Fave cold weather gear + a giveaway- ENDED

Welcome to Tucson, winter.

I have to say, I was a little bit excited when I pulled out my beloved purple Scuba hoodie this morning.

Hoodie

It felt so weird to easily zip it, instead of awkwardly trying to zip it over a large pregnant belly like last year, even though I do kinda miss the belly. I love the soft fabric, the cozy hood and the thumbholes, of course. While it never gets cold enough to warrant working out in a sweatshirt out here, it’s definitely one of my favorite cold weather pieces.

Also on the list: my new arm sleeves that I bought for the race a few weeks ago.

Race stuff

It’s a perfect way to keep warm, without having to commit to a long-sleeved shirt. You get too hot, you take the sleeves off and, in my case, stuff them in your shirt to give you some crazy-looking bumps.

I also love running tights, ear warming headbands and mittens when it’s time for outdoor workouts in the cold. As much as I love all of the extras, hoodies will always be my favorite! I adore so many different styles and brands.

My friends at Under Armour kindly offered to giveaway a fleece storm hoodie to a lucky Fitnessista reader, if you’re looking for an extra way to stay cozy during your workouts, or to and from the gym.

My fave cold weather workout is going to spin class. My gym is only about a block away, I get a good sweat, and then I’m back to my hoodie and a warm cup of tea at my apt ๐Ÿ™‚

I love taking walks outside in the winter. I normally hit up my treadmill for jogs, but the walks outside with some fresh, crisp air. Delicious!

I like to put on shorts and a hoodie and freeze my buns off on the way to the gym — makes me work harder to warm myself up! haha ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m in Wisconsin, and it gets pretty cold outside. But, for me, it’s perfect for running outdoors. So, I would say my favorite winter workout is a long run outside on a Saturday morning.

  24. Vicki on December 12, 2012 at 3:27 pm

My favorite winter workout is anything that makes me sweat! Just going to the gym on a cold day and sweating it up on a good run makes me feel so accomplished.

My physical activity slows waaaay down in the winter. My go-to is brisk long walks.

  27. Sarah on December 12, 2012 at 3:27 pm

Nothing beats a run early in the morning when the snow is sparkling in the light from the street lamps.

  28. Katie on December 12, 2012 at 3:27 pm

I would have to say any type of circuit workout that incorporates strength and cardio! In the warm months I gravitate towards more cardio outside, so when Winter comes I am pretty excited to kick up my strength training a notch!

  29. Julie on December 12, 2012 at 3:27 pm

Call me crazy, but I like to bundle up and run more it seems during the colder winter months. I think it has something to do with the fact that I feel so accomplished and awesome afterwards. Afterall, running in the cold isn’t easy!

  38. Jillian on December 12, 2012 at 3:28 pm

I love running in the winter! The cold is moderate in Portland, so there are only a few days of ice and snow ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d much rather run in the cold than the heat.

I try to keep running outside in the winter, but here in Massachusetts that’s not always a great plan. For those days when I can’t face it, I do a workout dvd or yoga.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

I just subscribed to your YouTube channel….Also, my favorite winter workout is running outside when it’s raining. Is that weird? Like right now, it’s raining here in the VLD and I am excited to put my running shoes on! I’m definitely an Oregonian…You can take the girl out of Oregon, but not Oregon out of the girl!! I would also LOVE to win the hoodie. I love wearing hoodies, and feeling cozy. I also know it’ll be put to good use since we’ll be moving to Korea soon, and the winters are mighty cold!

  49. Kim on December 12, 2012 at 3:29 pm

I love running but do not like running in the cold!! So my favorite winter work outs are treadmill runs. I also LOVE a nice hot Bikram Yoga class on a cold New England day here in Boston!!
