Cheese Allowance + Fashion Friday

Hi guys! Happy FASHION FRIDAY 😀 Hope you’re having a fabulous day <3

We didn’t end up watching Princess Bride last night since the Pilot and I had to wake up early, but hopefully we will tonight! I’m even more excited to see it after reading your comments.

B-fast this morning was in two parts:

Part 1 (before teaching bootcamp)

millet

Millet with almond butter, apricot preserves and 1/2 a banana

Part 2 (after teaching)

egg

Egg-stada with 3 egg whites, goat gouda and Texas Pete

Every week, I have a cheese splurge when I go grocery shopping. I usually roll with goat gouda (which I LOVE and we don’t have raw goat cheddar in Valdizzy), but since it’s so pricey, I consider it my cheese allowance 😉

Speaking of allowance…

It’s FASHION FRIIIIIIDAY!

Something I’m loving:

Exposed zippers 😀

You can find them EVERYWHERE right now, including

dresses

Are you rocking the exposed zipper trend this season??

Well I’m off to walk the puppers and then get to work!

Have a wonderful day <3

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s tip: Next time you’re iron pumping, try to alternate the *cadence* of your reps– try going down for one count, up for three. Then down two, up two and down one, up one. Anything you can do to change things up is a good thing 🙂 Remember *change creates change* <3

I have cheese splurges too. I must say – I got goat cheddar last week and it is SO GOOD! Love it!
And I do like the zipper craze!

  2. Jocelyn on July 16, 2010 at 9:35 am

    Yummy..cheese has my heart, always!

I’m not into the zipper thing, especially on skirts..it looks a little tacky to me 🙁 But what do I know…I’m all about sport shorts and running shoes..lol

  3. Fit Chick in the City on July 16, 2010 at 9:38 am

While I don’t have any clothing items with an exposed zipper, I’m really loving the trend.

  4. Laura J. on July 16, 2010 at 9:40 am

Your tip today on alternating the cadence of your reps is a lot like what we do in Body Pump. It really does create change! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 16, 2010 at 9:41 am

that’s awesome- i’ve never taken a body pump class, but i’m sure i would like it 🙂

  5. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on July 16, 2010 at 9:41 am

I haven’t caught on to the exposed zipper trend yet. I’m not opposed to it, I just haven’t found the right piece yet. It seems like anything I find in the stores looks totally trashy!

  6. Nicci on July 16, 2010 at 9:52 am

If I can find a zipper outfit that looked cute on me, I’d rock this look.

  7. allison @ livingoneday on July 16, 2010 at 9:58 am

i love it! i have a black dress from h&m with an exposed zipper, and black fringe shoes from steve madden with it. such a great look!! HAPPY FRIDAY!

  8. Jessica @ Jessica Balances on July 16, 2010 at 10:05 am

I loooove the exposed zipper trend! I actually have sandals from Urban that look almost exactly like that picture you posted from Forever 21. I LOVE them! I also have a skirt with an exposed zipper and a tank 🙂 love love love!

  9. Lily on July 16, 2010 at 10:06 am

but, unfortunately i cant eat dairy anymore 🙁 so i roll with goat cheese too!
I love your fashion picks! When august comes around you should do a post on homecoming picks! 🙂
    – Your tip does sound alot like body pump! Im surprised you havent tried that class yet!

  10. Dee on July 16, 2010 at 10:17 am

Ooh, those are some CUTE clothes you posted! Unfortunately, I’m not rocking anything trendy this summer. I can’t wait for fall though! 🙂

  11. Naomi on July 16, 2010 at 10:19 am

  15. Exercise and Eat on July 16, 2010 at 10:37 am

    • Fitnessista on July 16, 2010 at 11:19 am

me too! let’s hit up the malls together 🙂

  16. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on July 16, 2010 at 10:37 am

i LOVE that juicy dress! i don’t have anything with exposed zippers (yet) but i do like the trend. 🙂

  17. The Nutritionist Reviews on July 16, 2010 at 10:39 am

I am LOVING exposed zippers too! SO cute!

  18. Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday on July 16, 2010 at 10:41 am

    “Change creates Change”

    Great Tip!

  19. A Teenage Gourmet on July 16, 2010 at 10:45 am

Express sold these *awesome* solid, pencil skirts with gold, exposed zippers a couple of years ago. <3 I love my blue one. 🙂

  20. Paige @Running Around Normal on July 16, 2010 at 10:46 am

Gahhh raw goat cheddar is my favorite. We actually have it here, but it’s still $$$

  21. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on July 16, 2010 at 10:47 am

hehe when I was doing some Nordstrom shopping with my mom, she kept commenting on the exposed zippers. “Now tell me exactly why these boots need zippers like these?!” I ended up buying the pair with out the exposed zippers to save my mom 🙂

  22. Jeannette on July 16, 2010 at 10:47 am

I love you tip! one of my favorite classes is Les Mills’ Body Pump, and this is exactly what they do in that class. If people need help working on this, I’d definitely recommend that class. It gives you some good practice.

  23. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on July 16, 2010 at 10:48 am

I’m still on Princess Bride. I can’t wait for you to see it. 🙂

I’m not a huge fan of the exposed zipper thing, but sometimes I’ll see it on someone else and think it looks cute and kinda edgy. I just don’t think I could pull it off…it’s not my style.

  24. Shanna on July 16, 2010 at 10:49 am

Well I love the strapless denim dress, but in general I’m not *super* on board with exposed zippers. It all depends on the specific item. But if you can rock the look, go for it 🙂

  25. Ilana on July 16, 2010 at 10:49 am

i’m obsessed with exposed zippers. i love zippers. i found this amazing tshirt with an exposed zipper on the back and now i want everything to have an exposed zipper….leggings, dresses, skirts, you name it, i’m rockin’ it. my other big hit for summer is maxi dresses/maxi skirts. i love them…they catch the breeze and keep you cool.

i just joined a gym and can’t wait to start pumpin some iron – i’ve been reading all your tips to get into it.

  26. Chelsa on July 16, 2010 at 10:52 am

I love this trend as well. I recently bought a dress similar to the style of the blue forever21 dress with the zipper in the front. Except the print is bright floral and I’m obsessed. I have a black skirt kind of like that pink mink one too that I got from a Juicy outlet for $30 on the clearance rack. Great trend this week!!

  27. Krystina on July 16, 2010 at 10:58 am

I’m giggling over you writing “gout cheddar” instead of goat. 😀

    • Fitnessista on July 16, 2010 at 11:18 am

hahah oops, i fixed it 🙂

  28. Run Sarah on July 16, 2010 at 11:04 am

I wasn’t sure if I could pull off the exposed zipper look but I love those shoes – so cute!

  29. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on July 16, 2010 at 11:07 am

I like the exposed zipper look but I haven’t bought anything with it yet!

  30. Margot on July 16, 2010 at 11:34 am

I agree with those of you above that say it’s tough to pull off! I love any piece of clothing that I can wear to the office and out, but do you think there is any way to make the exposed zipper look office-worthy?

  31. Anya @ Fitness & Sunshine on July 16, 2010 at 11:36 am

I love the exposed zippers and think they look great on shoes 🙂 as long as it’s not TOO much though, haha.

And I’m always splurging on cheese. How can you not… it’s just too yummy and creamy. I might love it a lil’ too much! (Is there a thing as too much cheese?!)

  32. Mary @ What's Cookin' with Mary on July 16, 2010 at 11:39 am

I do the same kinda thing… good cheese isn’t cheap, but SOOOO worth it. Since the hubb’s doesn’t eat cheese, I always pick one special *treat* out for myself 😉 Last week, it was smoked gouda YUM

  33. Kristina on July 16, 2010 at 11:42 am

I love the exposed zipper – I have an awesome dress with a back zipper – fun!

Cheese (goat + brie mostly) are really the exception to me being vegan. 🙂

  34. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on July 16, 2010 at 11:44 am

Raw goat cheese is my grocery splurge, too! Totally worth it. 😉

I love all the exposed zippers, but I haven’t really jumped on that trend yet!

  35. Kelsey (Nourishing Noshes) on July 16, 2010 at 12:24 pm

For some reason I just can’t get into the zipper craze! I keep imagining someone running up to me and unzipping the front of my dress…no one wants to see that :p

And on a side note- you’ve inspired me to order TurboFire! Now it just needs to get here already!!

  36. Jess on July 16, 2010 at 12:36 pm

I was really resistant to the zipper trend at first…but then I fell hard for a purple satin corset dress from Betsey Johnson with—yep—a zipper down the front. True love.

  37. Tay on July 16, 2010 at 12:41 pm

I actually bought an exposed zipper dress back in April before I’d seen any in stores! I ended up returning it, but now I wish I’d kept it!

  38. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on July 16, 2010 at 1:41 pm

I love zippers in unexpected places..makes me feel like such a badass rebel LOL. But it has to be in a place that’s not gonna touch my skin directly b/c I am not that much of a rebel to enjoy the metal on skin thing.

    haha!

    On everything else…((((HUGS)))))
    Omg hang in there!!!
    xoxo 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 16, 2010 at 2:06 pm

can i just say i’m pretty sure you have magic powers??
      i’ll email you 🙂

  39. Katie @ Healthy Heddleston on July 16, 2010 at 3:04 pm

The exposed zippers is one of the new fashions that I do not favor. I went to the mall today actually and saw those zippers everywhere! Not a fan over here, but I can see how some girls might be able to make it look really cute.

  40. laura on July 16, 2010 at 3:27 pm

I love that blue dress! Pretty xx

  41. Alycia @ Fit n Fresh on July 16, 2010 at 3:30 pm

I was just thinking about grabbing the cutest exposed zipper skirt for HLS! And I love your saying – I’m writing it down (:

  42. Ellen@FirednFabulous on July 16, 2010 at 3:47 pm

I’m all about zippers! Love that Urban top! I don’t have a pair of jeans with zippers on the sides, but I’ve been wanting some for a while. I’m short though…not sure if that’s something that would look good on a vertically challenged person 🙂

  43. Faith @ LovelyAsCharged on July 16, 2010 at 3:57 pm

I love exposed zippers, but I can’t get into them on leggings (well, maybe that has more to do with my hatred of leggings to begin with…but that’s another story). Love the juicy dress you bought!

  44. Lauren on July 16, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Forever 21 has some killller tops with exposed zippers going on right now. So hot! And I’ve now accumulated two pairs of sandals with the zip up the heel. Cute but potentially a little scratchy on the skin :-\

  45. Julie @ Pickley Pear on July 16, 2010 at 5:19 pm

I’m loving the exposed zippers too! Speaking of…Nordstrom is having a sale. I like their sales. Speaking of Gouda – I have some that I think I need to break open!

  46. Rebecca @ How the Cookies Crumble on July 16, 2010 at 5:21 pm

I wore a shirt that zips up the back on a date last week. I drove my man crazy, he loved it! It was great! 😉

  47. Elli @ 16 and Losing It on July 16, 2010 at 5:31 pm

I love the weight lifting tip! I am totally going to try it! Thanks`

  48. Jessica @ Rawtumn on July 16, 2010 at 5:35 pm

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the egg-stada before. That looks delish! I want one now with that gouda and hot sauce of yours, and maybe some spinach or tomatoes to boot!

  49. Jill@MySoCalledHealthLife on July 16, 2010 at 5:54 pm

OMG I had this goat cheese the other day that you would DIE for. It’s a local Texas brand called Cheesy Girl and the cheese is called Hottie, it’s goat cheese with jalapeno. Holy mother it’s good!!

And I haven’t tried the zipper trend, but I have def seen it everywhere. We should just call you the fashionista 😉

    • Fitnessista on July 16, 2010 at 6:54 pm

um, that sounds like my dream goat cheese. amazing!

  50. Salah@myhealthiestlifestyle on July 16, 2010 at 5:56 pm

LOVE those Juicy leggings!!!! I’m definitely rocking the exposed zippers this season! I’ve never tried goat gouda or anything like that but it sounds amazing!!
