POMritas

Hiiiii 🙂 Happy almost-Friday! (Just wrote “almond Friday” haha)  😀 It’s almost the weekend!!!

How was your Cinco de Drinko Mayo??

I celebrated by teaching classes and then ended it with this….

rita

A Pomegranate margarita 🙂

And THIS

salmon

Yes, we went to Longhorn on Cinco de Mayo. *Hides face in shame*

We REALLY wanted Mexican food, but Valdosta has about three Mexican restaurants and all three were madhouses last night, so Longhorn it was. I got the usual salmon with double veggies and a plain baked sweet potato.

sweet potato

+ one thousand pieces of wheaty bread. I was starvin’!

Dinner was pretty face-rocking, and as always, I love chilling with the girls.

Holler to Maya from American Gourmande who made a lovely Indian Food Wednesday / Cinco de Mayo hybrid:

_DSC1819

She made INDIAN NACHOS with curry spiced lentils, red pepper, carrots, and okra adorning cinnamon flavored tortilla chips with coconut butter drizzles, Greek yogurt, and mango ginger chutney

FOODGASM 😀

This morning, I awoke to a breakfast beauty

bfast cookie

A Fitnessista bfast cookie with:

-1/3 C oats

-2 T of Jarrow brown rice protein

-almond milk

-1/2 bananner

-1 T mesquite

-cinnamon and vanilla

-1 T almond butter

Ahhhhhmazing 🙂

Well I’m off to walk the puppers, interview a new instructor for the base gym, CLEAN and make some delicious food, because

THE PILOT IS COMING HOME TONIGHT!

I didn’t write about it on the blog for safety purposes, but remember when I went to visit the pilot in Vegas? Well he’s been there for 5 weeks!! AHHHHHHH. Not gonna lie, this TDY was no picnic. Whatever, though.. I get to see my pilot love tonight and I CAN’T WAIT 😀

See ya this afternoon with a reader’s request post (not sure what yet! Send any ideas my way at fitnessista at gmail dot com or tweet it up!)

xoxo

I had Burritos… TWICE! One for lunch and one for supper. I threw in some kettlebells and some “ariba” shouts and that was how I celebrated my Cinco de Mayo.

I can’t imagine what it must be like to have the pilot go away for weeks or months at a time. You are such a strong woman!

Hubby and I went to a steak house (to avoid crowds) too!! And then I got the fish of the day ;D Was my first time trying Ono (I think that’s what she said it was)… not gonna lie though, I did eat a bite or two of hubby’s yummy coleslaw. I think it was the best I’ve ever tasted.

I did make a 5/5ish meal, but posted it today… the marinade is SO GOOD! Not to toot my own horn 😉 http://whatscookinwithmary.blogspot.com/2010/05/cilantro-lime-shrimp.html

YAY for your pilot coming home !!! *high five*

I have a traveling hubby too… he doesn’t leave for more than a week at a time, but everytime I go get him from the airport on the return I always get so excited… it’s like Christmas 😀 What can I say, I love him.

Have you already done a reader’s request post about Zumba? I want to take a class at my local gym, but I’m nervous! I feel like I will have no clue what I’m doing and everyone else will. Help!

And so happy the hubby is coming home!!

  37. Romy on May 6, 2010 at 12:37 pm

Hey 🙂 I’m so happy for you that your pilot is back again!!!! Enjoy your evening!!!!
How do you cope with him being away for so long? I know you once wrote about your time with the other wives, but it must be hard 🙁 My love is away now and then for about 1 week, but that’s it! I know I’m happy when he’s back only after one week!! I miss him so much, but after 5 weeks??? *eek* I don’t know what I’d do 🙁

So, I wish you an amazing evening and weekend 😀

  38. Kat on May 6, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Yay!! So happy you get to be reunited with your pilot. I am making my first batch of macaroons this weekend for a party on Sunday. I’m getting the recipe from Sarma’s Raw Food Real World. Excited!!!! Hope they look as good as yours!

Um, I had Applebee’s on Cinco de Mayo. Right. No shame, girl. 🙂 Mexican on a random night will be more *special*.

  44. Liz on May 6, 2010 at 2:16 pm

Hi! I just stumbled across your blog and have really enjoyed the workouts that you’ve posted, especially the HTP weight routines. Here’s a question for you: If I can only get to the gym 3-4 days during the week for 45 mins each, what should I be doing while I’m there? I have a pretty good base level of fitness, eat very healthy during the week and splurge a little on the weekends [just as an aside– I do get to walk to work, which is 20 mins each way- yay!]

    • Fitnessista on May 6, 2010 at 2:25 pm

      hey liz!
thanks so much for reading my little blog!
i’d do 3 days of weights (30 minutes) with 15 min cardio
and 1 day of pure cardio
      🙂

  45. Nicole on May 6, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Same thing happened to me and hubby- we went to on the border (it was so entirely packed and they even had swarms of police just hanging out there to make sure nothing freak happened)hoping for some mexican food but ended up at Carrabbas eating italian haha. It was good but I wanted something less ritzy and more spicy.

  46. Jessica on May 6, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I really like the idea of Indian Nachos. The wheels are turning now- what other version would be good? Greek perhaps? Margaritas look great too! Looks like a day full of healthful, yummy eats!

  47. highonhealthy on May 6, 2010 at 2:51 pm

That margarita looks divine and I didn’t celebrate with Mexican food either. So it’s all good!

I like the looks of that b-fast cookie and I may be making it for breakfast tomorrow. 🙂

  48. Dee on May 6, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Congrats on your pilot coming home, I had wondered (before the Vegas trip) why you weren’t showing us pics of what he was eating.

BTW, I’m learning alot from how you handle the different meals thing, because my BF is not at all interested in trying many of my healthy staples, but since I cook I still want him to eat the best he can. You do a great job of showing how to create more-healthy versions of meat-floury-cheesey food, as well as how to introduce healthier items in an appetizing way. Cuz I can just munch on raw broccoli and garbanzos if need be, but for him it’s a tough sell!

  49. Kathryn on May 6, 2010 at 4:40 pm

Ooh! I’ve never had a pomegranate margarita! I made mango margaritas this year. They were delish!

  50. Elise on May 6, 2010 at 4:43 pm

What?! No goat cheese in a baggie from the bottom of your purse for that sweet potato ;-D
