For the love of goats and crispy treats

(in that order?)

Hi friends! How’s your week going? So glad the weekend is almost here!

We went up to Anaheim a day early so we could make a family Disneyland trip.

Us at disneyland

Liv asks to go to Disneyland probably every day, so it was awesome that the timing worked out to make a little trip. It rocked her world in the best way. As the Pilot (jokingly) put it, “I will never have that kind of happiness in my adult life.” It’s pretty incredible to watch the excitement from her point of view; everything is magical.

The shows, parades and rides were amazing, but as a family, we tend to get really excited about petting goats,

Tom and livi w goats

Petting the goats

and the delicious Disney treats that are everywhere.

I really want to put together a “Healthy Disney Eats” post for you guys, but for now, all I have is the location for the BEST Mickey rice crispies.

ConfectionaryCrispy

We spent the morning riding rides and checking out Livi’s favorite Disney Junior show, and came back to the hotel for naptime/quiet time. The Pilot stayed in the room with Livi, and I went downstairs to work on the laptop for a little while. My awesome designer is putting the finishing touches on the blog revamp, and it looks like it will be up Monday! I can’t wait for you guys to see it, and for the blog to be much easier to use and navigate. (Edited to say: part of the revamp went live overnight, but this is not the finished version. Surprise sneak peak at the new layout!)

The computer ended up staying closed, because I walked into the coffee shop to see Katy, Heather and Julie! We ended up chatting for quite a while, and headed over to IDEA to pick up our packets.

We got a tiny glimpse of the expo, and I nerded out in a serious way. There is going to be so many amazing vendors to check out, in addition to the full lecture and workout lineup. It’s going to be a great weekend!

Hope you have a wonderful night <3

xoxo

Gina

Omg I am seriously in love with your new blog layout!!

Growing up on the East Coast Disney World was where it was at, but I would love to go to Disney Land some day! Have so much fun at the conference!

Fun! I have never been to Disneyland, but have been to Disney World several times. We just got back from a vacation there with my daughters, my parents, and my youngest brother and his family a few weeks ago. It was awesome!

I live for Walt Disney World’s giant tollhouse chocolate chip cookies, especially in chipwich form as well as their gigantic chocolate covered apples. Seriously the best!

LOVE the new layout. It’s awesome! Who did the design? Also, I’ve never been to Disneyland, but I’ve been to Disney World a bunch of times and it’s still my favorite place in the world even as an adult.

  7. Lynn @ The Photographer's Wife on August 14, 2014 at 8:33 am

Petting (and brushing!) the goats is my son’s favorite thing to do in Disney World! Whenever we are at Animal Kingdom, it’s always our first stop!

  8. Heather @fitncookies on August 14, 2014 at 8:36 am

I’m loving the new layout!! It looks fantastic and so clean!

  9. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West on August 14, 2014 at 8:41 am

Love the start of the redesign. I worked for Disney when I lived in Orlando and have been to all of the parks in the U.S. I love all of the shows of course, but my favorite attractions are Philharmagic in Orlando and the Small World in Anaheim. Disney is a truly a magical place.

I wasn’t able to make it to IDEA this year, and am so jealous. Please keep the pictures and updates coming, as I can’t wait to see what you learn. Enjoy!

I haven’t been to Disney in years but look forward to taking my little one in a few years. Such a wonderful experience!

We went to Disney World (is that the Orlando one? haha) in December, when my daughter was just over 1 year old. Can’t wait to take her back when she’s older!! I think the eating healthy at Disney is an important one – especially since it shows it’s possible ;). I think we just brought a lot of our own snacks. Good thing you have a free ticket to do that with kids, eh? Funny part about reading this post is that I’m actually sipping tea out of my Tinkerbell mug!! haha

  15. Carly on August 14, 2014 at 9:27 am

Ooo! I’m going to mimic everyone’s comments that the new look is super clean and easy to navigate! (I literally said “oooo” in my head. Only in my head because I am at work.)

  16. Nicole on August 14, 2014 at 9:30 am

Love the sneak-peak at the new layout and design! Looks great.

  17. Domi @ Eat, Pray, Lift on August 14, 2014 at 9:34 am

The new layout is just gorgeous….so crisp and bright and with lots of that Gina-spark. 😉 Well done! (Making me even more anxious to get my redesign finished, haha)

Sounds like IDEA is going to be fantastic. Have fun and can’t wait for your updates!

I’ve just been to Disneyworld but mostly remember not being to go to the Honey I Blew Up the Kids park haha.
I have a huge weakness for any type or rice crispy treat!!

    Keep having fun, looks awesome!

  19. mary on August 14, 2014 at 9:50 am

    Blog looks terrific!

We got to DL once a year, usually, and were just there a few weeks ago. We love it. Our fav foods aren’t so healthy– pomme frites at Cafe Orleans, beignets at the counter behind it, corn dogs on Main St. and soft pretzels at Pacific Pier.

  20. Joanna on August 14, 2014 at 9:55 am

I love the new look so far. It is very bright and cheery. My favorite ride at Disneyland is Space Mountain. I love coasters and speed. lol But Tower of Terror is also fun.

    Have a great weekend!!

  21. Shaina Anderson on August 14, 2014 at 10:19 am

Okay dumb question but where are the goats?!?

Tripp LOVES Dumbo and the teacups. Not sure how that’s going to go when we have Ryleigh with us haha.

  25. Maria on August 14, 2014 at 10:42 am

So far, I’m loving the new blog layout! I can’t wait to see what it looks like on Monday. To watch life in general through the eyes of your child is truly amazing. I feel like it’s our way of getting to be kids again. Right now we’re starting to potty train and my daughter gets to blow bubbles when she goes in the potty. You would think she just won the lottery when she gets to do it! So cute!

  26. Erin on August 14, 2014 at 10:52 am

I love the new blog layout! I will miss the pink, though! I saw it lat night and got really excited! I would love a healthy Disney post! I’m going to Disney World in November and would love to stay on my healthy path.

  27. Kristen on August 14, 2014 at 11:07 am

Loving the sneak peak of the new layout!!

I’ve been to Disneyland twice once at 18 and another at 22. I’m still only 25 and my husband and I are wanting to go back. It’s just such a happy place 🙂

  28. Lori on August 14, 2014 at 11:09 am

Can’t imagine the site looking better, its fabulous already!

We took my boys (6 and 3.5) to Disney World in May and my youngest – who I thought was still a little too young, but I was WRONG – also asks daily “can we go to Disney World”. Its so darn cute! I am still reeling from the expense lol (totally worth it) but I hope to go back next year!

  29. Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out on August 14, 2014 at 11:10 am

LOVE the new look! So clean & chic!

  30. Julie on August 14, 2014 at 11:18 am

We love Disney so much! One of my fave things about it is all the great food & snacks. Our fave ride is Soarin’. Have you taken Liv on that yet?

  31. Traci on August 14, 2014 at 11:28 am

Haven’t ever been to Disney Land or Disney World, but there is still time for me at age 27!

  32. AR on August 14, 2014 at 12:08 pm

Would def love a Disney Land healthy eats post. Or any type of tourist/travel/airport healthy snack tips! Your new layout looks great 🙂

  35. Amber Schumann on August 14, 2014 at 12:17 pm

LOVE the new design–you are GLOWING in your header pic!

Two thumbs up for the idea of a Disneyland post. We are hoping to take our daughter for the first time next spring/summer (she will be almost 3 then). I haven’t been to DL since 2001, so I’m totally clueless on where to start. What parts are the best to hit for a toddler (in your experience of course)? I want to avoid “It’s a Small World” like the plague.

And just a side note, I so admire the amazing team that you and The Pilot seem to have going. You seem to have such solid support for each other, and that’s such a blessing. My hubby and I are still trying to find our support balance with my full-time job and his business that requires a lot of travel. We’ll get there. But it’s inspiring to know that balance and support is possible.

  36. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on August 14, 2014 at 12:20 pm

I’ve been to both Disneyworld & Disneyland. Disneyland is more manageable. There are so many parks at Disneyworld you could spend two weeks there and still not see it all.

  37. Lisa on August 14, 2014 at 1:06 pm

Love Disney World!! It’s a Small World was my absolute favorite ride – I think I made my mom ride it with me at least 10 times in a row. Pretty sure I’ve got some payback coming when we take our little one in a few years…

  38. Amanda on August 14, 2014 at 1:18 pm

I’ve never been to Disneyland, but I love that I always happen to be really close to It’s a Small World ride right as it is starts raining. I love the countries in Epcot.

  39. Polly @ Tasty Food Project on August 14, 2014 at 1:18 pm

I haven’t been to Disneyland since I was a small child in the early 90’s! Sad, I know! I really want to go back! BTW, I love the new look of your blog! I can’t wait to see the fully revamped version!

  40. Cassie on August 14, 2014 at 1:59 pm

Loving the blog revamp so far and that Mickey rice crispy looks bomb!

So bummed I couldn’t make it to IDEA this year, I’ve been dying to check it out =/ Hope you have a great time!

  41. Victoria on August 14, 2014 at 2:20 pm

Holy Batman, already loving the blog revamp! And the plaid shirt in the Castle photo, too cute!

  42. Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl on August 14, 2014 at 2:21 pm

The new blog look is fab!! I can’t wait to see the finished product!

  43. Bri Bliss on August 14, 2014 at 2:24 pm

Mickey Rice Krispy treats are my favorite at Disney! We always stop at the Main Street Confectionary to get one to eat while we watch the light parade!

  44. lea @ healthy coconut on August 14, 2014 at 3:05 pm

I live in the area and own an annual disney pass. We don’t dine often in the park, but when we do, I choose the veggie burger by the restaurant near Haunted House. It’s not on the menu but you can ask for it, I love it and glad that there are healthy options at Disney.

My baby boy loves the petting zoo across from Thunder Mountain, it’s never a complete visit without a stop from there.

I might go to the Expo on Saturday, I’m excited to go since it will be my first time.

  45. Jen on August 14, 2014 at 3:25 pm

I love the new blog design! It is a great blend of the existing identity but so clean and fresh and fun!

I wanted to note though – all in the interest of a completely non-critical friendly heads up – the blog post titles are really big (like the take up my entire monitor) – I wasn’t sure if that was intentional or not, so just in case it was a bug, I wanted to point it out 🙂

  46. Jessie @ Just Jessie on August 14, 2014 at 3:42 pm

    LOVE the new blog layout!

  47. Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs on August 14, 2014 at 4:46 pm

Love the design changes so far — can’t wait to see the rest!

  48. Jay on August 14, 2014 at 7:35 pm

    The layout looks fantastic!

Seeing the joy in my little one’s face at Disney is worth the trip . . . . goats and all! : )
