Got the Fiyah

Hi guys 😀 How are ya? Hope your afternoon has been bueno <3

I’m always thankful for the mailman when I have nothing to write about 😉 He brings inspiration in cardboard boxes.

A lovely package from my friend, Brittany! (We’re doing a lil mail exchange)

Nori wrappers, Mary’s Gone Crackers BREADCRUMBS, raw almonds, almond butter, raw chocolate, tea and…cookie

why hello there 🙂

I took care of that chocolate cookie bar (gluten-free, dairy free, you’re amazing, Brittany) and another. I did save 4 for the pilot 🙂

And check out what else came….

I’ve got the fiyahhhhh 🙂

turbofire (2)

Me <—– Stoked  😀

turbofire (3)

Thanks again to Elizabeth for helping me order TurboFire 🙂 Her BeachBody coach page is *here* if any of ya’ll are looking to find a BeachBody program (like Insanity, P90X or TurboFire)- she’s awesome and a good friend of mine, so she’ll help ya out.

I read through the materials (standard eating plan- I’ll stick to my Gina style of feasting, class schedule, 5 day Inferno Plan for quick results) and am really excited about starting the workouts. From what I can tell so far, TurboFire is High Intensity Interval Training, combined with toning moves and is supposed to have baller upbeat music. I’ll be sure to let ya’ll know after I try the first workout tonight 🙂

Some random eats:

-1 C almond milk

-1/2 C frozen peaches

-a few frozen strawberries

-the other half of this morning’s bananner

-1 T brown rice protein (hoping my Sun Warrior gets here soon.. I miss it!)

-1 t spirulina

-a lil hemp seeds

Leftover Greek salad:

Greek salad

It tastes even better the next day 🙂

+ 2 unpictured, but delicious, slices of millet bread

I’m going to make another snack before heading back to work and then coming home to FIRE IT UP 😀

Have a lovely night <3

Note: Have any of ya’ll tried You can put in any artist and it comes up with every song that artist has EVER recorded. It’s been a medley of Glee all day over here 😀 Maybe I’m late to get on the boat, but I thought this was AWESOME because in Pandora you can’t choose specific songs. Edited to say:Some bloggies let me know that Grooveshark gave them viruses on their computers. I haven’t had any probs, but be careful and make sure you have good anti-virus software <3

LOVE Grooveshark! Apparently I loved it a little too much since my work recently blocked it on the internet. I’m so much more productive when music is playing!

  22. I’d love to try this once I’ve lost a bit more weight.

  23. Cassandra on July 7, 2010 at 3:58 pm

Have you ever tried Mary’s Sticks and Twigs? They are similar to the crackers, but are little “pretzels” instead. They even come in curry flavor!

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 6:06 pm

yes and i am OBSESSED with the curry flavor 🙂 the tomato ones are good too

  24. Katie @ Healthy Heddleston on July 7, 2010 at 4:00 pm

  27. Tiffany on July 7, 2010 at 4:06 pm

Glee is the exact reason I use Grooveshark! I use a Mac at home and haven’t had any problems (knock on wood).

Can’t wait to read your review on TurboFire!

  28. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on July 7, 2010 at 4:15 pm

love when the mailman brings something exciting! xx

  30. stephanie on July 7, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Would u do a post on the differences of sprouted, manna and millet bread? I tried miller and love it. Is it just as good as the sprouted? Also where do u get your oats?

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 6:04 pm

i haven’t tried manna bread but i’ve heard good things. i think sprouted is just as great as millet 🙂
my oats are from whole foods, but i’ll get them from publix too

  31. maddie on July 7, 2010 at 4:27 pm

grooveshark is my FAVE!! it has amazing remixes, and i use it to make my spin lists b/c we have wireless at the gym. it keeps my class music more varied without spending a TON on itunes 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 6:03 pm

      that is a genius idea!

  32. Sarah on July 7, 2010 at 4:36 pm

    Hi Gina!

Just got my Sun Warrior! Can’t wait to try it tonight…! They accidently sent me 2 chocolate and 1 vanilla instead of 2 vanilla and 1 chocolate (I ordered one for Celeste). I emailed Opensky, and they emailed me back IMMEDIATELY to fix my order. And, I get to keep the extra! 🙂 SOOO nice of them!

I tried the protein icecream last night with some leftover of a different protein. Let’s just say it looked nowhere near as good as yours (and didn’t taste good either haha). I’ll give it another try w/ the Sun Warrior! Do you think the hemp seeds are a must? Maybe that was my problem…

    Have a good day! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 6:03 pm

      hey girl,
WOW. opensky is amazing and has really great customer service- that’s why i’m so happy to work with them 🙂
i don’t think the hempseeds are a must- did you use the xanthan gum??

      • sarah on July 8, 2010 at 12:39 am

i did the xanthan gum, but i tried to “half” the recipe to just make a little bit, so i probably did something wrong lol. i’ll give it another shot! xo

  33. Liz on July 7, 2010 at 4:43 pm

Grooveshark is AWESOME. Saves me so much iTunes money, lol.

  34. Therese on July 7, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Looking forward to your review on TurboFire! I just got ChaLean Extreme (but am not doing the program just yet as I just starting training for my first half marathon) so I’m intrigued at what you think of her stuff!

  35. fran hlavacek on July 7, 2010 at 4:49 pm

Like almost everyone else here, I would love to hear your thoughts on TurboFire also. I love, love love Turbo Jam since it gave me enough self confidence to actually go to a kickboxing class and begin a whole change in attitude. The promo looks great, but I would rather hear about it from a sane Fitnessista! 🙂

  36. Anya @ Fitness & Sunshine on July 7, 2010 at 5:01 pm

Have fun trying out the program 🙂
+ thanks a lot for the grooveshark suggestion. I’ve been trying to find a good music site since my favorite went down.

  37. erin m.@well-in-la on July 7, 2010 at 5:15 pm

Other fun radio sources: try BBC Radio 1 or LastFM! Can’t wait to hear about the adventures with TurboFire… in the midst of BeachBody’s P90X (the lite-version! still teaching 3-5x a week, too)! Burnin’!!

  38. Jen on July 7, 2010 at 5:17 pm

I am really interested in hearing how the workouts are. I have the p90x program and stuck with it for about a month and a half, but the workouts were really long and I got bored working out in my living room every single day.

  39. Jill@MySoCalledHealthLife on July 7, 2010 at 5:27 pm

I am excited to hear about the new workout videos! You are a home workout machine. I usually need to get out of the house to be motivated. I need to follow your lead more often!

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 6:00 pm

since i work at two gyms, it’s kind of nice to get away from *work* to do my own workout, ya know?

  40. Mo on July 7, 2010 at 5:28 pm

I am so excited about the workouts – and can’t wait for you to report on them. Please keep us posted. For our anniversary, my husband bought me a bunch of mulch to spread . . . who knew the 15th anniversary was mulch??? So that’ll be my work out for the next day or two! Take care and hi to the pilot. Mo

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 6:00 pm

      mo, i love you 🙂

  41. Naomi (onefitfoodie) on July 7, 2010 at 5:47 pm

ahh I am so psyched you finally got the turbo fire!! i cant wait to hear what you think! I am probabky going to get it as well! I emailed your beachbody friend, elizabeth with some questions about it, I hope you don’t mind!

  42. Nicole on July 7, 2010 at 6:02 pm

I did a double take when I saw the box in the picture since I received the exact same box today! However, my brown box only contained Power 90…hey, I gotta start somewhere! Good luck and I look forward to watching your progress!

  43. Hallie on July 7, 2010 at 6:12 pm

Would you call Insanity HIIT? I am bought the DVDs to do after my half marathon, because I’ll be starting grad school this fall and won’t have tons of time to devote to working out (my “goal” is to lift weights twice a week to supplement, like you suggested). You said it leaned you out, which is really what I’m looking for. I’m nervous about it though, because you’re in better shape than me and it sounded so hard for you….luckily I have a month to mentally prepare 😉

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 6:18 pm

      hey girl,
just pace yourself and listen to your body and you’ll be golden.
insanity is interval training but a little different than hiit- it’s max interval training so the intervals are longer with shorter recovery. still an excellent way to burn fat and get endurance and agility up 🙂

  44. Brynne on July 7, 2010 at 6:36 pm

LOVE Grooveshark! I haven’t gotten any viruses from it – but my Glee playlist sure is epic :0)

  45. Debbie on July 7, 2010 at 6:41 pm

Awesome post!Cant wait to see mor.Where do you purchase the MILLET BREAD and the artisana cacao ?

  46. Paige (Running Around Normal) on July 7, 2010 at 7:04 pm

Yay for mail day!! That mail day is clutch, too! Nice:)
Good luck with the TurboFire! Love Chalene Johnson. Ever try ChaLean Extreme?

  47. Elise on July 7, 2010 at 7:12 pm

    Hey Gina,

Good luck with Fiyah!! I’m a little confused though because I thought you felt like you lost muscle with the Insanity workouts?? So I’m surprised that you are going for more cardio again. Did you ever get a chance to actually measure your BF% after Insanity or did you just go by your “gut feeling”…no pun intended =D

I need to try that protein ice cream recipe for my son. Where would one get Xanthan gum?

    • Fitnessista on July 7, 2010 at 7:39 pm

      hey girl,
i stopped losing muscle as soon as i started weight training again 🙂 so i’ll just keep weight training in addition to the fiyah
i got xanthan gum at publix in the organic aisle- most grocery stores should have it. it’s pricey, but you only need a little

  48. andi @ livelaughbefit on July 7, 2010 at 7:26 pm

i also can’t wait to hear about the fiyahhh. i’m SO tempted to buy the set–i really dig turbo jam, but think that it’s too fast for anyone who hasn’t taken kickboxing in a gym to learn proper form with a mirror. (i think you really need to master the basics before doing the workouts :))i taught cardio kick for a few years and that’s my only qualm on the jam. but the music rocks, i really like chalene, and it’s a great workout. so i anticipate hearing good things! yay!

  49. bianka on July 7, 2010 at 7:33 pm

Man I’m jealous… my mailman never brings me delicious treats 😉 enjoy those chocolate cookie bars for me!

  50. Shanna @ Shanna Like Banana on July 7, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Looking forward to TurboFire thoughts. I’m looking for a good at-home workout video that I feels does the job of the gym or a class. And on that note, I’m off to Spinnnnn 😉
