26 weeks

and feeling nesty.

26 weeks:

26weeks

The belly continues to grow and the baby continues to dance and kick away. It’s crazy because now I can tell how long she is in my belly. Last night, she was kicking on my right side and doing something on my left side at the same time. Insane…and awesome.

The Pilot finally got to understand how much our little girl likes chicken/poultry. When I was eating last night’s turkey burger, I told him that she would start flipping at any moment. I hadn’t even finished my dinner before the dance party started.

“Come here and feel this!! It’s crazy”

“Oh my god! You weren’t joking. She’ll get her love of veggies and chocolate from her mama, and she’ll appreciate a good steak like her dad.”

Here we go 🙂

Updates for this week:

-I’m running out of clothes. My bottoms and dresses still fit me –jeans are a little tight but my crops are ok if I do the button hole trick- but shirts are a different story. My lululemon tanks almost all still work [thank goodness for stretchy luon] but as far as *real* clothes go, I’m running out. Last night I was getting ready for bed, and put on a matching tank and shorts set of jammies. The tank that used to fit was now a midriff with my belly hanging out the botto- Tom and I laughed pretty hard about that one. Guess I need to invest in some real, maternity tops and/or dresses. My shower is coming up in November and I think it would be nice to wear an outfit that fits me 😉

-I’m still loving the belly rubs, but am so sick of hearing what people think about my belly’s size. It’s never ok to comment on a woman’s size when she’s not pregnant, so why is it suddenly ok when she is? It’s just funny because some people tell me my belly is so small, and other people ask how many babies are in there. A work supervisor (!) came up to me after Zumba on Saturday –after a group of ladies stayed after to tell me how much they loved class and they can’t believe I’m still rocking it out pregnant- and said “I just can’t get over how big you are. How far along are you? Almost 7 months? I was never that big.” What do you even say to that? “Good for you?” I felt really warm and fuzzy after that one.

-Current cravings: the same. I’m so boring this week, haha. Tom has had many pregnancy cravings, though.

-Weight gained: not sure, but my guess is around 17 lbs. I’ll find out at the midwives’ this week.

-The nesting urge has hit me with a bang- I’m so excited to get the nursery put together. We picked out our crib yesterday from Babies ‘R Us:

image Princeton Crib in Espresso

I love the fact that the changing table is attached to the crib, since the nursery is fairly small.

nursery

Today, I also embarked on my first house-related DIY project: hanging letters of the baby’s name.

I had seen this done in quite a few friends’ nurseries and thought it would be something to personalize the room, but easy to take down since she’ll be moving to her own room eventually and the nursery will become an office [or nursery for the next baby].

Flourish Hanging Letters Source

[Nope, little nugette will not be named “Tatum”, just wanted to show an example]

On a baby website, I entered the name we had chosen, along with ribbon and color selections and the grand total: $176, not including shipping. For letters and ribbon. No way.

So I’m going to attempt to make my own, which could either be a huge success or a great fail.

First stop was at Michael’s to get the supplies:

michaels

and the total was already far less: $42. I’m thinking I can finish the project for under $70.

Letters:

[A few letters for a name hint]

and paint.

I picked out colors to match the bedding and am still trying to decide if I’ll do each letter differently, or do every other letter like the one pictured above.

It blows my mind that’s almost October already. Once we get to the end of October, it’s going to be a blink of an eye and she’ll be here. Tom’s birthday, our date-aversary (yeah, we celebrate it), my bday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Baby. Lots of little things to look forward to along the way, before the best surprise of all <3

Thanks for sharing those letters…. My niece’s name it TATUM so this gives me a great idea for a Christmas gift (although making them rather than buying for $176… that’s just crazy!)

    • Shari B. (FitFeat) on September 27, 2011 at 6:10 pm

OK, that came out sounding like I meant crazy for making them…! oops! I mean that it’s crazy a company could charge that kind of money, so I’ll DEF be making some.

      • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 6:11 pm

right? it just seemed ridiculous to me

  2. Kris | iheartwellness.com on September 27, 2011 at 6:10 pm

Awwww how cute are these letters!!!! You’re such a crafty mom 😉 Love it!! Hmmm my intuition got a reaction from these letters and I ‘feel’ {lol} I know what the name is! HAHAH!!

The nursery will look gorg…just like your 26 weeks pic!!! HOTTNESS!!

    xxoo

  5. Karen on September 27, 2011 at 6:12 pm

    You are looking F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.!!!

  6. James on September 27, 2011 at 6:13 pm

You look amazing! I’m still trying to figure out how to eat more like you – I love healthy food but I feel like I’m ALWAYS hungry – and you are preggo! I’m pretty sure when I’m pregnant (God willing) I will not be able to hold back from giving outspoken bump watchers the Bon Qui Qui “RUDE”!

  7. ecoprincess on September 27, 2011 at 6:13 pm

I’m so excited to find out nugettes name! 🙂

  8. Kate on September 27, 2011 at 6:14 pm

what a fun & cute project, I cant wait to find out the babys name!

  9. Kaila @healthyhelperblog! on September 27, 2011 at 6:16 pm

OH OH! IS IT MY NAME!?!?! Kaila!?!?!?!

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 6:18 pm

no, but you do have a beautiful name

  10. Elizabeth @ reads recipes runs on September 27, 2011 at 6:16 pm

How funnnnnn!!! People need to stop caring about your belly size. You’re growing a human in there, do whatever you need to do. Geesh!

I love the letter idea, and I can’t believe that they wanted to charge you that much! I bet Martha Stewart’s website has some stensils or cutouts you can use to get a fun pattern.

  11. Danielle on September 27, 2011 at 6:16 pm

    So fun!!

And you are such a tease ;)….Allison? Liana? Ahhhhhh 😀

  12. Tess on September 27, 2011 at 6:18 pm

Haha my brain also went into overdrive trying to guess the name. My sister is Isabel, so that was my first thought…Isabella? Gabrielle? Gabriella? And then I went to Abigail and Lillian and Lila and all over the place. I feel like I’m at a baby shower doing a guess the name thing. A blog baby shower. 🙂 So excited for you! You’re absolutely glowing!

  13. Amanda on September 27, 2011 at 6:19 pm

176$ for letters?! That’s a lot of baby clothes!

I totally agree with you on the belly comments. If I say anything I say “You are all baby, so beautiful.” But I try not to focus on “Hey you’re huge”, that’s just rude.

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 6:20 pm

      right? so rude

      • Yvonne on September 28, 2011 at 3:06 pm

I have a strong feeling that you get those comments cuz you are so fit and in shape that the belly stands out. But come on!! There is a baby in there!! She needs to grow! I think you look fabulous and I can only HOPE that I look that good during pregnancy!

        • Fitnessista on September 28, 2011 at 3:16 pm

          thanks girl! <3
and you're right- baby needs to GROW.. healthy and strong 🙂

  14. Brigid on September 27, 2011 at 6:22 pm

That’s crazy expensive! You can definitely make your own for cheaper and probably cuter.

And my initial thought was Laila, but I also thought of Isabella (like another poster). Can’t wait to find out. 🙂

    • Brigid on September 27, 2011 at 8:30 pm

Also, I don’t know if you do any sewing, but I made name bunting for a coworker’s baby gift last year: http://greyeyedesigns.blogspot.com/2010/08/baby-crafts.html. It was super cheap and easy, even for sewing novices (me included!). If you’re interested, I’d be happy to send you the instructions. I could probably even be convinced to stitch one up. 🙂

  15. Laura on September 27, 2011 at 6:22 pm

I can’t resist guessing – I’m going to go ahead and say Abigail 🙂 it is my niece’s name and she’s pretty much the best thing since nut butter haha

the letters idea is so cute and I love that you are trying to DIY – good luck!

  16. Kim on September 27, 2011 at 6:23 pm

So I’m really bad at writing (or actually posting what I write) on my blog (trying to be better about it)–but one of my posts that I did write documents my experience when I tried to decoupage a present for my friend’s baby shower. I bought wooden letters and frames from Michael’s–and took scrapbook paper and a restaurant take out bag and decoupaged away to make a picture frame ladder with his name spread across each frame. My friend LOVED the present and she has it hanging on the his bedroom door filled with his pictures.

  17. Sarah on September 27, 2011 at 6:23 pm

UMMMM you are the most gorgeous pregnant lady EVER 🙂

maybe this is a terrible idea, and keep in mind that it probably is, but i feel like maybe sometimes you could/should make a joke about it. like, “ha, actually i’m not pregnant. but thanks!” and then walk away. that’ll show them!

ps how about this crazy storm!? my house is shaking!

  18. Alicia on September 27, 2011 at 6:23 pm

DIY Stuff is always so much cheaper – and you feel better knowing you made it yourself! Even more personalized =) I have to agree, I think you’re the fittest pregnant woman I have ever seen, and can’t believe you are doing as much as you are still! haha, I’m defs not pregnant and probably don’t do all that..lol. Also, that lady needs to think before she speaks 😉 The little nugget’s room is going to look so nice!

  19. Julie (A Case of the Runs) on September 27, 2011 at 6:24 pm

Well, let’s see… given the price of the letters, I’m guessing it’s not a short name….

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:14 pm

      it’s more than 4 letters 🙂

  20. Melissa on September 27, 2011 at 6:27 pm

My guess for the name is Olivia!!!

  21. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on September 27, 2011 at 6:29 pm

Its crazy that there are people saying how big your belly is when all I see in those pictures is how AMAZING you look! You have got to be the cutest pregnant person I have ever seen!

  22. Shayla @ The Good Life on September 27, 2011 at 6:30 pm

I can’t believe people (especially your supervisor?!) have the nerve to say those kinds of comments to you…it makes me angry for you!

Well, if it’s any consolation, you look gorgeous and glowing and I think you’re bump looks perfect! 🙂

  23. Suzanne on September 27, 2011 at 6:33 pm

    You’re glowing and look amazing.

    Is nugget’s name Laila? 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:13 pm

      thank you, suzanne <3
nope, but i do love that name

      • Suzanne on September 28, 2011 at 11:54 am

I love that name too. Can’t wait to see what the actual name turns out to be! 🙂

  24. Brittany on September 27, 2011 at 6:38 pm

You look beautiful, girl! Your pregnancy posts have been really informative and fun to read; can’t wait to read your new mama posts when baby gets here! 🙂

  25. ali on September 27, 2011 at 6:40 pm

its so much better to DIY I think – and it’s more personal to say you made the letters 🙂 oh thanks for the little hint…. perhaps Alison (like my name) or Allie or Alice? hmmmm

  26. Jill on September 27, 2011 at 6:44 pm

I can not stand when people comment about how big or small your belly is – I’m 22 weeks and everyone keeps on telling me that my belly is too small and asking me if I eat! WTF? I eat plenty of calories and am gaining the normal amount of weight. Some people are just so rude – dont let it get to you. You look fabulous darling! Love the letters idea! So cute!! 🙂

  27. Priyanka on September 27, 2011 at 6:46 pm

I don’t comment that often, but love reading all your pregnancy updates. Cannot believe you are already 26 weeks in and you look so amazing. Just went through most of previous weeks post.

  28. Beth on September 27, 2011 at 6:49 pm

I totally understand about the rude comments! I measured very small my entire pregnancy (just because of the way my insides were shaped) and some lady in a store started yelling at me saying it was so selfish of me not to be eating and taking care of my baby just because I didn’t want to gain weight. First of all, quit judging me and second of all, I AM EATING!!!

You look fabulous and just the right size! 🙂

    • maria @ a life to bragg about on September 27, 2011 at 6:59 pm

I’m going through the same thing. One older guy even told me I should work out so much and that my baby will come out “retarded”. RUDE! I’m a taller person so I think the baby grows other ways then just out.

      • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:10 pm

wtf? i can’t understand some people.

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:12 pm

omg! haha i can’t even believe that. so insanely rude.
      thank you!

  29. Suzanne on September 27, 2011 at 6:51 pm

You look amazing so I wouldn’t even give it a thought what other people say. After having three babies I came to realize that people just say things like that not really to insult but just to make conversation with you about the baby so I would try not to take it too personally. The thing that really annoyed me, as you’ll probably find out soon, was “so when are you due”… every day. This becomes really irritating especially if your baby is overdue which all mine were. Love the letter idea. I’m sure your little girl will have the cutest room ever with her smart shopping mommy in charge.

  30. Ali @ Peaches and Football on September 27, 2011 at 6:52 pm

Alison!! You can call her Ali for short 🙂

Just make sure to spell it with one “L” so it is spelled the way it sounds. Ha Ha 😉

I can’t quite figure out how people had full term pregnancies and were not as big as you. It doesn’t make sense because you do not look ready to deliver at all!! Looks like one baby, about ~25 weeks along. I’d say everything looks just right.

  31. Emily Malone on September 27, 2011 at 6:53 pm

If it’s any help, I was thinking you looked just right for 26 weeks. 🙂 I remember thinking back then that my belly was SO BIG, and getting comments from strangers on the size. Man if they could see me now, haha!

  32. Michelle on September 27, 2011 at 6:56 pm

    Is the baby’s name Lia?

You look lovely and glowy and happy…I hope you don’t get too discouraged by thoughtless people!

  33. Jen on September 27, 2011 at 6:58 pm

These posts of yours give me so much pregnancy envy. I can’t wait until the day I find out I’m pregnant! I still have a few more years until the fiancé (who will be the husband by then) and I plan to start trying. I’m so excited for you!

  34. maria @ a life to bragg about on September 27, 2011 at 6:58 pm

I can’t believe you’re 26 weeks already! Pregnancy goes by so quickly…I feel like you JUST announced haha. Soon you’ll be in the the third tri and I’ll have my little baby, CRAZY!!! Also…I’m dying to know what her name will be 😀

  35. Mary on September 27, 2011 at 6:58 pm

So, I just wanted to let you know that when I opened my reader the first thing I thought was “she might be the cutest pregnant woman I’ve ever seen” (besides my sisters of course 🙂 ). I’ve accidentally told women they were getting big but usually just in excitement that there’s a baby in there…so maybe your supervisor meant it as a positive?

  36. Valerie @ FreshMutz on September 27, 2011 at 6:58 pm

You look gorgeous!!! At first glance my baby name guess was Isabella… but then that might be too close to your other baby’s name 😉

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:11 pm

haha yes, bella will be the only bella in this house 🙂

  37. Lauren on September 27, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Alaina? 😉 I hope it begins with an A! My baby is audriana, so I have a special love for “A’s”.. I’m with you on the comments, I don’t understand it either, so rude!

  38. maria @ a life to bragg about on September 27, 2011 at 7:01 pm

Also, you can tell you haven’t gained anywhere else, you’re all baby. You should just tell them to stick their comments up their ass. People, man!

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:10 pm

hahah i wish i could! thank you friend.

  39. Lindsay on September 27, 2011 at 7:02 pm

Dude, you look amazing. Can’t believe anyone says anything but “You are so gorgeous and I WISHED I looked as good as you do when I was/will be pregnant.”

Fingers crossed your bean’s name isn’t going to be Ail …. it means Garlic en Francais. 🙂

  40. Lindsay on September 27, 2011 at 7:05 pm

I love the letters, what an adorable idea!!!! Hmmm I’m guessing it’s not my name, even though it does have all of those letters! I wanted to guess Lila (one of my friends is having a Lila… any day now!) but that doesn’t seem like enough letters to cost $176… so I’m going to guess Abigail or Olivia!!

  41. Amy M on September 27, 2011 at 7:09 pm

Love the crib/changing table! So cute.
My name guesses are Ali, Lia, Alison, Leia…. I am sure its a beautiful name whatever it is!

  42. RachelG on September 27, 2011 at 7:14 pm

    If it’s Laila I’m gonna plotz! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:16 pm

      what is plotz?!

      • RachelG on September 27, 2011 at 7:20 pm

Yiddish for freak out (in a good way). So you might say, “I found out I was pregnant and I was so excited I thought I’d plotz.” 🙂 Try to incorporate it once a day. You’ll notice that crazy arm movements start to go along with it! lol.

        • RachelG on September 27, 2011 at 7:21 pm

btw…I swear I’m not an 80 year old jewish lady…we just learn to talk like this from birth. lol!

        • Fitnessista on September 27, 2011 at 7:24 pm

oh i’ve never heard that one before! i like it 🙂

  43. allison @ thesundayflog on September 27, 2011 at 7:22 pm

ooooooooooh!! please be allison! haha!! those letters up there spell ali – my nickname – so im just gonna go with that one 😉

  44. Chris on September 27, 2011 at 7:25 pm

Don’t pay any attention to those people! You.look.GREAT! Some people can be so unforgivingly mean. You have a whole other person in there, it wouldn’t matter if you gained 50 pounds or 20 pounds as long as the baby is healthy, thats all that matters! 🙂 Love the crib!

  45. Clare @ Fitting It All In on September 27, 2011 at 7:26 pm

    abigail???

  46. Cat on September 27, 2011 at 7:30 pm

I think you look amazing as well! I have to echo everyone else & say that I can’t believe you’re 26 weeks. It feels like just a few weeks ago that you announced your pregnancy. I love the letters idea. Can’t wait to see what it’ll like all finished!

  47. amanda on September 27, 2011 at 7:40 pm

    is it alexis???

  48. kathleen @ the daily crumb on September 27, 2011 at 7:42 pm

my guess is claire 🙂 such a cute idea! and loving the crib/changing table combo… talk about efficiency!

  49. Haley on September 27, 2011 at 7:45 pm

First of all…love the crib and changing table you picked out–so cute for a smaller space!!! Second…I’ve seen lots of names on the wall but I love the ribbon idea (especially since it’s a she) which makes it much less permanent. Third…I’m not even going to attempt guessing the name but cannot wait to see her little face and find out her name soon enough 🙂

  50. Dominique on September 27, 2011 at 7:46 pm

You look radiant at 26 weeks! That’s why I love the idea of being pregnant so much because of all the glowing, pregnant women I’ve seen. Wow, I can’t believe someone would actually say that to you. If I’ve ever pregnant, no one better say that to me or I might whip out some “pregnant emotions” and whoop their ass 😉

Whatever the name is I’m sure it’ll be beautiful. A lot of the suggestions people have already made would sound great. I like most of them. Having a name that wasn’t too common (I’ve never met another Dominique) means I was (I mean, am) obsessed with anything on my name on it…or having anything that could be customized with my name. I wonder how much a name of nine letters would cost!
