Fave cold weather gear + a giveaway- ENDED

Welcome to Tucson, winter.

I have to say, I was a little bit excited when I pulled out my beloved purple Scuba hoodie this morning.

Hoodie

It felt so weird to easily zip it, instead of awkwardly trying to zip it over a large pregnant belly like last year, even though I do kinda miss the belly. I love the soft fabric, the cozy hood and the thumbholes, of course. While it never gets cold enough to warrant working out in a sweatshirt out here, it’s definitely one of my favorite cold weather pieces.

Also on the list: my new arm sleeves that I bought for the race a few weeks ago.

Race stuff

It’s a perfect way to keep warm, without having to commit to a long-sleeved shirt. You get too hot, you take the sleeves off and, in my case, stuff them in your shirt to give you some crazy-looking bumps.

I also love running tights, ear warming headbands and mittens when it’s time for outdoor workouts in the cold. As much as I love all of the extras, hoodies will always be my favorite! I adore so many different styles and brands.

My friends at Under Armour kindly offered to giveaway a fleece storm hoodie to a lucky Fitnessista reader, if you’re looking for an extra way to stay cozy during your workouts, or to and from the gym.

I have a Nike Pro Combat dry fit long sleeve that I love to wear. It has to be about 20 degrees out to wear it tho. One is pink with a different pattern on the sleeve and the other is orange with a different pattern on the sleeve. They are awesome looking and have thumbholes!

My favorite winter workout (as crazy as this sounds) is running with my boyfriend. He works hard everyday and I love the times when we go out running together and we come home, take a quick shower and jump into bed with our electric heater, hot coffee and a movie for some snuggle times. 🙂

  13. Marci on December 12, 2012 at 7:16 pm

TRX is my favorite winter workout.. my gym offers mostly outdoor TRX in the spring/summer, which while working out outdoors is nice, i prefer indoor classes for TRX 🙂 I love the hoodie!!!

  14. Cate on December 12, 2012 at 7:17 pm

Hot yoga is delightful in the winter. Leaving the studio is the tough part….

I love doing hot yoga in the winter! I live in Indiana, and we can definitely get our share of icy, snowy freezing weather. It feels so great to get (over) heated in yoga and then come back outside to the fresh air. LOVE hoodies; just got one from Zella that I’m rocking! Thumbholes!

Oh, I subscribed to your you tube channel! 🙂

I love a good long run on a snowy day with my puppers.

  23. Ali on December 12, 2012 at 7:20 pm

My favorite winter workout is yoga because it’s inside! I have a hard time getting my butt off the couch to run in anything under 45 degrees…

  24. Gillian on December 12, 2012 at 7:21 pm

Love this hoodie! My favorite winter workout has got to be skiing! I usually can only find the time to go once or twice a season, so it’s a rare pleasure — and I always feel the burn of those typically unused muscles after a day at the slopes.

  25. mountain girl heidi on December 12, 2012 at 7:23 pm

I LOVE running in the snow. Snowshoeing is also amazing.

  26. Zainab on December 12, 2012 at 7:23 pm

Insanity is my fav indoor/ winter weather workout!

  27. liz on December 12, 2012 at 7:23 pm

My favorite winter workout is CrossFit! Quick metcons and strength sessions are where it’s at. 🙂

  28. Helen on December 12, 2012 at 7:24 pm

  30. Jamie on December 12, 2012 at 7:24 pm

My fave winter workout is a crossfit workout. Last winter I stayed motivated and on top of my eating while I was going to crossfit 3x a week. I’m still working out 2x a week with crossfit.

I live in Vermont, so snowshoeing or cross-country skiing are my winter favorites! Though when it gets below 15 F, I like to do some yoga near my wood stove!

  33. Trisha on December 12, 2012 at 7:28 pm

I live in Northern Wisconsin and am currently outside snowshoeing, cross country skiing and running! We already have a foot of snow on the ground and temperatures near 0 degrees. I am always cold and would LOVE this under armour fleece storm hoodie for all of those activities 🙂

  34. Allison W. on December 12, 2012 at 7:28 pm

My fav winter workout is running, same as in the summer. I tend to take it indoors on the treadmill, but try at least once a week to run outside (at least until the highs are in the 30s, that’s a little cold for me). I nice run through the winter air feels fabulous.

  35. Courtney Tucker on December 12, 2012 at 7:28 pm

Running is still my favorite winter workout!

HIIT treadmill workout, or weights circuit! Anything in the gym- I’m a cold-weather wimp!

  39. KristenB86 on December 12, 2012 at 7:30 pm

I love doing yoga in the winter! I seemed to be more stressed (holidays, anyone?) so taking some time to breathe and reflect really helps me live in the moment. Living in Chicago, that hoodie would get a lot of use 🙂

  40. Megan on December 12, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Running is my favorite winter workout!

  41. Jenn on December 12, 2012 at 7:31 pm

I love running all year round but do it mostly indoors on my treadmill in the winter.

  42. Kristen on December 12, 2012 at 7:31 pm

I live in New York, so we definitely see the long snowy winter months here! Since I am usually too chicken to do an outdoor work out, I have been dusting off some workout videos that have been hibernating since last winter. Once or twice a week I try to brave the weather and head out to the zumba studio. Great giveaway, I love your purple hoodie!

  43. Kelly S on December 12, 2012 at 7:32 pm

My favorite winter workout is HIIT. I love how intense it can be, especially on those cold and dreary days!!

My fav winter weather workout is done….in a warm studio or gym! 😉 Hey, I live in MN, what can I say? Give me a good kettlebell class or a warm yoga studio and the coldest I’ll get is the walk to and from the car!

  48. Kelsey on December 12, 2012 at 7:35 pm

I love Zumba and at home Hiit workouts because then I don’t have to go outside!

  49. Kate on December 12, 2012 at 7:36 pm

My favorite winter workout is running outside! Nothing like the crisp, winter air to wake you up 🙂 I would love to rock that jacket in Chicago.

  50. Michaela on December 12, 2012 at 7:36 pm

I’ve gone on a couple of freeeezing cold runs on snow and ice. While I was miserable (mostly) for the runs, it made me feel kind of hard core. And as long as I have a running buddy, I’ll brave the elements of winter to get an outdoor run in!
