Not Your Standard Egg Hunt
Hi friends 🙂 How has your day been?
While many of you were hunting for Easter eggs, I was participating in a more non-traditional Easter activity:
Curling a mannequin named Didi’s hair 😉
The Easter bunny brought me a new styling wand. It’s the new kind I’ve been lusting over- the barrel rotates so you don’t have to twist the whole thing. Curling my hair usually gives me wicked hand cramps, since my hair is super thick, and I was blown away by how easy it was to use.
My mom has a few mannequin heads –she’s a stylist, not a weirdo haha- and brought out our model, Didi
and gave me a tutorial on how to use it.
Once I’ve practiced on myself a few times, I’ll totally make a video. We curled the entire mannequin’s hair in about 15 minutes.. and then she was sassy and ready for a night out 😉
This morning was a little more on the traditional side-
we enjoyed a beautiful brunch al fresco at my nana’s house 😀
She always makes an incredible spread, and while I love all of her cooking so much, her breakfast is my favorite 🙂
Egg casserole with green chilies and salsa, ham, sausage, apple puff pancakes with fresh whipped cream and maple syrup
Potatoes, biscuits, ham quiche
Fresh fruit and gooey homemade sticky buns:
and the best part: the dessert table.
Coconut cake, rocky road brownies, cranberry cheesecake, cherry chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, and peach cobbler with fresh whipped cream.
I die.
Plate #1:
(x2)
I wait for her egg casserole all year. It will blow your mind.
Dessert:
Brosef:
It was great to catch up with the fam, feast on delicious food, and snuggle with my baby cousin and the puppies that were there. Everyone on my dad’s side of the family has a white dog! Usually I bring Bella, but today she hung out my my madre’s house.
Sammie, my nana’s Westie:
After brunch with Dad’s side of the fam, we came over to the madre’s, played with new styling wand and went to visit our great grandmother. Now we’re ready to eat again and are figuring out dinner plans 🙂
It was a lovely Easter, but the one thing that would have made it better would be if that one guy was here with me 😉
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day and I’ll see ya in the morning!
xoxo
Gina
Oh my gosh, I LOVE Sammie! What an awesome Westie! My mom has wanted a westie for years. I’m intrigued by the curling iron. I don’t need to curl my hair – mine is curly whether I like it or not! – but I still like gadgets.
I can’t wait to see da hairrr!
Happy Easter, Gina! I have a similar hair tool called the InStyler. I LOVE it!!!
Also, I love your cardigan! It is so cute! Do you mind sharing where you purchased it? 🙂
Great present from the Easter Bunny! I love that you clarify that your mom is not a weirdo but a stylist lol.
Love your new curling iron.. and I LOVE Sammie!!! I grew up with a westie… his name was Max 🙂
Happy Easter Gina! Sounds like an awesome family day. It’s so great having ‘most’ of your family all in one town/state. We had brunch with my inlaws and then an egg hunt at the park, followed by some baseball practice! Fun times
We did the sunrise service @ 7:00. Waffle house omelet Spanish style w/ picante & Tabasco. Easter baskets (never too old)! I love Nana’s house & her cooking !
sounds like a great day to me!!!
miss you friend and hope you had a happy easter <3
Love her house!
i do too!! my dad designed and built it, and she decorated so beautifully
OH!! I have a rotating styling iron and I lovers it!! <3 It makes my hair so shiny. 🙂
Sammie is such a cutie and she knows how to accesorize. I’m loving the heart ID tag and pink bow. 😉
she’s a trendy little thing
“Coconut cake, rocky road brownies, cranberry cheesecake, cherry chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, and peach cobbler with fresh whipped cream.”—
WOW!!!!!
The egg casserole too…glad you got your feast on after waiting all year for it!
The curling iron…I have friends who’ve told me about that. Can’t wait to see more or a video of it in action. Glad it was so easy for you. And I take it no issues curling your own hair even after your keratin treatment. I have a brazilian blowout so never even attempt to curl my hair but good to know you can go curly, if desired.
Happy Easter!
haha when I first seen the head, I was like oh my gosh!
Love your hair, it is gorgeous!
thank you!
??????? ???????!
Looks like you had a wonderful time with the family. All that food looks amazing.
i have the same curling iron and can’t for the life of me figure out how to use it properly!
hopefully my video will help! my mom taught me some awesome tricks
oh fun family time and “curling” time. haha. SOme day, you gotta share the egg casserole recipe. If nana will let ya!
Happy Easter!
i’ll have to beg her for it next time!! she said she’d make it again when tom is home, since he missed out 🙂
i was a bit concerned when i first saw the head, won’t lie! hhaha happy easter

You look beautiful in the picture with Bella – the last one! Happy Easter… can’t wait to hear more about this styling tool!

Your family always has the BEST food at gatherings. Adopt me?

Happy Easter! Looks like you had a great day, and it looks like it was a gorgeous day out!!
I’m so excited to see your hair video once you’re all practiced up! I’m always up for new styling tips. 🙂
Happy Easter to you and your fam…looks like a nice day!
I love Sammie! I grew up having a Westie, and she recently died at 17 years old. My parents just got a new Westie puppy. They are very sweet dogs. Happy Easter! 🙂
Haha, when I first saw the mannequin head I was like–what in the world is in this post??? Looking forward to the video on that new curling iron! I also have super thick hair that takes forever to curl.
what a cool idea I cant wait to see you hair!
you are so so pretty.
do you have a recipe for a quinoa tortilla? i think u made one before. a healthy and simple (very simple ) one…and can it be made from quinoa flakes?
here ya go!
http://fitnessista.com/2011/02/quinoa-pita-tortilla/
i used quinoa flour for this one, but it might work with quinoa flakes
Happy Easter Gina!
That food looks so good. I can’t wait to see your hair. My hair refuses to curl and curling irons are just a pain for me to use.
Awesome breakfast spread 🙂 Looks like a great day!
Aside from the fact that AZ is absolutely beautiful (as evidenced in the photo of your nana’s backyard) and the fact that the dry climate is great for the HairStylez, I can see why you were so eager to move back to Tucson. It’s so awesome that you are surrounded by so much loving family. I know you said your friends were great, but it’s never the same as being surrounded by those you love most. It’s obvious by that beaming glow you have had on your face ever since you moved back home that it’s where you belong. OH and that brunch looks amazing – your nana could put professional caterers to shame!
she and my aunt used to own a catering business back in the day- they’re like martha stewarts 🙂
you’re totally right.. i couldn’t be more happy to be home again. thank you <3
xoxo
oh what a great day of family, fun and food. It must be so nice to be back near all of your family!
The food your grandma makes looks amazing mmm mmm 🙂 Happy Easter!
it’s amazing to be home again 🙂
What’s the pink top you are wearing? It looks awesome! Where did you get it from?
thanks! it’s a cardigan from new york and company. i don’t ever go in there, but went to get a gift for my mom, and LOVED their sweaters
she literally cooked all that food herself? that must have taken like a week.
Yup- she used to own a catering business, so it probably didn’t take her nearly as long as it would have taken for me to do that!
seriously!? you have a caterer and a hair dresser in your family!? and you’re fitnessista! what a great array of tallents
Sammie is the cutest! What a face! And wow, what an incredible brunch your grandma prepared! You are so lucky, there is nothing like granny food, is there? Especially that dessert plate, I think I’d need at least 3 or 4 of everything just to tide me over. Delicious!
Wow – the photo of the breakfast spread really made my mouth water – i wish the UK would catch on to having amazing breakfasts like that – yummy!
Isn’t it amazing that you can live for years without someone, and are “fine”, and then after you have them in your life, even the greatest of days are missing something when he’s not there. My fiance is away, and all day yesterday there was just something off 🙁 It’s a bittersweet feeling. How lucky to have someone that makes missing them so hard!
what a beautiful house your nana has! looks like you all had a wonderful – and delicious! – time. too fun that you rec’d an easter present – we still did easter bunny hunts until just a couple years ago! 🙂
i hope NEXT easter you and the pilot will be together!
I love that you clarified that your mother was a stylist, not a weirdo. haha… It’s the little things that make my morning 🙂 Looks like a perfect little Easter!
ah so I just want to sit down with your family; how fun
I would love a video post on the new styling wand. I have super thick hair too, so I’m always looking out for ways to make styling it a less cumbersome. 🙂 Love your Nana’s house! Wow, it’s gorgeous!!!
I have to say, I am loving your bangs! I wish I could pull them off :)Sammie is a cutie!
You made Didi look gawwwwgeous! Very cool present, and I can’t wait to see the video! It looks like you had a lovely Easter, Gina!
Your nana’s house and backyard is gorgeous!
The brunch spread looks amazing. Glad you had such a great day with family! 🙂
Can I move in with your Nana? That house looks fab!
I just bought one of these curling irons and am waiting for it to arrive! Can’t wait. A video would be awesome!!
Okay so funny- I have that pink sweater and that blue dress! I got both on sale 🙂 Great minds think alike!
Looks yummy – oh so yummy!
Let me get that hot chef’s number! OWWW!
hahah i was about to say that he has a wonderful girlfriend and then i saw who it was 😉
xoxo
Ok, so the pictures of the house with the pool…I DIE.
Seriously, if you could see what our weather has been for the past few days, and will continue to be for the next few days, you would understand why!
So the glorious picture is enough to make me buy a ticket to your family’s casa. Don’t be surprised if I show up on your doorstep…jus’ sayin’.
come on over! i’d love to see you 🙂
