Glourious Pizza

Hey guys! Happy humpday 😀 Hope your morning is treating ya well.

Last night’s gluten-free pizza was a success:

pizza

I topped the crust that I had made earlier in the day with organic marinara, goat cheddar, artichokes, portobella mushrooms, oregano, red chili flakes and fresh basil.

After I cut our slices (the entire pizza was 2.5 servings of dough, so I got a little less that half and the pilot had the rest), I topped the pilot’s pizza with organic roasted chicken.

pizza (2)

And mine with more red chili flakes.

pizaa

I will never go this long without pizza, ever again.

pizza (3)

We both had some salads with dressing- Goddess for me and “Manly Roman God” for the pilot 😉 Bahah

salad

Then we put Inglourious Basterds into the Blue-Ray. I wasn’t sure if I’d be a fan or not as I haven’t seen any Tarantino films (!) but I loved it. I thought it was definitely gory and disturbing at parts, but all in all, an interesting idea and very well done. I also love 1940s fashions, so that was fun too 🙂

This morning I met the girls at the gym for a weights sesh and munched a bowl of frozen organic berries that I had set to thaw in the fridge overnight.

fruit

Raspberries, blueberries and black cherries. Perfection.

We did a killer core workout and then I came back to the casa to make bfast.

raw oats

Raw Protein Chia Oats with:

-1/3 C oat groats, soaked overnight

-1 banana (1/2 processed with the oats in the food processor and 1/2 sliced on top)

-1/2 scoop Vanilla Sun Warrior

-fresh almond milk

-chia seeds

-mesquite and cinnamon

-blob of almond butter

-foodgasms

It doesn’t look that pretty, but it tasted pretty 🙂

I’m off to work on some guest posts for other websites then to a training appointment.

For some humpday fun, check out this cute video that a bloggy sent me- a male version of Viesa is in it!!!

The Shiba Inu is at 0:25, 0:36 and 0:47.

She could totally jump for treats like that 😀

vies

See ya this afternoon <3

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s tip: Have trouble getting in your 8 glasses of water?? Carry a bottle around with you ALL day (it’s hard to skimp when you don’t have an excuse!) and try flavoring it with cucumber slices, lemon juice or fresh berries.

Zumbies: I have to cancel Zumba again tonight 🙁 The ol’ knee feels much better after the half, but still isn’t 100% and I don’t think hopping and dancing around would make it feel any better. We’ll definitely have class next week with new dances! I’m sorry 🙁

I saw Inglorious Basterds at a Drive-In with the hubby and loved it! As a side non-health related question: How do you like having a blu-ray player? Is the difference really that noticeable from regular DVD? Rent some more Tarantino movies, they never disappoint!

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:04 am

i like having it for the extra stuff- like netflix, youtube, blockbuster and pandora are all on the blue ray, which is awesome. the picture quality is definitely noticeable, too

  3. Mara @ What's For Dinner? on March 10, 2010 at 10:05 am

I knew you’d love the fashions in that movie 🙂 Even at the goriest parts, I was fascinated by some of the clothes. I LOVED it!

Oh, and p.s. Adam liked the cauliflower “sushi” that I made last night… but he wanted a veggie corn dog instead 🙁

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:13 am

      yeah, you were totally right.
oh, adam. he’ll learn, haha 😀

    LOVELY looking pizza! SCRUM!

I never saw Inglorious Basterds, but wanted to! There were so many movies out around that time. The Mister and I will have the Netflix it, for sure!

  5. Karyn on March 10, 2010 at 10:05 am

that’s totally what i do with my water too! just having a splash of flavor makes drinking it so much easier

  6. nelly on March 10, 2010 at 10:07 am

my jackson does jump like that for treats…and he loves it (jumping that is and of course he loves the treats)…i actually throw his kibble around for him too…pretty much the only way he’ll eat…

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:14 am

which one, the shiva rea one or a different one??

      • Jen on March 10, 2010 at 10:22 am

The Shiva Rea one – that Fire segment is awesome! It was tough at first because I felt like I had to keep an eye on the TV but I think it’ll get better once I get used to the flow.

        • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:24 am

awesome! i loved the fire one too.. the lunar meditation was awesome the other night too- so calming

  11. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on March 10, 2010 at 10:15 am

Your pizza looks great! Makes me want pizza for breakfast right now!!

  12. Heather (Heather's Dish) on March 10, 2010 at 10:23 am

you know, i haven’t ever seen a tarantino movie until Inglourious Basterds…and I really liked it too! at first i was kinda shocked at the gore and stuff, but it was an interesting film to say the least 🙂

I would LOVE to have that pizza (except i haven’t gone long without it…just a couple days :))

  13. Mo@MommyRD on March 10, 2010 at 10:25 am

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:37 am

whole foods. no idea what the brand was (should have taken a pic!) but it was GOOD 🙂

      • M on March 10, 2010 at 11:10 am

Was just going to ask you the same question. If you get it again, please do share with us the brand. This girl needs pizza in her life again. (It’s been at least 5 years!!!) Xo

  15. LisaG on March 10, 2010 at 10:28 am

I didn’t see Inglorious Basterds. Don’t forget Robert Pattinson’s new movie “Remember Me” comes out friday. Will you still like him being less than a vampire?!

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:35 am

YES! i will always love him 🙂
and i can’t wait to see his new movie!

  16. Megan (from Happily Healthy) on March 10, 2010 at 10:30 am

Good morning! I just tried one of your infamous breakfast cookies and wow!! Sooo good! I used oats, protein powder, Kraft natural peanut butter, 1/2 mashed banana, sprinkled with cinnamon and honey. Delicious! I’m happy I found a way to eat oats in the morning. Im really not a fan of oatmeal but thought I should choke it down anyways but this is so great thank you!

PS- Love the salad dressing choices for you and pilot haha!!

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:36 am

yes! i’m so glad you liked it! i could eat one every day 🙂

I find carrying my massive water bottle everywhere helps me get my daily H2O in as well. That pizza looks amazing – especially the toppings, yum!

  19. Sara on March 10, 2010 at 10:34 am

That pizza indeed looks glorious and exactly how i like mine- piled with veggies and CHILLI FLAKES!
Yummmm…might have to have pizza for lunch today!

  20. Catherine on March 10, 2010 at 10:39 am

You might have answered this before, but for overnight oats do you actually cook them at all or just add water and let them soak up all the water + additions in the fridge overnight?

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 10:42 am

i just soak them in water and add all the other good stuff in the morning 🙂

  21. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on March 10, 2010 at 10:49 am

Holy yum. That pizza looks awesome. It’s not really practical right now (curse you winter!) but my favorite is watermelon in water. So subtle but awesome nonetheless.

  22. Paige (Running Around Normal) on March 10, 2010 at 11:00 am

That pizza just made me drool on my desk a little bit:) haha
We’ve been going back and forth on whether to pick up Inglorious Bastards or not. Maybe We’ll watch it this weekend!

  23. Jenn @ Livewellfit on March 10, 2010 at 11:02 am

I still need to watch that movie! 🙂

Pizza does look glorious! A number of my friends have celiac and we experiment all the time with gluten free products and such. It’s fabulous to see such a tremendous amount of options available.

I thought of you this morning as I tried a Shiva Rea yoga session on FitTv for the first time. Loved it. She’s going on my DVR for some variety!
P.S. I love that commercial — after enough times seeing it and pics of your Viesa, I’m pretty convinced one of my monsters is part Shiba Inu. So adorable :).

Do you remember the brand of GF pizza crust you used? I’m always looking for new GF alternatives! That pizza looks yum-O – especially with the artichokes (one of my favorite foods)!

  31. La on March 10, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Yeeaaahhh I definitely am bad at remembering to bring my water bottle with me! I fill it up and chill it and then always forget it on the counter. Bad! And mmmmm your pizza…love artichokes on pizza

  32. Raya on March 10, 2010 at 12:27 pm

Ooooh I have to try that crust. Any tips on making a pizza with lots of veggies that doesn’t come out soggy???

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 12:34 pm

bake the crust first, then add the veggies and just put in the oven to heat up the veg and cheese 🙂

  33. Kendel on March 10, 2010 at 12:30 pm

  34. Kilee on March 10, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Yum Yum Yum! Need to find a good gluten-free pizza mix. We actually have a pizza chain here in Portland that offers gluten-free crusts that you can buy for $3 and make pizzas with them. I would make them from scratch, but all the recipes I see are super gooey looking. Have a great day!!!

  35. Gina on March 10, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Great movie…I agree, the fashion was my fav part! I also think the acting was pretty fab! I really want to start making my own crusts and bread products. I signed up for an artisan breadbaking class next week and I’m super excited to learn! The class is taught by a well-known Seattle baker!

Nom, pizza! It’s one of the things I’ve missed most since going vegan. I’ve gotta get on finding a vegan recipe!

  41. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on March 10, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Seriously, one should never go too long w/o pizza! I go into withdrawals after a week or two. 🙂 Glad you liked the Basterds! I did too, and I’m not even much of a Tarantino fan. I thought it was a totally cool movie. Christoph Waltz (sp?) gave me chills. 🙂

  42. Ellen on March 10, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Wow that pizza looks so good AND healthy! And I’m very impressed with how healthy the pilot eats…I wish my bf was the same. I suppose he might be if I cooked more!

    Hi Gina,
Love your blog. Do you find just fruit to be enough fuel for early morning gym visits? I usually have to have something more carb-y, like a Clif bar!

    • Fitnessista on March 10, 2010 at 3:42 pm

yeah, because i want my carbs and protein afterwards! i don’t do any cardio in the morning, just weights, so a little carbs to get me going (like fruit) is perfect

  49. Ashley (whole-ier) on March 10, 2010 at 4:08 pm

Love the dog video. My Bunkie can catch like a champ as well.

My BF has been begging me to watch Inglorious Bastards, I love Tarantino’s movies but this one I wasn’t so sure about… hmmm…
