Hi friends! Happy Friday! Whatโs going on this weekend? Weโre heading off on a trip – check out IG stories for all the details over the next couple of weeks – but it will still be blog business as usual over here. I have a new beauty DIY post coming on Monday!
Itโs time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my fave finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something youโre loving in the comments section below.
Friday Faves 6.16
Community Detox Coming July 10th
If you feel like youโre ready for a little reset, join us for a community detox starting on July 10th. This is my 4th time completing the detox and itโs something I do quarterly in my routine to help remove toxicities, restore deficiencies, improve my sleep, energy, and digestion. I always feel like a million bucks when itโs over!
SO many of you joined me last time, so I wanted to invite you to join in if youโd like to go for another round. The fun starts July 10, so you can order your kit now and youโll be ready to go. (Use FITNESSISTA10)
Hereโs more about this 7-day detox:
โ Itโs a liver-based detox to help reset your body, provide a break from digesting heavy foods, and potentially help your body eliminate toxins that we accumulate from our environment. It includes functional medicine ingredients and Ayurvedic herbs to support phase 1 and 2 liver detoxification.
โ Itโs nutrition-focused. It includes the POWERHOUSE Daily Nutritional Support powder (which Iโve had in my smoothies for many months and notice a difference in how I feel when I drink this smoothie), and meal guidelines for the remaining meals. The goal is to NOT have your body depleted of nutrients during the process.
โ It can potentially help with weight loss along with anti-aging, and total body wellness.
โ Itโs only 7 days! When I first started working with a naturopath (back in the old days! It was like 2010), he had me do a month-long detox that was similar in format (but did not include the Ayurvedic supplements). Itโs so much easier to do for 7 days, and I feel like my results were even better from the extra nutritional support. (The first two days are supplements and smoothies only โ I typically add in some berries โ and on day 3, you add in nutrient-dense meals using their meal guideline/template.)
Itโs also very flexible; many people start the plan on day 3 (smoothie in the am, vegan lunch, Paleo dinner) and have excellent results.
Hereโs some feedback from friends who have completed the detox:

Read, watch, listen:
Liv has ready The Diary of Anneย Frank, so we watchedย A Little Lightย together on Disney+. It was heartbreaking, inspiring, heartwarming, and very well done. We only had to skip a couple of scenes, but Iโm so glad we watched it together.
Check out this weekโs podcast episode about being your own health advocate.
Just for kicks:
Fashion + beauty:
New Amazon set! I have this one in black (I accidentally threw it in the washer and it shrankโฆ) and love it. They have so many colors and it fits so well. It also looks way more expensive than it is! Link is here.
Since Iโm glasses-bound and eye makeup-free for at least another month or so, Iโve been doing a bolder lipstick. I picked up this one at Sephora when I was feeling pretty down and blah – Iโll post an update on the eye situation when Iโm on the other side. Thankfully, theyโre healthy and not infected but itโs been 3 weeks of redness and inflammation every day when I wake up – and it was a good little pick-me-up.
Fitness, health, + good eats:
Interesting studies coming out about taurine.
This is the best bug spay! Iโm always sketched out by bug spray ingredients andย this one from NOWย has great ingredients and actually works. (You can use my code FITNESSISTA20 for 20% off.)
Happy Friday, friends!

What is your eye diagnosis? I suddenly had severe blepharitis at age 35 and now recurrent corneal erosions in my 40s. Thankfully I had LASIK years ago so no glasses to worry about losing but I am super pale with whitish blonde invisible eyelashes so when I have flareupsโฆ I really miss eye makeup. However- my advice to you is if itโs going to be a recurring eye issue, learn to feel comfortable just as you are- itโs so freeing and nobody is judging us when our eyes arenโt done up the way we think they should be ๐
i’ve had conflicting opinions from doctors, but the most recent one thinks that something in the environment is fueling the inflammation + residual virus from when i had viral pink eye two months ago. i’ve always been terrified of lasik but now i wish i would have done it years ago!
thank you for this — i’ve been having a hard time. it seems silly because they’re just glasses, but i’ve worn contacts since i was 11 and definitely don’t feel like myself. it’s hard for me to see, work out, or be productive in them and i feel like i don’t know how to dress myself lol
I relate! Same! Contacts since 6th gradeโฆwith glasses, i feel like the world hasnโt turned the lights on, I canโt fully wake up, forget if youโre trying to get me to see something in my periphery & YES low productivity! Never heard anyone say the same & so glad to relate to someone on something that kinda feels like vanity lol. Hang in there and hoping for โbrighterโ days for ya very soon!!
you articulated it perfectly: like the world hasn’t turned the lights on. it’s comforting to know someone else feels the same way – thank you!
Totally in agreement with this. Don’t force me to wear my glasses after 9AM. I feel like I can’t wake up, drive, or become a contributing member of society until my contacts are in! I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. It feels hard in the moment. One day you’ll look back and it will just be a blip on the radar, but feeling frustrated right now is warranted and understandable. Hang in there Gina!
Hi Gina, I haven’t caught all of your posts about your eye issues so if this isn’t applicable please disregard… I recently discovered hypochlorous acid spray for disinfecting. I bought it as a wound disinfectant but learned it’s great for eye issues. Used it on my 2yo to clear up a persistent inflamed eyelid. Apparently it’s the same chemical our white blood cells generate to disinfect our body. And it doesn’t burn at all.
Thank you so much for chiming in. I have some of this (the SteriLid spray) and forgot about it. When I was using it, my eyes did look a bit better – I’ve kept a Google doc of everything I’ve tried. It’s a massive science experiment. I’m going to use it again for the next few nights. Thank you for the reminder!
