Hey everyone! HAPPY FRIDAY!

I’ve got a seriously amazing giveaway to kick off the weekend….

Remember this cookbook that I got (and have been experimenting with a little this week)??

011

I talked to Sarma, founder of One Lucky Duck and co-founder Pure Food and Wine, and she has graciously offered a Fitnessista reader a signed copy of her new cookbook!!!

This cookbook is outta control amazing. The recipes are easy to follow, don’t require a ton of obscure ingredients or fancy schmancy equipment and demonstrate that raw food doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful and delicious. It also includes a boatload of information on nutrition and the raw lifestyle, yet reads like an email from a good friend. I read the book in it’s entirety within 2 days.

It’s also a feast for the eyes with stunning photos…

Recipes for juices….

013

Salads, soups, snacks and impressive entrees….

014

Cocktails and desserts….

015

Are ya sold yet??? 😀

Here’s how you can get 2 chances to win this beautiful cookbook:

  1. Leave a comment stating why you’d like to win this cookbook and/or what you’d like to make first if you win
  2. Link back to this post on your blog and send me an email (fitnessista at gmail dot com) with the link to your post. If you don’t have a blog, no worries, just send me an email and I’ll get your extra entry in

I’ll post the winner at 8am EST on Monday, July 13th

***************EDITED TO SAY: This giveaway has ended as of 7/13/09 0800.

See ya after lunch and work 😉

xoxo,

OMG WHAT A GREAT GREAT GIVEAWAY!!!

I would love to have this book. I've been trying to eat 'mostly raw' every day, but it's so hard to do without any guidance. My husband HAS asked me recently 'so what do you think of us trying the all raw diet'? OK, OMG- seriously?! He's a die hard meat and potatoes kind of guy… this book would certainly help! I'm looking for easy 'main course' ideas, so I'd probably start there!! What a great chance to win! THANKS!

  2. Lora on July 10, 2009 at 12:20 pm

I would absolutely love to win this cookbook because for me, a college student, cooking raw and vegan is muy dificil! I relly need help in the creativity department 🙂

I would love to win this book, I am obsessed with one Lucky Duck products. That dessert with the chocolate and coconut you have pictured is what I would make first and then work my way through the salads and smoothies, but dessert is definately where I will start!

  5. Janie on July 10, 2009 at 12:31 pm

Hey Gina! I would love to win this book. I've been drooling over your salads and pasta's since you got your copy. I don't know what I would make first, but probably one of the salads. I'm always looking for new ideas to change up my salads:)

  6. Jamie Z. on July 10, 2009 at 12:40 pm

  8. leadingladylis on July 10, 2009 at 12:52 pm

Mmmmmmm, I love raw desserts! I'm not very familiar with this cookbook, but I'd like to make something chocolate/caroby for my Mother. She is newly gluten intolerant and interested in trying raw versions of some of her old favorites.

  9. Julie on July 10, 2009 at 12:53 pm

I've been vegan for a looong time and have recently become more and more intrigued by raw food preparation. I'd love to have this book as part of my repertoire. Thanks!

  13. Roxane G. on July 10, 2009 at 1:24 pm

I had never considered raw or even vegan eating prior to reading your blog but all of your pictures and descriptions have me intrigued! Especially if the cookbook doesn't require lots of fancy gadgets, I'd love to experiment with the style of preparing meals.

PS: I tried the frozen banana trick last night and I'm totally HOOKED!

  14. eatingtolivelovelaughtri on July 10, 2009 at 1:27 pm

I'm definitely going to be following along your blog!

  21. Jessica on July 10, 2009 at 1:44 pm

I'd love to win this cookbook. I have really tried to clean up my eating habits, and have been working on incorporating more "raw" foods into my day. I have been eating lots of salads, and recently started juicing in the mornings. Having more options would be awesome 🙂

  22. Joane on July 10, 2009 at 1:48 pm

I'd love to try to make one of those desserts. That picture you have there looks yummy!

  23. Blythe on July 10, 2009 at 1:49 pm

    Hi Gina!

As a military wife to be I have been learning how to eat healthy and find organic, clean, raw foods while living in San Antonio–a city not known for its' healthy habits! As I anxiously wait for my juicer and food processor to come from our wedding registry, this cookbook would really be put to use in our house. Great giveaway! Hope I win! 🙂

  24. Haley on July 10, 2009 at 1:52 pm

I Would love to try this raw revolution. I'm starting grad school next month, and moving to a new state to live by myself for the first time. I could really use a fun, healthy guide on what to "cook up" in this new chapter of my life.

    Thanks!

  25. MarathonVal on July 10, 2009 at 2:09 pm

I would love to win this cookbook more than ANYTHIN!!! Honestly this is the first giveaway that I have truly wanted to win very, very badly 🙂

I very, very recently got into the raw scene and, while I am very enthused about this lifestyle and looking forward to trying new recipes, at the present time I am having a hard time feeling challenged by not knowing what to make that does not go against the "food combining" laws. The recipes you have tried from her cookbook look FABULOUS!!!

I made a posting on my blog immediately linking back to your giveaway!

Thanks for the fabulous giveaway, I wish we could all win! 🙂

  26. Amelia (AC/DC: Highways to Health) on July 10, 2009 at 2:16 pm

Great giveaway! I've heard such great things about Sarma's cookbooks and I'm a fan of One Lucky Duck, so I'd love to try out some of her recipes.
For the first dish, I'd want to make one of the entrees. I've never made an all raw main course, so I'd like to challenge myself with that!

  27. Arica on July 10, 2009 at 2:18 pm

I recently found out I have a Uterine fibroid. I have to have it surgerically removed on August
3rd. Although I am an advocate and avid practicer of an all around healthy lifestlye, I believe that un-healthy habits could have contributed to the growth of this fibroid. Once it is removed I have a 50% chance that it will grow back, and will most likely face struggles with fertility. I am 22 and engaged, and desire to develop even greater habits such as eating raw to lead myself and my future husband to a long, happy, prosperous, and healthy life.
For this reason, I would LOVE to win this cookbook!!

  28. Randi on July 10, 2009 at 2:22 pm

    Hello Gina,

First off, I love your blog and look forward to reading it everyday. My husband and I just moved to Alaska for his job. I am very far from my family and friends (they all live in Texas) and I need something new and exciting in my life. This cookbook would be great as I have started dabbling in the raw food lifestyle. All your culinary creations have me intrigued. As well as Sarma's oneluckyduck store and blog. What an awesome give away! You rock!

  29. Dori on July 10, 2009 at 2:22 pm

I want to win so I can learn some new juice recipes!

  30. Liz C. on July 10, 2009 at 2:24 pm

I was looking at Sarma's website the other day, and I love that she is enthusiastic but not preachy about eating raw. I'd absolutely love for this cookbook to help me dip my toe into raw eating (maybe I should say fork instead?). Plus your giveaway is on my birthday! It's a sign, right?

  31. Lori on July 10, 2009 at 2:26 pm

Awesome contest. I am trying to learn more about nutrition and live a healthier lifestyle….and I am trying to convert my hubby as well. I love that the book is an easy read!

    Thanks!

  32. Special K on July 10, 2009 at 2:29 pm

Alright, I am down…What I would make is a raw entree first. In fact, I would throw a raw food potluck in honor of you and document it all on my website…

Did you check out my RAW food giveaway?

  33. Legally Fabulous on July 10, 2009 at 2:29 pm

Other than fruits and veggies, I'm totally clueless about the "raw" diet. I'd love to learn more!

  34. Junghwa on July 10, 2009 at 2:35 pm

  36. Kilee on July 10, 2009 at 2:36 pm

First off, I L O V E your blog!!! I am very impressed with your delicious raw recipes and would love an opportunity to try new ones from Sarma's book. Thank you for giving us this opportunity. I look forward to your blog posts each day. Have a great day!

  37. blueskyworld on July 10, 2009 at 2:36 pm

i'd love to win this because i want to incorporate more raw food. although i eat 75% rawde

  38. Sky Says on July 10, 2009 at 2:43 pm

I know know what kind of salad witchery is in that second picture, but it looks so delicious, I would be all over that, first thing. That is such food porn, if someone put that in front of me, I would eat first, as questions later.

As for why I should win? Well, there are a lot of deserving people out there who aren't as far long on their journey. But, I have an email group where I am the healthy/nutrition guru, and I've been pushing people rawer and rawer, so having another delicious, beautiful gun in my arsenal wouldn't just help me, it would help the ladies I mentor.

  39. Ashley on July 10, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I would love to win this cookbook because I'm trying to eat more raw. I would def. have to try one of her beautiful salads first.

  40. mama on July 10, 2009 at 2:51 pm

i want to cook raw for my husband, he has such bad GI issues i think this would really help him! Any of the salads look awesome!

  41. justine on July 10, 2009 at 3:03 pm

    ~Justine

P.S. I linked back to the giveaway on my blog.

  42. happygoluckyalex on July 10, 2009 at 3:11 pm

I would love this cookbook because I have been experimenting with this whole "raw" deal for quite awhile, but haven't gotten it down yet. I am ready to make the plunge though!
First thing I would make? A dinner- I think that is the next step to becoming a raw foodie!

  43. Molly, mollys091@hotmail.com on July 10, 2009 at 3:14 pm

I would love this cookbook! I'm currently a vegetarian and have been looking to take a few steps towards raw veganism (but as an athlete, I don't know think it'd be wise to be 100% raw vegan). This cookbook sounds like it would be the perfect push in teh right direction!!!!

  44. heyitstay on July 10, 2009 at 3:16 pm

Oh yay!! I'd love to win it because I've been very curious about reading about raw diets for multiple reasons (digestive/bloating problems is one). And this would be perfect! I'd probably make a raw cookie first, knowing me 🙂

  45. Barbara W on July 10, 2009 at 3:21 pm

What a cool give-away! I have been gluten-free for 2 years, dairy-free for 6 months, and I figured what the heck – why not just be a vegetarian!? I am learning as much as I can to keep a fun and varied diet while getting the proper nutrients. This book looks like it would be just the thing to help!

I would like to try one of the juices first… my concoctions are getting a little boring.

  46. Leslie Elizabeth on July 10, 2009 at 3:24 pm

i would love to win this. i love trying new recipies and making new fun healthy dishes. i would totally start by trying out the desserts. i have such a sweet tooth!

  47. Kelli on July 10, 2009 at 3:25 pm

I just found your site through HEAB, and have a lot of catching up to do! I would love the book because I love healthy recipes that actually taste good, and I would love to not turn on the stove this summer! Who wouldn't want to look like Sarma, or you!
    Kelli

  48. chasingblue on July 10, 2009 at 3:32 pm

I would love a new cookbook!

I'm in the mood for some new lunches for the kids and myself!

  49. maggie b on July 10, 2009 at 3:38 pm

I really want this book b/c…
a.) COoking is one of my biggest passions, yet i don't have ANY cookbooks yet!
b.) I am a vegan and need more ideas!
c.) I am 80% raw and need more ideas than just raw veggies with hummus or avocado!

  50. Katherine on July 10, 2009 at 4:12 pm

I would love to win this cookbook because I have heard so much about the benefits of eating a high-raw diet but am afraid that I would get bored of it without a lot of creative recipe ideas!
