Friendly Reminders

Hey everyone!!!

Wow. Thank you so much for all of you wonderful comments, thoughts and prayers regarding the puppy drama <3

I loved reading your comments –which made me feel so much better- and just wanted to say thank you for your friendly reminders that:

  1. Many of you have been in similar situations or at least know what it’s like to love a fur baby as your own child
  2. I’m not a robot and you guys don’t expect me to act like one
  3. You’re all amazing and I’m so lucky to have you all for bloggy friends… but I knew that already 😉

Little Vieserton is back to her normal Shiba self.

vies

We took her to the vet, who said that it may be one of her quirks when she gets sick as nausea can provoke seizures in dogs. (Many other things can provoke seizures including stress or anxiety). Vies always acts a little weird right before she gets sick, but last night was by far the worst it’s ever been. The vet said not to think too much of it, as it can randomly occur, and if it happens again to bring her back so they can run tests. For now, she got an anti-nausea injection (and screamed like the dickens) and some meds. I’m just glad she’s ok *sigh of relief*

This afternoon, I found comfort in a giant organic sweet potato with goat cheese and chipotle seasoning and roasted brussel sprouts.

 potater

Goat cheese and sweet potato are a match made in sweet and savory heaven 😀

I went in to train a client and put notice in at the gym (today has been a whirlwind, I tell ya). I’m going to go back to being a contracted trainer –not employed by the gym- at the beginning of April so I’ll have time to focus on my new job which I’ll reveal on Friday. It made me sad to put notice in, because I love everyone at the gym, but I’ll still see them around. I’m really ridiculously stoked for my latest endeavor 😀

Here’s another hint:

Hint 1

Hint 2

Hint 3

😉

Off to pilates and ZUMBA! I’ll bring Flip with me 🙂

Have a great night <3

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s tip: Change up the speed of your weight lifting routine to challenge your muscles in a different way. For example, instead of performing the “grunt” (hardest part) of the exercise at the same speed as the return, change it up. Like for bicep curls, instead of dropping and lowering the weights at a steady pace, try lowering the weight for 2 seconds and bringing it back up for 1, or vise versa. Remember change create change and anything we can do to keep cruise control from kicking in is a good thing.

PS- If you have any Reader’s Request post ideas, please send them my way—a RR post will be up tomorrow 😀

    Glad Viesa is ok! 🙂

  2. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on February 10, 2010 at 4:16 pm

AHHHHH it HAS to be a bakery! Please sell goodies online!! 🙂

  3. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on February 10, 2010 at 4:16 pm

I think you should do a reader’s request post on the benefits of not eating meat/being a vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian. My hubby and I have been talking a lot about it and wondering. I personally love how you promote doing what is right for yourself and don’t push any type of lifestyle/diet. Glad your doggy is feeling better!

  4. Andrea of Care to Eat on February 10, 2010 at 4:17 pm

You’re totally opening a raw bakery. Which, if true, will suck for us because A – we don’t live in Valdosta. And B – you’ll probably stop posting recipes on your blog. I just bought a dehydrator! What am I going to do now?!
SOOOOOOO happy Viesa is ok – when my little Winston was sick I was terrified of him getting seizures like they expected him to. He never had one, and I can’t imagine what it was like for you to witness Viesa having one.
I wouldn’t call you a robot – more like the human version of a fem-bot.

  5. Heather (Heather's Dish) on February 10, 2010 at 4:18 pm

i’m so glad she’s ok too…that’s so hard! sad that you put in your notice at the gym, but i bet your clients will stick with ya and i can’t wait to learn what the new job is 🙂

  6. Lauren @ Eat, Drink, and Be Hopeful on February 10, 2010 at 4:18 pm

I love goat cheese, but I’ve never tried it on a sweet potato. Sounds delish. I think you are going to be selling your goodies online. Or at least I hope so!

  7. Lauren @ Eater not a runner on February 10, 2010 at 4:18 pm

Glad everything is ok! And of course we all have bad days!

So excited to hear the news….I have a few ideas 😉

  8. Susan on February 10, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Gina, it looks like my last guess was wrong, I’m guessing you’re going to be opening a raw food store or selling cookies or healthy food or something health related? Best of luck with it all, you deserve it. Glad Viesa is okay.

  9. Jenna on February 10, 2010 at 4:19 pm

AHHHHH. It has to be either you opening a bakery or you working in a bakery. A raw bakery that is! Can’t wait to hear the news!

  10. Katie@ Two Lives, One Lifestyle on February 10, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Aw so glad your baby is okay! I am going to definitely guess you are opening a restaurant or food store of some sort based on the take-out looking box.

  11. Dotsie on February 10, 2010 at 4:22 pm

YAY, glad to hear Viesa is OK! 😀

  12. LC @ Let Them Eat Lentils on February 10, 2010 at 4:27 pm

Hm, I still think you’re selling your raw goodies to other stores in the area, but COULD BE that you’re opening one. Either direction sounds very exciting!

  13. Meghan @ Spreading the Health on February 10, 2010 at 4:27 pm

    You’re totally opening a raw bakery. 🙂

  14. Shayna on February 10, 2010 at 4:33 pm

I’d love a readers request post on how to dodge over training. I’ve been struggling with it lately and would love your advice!

So glad you received good news from the vet!

check this out– how funny that you were just talking about this about a week ago or so?
I think you are renting a space for your fitness classes and healthy foods/juices. If this is true- dang- someone move me there now!

    • Fitnessista on February 10, 2010 at 5:21 pm

      that’s CRAZY!

  16. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on February 10, 2010 at 4:34 pm

Glad Viesa is okay!! That huge tater looks delicious…wish I had one to cook now!

Please tell me it’s a raw bakery?! If so, I might have to come down to Valdizzy just to try it!!

  17. Jessie on February 10, 2010 at 4:36 pm

Hey I commented this a few posts back but wasnt sure if you got it..so I’m just posting it again. If you had I’m sorry I dont mean to be a pain!

I was wondering what your thoughts were on Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder. I bought some yesterday in order to help me gain more weight, but arent too informed on whey protein powders.
I typically workout most days of the week (both cardio and STing), should I take it on days that I dont work out as well in order to gain weight since that is my main goal?
And is it ok to take more than once a day if I’m not a serious athlete or muscle builder?

    • Fitnessista on February 10, 2010 at 5:21 pm

      hey girl,
i thought i answered this one.. or at least thought of the answer in my head. sorry!
it’s great to take after work outs but i always try to get protein from actual food instead of a powder form- so maybe limit to once a day??

      • Jessie on February 10, 2010 at 6:54 pm

        ok, thanks =)
is it ok to take on days even when I dont workout?

  18. Kelly on February 10, 2010 at 4:40 pm

I think you are opening up some kind of food shop like a bakery of some sort!!

I’m glad Viesa is ok!! Hope nothing else weird happens!

For reader’s request what about a workout clothing fashion show? ie showing what types of workout clothing/brands you like to wear for specific types of fitness?

  19. Katy ( The Balanced Foodie ) on February 10, 2010 at 4:44 pm

My guess: you’re starting your own raw bakery! 🙂 Or something like it..

Glad the pups is okay. I am dog sitting for my sister and I am so attached to him already, it’s like a child or a family member! It would freak me out if anything wrong happened to him. Plus, I completely agree with everyone’s sentiment. I would NEVER want you to hold back your emotions! You are still uplifting even when things are hard and crazy and we have your back!

  20. Jodie on February 10, 2010 at 4:44 pm

You will be making and baking raw foods.

  21. Joelle (The Pancake Girl) on February 10, 2010 at 4:46 pm

  23. rachael on February 10, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Glad your dog is okay:) Your lunch is making me seriously crave goat cheese . . .

My guess to your new job is an expansion of your client lunches- raw food delivered?

    • Lindsey512 on February 10, 2010 at 5:16 pm

This is what I think it is too!

  24. Julie on February 10, 2010 at 4:50 pm

So glad Viesa is A-OK. So scary when that happens.
I agree with the others in that you’re opening a raw bakery!!

  26. Lily @ Lily's Health Pad on February 10, 2010 at 4:54 pm

    Hey Gina!

For a RR post, I would like to see your top 10 snacks and go-to meals when you have next-to-no time on your hands!

As a high raw/vegan college student, this would totally help me out! So happy to see Viesa back to norm!

    Love,
    Heather

  29. Jenn @ Livewellfit on February 10, 2010 at 5:01 pm

I’m similar to many of the other comments: either starting your own bakery or you have been offered a position to be a sous dessert chef or something of the like. 🙂

What exciting adventures! There are so many cool things going on in the blogsphere right now!

  30. K on February 10, 2010 at 5:08 pm

I’m glad your little baby is going to be okay! I’m super excited because Monday is my first Zumba class – YAY!!

    glad you’re feeling better.

you’re going to … make raw chinese food? haha i don’t know.

  32. kt F on February 10, 2010 at 5:13 pm

That sweet potato/brussels sprouts combo looks amazing! I was stalling making lunch bc I didn’t know what to have, but you inspired me, hehe. Sweet potato and sprouts are now in the oven 🙂
I think you’re opening a bakery too, or at least selling your food at one!! Excited to find out!

  33. s on February 10, 2010 at 5:20 pm

oh snap, meant to also say glad viesa’s feeling better too.

  35. Kristilyn (My 29th Year) on February 10, 2010 at 5:37 pm

Glad Viesa is doing better! What could the surprise be? I’m going to say some kind of raw bakery or something … or someone who delivers food to your house? Like, raw food …

So will you not be teaching Zumba or anything anymore, or is it just the personal training you’re not doing at the gym?

    K

    • Fitnessista on February 10, 2010 at 7:44 pm

i’ll still be teaching zumba, just not personal training as much

  36. Amy on February 10, 2010 at 5:39 pm

OMG! I know what to have after I work out today. I have some leftover brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. Yum!

  37. Melissa (Melissa Likes To Eat) on February 10, 2010 at 5:52 pm

So glad Viesa is doing better. Poor puppy! I think you’re going to start food delivery like you’ve been doing for your clients….but I really want it to be a raw bakery where you can order online and send things to me in San Diego! 🙂

  38. Roro on February 10, 2010 at 5:54 pm

Man the day I don’t show up to Zumba you are taping!!! =/ Have Fun Glad to hear the pup is doing well!!!

  39. sandy on February 10, 2010 at 5:55 pm

    glad puppy is okay!

my guess: you will be unbaking your macaroons for Atlanta bread bakery for orders to go!

  40. Kendall @ Whisk Her Away on February 10, 2010 at 5:55 pm

Bahahaha because of ‘Hint 3’ I googled Zaxby’s thinking “I’ve never heard of this joint – could Gina be a Raw Chef at Zaxby’s.” Fail. Fried food galore. Definitely not hitting up a Zaxby’s anytime soon.

I think you’re opening up a raw food personal chef style catering service, but that’s just my two cents. 🙂

  41. Sarah R on February 10, 2010 at 6:19 pm

I’m just catching up on you puppy drama… so glad that she’s ok. I’m sure it was so so scary. I can’t imagine what I would do if that happened to either of my pooches.

  42. Molly @thevegandorm on February 10, 2010 at 6:21 pm

I can’t wait to find out your secret!

  43. Jackie (Army Wife) on February 10, 2010 at 6:29 pm

For a reader’s request: What’s on your book shelves? Or what are your most inspiring/favorite books of all time? And what is your “dream” post to be stationed at? Mine is Hawaii because well, it’s Hawaii!

      awesome! thank you 😀

  44. Island Girl Eats on February 10, 2010 at 6:35 pm

So glad to hear that Viesa is doing better. It is so nerve wracking when our little guys aren’t well – they can’t tell us what’s wrong and that makes it even worse.

  45. Lisa on February 10, 2010 at 7:02 pm

I’m glad Viezzy is better she’s so cute! Thanks for your blog and inspirations.

  46. Elise on February 10, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Wow! I eat meat and lots of it but that picture of the sweet potato with the goat cheese and roast brussel sprouts “rocked my face off” =) I can’t wait ’til tomorrow so I can fix it for myself!

BTW – from the looks of hint #3 I think you’re opening a taco stand 😉

    • Fitnessista on February 10, 2010 at 7:42 pm

bahaha i wish- a taco stand would be awesome!

  47. Leah on February 10, 2010 at 7:28 pm

    Sending your pup recovery wishes!

  49. Kelley on February 10, 2010 at 8:19 pm

I’d like to learn more about your quasitarian eating and the rationale behind it. Can you explain what the benefit is of eating goat cheese (versus no cheese or cow cheese)? Also (and I believe you’ve covered this topic before) how do you deal with people questioning your food choices? Esp. when you can’t just say: I’m a vegetarian, I’m a vegan…..

Thanks! Love your blog – I have learned so much from it! 🙂

  50. amber on February 10, 2010 at 8:25 pm

im glad your pupper is feeling better 🙂
for a reader’s request..i would LOVE to hear what you think about other fitness programs (like p90x, insanity, etc). i just moved into my fiance’s house and he lives 2 hours away from my gym, in a neighborhood a bit tooo shady for jogging, and a house tooo small for any gym equipment (remind me why im here..oh yeah, we’re in luuuuv 😉
i loved reading your opinion on jillian michaels so im interested in what you think of other exercise programs and if you have any dvd recommendations.
