Friendly Reminders
Hey everyone!!!
Wow. Thank you so much for all of you wonderful comments, thoughts and prayers regarding the puppy drama <3
I loved reading your comments โwhich made me feel so much better- and just wanted to say thank you for your friendly reminders that:
- Many of you have been in similar situations or at least know what itโs like to love a fur baby as your own child
- Iโm not a robot and you guys donโt expect me to act like one
- Youโre all amazing and Iโm so lucky to have you all for bloggy friendsโฆ but I knew that already ๐
Little Vieserton is back to her normal Shiba self.
We took her to the vet, who said that it may be one of her quirks when she gets sick as nausea can provoke seizures in dogs. (Many other things can provoke seizures including stress or anxiety). Vies always acts a little weird right before she gets sick, but last night was by far the worst itโs ever been. The vet said not to think too much of it, as it can randomly occur, and if it happens again to bring her back so they can run tests. For now, she got an anti-nausea injection (and screamed like the dickens) and some meds. Iโm just glad sheโs ok *sigh of relief*
This afternoon, I found comfort in a giant organic sweet potato with goat cheese and chipotle seasoning and roasted brussel sprouts.
Goat cheese and sweet potato are a match made in sweet and savory heaven ๐
I went in to train a client and put notice in at the gym (today has been a whirlwind, I tell ya). Iโm going to go back to being a contracted trainer โnot employed by the gym- at the beginning of April so Iโll have time to focus on my new job which Iโll reveal on Friday. It made me sad to put notice in, because I love everyone at the gym, but Iโll still see them around. Iโm really ridiculously stoked for my latest endeavor ๐
Hereโs another hint:

Off to pilates and ZUMBA! Iโll bring Flip with me ๐
Have a great night <3
xoxo,
Gina
Todayโs tip: Change up the speed of your weight lifting routine to challenge your muscles in a different way. For example, instead of performing the โgruntโ (hardest part) of the exercise at the same speed as the return, change it up. Like for bicep curls, instead of dropping and lowering the weights at a steady pace, try lowering the weight for 2 seconds and bringing it back up for 1, or vise versa. Remember change create change and anything we can do to keep cruise control from kicking in is a good thing.
PS- If you have any Readerโs Request post ideas, please send them my wayโa RR post will be up tomorrow ๐
Oh man the sweet potato with goat cheese is screaming my name. Heather!!! Heather!!!! lol
OMG you’re going to be opening your own raw take-out restaurant, right?
I am sorry about your recent doggie drama; that must have been really worrisome. I’m glad she seems to be OK though.
I have to tell you that you inspired me to take a class at my gym yesterday, something I have never done. I thought to myself, if Gina was teaching it, I’d definitely go, and then thought, why not go anyway? And it was a great experience (I didn’t feel like a dork as I had feared) and it was a great workout (I’m sore today). Thanks for inspiring me!
i’m so glad you did it!!! ๐
I read this post a few hours ago and could not wait to get home to make dinner. I’ve never thought to put goat cheese on sweet potatoes (and I had both in my kitchen), but holy moly, it’s AMAZING!!!!
Thank you so much!
glad i could share the wealth ๐
YUMM that meal looks insanely good…ok what kind of goat cheese do you eat?!?!?!?!?
that right there is chevre, but i also love goat gouda and goat jack cheese
Starting your own raw food business?? If you are I hope you will start a web based one, because I would so order from you!!!
Ohhhh, please tell me you are opening a raw bakery that delivers to Alabama ๐
Are you going to work at The Main Squeeze? Hm..
Your fur baby is too cute!!!
And sweet potatoes and goat cheese..omg..that sounds amaazing!
Just caught up on the puppy drama–So sorry! But I am glad that your sweet baby is okay ๐
And I agree with everyone, you should share your life as much or as little as you like. The ups and the downs you share with us make you human and for me, it’s nice to be able to relate to others.
i hope you’re starting a raw restaurant/bakery/takeout! glad the pupsters ok!
I never thought of Goat cheese and sweet potato, but now I will have to try it! Yum!
I got it!! You’re doing a personal chef thing!!!
Foodgasm Bakery! You’re going to make raw desserts! I just know it! ๐ I second the vote for online ordering.
Also, I have tried to like goat cheese. I bought the classic chevre, tried one bite, and threw it away. You should do a post for goat cheese virgins sometime!
So glad your puppy is feeling better.
YUMMMMMMM ๐ ๐ ๐ Loooooooove sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts!!!
RAW FOOD DELIVERY SERVICEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Glad your pupper is better!
I did your WSU today and it was great! Made a few adjustments and added some abbies but it was fun! thanks for the workout ideas! ๐
I’m glad Viesa is ok again!! I would also freak out for sure.
Oh I can’t wait until you reveal your latest endeavor ๐ You will be a raw cooking chief…yes? ๐
I’m so glad your doggy is ok! My guess for your new job is some kind of raw baking and if it is I really hope it’s online!
I go with raw bakery as well! I have a question for you though… I’m good about stretching after runs (I’m training for a marathon), but I keep getting tightness on the direct outside of my knee the next day, hurting especially going up and down stairs. It generally happens more when I’ve been on the treadmill regardless of miles and less when I run on the road (even if it’s a 10+ mi day) because I know my gait is totally different in each instance. I have been told it’s probably my IT band and used to see an orthopedist who told me to just ice it and pool run when it acts up, but are there any good exercises for stretching out your IT band? I’m trying to strengthen my hip flexors as well, but can’t find any specific IT stretches, although I have heard talk of a foam roller, I just don’t know what it is. Thanks Gina!!
the foam roller will change your life!

i used to have bad it band pain and since i started using the foam roller, it’s basically gone ๐
I am still waiting on the Bad Romance clip. Gaga…ooh la laaaaaaa!!! ๐
Ooooh! I can’t wait to hear what you’ve got in store for us on Friday. Good luck on your new endeavor!
Holy hec your sweet potato and brussel sprout lunch looks DIVINE! I’ve never even thought to put goat cheese on a sweet potato. I’ve always put some butta and cinnamon. I’m definitely gonna have to give that a try!
I know this is going to sound like a moron question..but how do you cook your sweet potatoes? Mine always seem to be hard in the middle and really soft on the outside. I can never get it right. Can you help? ๐ Thank yooou!
So glad to hear Viesa is doing better ๐ I’m sure that’s a huge relief!
hey laura,
i bake them at 375 for a half hour, turn them over and bake for another half hour. they come out perfectly ๐
Ok so the surprise is restaurant related.
Am I going to be able to buy your macaroons now?
It’s definitely worth the drive from Chicago!
;p
I’m going to guess raw food catering business/personal chef business!
Best of luck with your new endeavor. Glad to hear your pup is doing ok. You’ll get to the bottom of it soon if there is anything going on, I’m sure.
Are you sure you are not eating a yam? Sweet potatoes are not that orange they are more white?
Thanks for this blog. I like what I read. I wish more blogs were like this. Thank you.
