This is Halloween

Hi guys 🙂 Happy almost-Friday!!

viesser

I’m OFF WORK again today 🙂 For the last two times that I’ve been off, I’ve packed my day full of errands and other crazy to-dos. Today, I’m gonna take it easy…

and have cake for breakfast.

cereal

I crumbled a piece of the vegan pumpkin bread into my bfast cookie dough cereal this morning…

and holy amazeballs.

cereal (2)

While the pumpkin bread tastes pretty dang delicious after baking it, it tastes even better the next day because the flavors become more intense. Glorious.

Dinner last night was a la bento box at work (a Daiya-dilla on brown rice tortilla with salad) and a Larabar:

Halloween nails!!

Speaking of Halloween, I’ve been trying to decide what to dress Viesa and Bella up as this year.

Last year, they were Fiona and Shrek:

howloween1  005

and they LOVED dressing up 😉

On the prowl for something equally fun! Do you dress your pets up?

The tentative plan for the day, since I’m chillin’:

-Sleep in (done!)

-Blog (done)

-Post office

-Tackle the email inbox

-Find Dance Trance shoes

-Put together Halloween package for the guys

-Weights (AM) and Dance Trance (PM)

I may somehow end up at an Indian food buffet this afternoon 😉

See ya later today!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to think:

Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism. Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human can, paradoxically, make yourself a happier and more productive person.

Today’s workout jam: “Ragdoll” by Lucy Woodward – we used this for a cool down in DT the other night and I loved it 🙂

I used to dress my puppy up, but I have been grounded from doing so! I hope you come up with something creative! I love your quotes they have really resonated with me as I’ve been struggling with the age old what to do with myself question!

  2. Jessica @ How Sweet on October 7, 2010 at 9:37 am

No pets here, but when I lived at home we sometimes dressed up our golden in funny costumes. 🙂

  3. Sandra on October 7, 2010 at 9:37 am

Love love love that quote! In fact, so much that I’m printing it and putting it up at work and in my planner for school.

I’m struggling with a costume for the baby this year. Last year she was a ladybug. This year, I just don’t know.

    • Dana Marie on October 7, 2010 at 11:46 am

Agree! Totally great quote = thanks!

  4. Holly @ couchpotatoathlete on October 7, 2010 at 9:40 am

I love how Viesa’s costume brings out the green in her eyes 🙂

We don’t have pets, but our friends have 2 little dogs and they are spiders each year. I hate spiders with all my might but the dogs look really cute!

The quote is great — success (to me) can change over time, which makes it more achievable.

your pets are so sweet!! I’m suprised they let you do that! cute!

i hope you have a great day off!

btw did you get any new books at the library?

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2010 at 9:45 am

not yet- they had to mail me my card to prove that i actually live here, haha, but when i get it, i’ll head to the library and post some new stuff!

  6. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on October 7, 2010 at 9:43 am

I don’t have a pet, but dogs in Halloween costumes are infinitely better than kids in Halloween costumes. I especially like when they wear shoes. It makes them walk all funny like they’re prancing.

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2010 at 9:45 am

haha! i WISH my dogs would wear shoes

  7. Jessica@tastyandtrim on October 7, 2010 at 9:46 am

I have more fun dressing up my dog, Snickers, than I do dressing up myself! Last year he was Spiderman 🙂 I also love putting sweaters on him during the holidays. This past Christmas he rocked the new snuggie he got as a gift with his little dog “booties.” The booties did not last long..he threw quite the fit and raced around the house until they fell off 🙂

  8. Mo on October 7, 2010 at 9:47 am

I love it when you catch your puppy napping and they look like they are in mid-stride! Angus has been superman (cape and all) the last few years. Haven’t decided if I’m going to switch it up yet. Enjoy your Friday my friend. Mo

My dog and my roommate’s dog were snow white and prince charming one year! It was awesome. (Although my roommates dog did not like his crown and did not think it was awesome.)

Aww your pups look so cute! I don’t have any pets to dress up but totally would if I did!

  13. Jeannette on October 7, 2010 at 10:00 am

I dressed my dog up as a cop last year! He was so cute! He also had a pumpkin shirt that he wore most of the month. Got them both in a grouping on eBay for super cheap last year.

  15. Ilana on October 7, 2010 at 10:04 am

awwww what cute puppers!! Love it. One year my friend went as Quail Man from that Nickelodeon cartoon Doug and dressed his dog up like Porkchop/Quail Dog. It was awesome.

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2010 at 10:54 am

      omg that is amazing!

  16. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on October 7, 2010 at 10:06 am

I just picked up an angel and devil costume for my two dogs…even though they BOTH should be going as devils 🙂

  17. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on October 7, 2010 at 10:12 am

That’s a great quote. I love the outfits on the puppers… Viesa is a skinny Shrek! Have a great day!

  18. Kate on October 7, 2010 at 10:14 am

I haven’t had a halloween with my puppy yet, but I’m looking forward to dressing her up! I think she’d look really cute as a pumpkin 🙂
You could do Cinderella and let them be Cinderella and a pumpkin, Bella would look super cute in a dress and tiara!

  19. Beth @ Will Run for Books on October 7, 2010 at 10:16 am

hahahaha! so cute. my doggy is going as a banana this year – old navy has really cute dog costumes that are very inexpensive.

  20. Nicole @ Geek Turned Athlete on October 7, 2010 at 10:21 am

I’ve never dressed a pet up before, but the hubs and I are getting our first pet together this Sat. It will be a 7 wk old weim. I’m not sure what we will dress him up as, but it will be something super cute to compliment his cuteness!!

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2010 at 10:53 am

happy new pet! that is so cute

  21. justine on October 7, 2010 at 10:21 am

    Hi Gina!
Two things: Firstly, I never dressed up the dog ( may he rest in peace), but my godmother’s kids and I would occasionally dye his coat punk- pink with beetroot juice for parties… organic, natural and gratifyingly startling to any passing adult..
Secondly, is your canned pumpkin sweetened? The only kind I can find, bizarrely, is plain organic butternut squash puree, and I want to have a crack at your recipe.
    Cheers love!

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2010 at 10:53 am

      that’s a great idea!!
it’s not sweetened- it’s just canned pumpkin puree, they should have it at any grocery store

  22. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on October 7, 2010 at 10:27 am

My mother-in-law just gave me a Halloween costume for my dog this week– it’s a “Moose mounted on a wall” costume! Ha! I can’t wait to see how my pup looks! (but she HATES costumes, so it will probably last all of 2 minutes…) 😉

  23. Shanna @ Shanna LIke Banana on October 7, 2010 at 10:35 am

Awww very cute! I love the outfits. Naava is going to be grapes…yeah sounds weird, but looks cute!

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2010 at 10:52 am

  26. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on October 7, 2010 at 10:42 am

    Love the halloween nails!

  27. Laura on October 7, 2010 at 10:44 am

I love the title to your blog post because I love love love that movie!

We have a basset hound and for some reason people always think he’s a blood hound or a dachshund (maybe its because we keep him lean and trim) so maybe for Halloween we’ll just tell people that he is dressing up as one of those!

  28. Leanne @ Simplicitlee on October 7, 2010 at 10:56 am

Hahaha I loved the puppies costumes!! I burst out laughing… thanks for that!

That dance trance class sounds like so much fun!

  29. Heather (Heather's Dish) on October 7, 2010 at 11:14 am

what kind of shoes are dance trance shoes?! that sounds fancy 😉

  30. Stefanie @thenewhealthy on October 7, 2010 at 11:20 am

Target has the cutest costumes for pets! I have a dachshund and I wanted to dress her up as a hot dog, but she wasn’t having it! 😉

  31. Emily on October 7, 2010 at 11:26 am

Pick up Nike Musique sneaks for Dance Trance! They give great support and are still easy to dance in, I wear them when I teach Zumba and they are fab! 🙂

  32. Laughter-Loving Stacy on October 7, 2010 at 11:32 am

HAHAH BELLA LOOKS ADORABLE! Ooh I love it!

My mom would try to dress our dogs up, but they don’t like it so much, which is unfortunate because it’s too cute. 🙂

  33. Lauren on October 7, 2010 at 11:39 am

    Harry Potter costumes!!!!

My friend also dressed her dog up as a “watch dog” one year- so cute.

  34. Jenny on October 7, 2010 at 11:48 am

I found the cutest Wizard of Oz scarecrow outfit for my Boston Terrier, Winston. I’m still not sure what Riley will be wearing.

  35. Krystina on October 7, 2010 at 11:53 am

    LOL Bella is too cute

  36. Oh my god- love those outfits!! Doubt my cats or rabbits would let me dress them up…but I can try!!!

  37. Chelsea at Striking Balance on October 7, 2010 at 11:55 am

I LOVE that quote, Gina! Where do you find all these great quotes? They are always so inspirational 🙂

Your pups are so cute in their costumes! I can’t wait to see what you dress them up in this year.

  40. Allison @ Food for Healing on October 7, 2010 at 12:38 pm

aww dressing up the puppers, thats so cute! My cats would NEVER allow that haha.

i think i need to try a b-fast cookie or cookie dough cereal sometime.. seriously. I am starving all the time at work, i need some better filler i think.

  41. Maya on October 7, 2010 at 12:39 pm

I’ve had your bfast cookie dough cereal several time now and it’s delish! I especially love it with a little sprinkle of salt like you describe for the salty sweet flavah. I bet pumpkin bread just takes it to the next level!

  42. Sana on October 7, 2010 at 12:41 pm

    Is today Wednesday?!!?!?!?

  43. Heather on October 7, 2010 at 12:53 pm

LOVE the new “workout jam” idea! I am always looking for new workout music! Thx!!!

  45. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on October 7, 2010 at 2:26 pm

Love the costumes and just yesterday I went Halloween costume shopping with Skylar. It was so much fun! She kept telling me over and over what she wanted to be (same as last year) so that’s what it was…we almost bought the same costume in this year’s size, but changed it up a smidge.

Days off and chilling…AMEN! Get your chillin’ groove on and dont try to jam pack every last thing in…something i TOTALLY do all the time and then am exhausted after my “day off”.

    🙂

  46. Naomi(onefitfoodie) on October 7, 2010 at 2:31 pm
