Fave cold weather gear + a giveaway- ENDED

Welcome to Tucson, winter.

I have to say, I was a little bit excited when I pulled out my beloved purple Scuba hoodie this morning.

Hoodie

It felt so weird to easily zip it, instead of awkwardly trying to zip it over a large pregnant belly like last year, even though I do kinda miss the belly. I love the soft fabric, the cozy hood and the thumbholes, of course. While it never gets cold enough to warrant working out in a sweatshirt out here, it’s definitely one of my favorite cold weather pieces.

Also on the list: my new arm sleeves that I bought for the race a few weeks ago.

Race stuff

It’s a perfect way to keep warm, without having to commit to a long-sleeved shirt. You get too hot, you take the sleeves off and, in my case, stuff them in your shirt to give you some crazy-looking bumps.

I also love running tights, ear warming headbands and mittens when it’s time for outdoor workouts in the cold. As much as I love all of the extras, hoodies will always be my favorite! I adore so many different styles and brands.

My friends at Under Armour kindly offered to giveaway a fleece storm hoodie to a lucky Fitnessista reader, if you’re looking for an extra way to stay cozy during your workouts, or to and from the gym.

My favorite winter workout is winter hiking (in the snow) with the Bernese Mountain Dog that I watch. Nothing better than that! Cold makes her so happy!

It’s so cold and dark and snowy up in Canada this time of year but I find that I still need to get outside for my sanity! My favourite winter workout is skiing (downhill or cross-country) but I also still love running outside – as long as I’m dressed for the cold!

My favorite winter workout is my arm workout I get when I’m stirring thick yummy cookie batter for the holidays! Does that count? No. Well, ok. I also enjoy running in the cold because I always warm up quickly and forget that it’s even cold….until I stop. Sweat+Cold=Freezing!

I would have to say that my favorite winter workout would have to be hot yoga! When it gets cold around here, I crave it… although not the whole running outside in the cold while sweaty part… hahaha

Favorite winter workout is a run outside (when it is not icy or snowy). Crisp air is so invigorating!

  31. Jill on December 12, 2012 at 4:05 pm

It get’s VERY cold where I live (about -35 degrees Celsius today) so working out outside isn’t always an option. On nicer days, snowshoeing is a lot of fun, and going sledding is a surprisingly tough workout (trudging up hills multiple times on ice? exhausting!). I get my workouts in by throwing in an Insanity DVD in the mornings or running on the treadmill while I zone out and watch TV. I’m nervously considering CrossFit and want to get into BodyRock once I figure it out.

Also, bicep curling big mugs of hot tea help.

My favorite winter workout is a nice simple interval workout on the treadmill. Gets the job done:)
However, I wouldn’t mind some new winter running gear to get me out on those cold New England streets this year!

Crossfit! I joined with friends and when any of us are “too tired” after a long day at work, we pump each other up. Afterwards we’re so happy we ended up going.
