5 casual everyday mom uniforms
Hi friends! Howโs the day going? I hope youโre having a wonderful morning. Last night, I went to a super fun event at Creative Tribe with some girlfriends. We got to learn about tarot cards – donโt worry, I wonโt be switching my online business lol- and embroidered a tarot card tote bag. Creative Tribe has so many unique crafting events, and itโs BYOB, so you can sip wine out of a Yeti cup. Not a bad way to spend the evening.
Casual Everyday Mom Uniforms
For todayโs post, I thought Iโd share some of the casual mom uniforms Iโve been wearing lately. I love getting outfit ideas from friends, especially the type of clothes that I can wear everyday and look *put together* for all of the things I do during the day: chase the girls around, work, run errands, play dolls on the living room floor, or kick a soccer ball outside with the kids. I would love to live in lulu 100% of the time, but I find that I feel better and am more productive when I take a little time to get dressed in non-athletic clothes. (This post totally includes one athletic outfit because #reallife)
1) Everlane button-down with jean shorts and a scarf headband
(with these sandals)
I got this headband idea from Jess and itโs fun trendy detail and way to hide the fact that my hair needs a wash. ย This shirt was my first time ordering from Everlane and Iโll definitely be trying out more of their pieces. ย (I wasnโt sure about sizing and am usually between a 2 and 4 for tops. I ordered a 2 and it worked perfectly. I might try a 4 if itโs something thatโs more fitted) Itโs the perfect everyday white button-down: lightweight, not too see-through, and washes well. These denim shorts are super comfortable and easy to incorporate into different cute mom outfits.
2) Express black romper with embellished sandalsย (<โ black is gone but the blush is only $40!)
This romper made me understand how easy it is to just wear black all the time. Before, I could never understand why people had entirely black closets and I totally get it now. Simple, classy, versatile, boom. Plus you can easily throw on a denim jacket if you need an extra layer. These sandals are my go-tos. They match so many things and I always get compliments on them. If you’re looking for more effortless casual outfits, I highly recommend this one.
3) Rails dress with low-top sneakersย (<โ part of the Anniversary Sale! Theyโre down to $85 from $130 and public access starts tomorrow)
This is my favorite dress right now! It came in a recent Trunk Club shipment and while it was a bit pricey, Iโve worn it a ton already. (Heads up that it runs a bit big, so if youโre in between sizes, size down.)
4) lululemon shorts with a V-neck tee and APL sneaks
I needed a couple of new pairs of lulu shorts becauseโฆ my butt has grown haha. So I found these floral ones and really like the print.
5) Athleta shorts and tank with embellished sandals
(These ones are in the graphic above since the ones I usually wear are out of stock in black)
It was my first time trying Athletaโs non-athletic clothes and Iโm a huge fan. The fabric is light and breathable – a must for Tucson summer – and flattering. Iโve heard their jeans are a dream, too.
6) Tee and jean shorts with sneakers
This is another one of my favorite mom outfits ideas. It’s similar to the first outfit, but even more casual. For this look, I just grab a graphic tee or striped t-shirt, a pair of versatile denim shorts, and a pair of white sneakers. This effortless, yet trendy outfit is what mom style is all about.
7) Shirt dress with sandals
A classic shirt dress is another great option for moms. Whether you’re running errands, doling out snacks at soccer practice, or trying to enjoy a quick dinner date, this dress makes it easy to look stylish and put together.
I also feel like Iโm in an awkward phase of life fashion-wise. So often, I find that styles are too young or too mature. I need something in between a mumu and a crop top with a high-waist skirt (<โ super cute but would undoubtedly get some raised eyebrows at preschool drop-off).
Where do you get your everyday outfits? Whereโs your favorite place to shop? Lately Iโve been ordering everything from Nordstrom for the most part, just because they have so many different things and an awesome return policy. Iโm also a huge fan of Trunk Club; many of the outfits above came from those shipments. If you have any favorite stores or online resources for everyday clothes, please let me know!
(Also, do you like these types or posts or nah?)
Hope you have a wonderful day and Iโll see ya in the morning!
xo

I love these posts! I’m not a mom but I still draw inspiration from what others are wearing…even “mom uniforms!” ๐
Actually, that’s not entirely true…I’m a dog mom. ๐
I love these kinds of posts. I totally feel you on the in-between phase. I’m 34 and just don’t know what to do. Where do we go on the journey between Urban Outfitters and Talbots??
Everlane is a good mid-point, though. Their clothes are high quality, their customer service is great, and the styles seem to say, “I’m mature enough to give no f**s about passing trends, but too young to need to hide my turkey neck with a dramatic scarf from Chicos.”
HAHAHA I’m also too young to need the turkey neck scarf from Chicos.
Sole Society has high quality shoes and clothes, that are affordable in the sale section and age appropriate for the ladies in their 30’s. I also love 6pm.com because they have virtually everything and offer great deals.
โJourney between urban outfitters and Talbotsโ At almost 36, feel the same! Trunk club was great my first time. Will Ben trying again.
yay, so glad you liked it!
I totally feel you on the weird in-between fashion phase of life. I’m not a mom but am a university professor. I’m young for a professor, so finding clothes that say “reasonably professional college professor” but that still feel like me is tricky! It doesn’t help that a lot of influencers are embracing styles that just aren’t my thing (ahem, crop tops) so it’s hard to find style inspiration these days. I love the outfits you’ve picked for casual summer afternoons!
I so hear you on this. Getting confused for a college student instead of the one teaching the college students is the worst!!!
I enjoy these posts for sure! Definitely inspires me to get out of the LULU’s a few times a week ๐
I discovered Athleta non-athletic shorts this summer too and am in love! I like the Fallon style. Short but not booty!
Love this type of post!! Iโm in a similar struggle- I work in an office so I have a ton of business wear, I have a ton of running clothes, but I struggle w what to wear on the weekends to chase a 2 year old around. I want to look cute and put together, but a cute strappy sundress isnโt gonna cut it.
that’s how i feel, too. so many of my clothes are either “date night” or “active” and not much in between
Fun post! Iโm in a similar stage of life right now. My current style is simple, but nicely made and properly fitted. So often, looking โgoodโ is simply a proper fit. My go to shops (besides lulu) are everlane, aritzia, the gap, and target).
I love this post! I feel like your mid-30s are a weird in-between phase fashion-wise. I mostly wear tank tops with shorts or jeans on my off time and dresses to work (one piece of clothing = lazy, but fancy looking). I just ordered some new tank tops from Pact and I’m excited to try them! Aviator denim is my fave for jeans, they have actually functional pockets and lots of them!
love pact!! i’ll check out aviator, too
Love these posts a lot! I’ve bought several cute pieces from Madewell this summer. Love Athlete, too.
looooooove madewell, too!
I am right there with you on being in between old and young! The mumu comment made me lol. When did shorts get SO short?!? I have been slowly but surely replacing my wardrobe with clothes from carlyjeanlosangeles.com. Much to my husbandโs chagrin. . Highly highly recommend!!!
i’ll check it out now! thanks!
I live in lulu but also rely on Banana Republic and Gap for classier clothes . IMO, nothing beats a pair of skinny Jeans, comfortable yet chic flats and crisp shirt or flowy blouse! I’ve also found some adorable flowy dresses off Amazon! The Mix and Match Mama is another blog I follow and she’s got great fashion I bet you’d be into!!
i’ll check her out – thank you!
My pleasure!
I try not to get in my head about it too much because age ainโt nothinโ but a number. However, I find myself drawn to simple and classic silhouettes. I could wear a vintage graphic T-shirt with cutoffs or athletic leggings daily, but I feel more put together in a solid button down (or silk cami since itโs hotter than hell) with relaxed jeans.
same! i like the find tried and true pieces that i know will always work
Almost 40 (yikes) here and definitely not ready to dress like a mature lady yet! Iโm a fan of Loft, Nordstrom, free people, and local boutiques. Oh and Tarjay! Lol
love these ideas! free people is a great one
Love these kind of posts, and love these outfits! I completely agree about the awkward stage of fashion. Right now Iโm a stay-at-home Mom to twin three year old boys and itโs challenging to find outfits that look cute, but are still functional enough to chase my kids around the park. Everything seems way too young (crop tops galore) or way too old.
yes, we’re in the weird in-between stage!
What does what you did last night have to do with what youโre wearing? Why do you insist on proving to people that you have friends? The more you talk about it the less itโs believed.
I usually start each post with a greeting and little bit of what weโve been up to. Last night was kind of random and fun so I thought Iโd mention it. No need to be salty lol
Iโm 40. It doesnโt help that I kind of like grandma clothes. I love linen in the summer. I like elastic waist bands. Comfort is the my number one priority now. If someone compliments me on something, the first thing I say is โItโs so comfortable!โ Unfortunately it gets harder the older you get because I shouldnโt shop at forever 21 but Iโm not to the polyester stage yet either. Haha. I love these posts though!
haha! i feel ya. and i totally want to live in joggers every day because they’re so comfy ๐
Have you tried an Athleta skort? Iโm obsessed with mine
OMG, Gina! You read my mind! This morning I thought to myself I wish Gina would write a post on what to wear to drop off haha! My daughter is getting ready to start preschool & I have no idea what I’m supposed to wear. I’m 40 & also have a 4 month old & still have a bunch of weight to lose. I want to look put together without actually trying haha. I did just buy some headbands because I think they help pull a look together. But right now I’m mainly wearing sundresses & some jcrew graphic tees with distressed jeans. It’s so hard to feel cute when you’re 15 lbs above your comfortable weight! The weight is coming off super slowly, but I’m always self-conscious thinking others wonder why I haven’t lost it all yet. I know I need to be kinder to myself. Sorry to ramble–love these types of posts!!
your baby is only 4 months old- you’re doing awesome. i feel like sometimes it takes a little while, especially if you’re breastfeeding. <3 just try to remember that slow and steady is the best way to go for weight loss; so much more sustainable that way
xoxo
no, i need to!
Cute outfits!!!! I have been eyeing a lot from the Everland website (especially their cashmere sweaters…) but have yet to take the plunge. Maybe this winter I will have something good worth celebrating and will buy one?!? Maybe…
I think Loft is a good place for not too fussy/not too old/not too young, and things are always on sale. A lot of their clothes strike me as being very versatileโcan be super casual and more formal depending on what you wear things withโand can be tossed in the washer.
yes, i love loft and often forget about it! they have a lot of cute stuff
Whatโs the link for those Athleta shorts? I tried the โThese onesโ link and it took me to the sandals.
Thanks!!!
sorry about that! here ya go: https://rstyle.me/+MWmvZH7F9pR6gdilIekA-w
they’re on sale right now, too!
Love these posts because your style is so much like my own! And you are right about that in-between stage. I used to find good options at Target, but holy cow they have gone completely junior trendy lately. My best bets are usually Express, Loft and any variation of JCrew!
i agree! it’s like ok target, i don’t want to wear overalls with a crop top ๐
love those stores, too!
