Fave cold weather gear + a giveaway- ENDED

Welcome to Tucson, winter.

I have to say, I was a little bit excited when I pulled out my beloved purple Scuba hoodie this morning.

Hoodie

It felt so weird to easily zip it, instead of awkwardly trying to zip it over a large pregnant belly like last year, even though I do kinda miss the belly. I love the soft fabric, the cozy hood and the thumbholes, of course. While it never gets cold enough to warrant working out in a sweatshirt out here, it’s definitely one of my favorite cold weather pieces.

Also on the list: my new arm sleeves that I bought for the race a few weeks ago.

Race stuff

It’s a perfect way to keep warm, without having to commit to a long-sleeved shirt. You get too hot, you take the sleeves off and, in my case, stuff them in your shirt to give you some crazy-looking bumps.

I also love running tights, ear warming headbands and mittens when it’s time for outdoor workouts in the cold. As much as I love all of the extras, hoodies will always be my favorite! I adore so many different styles and brands.

My friends at Under Armour kindly offered to giveaway a fleece storm hoodie to a lucky Fitnessista reader, if you’re looking for an extra way to stay cozy during your workouts, or to and from the gym.

My favorite winter workout would either be zumba (but that is my favorite all the time workout) or
snowshoeing! Snowshoeing is such a great way to burn calories and strengthen your heart and muscles and is one of the most beautiful things to do in a Colorado winter!

My favorite winter workout is anything outdoors while it’s halfway cool here in Texas ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey Gina – thanks for the give-away!!

My favourite workout is a variety to keep it interesting. Bootcamp, running (either treadmill or outdoors when not too much snow to hinder), tabata’s, hiit. Variety is the spice of life to get a Canadian girl through the dark winter. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a great day!

  9. Rachel S on December 12, 2012 at 3:18 pm

My favorite winter workout is sprints followed by a little bootcamp action. Fast, efficient and effective! I would love to win this! I’ve been eyeing a jacket like this for quite some time but won’t let myself spend the money.

My favorite winter workout is…sitting on the couch! Kidding! Anything Crossfit, I know you’re not a fan. But it’s quick, intense, and I’m done in an hour:) Plus I live in Vermont, I totally need warm hoodies!

  11. Coco on December 12, 2012 at 3:18 pm

I work out inside in the winter…too cold up North! I try to change it up with different videos and at home equipment!

If it’s above 20 or 25 out, I love to run outdoors! If it’s below 20 I usually do a Pinterest/Blog inspired HIIT workout!

  16. Kelsey H. on December 12, 2012 at 3:18 pm

My favorite winter workout is interval runs on treadmills. I only run on treadmills when it’s super cold outside, but it’s nice to mix it up.

  17. Priscilla P on December 12, 2012 at 3:18 pm

My favorite winter workout is indoor cycling. It’s the best when you’re done and go out to the chilly weather, it’s refreshing! Especially in Portland ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Kimberly Roberts on December 12, 2012 at 3:19 pm

My favorite winter workout would have to be running stairs at a local park! Living in Las Vegas makes working out outside a luxury during the winter, compared to the summer!

  26. Jessica on December 12, 2012 at 3:19 pm

I love a good afternoon run in the winter! I head out on the weekends, because it’s too dark after work during the week (that’s what the gym is for). I live on the West Coast, so it’s never too cold for outdoor exercise, thankfully! However, hoodies are essential! ๐Ÿ™‚

Favorite winter work out is hiking in the snow!

  28. Mary Anne on December 12, 2012 at 3:19 pm

I only like running outside with my friends! If not, I have no motivation to run outside in the winter (I live in the Northeast!). Sometimes we’ll even run to breakfast :).

  29. Megan S. on December 12, 2012 at 3:19 pm

Favorite winter workout would have to be some type of high energy group class! Sometimes it’s hard to motivate myself on my own, or work as hard as I should….or even want to get out of bed for that matter!

I live up in Minnesota and we are lucky to get tons of snow in the winter! Heck, we got 14 inches last week!

My favorite winter workout is snowshoe running! Even when I’m in great shape, every snowshoe run makes me feel like a big ball of weak. It’s lovely!

  39. Nicole F. on December 12, 2012 at 3:20 pm

Although I’m still a beginner, skiing is definitely a great workout! My quads were so sore the next day. The hot chocolate after isn’t bad either : )

  40. Betsy on December 12, 2012 at 3:20 pm

All of my workouts are cold and wintery since I live in Syracuse, snowiest city in the US! Running is what I prefer when the roads are clear. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Spinning!

  48. Kelsey on December 12, 2012 at 3:21 pm

I love the hoodie ! It’s 11 degrees here in minnesnowta and that would’ve perfect. My favorite winter workout is snow shoeing on trails and frozen lakes. Thanks for the giveaway !

  49. KariLynne10 on December 12, 2012 at 3:21 pm

My favourite winter workout is going hiking in the trails/fields with my little Boston Terrier in a few feet of snow. We both strap on our boots and head out for some workout time with some snow. It gives us a chance to get outside even with lots of snow and provides us with lots of resistance and a good workout!

  50. Aurora on December 12, 2012 at 3:21 pm

I live in Chicago, land of cold winters, but I absolutely love running outside in the winter. Its so peaceful and reflective with the snow. I don’t know how you hot weather runners do it!

    That hoodie looks AMAZING!!!
