Peet Zuh

Hi guys! HAPPY FRIDAY!!! <3 Hope you have something fun going on this weekend 🙂

Last night after work and bootcamp, things got a little messy around here.

It was pizza night!

Peet zuhhhhhhhhh

I LIVE for pizza 😀

We used this mix for the dough, which I bought a while ago and forgot about.

mix

I’m not gluten-free but tend to eat a lot of gluten-free stuff because it’s *usually* healthy and I like to test different things for future gluten-free personal chef clients.

Dough diggity:

dough

(Random trivia: my brother, who is a chef, is also a pizza ninja. He used to work at a gourmet pizza place in Tucson, Magpie’s, and I’d often go harass him for whole wheat veggie pizza after dance class)

While the pizzas were pre-baking, we got out all of our toppings.

toppings

Sauce, queso, plump and juicy kalamata olives, organic pepperoni and ham for the Pilot, mushrooms, tomatoes and a green bell pepper

I covered my pizza with nooch and red chili flakes, and it was pretty much amazingfacerockinggloriousfantastic.

LOVED the crust- dense and chewy.

Even in all of its glory, this pizza wasn’t quite as good as the deep dish I had in Chicago…

Guess I’ll have to go back? 😉

This morning, I’m off to teach bootcamp and then TurboFire it up, then running errands before heading back to work.

I’m out like sauerkraut <3

That pizza only looks SLIGHTLY amazing 😉 And “out like sauerkraut”?! Girl, you’re talking a true Polock here. I mayyyy need to borrow that saying. With your permission only of course !

    Have a fabulous weekend!

permission totally granted 🙂 LOVE sauerkraut!

  2. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on August 20, 2010 at 8:15 am

Do you just sprinkle the nooch on top of the pizza and that’s it? It takes “cheesy” just like that? I bought some finally but I’m nervous to try! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 20, 2010 at 8:23 am

      yup!
you’ll love it- nooch is awesome on pizza, salads toast and eggs 🙂

  3. jenna on August 20, 2010 at 8:20 am

did you like that crust? I’ve seen it numerous times and always think about getting it but never do. I’m a crust girl!

    • Fitnessista on August 20, 2010 at 8:22 am

i loved it! i really like chewy crust and it was super chewy. we used flax eggs instead of regular eggs and it worked beautifully

  10. Jessica @ How Sweet on August 20, 2010 at 9:00 am

I’ve never put nutritional yeast on my pizza but that sounds soo good. Especially since I am obsessed with it.

  11. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on August 20, 2010 at 9:01 am

I think your pizzas look so much better than the deep dish (but I’m not a fan of deep dish). I’ll have to try that crust mix. Pizza is my favorite, too.

  12. Karyn on August 20, 2010 at 9:12 am

great quote and AMAZING looking pizza. i think i’d like pizza more if i learned how to make it properly hah 🙂

  13. Tina on August 20, 2010 at 9:17 am

Looks good! I love pizza with more sauce and piled with veggie toppings. A little cheese is good but I can’t stand too much.

  14. Holly @ couchpotatoathlete on August 20, 2010 at 9:20 am

I just recently tried that Bob’s GF pizza crust, and I loved it too! It was so chewy and dense and the edges got nice and crispy.

I tried your circuit/bootcamp from yesterday and I loved it! Thanks!

    YUUM!

  16. Lana Wilson on August 20, 2010 at 9:36 am

That pizza looks delicious!! My room mate always makes pizza’s (they look more like the pilots though) and I’m always nervous to make them for some reason. I think the crust scares me, lol….But now i’m totally inspired!

    BTW, love the quote!

  17. Jessica@tastyandtrim on August 20, 2010 at 9:38 am

That quote is so true. I think that sometimes people try too hard to find happiness through an idea of what they think will make them happy when the things that do are right under their noses, like spending time with loved ones. That pizza looks fab by the way!

  18. Jessie (Bites and Pieces) on August 20, 2010 at 9:40 am

Yum, that pizza looks awesome! I always put nooch on my pizza, it really takes it to another level. I have never tried gluten-free crust, but after seeing this I really want to. 🙂

  19. Rachael @ Mrs-Adventure on August 20, 2010 at 9:41 am

Dang now I have the urge to make pizza!

  21. Laury @ thefitnessdish on August 20, 2010 at 10:05 am

Michael and I have pizza night, we do multi-grain dough…it’s his FAV niht! He loads up on sauce and mozz and basil…mine, spinach, saute onions and goats cheese and coats mozz…AMAZING! We use a pizza stone, it makes SUCH a difference, I love it crispy and thin!!!

    • Fitnessista on August 20, 2010 at 10:15 am

the pizza stone changed my life 🙂

  22. Lauren W. on August 20, 2010 at 10:09 am

    Great quote Gina!

  23. meg on August 20, 2010 at 10:33 am

mmm that pizza looks fantastic! I have some of that mix, buried in my cabinet as well-Friday seems like a perfect excuse to break it out, no?

  24. Angela on August 20, 2010 at 10:50 am

Wow that crust looks good. I like my breads dense and chewy so its right up my alley. I also tried nooch for the first time and its great stuff. I have no dinner plans tonight and now you have me wanting pizza. Might have to give this one a go.

  25. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on August 20, 2010 at 10:52 am

Yum! I love homemade pizza (especially whole wheat).

  28. RhodeyGirl on August 20, 2010 at 11:31 am

We had pizza a couple of nights ago too, since PB was being such a good husband. His good streak continues as HE IS MAKING ME DINNER TONIGHT WOOHOO.

Anyway, you KNOW I am super superstitious. I also believe that the future can be told to you through dreams, and people who have passed away can visit through that same channel, since our minds and our hearts are so open while we sleep.

    Emailing you a crazy story.

  29. Katie @ Healthy Heddleston on August 20, 2010 at 11:44 am

This is my favorite gluten free pizza crust!!

  30. Kristina @ spabettie on August 20, 2010 at 11:49 am

I love Bob’s Red Mill… they are the gluten free MASTAH 🙂

I have had a pizza craving lately – I want to make one with kalamatas… I cannot believe it’s been in my head for over a month and I have not made it… kalamatas are the best.

  31. brittany on August 20, 2010 at 12:20 pm

yay i’m so excited for the Reader’s Request post today!! I’ve been meaning to send you an email about if for awhile!
i’m also so excited for your upcoming move to Orlando! I go to school in Tallahassee now but my family is in Orlando so i go back a lot and hopefully I’ll get to take one of your zumba classes!! 😀

  32. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on August 20, 2010 at 12:22 pm

I haven’t had the best outcomes with Bob’s Red Mill cakes (it tasted like dirt!) but maybe the pixxa is better?

  33. Leah @ Why Deprive? on August 20, 2010 at 12:29 pm

I’ve been debating whether or not to have pizza for dinner tonight. I think you just solved that dilemma! 🙂

I’ve seen that crust before, Im glad to know its good, I’ll have to pick some up.

  34. Paige (Running Around Normal) on August 20, 2010 at 12:44 pm

That dough mix looks SO good – it even *looks* chewy, haha. Deep dish is the way to go. I didn’t get a chance to have it last weekend, but we’ll be up again, and now…all the sudden…I have a craving 😉

  35. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on August 20, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Ooh! I love CHEWY crust, so I may have to try that mix! Bob’s Red Mill usually rocks. 😉

Too bad it’s still breakfast time for me… I want Peet Zuh!!

  36. LisaG on August 20, 2010 at 1:47 pm

Pizza looks superb! Is that mix as good as the Namaste Pizza crust we used?

  37. Alex on August 20, 2010 at 1:49 pm

This looks delicious! I’ve recently turned vegan and your blog has become my go to! 🙂

  38. Kate @ Ordinary Girl, Extraordinary Journey on August 20, 2010 at 1:57 pm

Yum! I love veggie pizza too! I usually make mine with whole wheat english muffins but they never hold enough toppings! I will have to try this crust mix!

  39. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on August 20, 2010 at 2:01 pm

“LOVED the crust- dense and chewy.”—thank you for the review! I have never made GF pizza crust with Bob’s. It’s been not kidding like 10 years since I have eaten pizza. Now with Daiya cheeze on the market and Bob’s GF crust, I need to get busy and change that up pronto!

To your last post, I am not superstitious but I am psychic. I know that sounds really out there, but I am. My grandmother was very much that way, and so am I, and the older I get, the more in tune I get with that type of energy and vibes and sometimes I freak myself out. I dont even want to type it b/c it sounds crazy but yeah, I am 🙂

    TGIF baby!!!

    🙂

  40. Sana on August 20, 2010 at 2:03 pm

I actually only eat homemade pizza- just because I don’t have to soak up all the grease, where does that even come from?!?!!?

  41. Kimberly on August 20, 2010 at 2:15 pm

OMG those pizzas look scrumptious! I will have to try that crust soon! A few weeks ago I made a GF pizza with Chebe’ brand and I L-O-V-E-D it. The crust was thin, yet dense and it was of the garlic butter type – NOM! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 20, 2010 at 2:37 pm

i love chebe! it’s great stuff

  42. Wendy @ Seriously Sassy on August 20, 2010 at 2:36 pm

  44. Elli @ 16 and Losing It on August 20, 2010 at 2:43 pm

That is some pizza! I’ve heard on nooch but I’ve never tried it. I think I need to though. Love the idea to put it on pizza instead of cheese!

Would love to see pics of you from HLS in your rent the runway dress! Just curious as to which one you wore.

  46. Lauren on August 20, 2010 at 3:22 pm

Yummy looking pizza! I tend to go for GF ‘za crusts, when available, just because I really like the taste of the alternative flours. Looks like this mix was a good one.
