Fave cold weather gear + a giveaway- ENDED

Welcome to Tucson, winter.

I have to say, I was a little bit excited when I pulled out my beloved purple Scuba hoodie this morning.

Hoodie

It felt so weird to easily zip it, instead of awkwardly trying to zip it over a large pregnant belly like last year, even though I do kinda miss the belly. I love the soft fabric, the cozy hood and the thumbholes, of course. While it never gets cold enough to warrant working out in a sweatshirt out here, it’s definitely one of my favorite cold weather pieces.

Also on the list: my new arm sleeves that I bought for the race a few weeks ago.

Race stuff

It’s a perfect way to keep warm, without having to commit to a long-sleeved shirt. You get too hot, you take the sleeves off and, in my case, stuff them in your shirt to give you some crazy-looking bumps.

I also love running tights, ear warming headbands and mittens when it’s time for outdoor workouts in the cold. As much as I love all of the extras, hoodies will always be my favorite! I adore so many different styles and brands.

My friends at Under Armour kindly offered to giveaway a fleece storm hoodie to a lucky Fitnessista reader, if you’re looking for an extra way to stay cozy during your workouts, or to and from the gym.

Favorite winter workout? Being butt-a*** cold and running outside so that I can later soakup that joyful feeling of finishing up while warm with my blood vessels all dilated and my brain happy to be oxygenated and full of endorphins!

Hi Gina! My favorite winter workout is hot yoga because it feels amazing to walk outside with well-stretched jello-legs in the cool brisk air after sweating it up in a sauna of a yoga room.

  24. Amie on December 12, 2012 at 6:49 pm

Wow! What an awesome giveaway, I love jackets and absolutely anything under armour. My favorite winter workout is anything that burns off all the holiday goodies I eat! Even though I’m in Arizona as well, I’m a weenie with the cold (even though its not that cold!) so my runs are put off & I stay in doors to do my favorite workout DVDs, Bob Harper & Jillian Michaels are my fave 🙂

  25. Victoria on December 12, 2012 at 6:49 pm

I still love running outside, but spinning in the winter is probably my favorite 🙂 That jacket looks so cozy, great motivation for getting out of bed early when it is dark and cold outside!!!

  26. Amie on December 12, 2012 at 6:49 pm

I also just subscribed to your YouTube, love it 🙂

  27. Liz on December 12, 2012 at 6:50 pm

HIIT training! I get warmed up fast when I’m cold 😉

  28. Rachel Henry on December 12, 2012 at 6:50 pm

My favorite piece of winter workout gear is my headband that keeps my ears warm, I can’t run with cold ears!

  29. Erin L on December 12, 2012 at 6:53 pm

It’s weird but I love swimming (indoors) during the winter. I also get a good workout shoveling snow when we get it.

  30. Mackenzie on December 12, 2012 at 6:53 pm

Although there are times I complain about the cold temperatures I am beginning to like running in the snow, the snow on the ground gives a bit and feels good on the body

  34. Lizzy @ Lizzy Lives in LA on December 12, 2012 at 6:55 pm

I live in SoCal and before that Phoenix, so winter workouts are pretty much my favorite since it isn’t too hot for anything! I love hiking and doing tough plyometric work outside in the nice cool air!

  35. Deborah on December 12, 2012 at 6:55 pm

    HOT Yoga!!! To warm up!

  36. Liz on December 12, 2012 at 6:56 pm

I live in Maine and love winter running. The first few frigid runs take some getting used to, but it feels great to come in and be cozy after. When it gets too cold, I turn to Turbo Fire dvds which I got after seeing rave reviews here – you were right!

  49. Lisa on December 12, 2012 at 7:09 pm

Favorite winter workout is spin. I live on the East Coast where it gets cold and snowy in the winter so I get outside to run as much as I can but when I can’t – spinning is a great workout!
