Virtual coffee date
Hi friends! Happy Monday! How was the weekend? I hope you had a great one. I got hit with food poisoning or a 24-hr stomach bug towards the end of last week (the dang worst) but was thankfully on the ups by Saturday afternoon. The rest of the weekend was low-key but relaxing and nice. Iโd love to hear what you were up to.
For todayโs post, I thought it would be fun to catch up with a little virtual coffee date. Grab a cup of something hot, letโs share some pastries and chat a bit.
If we were having coffee right now…
Weโd probably be at our house because Iโd invite you over to meet Maisey. Sheโs seriously the funniest and cutest little thing. I canโt wait until sheโs had all of her shots so we can take her on walks and adventures. We feel like Bella did an amazing job teaching her โthe waysโ the Caro has almost come around to the idea of having a puppy friend again. (They took a nap together the other day and it was adorable.) I feel like weโve really been needing some puppy energy in the house and sheโs been an absolute blastโฆ even though you have to watch her like a hawk at every second. She has destroyed half of Fred (my sad fiddle leaf that was sunburned a couple of years ago and had been recovering beautifullyโฆ until she attacked him), many toilet paper rolls,
and bolts up the stairs every chance she gets. She also loves stealing laundry and trash lol.
Iโd also show you the pool progress. I donโt think I’ve posted this on the blog yet, but weโve been building a pool and itโs almost finished. Itโs been a LONG process – we got on a waiting list over a year ago and finished the paperwork in February – but Iโm so pumped to see how it turns out. If you have any pool furniture or accessories you love, please send them my way! Iโll share pics and some of the things weโve learned in an upcoming post.
Iโd ask you what youโre making for dinner tonight. I always ask friends this question and constantly get new ideas and inspiration from them. Itโs so easy to get stuck in a rut with our weekly rotations, so I love to hear about new family dinner options!
Iโd ask you to come to one of my fitness classes this week. Iโm back in teaching action and while Iโm only subbing right now, it feels SO good to teach in person again. Over the past year, I stared to doubt myself about teaching. Like, โDo I suck? Am I trying to do something Iโm not destined to do?โ because you get limited energy and feedback from a screen (especially if youโre just filming yourself with a tripod). My first dance cardio class back had about 20 people and it.felt.awesome. When everything has been diluted and strange for at least a year, it gave me a reassuring nudge and also made me feel a bit more like myself again.
If we were having coffee right now, Iโd ask you what your kidsโ schools are doing this year. Iโm curious to know what it looks like and how my fellow parent friends are feeling all over the world right now. Liv will go back regardless – she canโt wait to see her teachers and friends – but Iโm waiting to see what the procedures will look like before we decide what to do with P. I bought homeschool materials just in case, but honestly, I never pictured myself being a homeschool mom. I will absolutely rally and find ways to make it fun if thatโs what we decide to do, but Iโm still confused and have less than a month to figure out our plan.
Iโd ask you if you have any end-of-summer plans! Are you going on any trips or anything fun coming up? Weโre headed to Orlando in a bit (canโt wait!!) and Iโm going to plan a pool party for some of the girlsโ friends before the school year starts.
If we were having coffee right now, what would you tell me? Whatโs going on in your life? Any fun summer activities or trips planned?

If we were having coffee right now I’d tell you about our weekend, how nice it was to have a date night. I’d tell you we are having tacos for dinner on a Monday (shocking). I’d tell you I cooked my but off this weekend, doing prep for the week ahead. I’d tell you congratulations on the pool and I hope to see a finished photo soon.
we love tacos, too ๐ i’m happy you had a great date night!!
Yes please write a detailed post on building a pool and lessons learned!!! We are currently reviewing proposals and trying to pull the trigger…soo many options and so expensive so I’m dying to hear someone else’s experience!
yes i absolutely will! it’s been such an interesting process. the crazy thing is that costs continue to go up quickly; ours went up 15% between getting on the wait list and breaking ground.
I would LOVE to see a post about the pool! Especially considerations for people with kids.
yes i will definitely post about that!
Congrats on the pool! So exciting!
We are going hiking at Zion National Park in Utah this fall. Have fun at Disney!
If we were having a coffee date, I’d tell you that Masie is the cutest and I love the antics. I would tell you that our weekend was ridiculously hot, so we really didn’t do much except teach the kids to sort and fold their laundry. I would tell you that I never saw myself as a homeschooling mom, but have been one since 2017 and is not as bad as I expected, I would admit however, that we have enrolled our oldest in traditional school this year and there are lots of mixed feelings… from all of us. And I’m not looking forward to school drop off and pick up. Every day?! Waaaah! I’ve been enormously spoiled with this whole no school drop off thing. I would ask you tips on making school mornings go smoothly.
I’d also congratulate you on your pool! What a great thing to have on hot days!
Glad you’re feeling better!
Target (online) has some fun pool floaties – just bought a kiwi and pineapple one ๐
