Fire burnin’ on the abbies
Hey everyone! Hope your night is going wonderfully 😉
It feels SO BUENO to have jammies on, hair that’s wet from a shower and not sweat, and belly full of this delicious vegan Moroccan stew:
One of my clients brought me two vegan soups to try—Moroccan stew and McAlister’s veggie chili (which I luuuuurve- saving that one for Wednesday night). I usually don’t like to give out names of my clients on the bloggy, so I’m going to nickname this one Tinkerbell. She’s super adorable and fun- and looks like Tinkerbell 😉 So thank you, Tinkerbell, for my delicious dinner 😀 (Want the recipe?? It’s on Cooking Light- right herrrre, and I promise it’s glorious)
She also brought me a baggie of gluten-free multigrain crackers from Sam’s Club, but I snacked on them this afternoon (they never saw the soup) and snagged a pic of one before they were gone 😉
Some of the other eats of the day included:
Salad BEAST
(romaine, bell pepper, tomatoes, crunched up raw bloomin’ onion bread, raw goat cheddar, rice vinegar)
Millet bread + soy free Earth Balance, cinnamon and maca
(x2.. it’s just so good)
I also packed up some bloomin’ onion bread to give to Ashley 😀
Some sleeping pupper pics for ya:
(I love when Bella lifts her head up from a nap and has smushy face)
Pilates was ridiculous (Ashley is an ab killer!) and Zumba was a blasty as usual 😉 I loved warming up to “Bad Romance”.. Gaga rocks my face off. Zumba on Wednesday should be interesting because as of tomorrow, I have to wear my glasses for 5 days. I’m anxious to see how teaching aerobics goes with my glasses—when I get sweaty, they slide off my face! I might just have to put them aside while I teach, and probably dance it up like a crazy monkey since I won’t be able to see anything.. we shall see.
I trained funny quotes lady tonight.. and she had a good one 😉
“Fire Burnin’” by Sean Kingston came on the radio (“somebody call 9-1-1”), and she said, with gusto, “Somebody call 9-1-1. Please! She’s killing me over here”
That’s what reverse crunches on the incline bench will do to ya 😀
Have a great night <3
xoxo,
Gina
Zumba song of the day: “Simarik” by Tarkan (ahhhhmazing for Bellydance)
love bad romance by lady gaga!
Love millet bread! It’s a fave.
Hahahahaha. Funny lady.
I love me some Gaga too. I don’t understand how everyone hates her. Who cares if she dresses a little off? I love it.
Bummer about the eye problems! Dance like a crazy monkey you will!
You make me want a dehydrator more than any other dehydrator users. Seriously all the awesome food you make with it, like the rocking onion bread on your salad, and especially your macaroons! Plus you make it look so easy since you’re always using it!
And for real I’m going to have to try me some of that millet bread!
hahah i will definitely dance like a crazy monkey
using the dehydrator is SUPER easy.. i try to use it every day. i’ll just throw something in there, and the next day it’s waiting for me 😀
Are you getting LASIK? I had it done 6 and a half years ago and it was the best money I’ve ever spent. It was amazing to be able to see he alarm clock in the middle of the night and I’ve saved so much money and hassle on contacts. Anyway, I hope that’s why you’re wearing the glasses 🙂
Also, I’ve been so inspired by the treats that the dehydrator turns out that I’m getting one for Christmas! An Excalibur 5 tray with a timer. Can’t wait!!
so exciting you’re getting a dehydrator!
for now, no, i’m not getting lasik. i know everyone loves it, but i’m just too scared.
I’ve made that stew, and it was great!
I think those are the same crackers I got at our gym’s happy hour tonight. They were gluten free, multi-seed crax. Really yummy!
yes they were perfectly salty and delicious!
ah, sadness about the glasses! i know how you feel though…been there done that, but it was for an entire year when i was a senior in college. bah.
OMG we watched the Bad Romance video in one of my classes today because the class is about gender and the professor wanted to know what young people listen to! It was so hilarious. She just kept staring at the screen with her mouth open!
Reverse crunches on the incline bench – yeah, I think I would need 911 as well.
How sweet of Tinkerbell to bring you vegan soup and crackers. I love thoughtful gifts for no reason. 🙂
Sorry about the glasses. I am blind as well, and have to work out in my glasses once or twice. Not easy. I say dance blind – more fun that way.
Every time I see your millet bread, it makes me want to pour EB, cinnamon, and maca on everything.
Ha! Funny quotes lady must be so much fun!!
I love the millet bread too, it’s a favorite. Are you going GF? I have been GF for years now, so if you have any questions- just ask!
hey m,
i love millet bread! nope, i’m not going gluten-free.. i just found that i like a lot of products that are gf 😀
i don’t want to give up my beloved ezekiel bread or spelt flour cookies
where do you teach zumba? what city do you live in?
I hope you don’t have conjunctivitis — it super sucks. You’ll look so adorable in glasses, though!
its settled.
I NEEEEEED ME SOME REVERSE CRUNCHES ON THE INCLINE.
I shall report back—and if I never do PLEASE send a rescue team.
I ripped a contact once and had to wear my glasses for 2 weeks. I had to teach with them on and it was such a pain. I wrapped one of the thin elastic headbands around them with the microphone so they would stay on!!
Hey Gina, I wear glasses too and if I wear them to zumba they always slide all over the place. One day I wore an elastic headband and put the headband on the ends of my glasses behind my ear, my glasses didn’t move for the whole hour!
that is an EXCELLENT idea! thank you- i’m totally going to do that tomorrow
Did you break up with almond butter?
hahaha most definitely not! i just didn’t eat a lot of it yesterday 🙁
i have 1 T left and i’m saving it until i can make it to the health food store today
Girl, I rock my glasses EVERYday – good luck 🙂
Ahhh, I love the feeling of being clean in comfy clothes, especially when warm soup is added 🙂
That soup looks fab!!!
Can you do a reader’s request on your favorite beginner/intermediate/advanced PT workouts? I know you have some in the workout section, but I would love to know what you focus on at each level!
xo
K
sure, that’s a great idea!
Oh that stew looks wonderful!
Good luck with the glasses! I once had to wear mine on a 13 mile training run…not so much fun, especially because I couldn’t wear my sunglasses while they were on. 🙁
that’s the part i’m bummed about! i ALWAYS wear sunglasses 🙁
it’s been super cloudy lately, so i’m hoping it sticks around
love bad romance!
your doggie pictures are so cute!!
I wear my glasses and workout. No problemo!
My contacts are to expensive to wear on a daily basis, so glasses it is.
I love when my dogs face is all scrunched from napping too!
are you getting lasik?! good luck, i think you’ll love it! if you do 🙂
Hi Gina,
That soup looks sooo good! I found something the other day that made me immediately think of you. ArtiHearts….so meaty and good without, you know, the meat =) http://www.montereyfarmsartichokes.com/nutrition-facts.htm
I found your blog a few days ago and have been reading back over some of the older posts. Congratulations on what you have achieved!!! I piled on a few pounds when I first lived by myself and did no exercise but when I started university I started working out and eating more healthily. I just completed my first half marathon 2 months ago as well and am currently 14kg lighter than I was when I first started trying to get fitter! I am a huge fan of running and Pilates – seem to balance each other perfectly for me. Unfortunately I have zero arm/eye coordination so dancing/aerobics etc. is not so good for me. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and congratulate you on what you have achieved! Find your food regime impressive too – as much as I love healthy food and have porridge with raisins and cinnamon for breakfast most days I am a true foodie and love love love to bake (and eat!) gorgeous cakes (once in a while!). Sophicita
That salad looks amazing! I can’t wait to kick this virus so I can eat again!
I’m trying the breakfast cookie tomorrow…can’t wait! I’ve heard so many awesome things about it 🙂
whoo hoo! please let me know if you like it!
Hey Gina! I know it’s different for everyone, but can you do a reader’s request on how to determine how many calories you should aim for each day factoring in activity level to maintain or to lose?
hey ashley,
i would love to, but since i have many readers who have eating disorders or are recovering from eating disorders, i try not to emphasize calorie counting. i truly believe that if you eat well, and mostly consume whole, unprocessed foods, your body will find a healthy and happy weight.
if you are interested in calorie counting (which there’s nothing wrong with at all, i just try not to focus on it), check out this website:
http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2005/12/26/how_to_calculate_your_daily_calorie_needs.php
one of my trainers gave it to me a couple of years ago and i found the numbers to be pretty accurate.
take care 🙂
How do you make that raw onion bread? Is the recipe from a book? And can you make it without a dehydrator?? Thanks! 🙂
hey nicole,
it’s a tweaked up recipe of one i found online
http://www.rawfreedomcommunity.info/forum/showthread.php?t=112
to make it without a dehydrator, just spread it onto a cookie sheet and bake at the lowest setting of your oven with the door ajar
I saw a Viesa walking past my house today. I’ve never seen a dog like her, she’s so pretty. And of course so is Bella and her sleepy face. Funny quotes lady sounds too funny.
I saw that you run in sunglasses. i CANNOT find a pair that i like for running. they all drive me nuts. what ones do you use?
hahah $19 targizzle special.. i just run in regular big sunglasses, haven’t found a sporty pair i like yet!
Thanks for the website Gina! Also, I was wondering if you would mind doing a post of your favorite and most effective ab exercises? Thanks!
sure! 😀
