Friday Faves 7.28
Hello hello! Happy Friday! Hope youโve had a wonderful week. What are you up to this weekend? We were originally planning on a short getaway to San Diego but both kids are still a little traveled-out and requested to stay home and chill. (Liv is also still working away on her summer packet.) It will be nice to swim and catch up with friends before weโre back in the school hustle.
Other than that, Iโm getting a much-needed pedicure (bless), catching up on work stuff, and taking a hot yoga class. I hope you have a fun and lovely weekend ahead!
Itโs time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something youโre loving in the comments section below.
Friday Faves 7.28
Read, watch, listen:
Liv and I have been watching High School Musical, The Musical: The Seriesย on Disney+ and itโs SO.good. Weโre heading into Season 3 so we can be caught up when the new season is released. The songs, humor, plot lines, itโs all adorable. Iโve loved watching it with her.
Donโt forget to check out this weekโs podcast episode here!
I had a Kindle maybe 10 years ago and it got old and broke, so Iโd gone back to reading paper books and digital books on my phone or the iPad. I decided to order a new one for Prime Day and am so pumped about it. I love the smaller size of the Paperwhite, like a giant iPhone, minus the distractions of my phone, email, and social media. What should I download first??
Fashion + beauty:
Ok, so these arenโt exactly *fashion* (more function!) but I got P a pair of vivobarefoot shoes and they are SO cute. They fit her feet perfectly, she doesnโt have to worry about tying them, and she said they make her run fast (the ultimate kid test).
Since Iโve recently had to toss my skincare and makeup twice – give me like 6 months of happy eyes and then Iโll go back to my usual stuff – Iโve been switching things up and trying different brands. I ordered this Vitamin C serum from Thrive Market. It has great ingredients, a unique jelly-like texture that fully absorbs, and I notice a brighter skin texture when I use it.
For the same reason, I got a new gua sha stone but chose one thatโs easier for me to clean, since the stone ones are more porous. Itโs HEAVY and feels amazing.
Fitness + good eats:
Never underestimate the power of meal prep veggies! I love making a huge skillet of veggies to have on hand for the week. This week, it was onion, bell pepper, zucchini, tomatoes from the garden, artichokes, all sautรฉed together. Iโll add this to wraps, egg scrambles, sandwiches, or as a side with lunch.
Really glad weโll be back to school soon with way less screen time.
This buffalo chicken salad looks amazing.
Happy Friday, friends!

ps. See you here on Monday with some exciting Fit Team news!
You’re not missing anything in San Diego. The weather has been terrible this week – very unseasonable to have it overcast and very windy and very May Gray/June Gloom this week. Better to honestly not be here. People are in parkas and hoodies at the beach. Don’t believe all the heat wave hype on the news or that it’s sunny, that’s only in far east county.
Enjoy the new Kindle. That looks like a great step up from the one I have – slimmer and more like a big iPhone like you said!
ok that’s good to know we weren’t missing out! even though it’s been a thousand degrees here lol

How are you doing your artichokes for the meal prep??
For my firstborn, I read this really good book about getting your baby to eat vegetables first, so they had a rotation of 15 vegetables to start and rotate and first foods, anyway, one of those was artichokes and I just felt like it took so long for me to steam it, get barely any meat off the leaves, and then have the heart. But it just seems like so much work so for very little veggie reward!
oh i don’t do real artichokes for meal prep- i just use the poshi artichokes from thrive market!
we love steaming them with dinner, but when you just want the heart, it’s not worth the time
