{Giveaway} Dehydration Station

Hiiiiii 😀 Happy Indian Food Wednesday! How’s your day going?

I’m so glad you guys liked the video I posted last night– pretty amazeballz, huh? I also LOVED reading about your pets’ nicknames. Glad we’re not the only weirdos out there 😉

(check out that LEG sticking out! She’s so funny)

We just got back from this morning’s 30 minute walk, and also went to the dog park (DP) so Bella could chase her friends around and collapse in the dirt.

B-fast for the Pilot:

pilot

(Sourdough English muffin with sundried tomato goat cheese, organic turkey, an over easy egg on each side, and 1/2 avocado with berries)

Perfect protein pancakes for me:

pancakes

BANANA SPLIT protein pancakes with a square of dark chocolate, 1/2 banana, organic strawberries and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Yes, yes, yesssssssssssssss <—-foodgasm

So I wanted to say a little “thank you” for being so lovely and supportive since the Pilot has been home, with house hunting and life in general, so I asked my friends at OpenSky if we could do a lil giveaway.

When I picked the item, I wanted it to be something I use all the time and LOVE, so it was really an easy choice.

Oh my stars! This is exciting!! I actually just bought kale for the first time ever a couple of days ago and wanted to make kale chips. I tried making them in the oven, but they didn’t really crisp up. But, I found that eating the kale with the nooch mixture was fabulous raw too! I would love a dehydrator to make “real” kale chips! 🙂

  2. Ariel on April 7, 2011 at 9:02 pm

I would make dinosaur kale chips, all sorts of imaginatively flavored macaroons to share with my friends and coworkers, and maybe even some raw matzoh balls just in time for Passover! 🙂

  3. Lauren on April 7, 2011 at 9:25 pm

I would definitely make cheesy kale chips as I see them popping up everywhere on blogs and have yet to try them. I would also, make some homemade granola/protein bars for some delicious snacks!

  4. Kelly on April 7, 2011 at 9:25 pm

    KALE CHIPS! 🙂

  5. Tiffany on April 7, 2011 at 9:58 pm

Definitely kale chips! I’ve tried them in the oven and while it does work, I hear they are so amazing in the dehydrator!

  6. Melissa on April 7, 2011 at 10:11 pm

I would love to win! Already follow you on Open Sky too 🙂 The first thing I would make is some macaroons and then some raw stuffed mushrooms!!! Oooo I hope I win! Have been begging the hubby for one for almost a year now lol!

  7. Jessica on April 7, 2011 at 10:30 pm

KALE CHIPS, too. they are everywhere! and randomly my husband keeps asking me to incorporate kale into our dinners… I think he read it somewhere 🙂

roons would be a close second though…worst.sweettooth.ever.

  8. Becky on April 7, 2011 at 10:40 pm

Such a hard decision!! It would probably be kale chips first, followed very quickly by Roons!!

  9. Jana Flaxbeard on April 7, 2011 at 10:46 pm

I have never tasted a macaroon but just from the looks of them, I know I would love them. So I would definitely make macaroons first with a dehydrator!!!

  10. Erica H. on April 7, 2011 at 11:10 pm

Roons all the way! Then Kale. Wait, is that in the wrong order? Oh well 🙂

  16. Tammy on April 7, 2011 at 11:36 pm

    ROOOOONS!!

  17. Meaghen on April 8, 2011 at 1:00 am

Kale chips. Followed by vegetable wraps (you blend a whole bunch of veggies and just pour the liquid onto the dehydrator sheets). Flax spice crackers. ONION RINGS!!! (You use sprouted & dried buckwheat as the batter). Anything and EVERYTHING. It would be almost too good to be true.

  18. Coleen on April 8, 2011 at 1:33 am

Every time I see you use the dehydrator, you make me want one. I keep saying I am going to try kale chips one of these days. You can never have too many kitchen appliances, right?

  19. Tara on April 8, 2011 at 6:47 am

I want to try making raw bread. That would be so cool!

  20. Julie on April 8, 2011 at 7:33 am

My first recipe would have to be BBQ chicken jerky. They are so good.

  21. Sami on April 8, 2011 at 8:53 am

No. way. I read your posts every single day, but since I’m at work, I rarely get to comment. I just couldn’t help it in this instance, though…I have been wanting a dehydrator for TWO YEARS now. I just can’t seem to get myself to make the purchase. It has been on my Xmas/Birthday list for the past two years! haha.

I think due to the drool effect, I would be required to try making your roons first!<3 XO.

  22. Sami on April 8, 2011 at 8:53 am

    And PS-
I already get “deal” notifications in my inbox from your opensky shop!

  26. Trisha on April 8, 2011 at 12:16 pm

Goodness! I’ve wanted a dehydrator forever! I don’t even know where to start. Of course I’d make kale chips, since i LOVE them. Also my granola and granola bars that I devour. The possibilities are endless!

  27. Christine on April 8, 2011 at 12:45 pm

I would attempt dried fruit and veggies first.

  28. Molly on April 8, 2011 at 1:42 pm

If I won the dehydrator, I would make raw vegan tortillas and fill them up with sliced bananas, strawberries, and cacao nibs. All topped off with some maple syrup… Ahh please make my dream dessert come true!

  31. Theresa on April 8, 2011 at 3:03 pm

Kale Chips – luv them, but hate making them in the oven. I have wanted a dehydrator forever! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  32. Samantha Robertson on April 8, 2011 at 3:11 pm

For me, it’d be a tie between your macaroons, which I’ve wanted to make forever, and Averie’s raw peanut butter cookie dough balls.

  33. Alex on April 8, 2011 at 4:03 pm

All sorts of veggie and fruit chips

  34. Jen on April 8, 2011 at 4:50 pm

  42. Leea on April 8, 2011 at 10:41 pm

I would loveee to make the roons I’ve seen so consistantly in your blog post. I was always curious how it would taste like. I also would love to make kale chips (or other types of chips) and raw bread. I’m a raw food newbie so it would be awesome to be able to experiment with the dehydrator. =] Hope I win!

  43. Jules on April 9, 2011 at 12:17 am

I would love to make chips, bread, or anything i can put into the dehydrator!

  44. Sara on April 9, 2011 at 1:17 am

    dehydrate me!!!!!!

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2011 at 2:03 pm

i’m not sure how that would taste… haha

  45. kristin on April 9, 2011 at 3:08 am

i would dehydrate all the goodness i know how to help my little brother(32!)sustain his recovery from esophogeal cancer. i have a “green mix” that i dehydrate and make into a powder for traveling and I would send it to him so he could blend it in his smoothies… i have a dehydrator, but it’s not so fancy. it works fine, but if i had a fancy one, i could make my green mix for all those i love–greens for all my peeps!!
ps, my “green mix”= all your fave/what you have in the fridge greens. dehydrate fully and then make into powder(i use vitamix, but try blender??) then mix 1 tbs w/ one fruit and liquid of your choice–i’ve so far had a blender, but I bet if you mix a Tbs. w/ water and do a shooter, it’s more than nothing. I’m just remembering my time abroad and how difficult it is to be a vegetarian, and this is a good way to get your raw greens in (unless you have a kitchen to cook in, then the markets are amazing!!) have I blabbered enough?

  46. Lena on April 9, 2011 at 6:32 am

make kale chipss!! 🙂 this is awesome! i got a raw book the other day but a lot of it requires a dehydrator which i dont have. I usually just do the “leave the oven door ajar at the lowest setting” trick but i hate wasting so much energy!

  47. christie on April 9, 2011 at 9:46 am

I’d absolutely love to try kale chips!

  48. Melody on April 9, 2011 at 10:17 am

HI hi, entering to try to win! I would love to be able to make my own banana chips, granola, and treats for my fur-babies 🙂

  49. Jami on April 9, 2011 at 10:29 am

omg what wouldn’t I made first!!!! I think I would have to start with roons…looooove me some coconut macaroons!!! then the sky is the limit on what I would do 🙂 been staring at an excalibur on amazon for weeks so this would be FANTASTIC to win!!! fingers crossed 🙂

  50. Steph on April 9, 2011 at 10:46 am

I would love an Excalibur Dehydrator!! The first thing I would make would definitely be chocolate kale chips. I had them the other day from a local raw take out restaurant. They were sooo amazing and I haven’t stopped thinking about them since!! They were also $6.00 for a small amount, so it would be great to save money on delish raw treats! Can’t wait to check out your favs on Open Sky, Gina!
