! Luckily it’s a fairly cheap habit!

  18. Natalcho @ Tomatoes Rock on September 2, 2011 at 7:31 pm

I definitely go for jewellery every time:) But purses work too:) and jeans…and SHOES…oh, the SHOES!

  19. Nicole @ Giraffelegs on September 2, 2011 at 7:32 pm

ohhh I am a shoes and makeup girl. Right now I am super into bright red lipstick. I feel like it’s a pick me up for any outfit

  20. Rebecca on September 2, 2011 at 7:32 pm

I’m like you–bags and denim. And great sunglasses, too. I like to splurge on amazing jeans, a statement bag and a really flattering pair of shades and then mix it up with less expensive options to diversify my wardrobe.

  21. Morgan jones on September 2, 2011 at 7:34 pm

Shoe girl!!!! Great deals are always at Marshalls, Tj Maxx, and DSWs<3

  22. Melissa on September 2, 2011 at 7:35 pm

I’m not too much of a shopper. I used to love shoes, but somewhere along the way my husband broke me of that habit. I do love skirts, casual or dressy. They make up a huge portion of my wardrobe and nearly my entire work wardrobe.

  23. Amanda on September 2, 2011 at 7:54 pm

Oh man… it’s like you have ESP or something! I just bought a new fall bag from Michael Kors!!!! I’m a purse and jeans girl all the way : D I could look at purses ALL DAY.

  24. Alison on September 2, 2011 at 7:55 pm

YES! And a “shoes” girl. And a “dress” girl. And…*cough.* Back to purses though, I just got a chartreuse Kate Spade for work. Love <3

  25. ellen on September 2, 2011 at 7:55 pm

Shopping online is great for purses, jewelry, etc., but shopping at the mall is such a beating. I can only do that about 2-3 times a year without completely going insane. I make an annual trek to Nordstrom to smell perfumes & look at shoes, jeans, and makeup.

  26. Jaime on September 2, 2011 at 8:06 pm

Hey Gina- What color is your Marc by Marc Jacobs bag you posted about a few months ago? I’ve been wanting that bag (in that color) forever and have been putting it off and now that I’m ready to buy, I can’t find that color anywhere!! Was it a summer color?

  27. Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance on September 2, 2011 at 8:09 pm

Oh I am TOTALLY a purse girl over a shoe girl ANY DAY. 😉

  28. Chelsa on September 2, 2011 at 8:13 pm

I love purses and shoes. I couldn’t choose one over the other. I really love it all though. Jewelry, Watches, sunnies, scarves… It goes in a rotation for me.

  29. Emma @ Microcosm of Life on September 2, 2011 at 8:14 pm

I think I’m a shirt and dress girl! I don’t buy many shoes, because my feet hurt really easily. I can never tell if shoes will hurt me until it is too late to return them!

  30. Rachel on September 2, 2011 at 8:34 pm

I Live for Ebay. And for Anthropologie Sale Tuesdays. Every Tuesday is Christmas for me. 🙂 I like the little red purse a lot, but I usually carry big ol’ honkin handbags. I’ve been rockin my LV Reporter for more than a decade. The only time I’ll spend serious change on a bag is when I know I’ll wear it forever, That bag will be coming to the nursing home with me. Word. Yay for presents!

  31. Michelle @ Crazy*Running*Legs on September 2, 2011 at 8:46 pm

    All of the above 🙂

Did you just tease us and not tell us what he bought you???

    • Ashley on September 2, 2011 at 8:57 pm

Yes I would also like to know what is in the beautifully wrapped Princess paper! haha

  32. Emily on September 2, 2011 at 9:09 pm

I am on a purse and shoes hunt right now!! I just got a cute pair of nude pumps and am now on the search for the perfect fall bag. I am thinking something structured, shoulder, and maybe navy blue??? Now that I have the image in my head I’ll neverrr find it!

  33. Lissy on September 2, 2011 at 9:33 pm

I LOVE shopping, but I hate spending money. I can shop for hours and hours and not buy a damn thing and still be perfectly content. The best is when I find something I love at a great price. I’m big on earrings, shoes and purses. But everything I buy must have a practical purpose. I must always prove that I *need* it for something. Of course the more I like something, the easier it becomes to justify it 😛 I came really close to buying these crazy pink heels one time, even though I knew full well I would never wear them. In the end I didn’t get them because my feet were sliding through even at the smallest size they had, but by golly, they were almost mine.

  34. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on September 2, 2011 at 9:52 pm

I am definitely an all of the above girl. Put me in a shopping mall for a day and I’ll be as happy as a pig in mud.

As much as I love purses though, I’m having such a hard time finding the perfect one for fall. They’re all either too big or too small, too shiny or too rough, too bright or too boring, etc. 😛

  35. J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) on September 2, 2011 at 10:10 pm

I’m a purse and general accessories girl! Love pocket books and sunglasses, they are my weakness. I’ve had the addiction since I was 12, lol.

  36. Laura on September 2, 2011 at 10:31 pm

I think I’m a product junkie kind of girl. I like to think of Ulta and Sephora as a grown up girls candy store 🙂
I’m a sucker for cute packaging which could be part of the appeal.

I tend to say that I’m not really a big fan of shopping but now I will have to think twice about that since I’m no fairy killer 🙂

  37. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on September 2, 2011 at 10:55 pm

    Purses for sure!

Jeans..meh. I buy them and then never wear them. Yoga or drawstring pants end up ruling my life 🙂

And shoes..my feet are too big to fit into any cute styles so I rock flipflops and Uggs most of the time.

But purses, oh, I could have a field day 🙂

Love all of them that you showed!

  38. Katie @ Plates and Paste on September 2, 2011 at 11:05 pm

Def not jeans…it’s always hard to find the perfect pair. Love shoes and I wasn’t always into handbags but my mom’s love for them finally rubbed off on me 🙂

  39. Lisa @ Fresh Spinach on September 3, 2011 at 1:24 am

I’m totally a shoe girl. It’s killing me that I haven’t been able to wear heels in months, though! Walking through the shoe department is like “water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink.”

  40. Aleksis on September 3, 2011 at 2:29 am

Very unfortunately I am an all of the above girl..although I really don’t go nuts for purses, I have about 3 good staples.

  41. Megan @ Long Distance Relationship on September 3, 2011 at 6:20 am

All of the above for sure! Although I favor purses and shoes because at 5’2 it is hard to find jeans that fit right from the store, I usually end up taking a trip to the tailor. Purses and shoes work on any height and I can wear them both right away!

  42. Lindsey on September 3, 2011 at 9:24 am

Purse girl for sure! My husband just bought me a new Coach bag and wallet for our anniversary 🙂 I also love coats but purses will always be #1 in my heart too!

  43. Chelsea on September 3, 2011 at 9:52 am

As far as things I’d be mo inclined to splurge on, it would definitely be dresses for me. I don’t love dress pants and it’s hard for me to find blouses and jackets that fit me properly, do dresses have become my go to for work. Plus theymake getting dressed in the morning so much easier and they make me feel a little sexy 🙂

  44. Jennifer on September 3, 2011 at 10:05 am

I am definitely a makeup girl and a shoe girl, sadly shoes never last me very long because I love them and wear them everyday and I am lucky to get more than a year out of a pair of shoes. I also love to buy lipstick and eyeshadow but I don’t really collect it I just like to try new products. I used to be crazy about purses, I had 36 at one point, but with my more minimalistic lifestyle now I only have 5 purses, I still like them but I would rather have a spa than get a new purse unless I need to replace one.

  45. Natalie @ southern fit foodie on September 3, 2011 at 11:54 am

Shoes and jeans all the way! I do like to find cute purses, but I usually end up carrying the same one forever.

  46. Elizabeth on September 3, 2011 at 12:57 pm

I will not say it… but I am going to think it. 😉

I like watching expert shoppers shop! It amazes me the stuff they find! And I could curl up and die happy in the Anthropologie website. Dresses are my weakness.

  47. alyssa on September 3, 2011 at 1:39 pm

I am a serious designer denim addict…….. like it’s really kind of insane. I am afraid to even count how many pairs of jeans I have in my closet/stuffed in my drawers. It’s like my only vice though, I could care less about handbags and jewelrey but denim is a majorrrrr downfall for me. Actually it’s gotten to the point where my mom has made me vow not to buy ANYTHING for ONE WHOLE YEAR (clothing)! Which should be fine….. as long as I stay away from online places like Revolve…. it’s going to be a challenge but I really want to stay committed to it.

  48. Jess on September 3, 2011 at 2:47 pm

Oooooh I think I’m in *LOVE* with the Cole Haan bag… and I’m definitely more of a jeans and outerwear girl than a bag girl. Uh oh, this may be a problem haha.

  49. Sarah on September 3, 2011 at 3:10 pm

I’m definitely an outerwear girl! I’ve been living in cooler climates for a while now, which means lots of salt and slush for my shoes to survive. 🙁 Sad times…I don’t want to think about how many boots I’ve destroyed. I guess I’m really an “everything girl,” but lately I’ve been crazy about suiting pieces!

  50. Lauren on September 3, 2011 at 5:38 pm

i’ve wanted the bigger version of the tory amanda for so long. i wish the hardware was gold, though!
