Fave cold weather gear + a giveaway- ENDED

Welcome to Tucson, winter.

I have to say, I was a little bit excited when I pulled out my beloved purple Scuba hoodie this morning.

Hoodie

It felt so weird to easily zip it, instead of awkwardly trying to zip it over a large pregnant belly like last year, even though I do kinda miss the belly. I love the soft fabric, the cozy hood and the thumbholes, of course. While it never gets cold enough to warrant working out in a sweatshirt out here, it’s definitely one of my favorite cold weather pieces.

Also on the list: my new arm sleeves that I bought for the race a few weeks ago.

Race stuff

It’s a perfect way to keep warm, without having to commit to a long-sleeved shirt. You get too hot, you take the sleeves off and, in my case, stuff them in your shirt to give you some crazy-looking bumps.

I also love running tights, ear warming headbands and mittens when it’s time for outdoor workouts in the cold. As much as I love all of the extras, hoodies will always be my favorite! I adore so many different styles and brands.

My friends at Under Armour kindly offered to giveaway a fleece storm hoodie to a lucky Fitnessista reader, if you’re looking for an extra way to stay cozy during your workouts, or to and from the gym.

My favorite winter workout is anything that I can do indoors, in my living room! This winter that means the 30 Day Shred DVD. Over here it gets too cold to even want to leave the house to travel to the gym so staying indoors is key. That hoodie looks very comfy!

Definitley snowboarding…so fun but a great workout too!

  3. Marguerite on December 12, 2012 at 7:37 pm

It doesn’t get terribly cold where I live, but I really enjoy the chill on my skin when I run outside. My fav workout gear, no matter the season, is a hat or headband. I can’t stand hair in my face, especially when I’m working out and sweaty.

  6. Sam on December 12, 2012 at 7:40 pm

It’s soooo cold here (about -18C at the moment) so most outside workouts are truly out. But when it’s warm enough to be outside I like taking a walk in the snow or going tobogganing, which is such a workout when you have to drag your sled back up the hill a hundred times!

    Oooh, great giveaway!

My favorite winter workout is getting sweaty in a Turbo Kick class, but sometimes a crisp, cold run is just what you need! 🙂

    I’m already a YouTube subscriber!

This winter I’m enjoying workouts with my trainer – mix of cardio & strength. But, I did really enjoy the crisp run this morning (though only in the 40s)!

I can never brave the cold, so my fave winter workout is INSIDE 🙂 Whether it be a run or a circuit workout.

My favorite winter workout is strength training. I focus more on running while it’s warm outside, and it’s a happy surprise to start spring already toned up!

  17. PracticingGrace on December 12, 2012 at 7:49 pm

I like a warm sweaty yoga class in the winter!! Great release

  18. Cai on December 12, 2012 at 7:51 pm

My fav winter workout is the elliptical trainer. 🙂
Of course, while watching Netflix. <3

  19. Carly M on December 12, 2012 at 7:51 pm

My favorite outdoor winter activity is definitely skiing. Love love love it. My favorite indoor winter activity is hot yoga. I live in seattle and on the dreary, long, cold winter days nothing give me a bigger pep in my step then feeling warm to my soul in the hot yoga studio.

  20. lindsay on December 12, 2012 at 7:52 pm

A long weekend run in mid 30 degree weather on a snowy road.

  21. Kristen on December 12, 2012 at 7:52 pm

My favorite winter workouts are Bikram Yoga and Spin. Hot yoga keeps me toasty when the nights get chilly and Spin is one of my favs no matter the season.

  22. Danielle K on December 12, 2012 at 7:53 pm

I love running…since I live in FL and it doesn’t get too cold, it’s perfect running weather with a jacket 🙂

  23. Lacy on December 12, 2012 at 7:54 pm

Can snowball fights count as a workout?! My favorite winter workout is any workout i can get myself to do

  24. Kelley on December 12, 2012 at 7:55 pm

My favorite winter working is definitely sledding or ice skating, so fun it doesn’t feel like exercise 🙂

  25. Allison on December 12, 2012 at 7:55 pm

    Treadmill and free weights!

  26. Christine on December 12, 2012 at 7:58 pm

My favorite winter workout is doing intervals and hills on the treadmill! During the non-winter months I take advantage of every opportunity to get outside and run so during the winter months it’s nice to get back on the treadmill. I’m sure I’ll change my mind by the time February rolls around and I’m sick of running on the hamster wheel 🙂

  27. Nicole on December 12, 2012 at 7:59 pm

    Chilly morning run!!

  28. Jen on December 12, 2012 at 7:59 pm

Snowshoeing is my favorite winter activity. The workout is bonus. 🙂

I’m a winter runner! I’m only going inside if if sleeting horrible icy things outside!

  31. Alison R on December 12, 2012 at 8:01 pm

I love running in the snow and then going inside to warm up with some free weights.

  32. Cookie on December 12, 2012 at 8:01 pm

It doesn’t get very hot in Georgia, so I like running outside. It can be cold at first, but I start sweating and it’s perfect.

  33. Kelly Katheryn on December 12, 2012 at 8:01 pm

I enjoy going to the gym for a lift session, walking outside and getting a fresh breath of cool air. It’s invigorating. A super awesome hoodie would just add to that feeling. 🙂

  34. Sylvia P on December 12, 2012 at 8:02 pm

Favorite winter workout is any type of cardio to keep me warm!

  35. Jessica on December 12, 2012 at 8:02 pm

Running! I trained for my last marathon during the winter and was so afraid to do it in the cold, but loved it. I’m starting to train for another marathon in a couple of weeks and am trying to stock up on winter running gear – this would be the perfect accessory! Great giveaway! 🙂

  36. Liz on December 12, 2012 at 8:03 pm

My fave winter workout is definitely Zumba! (Well, realistically my all-year-round favourite workout is Zumba, but still… 😉 ) I also enjoy a good cardio kickboxing class to make me sweat. And I am already subscribed to your Youtube channel. 🙂

My favorite winter workout is snowboarding! My legs are always killing me the next day and it’s a great core workout too! It also has the added bonus of amazing scenery!

  40. Iris R. on December 12, 2012 at 8:05 pm

I love HIIT – it’s fast and easy to do inside, which doesn’t give me an excuse when it’s too cold or snowy here in Colorado. I like the workouts you put up too. They make great bonus routines.

  41. Britt on December 12, 2012 at 8:06 pm

I’ll run outside as much as I can this winter. I bought some snow shoes last year. We didn’t get much snow in Iowa last winter so I didn’t get to break them in much. The hoodie would go great with either one of those workouts.

  45. meghan on December 12, 2012 at 8:08 pm

My favorite workout in the winter is running!!! I live in FL so I’d live for days like this to run in all the time.

I used to figure skate so I always love to get in a few good skates once the weather gets cold!
