Shaking Along

Heyyyyyy Open-mouthed smile How ya doin?

Thank you so much for your peanut flour tips!

Per your suggestions, for a post-workout snack, I mixed some with water, Stevia and sea salt.

peanut flour (2)

SO much better! I liked it so much, I had it again for an afternoon snack Open-mouthed smile

For the record though, almonds > peanuts. Foreverrrrrrr.

Lunch was a beast of all beasts.

beast

A giant salad with spinach, arugula, 1/2 can of cooked chickpeas, 1 can of toonie (aka tuna), balsamic, hummus, tomatoes and mushrooms with a slice of brown rice bread.

This baby had some HEIGHT too Open-mouthed smile

salad

It was everything I could wish for. Back in college, I ate a can of tuna everyday (hello, mercury), and scarred myself from eating it the past 3 years. After having little bits over the past month or so, it’s officially back.

This afternoon, I got quite a few errands ninja-kicked out of the way:

-car wash (got the bugs off!)

-foot doctor – my broken toe is healing perfectly, even though it still looks like a hot mess

-call with Dance Trance corporate

-found a Dance Trance studio (is this all really happening?)

-made some vegan chocolate chip cookies to send to my Orlando lulu friends and for the fam

cookies

and just put these raw cashews to soak for that recipe I was telling ya about.

cashews

It’s the creamy base for a favorite holiday treat. Any ideas?

Use your NOGgin Winking smile

Going to walk these puppers and then visit my daddoo.

See ya in the morning!

xoxo,

Gina

    Hmmmm. Egg nog? 🙂

I don’t get sick of foods too easily — unless I am literally eating the same meals every.single.day.

  2. Kristina @ spabettie on December 13, 2010 at 7:19 pm

    ooh, cashew nog <3

I did the same thing in college with sardines. I LOVE them again though. 😀

  3. Ilana on December 13, 2010 at 7:20 pm

I’ve never had egg nog! I can’t wait to see your recipe!
I used to loooove tuna from a can in high school- dry, no mayo.
After 7 weeks in Thailand a few years back, by the end I thought that if I saw another dish of pad thai I’d die. I’m craving it like nobody’s biz at this very moment, though.

  4. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on December 13, 2010 at 7:21 pm

Eggnog without the egg part?! Sounds tasty. 🙂

  5. BIOCHEMISTA on December 13, 2010 at 7:22 pm

I love Peanut Flour. I know you don’t do cow dairy so perhaps you could use goat, but I really like Greek yogurt, stevia, PB flour, sea salt and a teeeny drizzle of maple syrup. So so good 🙂 I also throw it into to chocolate smoothies (tastes like a peanut butter cup), or use it in chocolate protein pancakes. 🙂

    • BIOCHEMISTA on December 13, 2010 at 7:23 pm

I’m gonna guess you’re makin’ some vegan eggnog 😉

  6. Mansee on December 13, 2010 at 7:23 pm

The whole dance trance thing is so exciting! I’m assuming it will be the first one in AZ? If so, that’s even more awesome!

    • Fitnessista on December 13, 2010 at 7:28 pm

      yup!

  7. Amber on December 13, 2010 at 7:24 pm

    • Amber on December 13, 2010 at 7:37 pm

ooops, HAD some … I did not “got”, anything. I am clearly still to excited and I forgot how to speak correctly. 😉

I am burnt out on bars! Hard to believe – I used to eat Clifs and Lunas every. single. day!

    • Fitnessista on December 13, 2010 at 7:28 pm

i used to, too!! got SO sick of them

  9. Mary (A Merry Life) on December 13, 2010 at 7:25 pm

I get burnt out on foods all the time because I’ll eat something I like over and over again until I’m tired of it.

  10. Jaclyn on December 13, 2010 at 7:30 pm

I am so proud of you for the whole Dance Trance thing – talk about fast!!!!! Anndddd I wanna try it! LOoks like SO much fun!!

  11. grocery goddess jen on December 13, 2010 at 7:31 pm

OMG, egg nog with without the egg and with the cashews?? That sounds amazing.

  12. Sarra on December 13, 2010 at 7:37 pm

your tuna looks so good and chunky, what brand is that?

  13. Amber B on December 13, 2010 at 7:41 pm

I lived on tuna and baby carrots for about a year in college too! Sometimes when I look at them I get naseous (sp?)…. And sometimes I crave them!! haha

  14. Allison @ Food For Healing on December 13, 2010 at 8:01 pm

so happy things are going great for it, its meant to be!

i’m excited to see your creation with the cashews!!

  15. Madeleine @ Stepping to the Bright Side on December 13, 2010 at 8:02 pm

Oooooh! Congrats on the Dance Trance thang- that’s so exciting 🙂 Can’t wait to hear how the egg nog turns out!

  16. Courtney @greeneyedrunner on December 13, 2010 at 8:09 pm

EGGNOG 🙂 I’m so excited, even if it’s not exactly that your recipes are so bomb!

…I’ve definitely gotten sick of bananas unless they’re frozen and put into smoothies (I get such random aversions at such random times, at one point I could ONLY eat bananas &pb/ab. Then no eggs, and now I think no frozen mango, which I also adore. I’m such a weirdo!)

  17. Jordana on December 13, 2010 at 8:09 pm

Right now I am burnt out on salads. Ughh the thought makes me gag.

  18. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) on December 13, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Raw noggin’. Loving the idea. Cashews in anything is awesome. That’s how I made cheezecake but yeah, nog would be even better. Alcohol involved probably? Oh, yes, I am sure and can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Glad you liked the peanut flour better in the p.m.

The vegan chocolate chip cookies..omg I remember that post, when your aunt told you just to use the recipe on the back of the Tollhouse bag and you veganized it. I want to make that recipe. Thx for the reminder!

I used to eat a Luna Bar every afternoon for a snack. That was years ago but even now I only have one if it is an absolute emergency (plane delayed for hours etc).

  20. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on December 13, 2010 at 8:36 pm

    EGG NOG = heaven. 🙂

  21. Dee on December 13, 2010 at 8:38 pm

  22. Cyndie on December 13, 2010 at 8:43 pm

umm I burn out on food all the time…I recently killed Subway, peanut butter, bananas…Just thinking about it kind of grosses me out.

  23. Sana on December 13, 2010 at 8:46 pm

I hate tuna for lunch EVERY day in middle and highschool. Now I can’t stand the smell!

  24. Melissa @ Running with Needles on December 13, 2010 at 8:51 pm

I go through phases with foods. This summer I was obsessed with green smoothies – I think I ate one almost every day. Right now I’m on a refried bean kick. Weird, but they’re so good!

  25. Erin Foster Yoga on December 13, 2010 at 8:58 pm

Alright, friend…who’s going to be in possession of these cookies? I need names! 😉

  26. Rachel on December 13, 2010 at 8:59 pm

Gina you are just too cute for words! I am ALWAYS getting burned out on foods. I’m constantly having to think up new snacks and breakfasts. Those seem the hardest for me to keep fresh. One can only eat so many cheese sticks and yogurts. Salads too…I”m on a tight budget to yummy cheeses and other salad fixins.

  27. Karyn on December 13, 2010 at 9:05 pm

cooooooooooooookie dough. yum 🙂 i’m starting to get burnt out on bars. i eat them because they’re so convenient for working but ugh…it’s getting old!

  28. Sara (Running with Teaspoons) on December 13, 2010 at 9:10 pm

I burn out on food all the time! I get fixated on something – in the spring it was lamb gyros with a side of hummus and pita from a restaurant near my office. I would have it, no joke, twice a week. Now whenever I want to order out for lunch, it sounds… lackluster. I’m sure it’ll come back around though – it’s so delicious!

I’ve done good at not ‘burning out’ lately since as a part of my blog I’m trying to cook 300 new recipes in a year. Hard to get sick of something if you don’t have it more than once! Although I still go through ingredient overload – I had too many pork dishes in a week and wanted nothing to do with pork for weeks 🙂

  29. Clare @ Fitting It All In on December 13, 2010 at 9:22 pm

I’ve been burned out on things for a few weeks or months – like apples after eating one every day. And I can’t eat lots of the things I ate during childhood like american cheese, balogna, and apple juice. But that’s probably more of a gross reason rather than a burnout…

  30. Abby on December 13, 2010 at 9:25 pm

OATMEAL! seriously. cannot even think about it anymore without getting nauseous after eating it almost every day for 2 years. talk about creating a breakfast dilemma though! haha

  31. Krystina (Basil & Wine) on December 13, 2010 at 9:41 pm

I love your salad beast! I had one today and it was magical.

  32. Kiran on December 13, 2010 at 9:46 pm

So happy you are finally settling into your normal routine. Miss you and sending some healing toe vibes your way 🙂

  33. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on December 13, 2010 at 9:48 pm

I usually get stuck on a food until I can’t even look at it. That’s how I felt about oatmeal a few weeks ago.

  34. Stefanie on December 13, 2010 at 9:49 pm

Cashew nog!? I don’t get sick of foods too easily! I’m a total creature of habit when it comes to food, so my favorites tend to stick around for a while. 🙂

  35. Paige @Running Around Normal on December 13, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Gosh that’s so awesome you’re going to open up a studio!!
    Vegan cashew eggnog?! I’m intrigued.

  36. Namaste Gurl on December 13, 2010 at 10:40 pm

Haha, looks quite similar to my salads– mondo and covered with lots of yummy stuff. My favorite salad dressing is definitely a big, generous dollop of hummus 🙂

    Have a good evening!

  37. Becky on December 13, 2010 at 10:44 pm

If you are still skittish about eating tuna, try canned alaska salmon! Sooo good with a bit of hummus mixed in over a bed of greens. I sub it in for any tuna recipe!

  38. nicole on December 13, 2010 at 11:01 pm

Vegan egg nog? That should be interesting!
I burn out on foods all of the time. I used to only eat salad and yogurt with cottage cheese in college. I’ve eased back into salads but yogurt still doesn’t have much appeal. These days I tire myself of eggs but I’m always back in a week or two.

  39. Jess @ glutenfreesta.com on December 13, 2010 at 11:31 pm

    Gina,

Did you know you can still have millet bread?! It’s gf and I know you used to love it. Also, udis has amazing products!

  41. jane9 on December 14, 2010 at 12:39 am

Cute plates! In college I had to do a 5 week field course. We were out climbing rocks from 8 am to 3 pm mon to Friday. Five days a week for those five weeks I had a soggy ham and cheese on wheat. Still cannot look at ham 14 years later

  42. Ann Liu on December 14, 2010 at 12:52 am

I hope everything goes well with starting up Dance Trance! Everything happens for a reason 🙂 Now someone needs to open a Dance Trance in Houston…

  43. Heather (Heather's Dish) on December 14, 2010 at 12:58 am

i actually was so burned out on bananas that i didn’t eat them for almost 20 years. yes, it’s true…

  44. kt on December 14, 2010 at 1:38 am

Oooh, I’m excited to see the eggless nog you come up with. 🙂

Years ago, when I used to “diet” I would routinely get sick of the food I was eating (bland chicken breasts, egg whites, plain baked potatoes, whey protein- yuck!). I still get the gag reflex when I think about eating those things. I feel so much healthier (and happier!) eating more vibrant, living foods.

  45. Maya on December 14, 2010 at 7:09 am

    Vegan egg nog?! Can’t wait!

I recently broke my toe, too (or at least, severely injured). I was trying to do a headstand and fell really awkwardly. But now I can do one (albeit against a wall)! It was worth it, and the toe is on the mend. Wishing your toe a speedy recovery!

  46. Katie on December 14, 2010 at 7:20 am

Woot Woot! SO excited you found a studio for dance trance! I am just going to start teaching it at the local gym here in the new year, with hope of opening up my own studio one day!!!! Best of luck to you girl! U deserve it all!!!

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2010 at 9:50 am

thanks girl! i think i’m going to be going to the workshop in feb- i’ll hit you up when i know for sure!

Awesome Gina! Yes let me know if you go to the workshop!!!! : )

  47. Pixie on December 14, 2010 at 8:51 am

Definately. I cannot stand ramen noodles, the thought makes my gag reflexes kick in. Like you I eat a lot of tuna, but somehow I never get sick of it. Your lunch looked awesome!

  48. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on December 14, 2010 at 8:54 am

I can’t really think of any food that I’m burnt out on! If I like something, I don’t tend to get sick of it.

That’s so exciting you found a Dance Trance studio! 😀

  49. Amanda on December 14, 2010 at 9:16 am

Just wanted to let you know that I FINALLY tried some breakfast cookie dough cereal and it was A-MAY-ZING. i don’t think i could ever burn out on that one. In fact, I’ll likely have one (two?) for dessert…
