Friendly Reminders

Hey everyone!!!

Wow. Thank you so much for all of you wonderful comments, thoughts and prayers regarding the puppy drama <3

I loved reading your comments โ€“which made me feel so much better- and just wanted to say thank you for your friendly reminders that:

  1. Many of you have been in similar situations or at least know what itโ€™s like to love a fur baby as your own child
  2. Iโ€™m not a robot and you guys donโ€™t expect me to act like one
  3. Youโ€™re all amazing and Iโ€™m so lucky to have you all for bloggy friendsโ€ฆ but I knew that already ๐Ÿ˜‰

Little Vieserton is back to her normal Shiba self.

vies

We took her to the vet, who said that it may be one of her quirks when she gets sick as nausea can provoke seizures in dogs. (Many other things can provoke seizures including stress or anxiety). Vies always acts a little weird right before she gets sick, but last night was by far the worst itโ€™s ever been. The vet said not to think too much of it, as it can randomly occur, and if it happens again to bring her back so they can run tests. For now, she got an anti-nausea injection (and screamed like the dickens) and some meds. Iโ€™m just glad sheโ€™s ok *sigh of relief*

This afternoon, I found comfort in a giant organic sweet potato with goat cheese and chipotle seasoning and roasted brussel sprouts.

Goat cheese and sweet potato are a match made in sweet and savory heaven ๐Ÿ˜€

I went in to train a client and put notice in at the gym (today has been a whirlwind, I tell ya). Iโ€™m going to go back to being a contracted trainer โ€“not employed by the gym- at the beginning of April so Iโ€™ll have time to focus on my new job which Iโ€™ll reveal on Friday. It made me sad to put notice in, because I love everyone at the gym, but Iโ€™ll still see them around. Iโ€™m really ridiculously stoked for my latest endeavor ๐Ÿ˜€

Off to pilates and ZUMBA! Iโ€™ll bring Flip with me ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great night <3

Todayโ€™s tip: Change up the speed of your weight lifting routine to challenge your muscles in a different way. For example, instead of performing the โ€œgruntโ€ (hardest part) of the exercise at the same speed as the return, change it up. Like for bicep curls, instead of dropping and lowering the weights at a steady pace, try lowering the weight for 2 seconds and bringing it back up for 1, or vise versa. Remember change create change and anything we can do to keep cruise control from kicking in is a good thing.

PS- If you have any Readerโ€™s Request post ideas, please send them my wayโ€”a RR post will be up tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜€

OMG you’re going to be opening your own raw take-out restaurant, right?

I am sorry about your recent doggie drama; that must have been really worrisome. I’m glad she seems to be OK though.

I have to tell you that you inspired me to take a class at my gym yesterday, something I have never done. I thought to myself, if Gina was teaching it, I’d definitely go, and then thought, why not go anyway? And it was a great experience (I didn’t feel like a dork as I had feared) and it was a great workout (I’m sore today). Thanks for inspiring me!

Just caught up on the puppy drama–So sorry! But I am glad that your sweet baby is okay ๐Ÿ™‚

And I agree with everyone, you should share your life as much or as little as you like. The ups and the downs you share with us make you human and for me, it’s nice to be able to relate to others.

  13. Charlie @ CharlieGirl Blog on February 10, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Foodgasm Bakery! You’re going to make raw desserts! I just know it! ๐Ÿ™‚ I second the vote for online ordering.

Also, I have tried to like goat cheese. I bought the classic chevre, tried one bite, and threw it away. You should do a post for goat cheese virgins sometime!

So glad your puppy is feeling better.

I’m so glad your doggy is ok! My guess for your new job is some kind of raw baking and if it is I really hope it’s online!

  19. Catherine on February 11, 2010 at 9:22 am

I go with raw bakery as well! I have a question for you though… I’m good about stretching after runs (I’m training for a marathon), but I keep getting tightness on the direct outside of my knee the next day, hurting especially going up and down stairs. It generally happens more when I’ve been on the treadmill regardless of miles and less when I run on the road (even if it’s a 10+ mi day) because I know my gait is totally different in each instance. I have been told it’s probably my IT band and used to see an orthopedist who told me to just ice it and pool run when it acts up, but are there any good exercises for stretching out your IT band? I’m trying to strengthen my hip flexors as well, but can’t find any specific IT stretches, although I have heard talk of a foam roller, I just don’t know what it is. Thanks Gina!!

  22. Laura J. on February 11, 2010 at 10:35 am

Holy hec your sweet potato and brussel sprout lunch looks DIVINE! I’ve never even thought to put goat cheese on a sweet potato. I’ve always put some butta and cinnamon. I’m definitely gonna have to give that a try!

I know this is going to sound like a moron question..but how do you cook your sweet potatoes? Mine always seem to be hard in the middle and really soft on the outside. I can never get it right. Can you help? ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank yooou!

So glad to hear Viesa is doing better ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m sure that’s a huge relief!

    • Fitnessista on February 11, 2010 at 12:07 pm

Ok so the surprise is restaurant related.

Am I going to be able to buy your macaroons now?

It’s definitely worth the drive from Chicago!
