Fave cold weather gear + a giveaway- ENDED

Welcome to Tucson, winter.

I have to say, I was a little bit excited when I pulled out my beloved purple Scuba hoodie this morning.

Hoodie

It felt so weird to easily zip it, instead of awkwardly trying to zip it over a large pregnant belly like last year, even though I do kinda miss the belly. I love the soft fabric, the cozy hood and the thumbholes, of course. While it never gets cold enough to warrant working out in a sweatshirt out here, it’s definitely one of my favorite cold weather pieces.

Also on the list: my new arm sleeves that I bought for the race a few weeks ago.

Race stuff

It’s a perfect way to keep warm, without having to commit to a long-sleeved shirt. You get too hot, you take the sleeves off and, in my case, stuff them in your shirt to give you some crazy-looking bumps.

I also love running tights, ear warming headbands and mittens when it’s time for outdoor workouts in the cold. As much as I love all of the extras, hoodies will always be my favorite! I adore so many different styles and brands.

My friends at Under Armour kindly offered to giveaway a fleece storm hoodie to a lucky Fitnessista reader, if you’re looking for an extra way to stay cozy during your workouts, or to and from the gym.

My favorrrrrrrite winter workout is heated yoga – flowing in the heat is just so my style. I can’t get enough, there is nothing better then walking into the heated studio after freezing my frosty booty off getting to class.

    Love it!

Oh and YOU betcha that I subscribe to the youtube channel, my booty hurts for days after a go or two of the booty burner. It is my go-to burner ๐Ÿ˜‰

i love the c9 champion target long sleeve tops that have the thumb holes. they look very similar to the lululemon swiftly long sleeve shirts. they are perfect for running outside!

Honestly I’ve only just begun making my workouts part of my lifestyle instead of being sporadic, so I don’t really have a favorite winter workout–but I’m enjoying all of them! I love Zumba and I’m doing the Couch to 5K program. I dig nighttime rejuvenating yoga in my cozy PJs, too! Also I live in Massachusetts, and I pretty much rock a hoodie year round!

Weight lifting and Tabata!! I’m a wimp when it comes to running in the cold!

  19. liz on December 12, 2012 at 3:32 pm

My fave winter workout is definitely yoga. There’s something about the cold weather that makes my body all tight/stiff. A good yoga session feels like it warms me up from the inside. It’s like bourbon, but it’s better for you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi Gina!

My favorite winter workout is yoga! It’s always a stressful time of year (and sad in January when all the fun of the holidays are over) so I love to stay centered while building strength and long muscles. ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Jess on December 12, 2012 at 3:32 pm

My favorite winter workouts are the same as my favorite summer ones: Les Mills Body Pump, Body Combat, and Body Jam!

  24. nicole on December 12, 2012 at 3:32 pm

My fav winter workout is running in the (WI) snow. In the morning it’s quiet, dark and I love the crunch of snow beneath my feel. Thanks!

  25. Jen Compton on December 12, 2012 at 3:32 pm

My favorite winter workout is still a run on a sunny (not too cold) day.

  26. Kelly on December 12, 2012 at 3:33 pm

i love the winter months bc i am motivated to focus on strength training since running in the dark, cold mornings is not my favorite activity. love the hoodie!!

  27. Erin on December 12, 2012 at 3:33 pm

I love running in the winter! (I live in FL, so we don’t really have a “winter” :))

  28. Blake on December 12, 2012 at 3:33 pm

In Florida the winter weather so so beautiful that I keep it simple: long walks outside.

  29. Alice Sage Porter on December 12, 2012 at 3:33 pm

    Hi Gina,
Thanks for the give away! My favorite winter workout is with Jillian Michaels, “Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism”. It’s really awesome and is the only workout indoors that I found, so far, that leaves me with the endorphins and feeling like I went on a good run, minus the cold and slippery washington weather. I like that it builds both your cardiovascular and strength endurance.

  30. Meg on December 12, 2012 at 3:33 pm

I live in Ohio so I love staying home and doing TurboFire or Insanity!

  31. Emily on December 12, 2012 at 3:33 pm

I love [to hate] running in the winter here in Massachusetts. Even if I only manage a couple of miles it makes me feel like a total badass.

  36. Beverly Aragon on December 12, 2012 at 3:34 pm

Hmmm, does mattress mambo count? I’m a wuss and haaaaate to workout in the cold weather, so indoor activities are my jam!

  37. Catherine Crain on December 12, 2012 at 3:34 pm

    i subscribed to you ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Hannah J on December 12, 2012 at 3:35 pm

My favorite winter workout is yoga. I know I don’t do enough of it in the summer when the weather is so nice outside.

  39. Ali on December 12, 2012 at 3:35 pm

And… my favourite winter workout…. hmmm. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, so it gets cold. We have the world’s largest outdoor skating rink (it’s a canal that’s miles and miles long!), which is always fun to skate once a year at least! But to be honest, I prefer warm weather, so during the dead of winter I love hot yoga!

  40. Rosalie on December 12, 2012 at 3:35 pm

… And I just subscribed to your youtube channel. I only just figured out this whole subscribing to youtube channel things, and it is a great new way to procrastinate on the internet!

Bikram yoga!! Nothing better than de-thawing in the heated room. It’s my favorite winter (and anytime) workout ๐Ÿ™‚

  50. Liz on December 12, 2012 at 3:37 pm

I love sprints because I really sweat and sweating makes me feel like I really pushed myself!
